i am wondering that if i ask my fioncee's mother/ father or friend to sponsor me ! what they are actually required to do for me! and what is needed by them for the time i am sponsored by them!

also does it affect them in any way when filing taxes or any thing like that ! or is it just they go by their everyday life as if nothing has actually change( ie they have sponsored me)

i am really worried about this subject because my gf makes around $18,000 with no assets to help her income! and she has a house hold of 3 but with me it becomes 4! so she needs to make around $26,000

so does her income and the sponsors need to make the $26,000 or just the sponsor has to make $26,000
or is it just the amount the of the household the sponsor lives in!!

any help would be grate!

sorry if this message has no punctuation i was in a hurry writing it sad.gif

The joint sponsor must meet the guidlines for their own household plus the intending immigrant. Your fiancee and her children would only be included in that number if they were in the same household as the sponsor.

Ok thanks people!! if i had insurance through my job once i had a work permit then would the insurance cover me while in hospital! if something bad happened e.g ill or broken bones! or would the co -sponsor be the one who had to pay for the treatment!!??

The Co-Sponsor would be required to pay for those types of expenses if you were not able too yourself.

You will be fine if the co-signer can meet the poverty guidelines for the given number in the household. The only way they would be truly affected is if that individual they co-signed for was going to become a public charge. Meaning the government would have use our tax dollars to support them, the by law the co-signer must be the supporter if the petitioner is unable to do so. Make sure that you don't get sick or badly injured making it impossible for you to work because it might be damaging to your relationship with the co-signer.

This is personal and really is not relevant, but none the less.... I would like to make 1 point first though. When something doesn't make sense, in many cases it is because you don't have all the facts to see the situation clearly. This is the case in this situation.
The marriage was dead for 6 years and we remained together for the sake of our daughter. So, yes, 1 month after the legal divorce, but 6 years after the physical and emotional divorce.

Sorry to hear that. Yes here in VisaJourney it is really non of our business when it comes to such personal issues.

Hey everyone,

I am trying to plot this all out so I have all the paperwork completed, checked and ready to go int in time for the interview and my employers are still working on putting paperwork together. How much time do I have exactly? My girl hasn't received her Packet 3 yet, but when she does how much time does she have to complete it?

Any helpful insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I will be unable to show income for 2005 or 2006 because I was a missionary in Hungary for those two years. Along with that when I came home in the year of 2007 and did not make above the poverty line for that year. Do they still want to see my tax returns?

Also, I plan on providing a letter of explanation as to why I had no income for 2005 or 2006, are there any other suggestions?

This is off topic, (I know).

Where are you a university student? Will you complete your degree before getting married? If not, will your credits transfer and can you complete your education after the marriage?

You don't want to be dependent on her or her family. A college degree will enable you to begin a career that will pay a salary far above poverty level income.

You sound quite young and in a hurry. Maybe, you've thought these things through. If you haven't, I suggest making your education a very high priority.

To continue with the off topic part of this thread I just wanted to add that hese words are of importance to me as well. Education is the most important right now and everyone tells me this.

Packet 3 and 4 are just terms used to distinguish what we get from the embassy. They are not official titles used by the consulate.

Packet 3: Forms to fill out (DS 156, DS 156K, DS 230, instructions for medical, getting police reports, etc).

Packet 4: Interview appointment letter.

That should be it once he gets the interview appointment letter.

So there isn't an actual packet 3.5 at all?

Hi everyone,

a few questions.
What do you mean when you say something was 'touched'?
Also, we sent our I-129 (my fiance is an American citizen, I am British moving there) and received the NOA1 just a short while later on the 19th of November 2007. So far we haven't heard anything at all, whatsoever. Apart from assembling the relevant financial support documents, is there anything we need to be doing with the affadavit of support? My understanding was that we wait for the NOA2 then deal with the affadavit; is that correct?

Thanks,

Jack.

Being touched does not really mean a lot. I would not depend on any touches as they have really little meaning.

Yes you are correct Jack, wait for the NOA 2 and then start collecting most of your financial information because it is bound to have changed during the waiting time for approval.

QUOTE (Gra and Daniel @ Apr 9 2008, 10:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have a few questions regarding the I 134. I will start off with that I made $32k in 2007. In 2005 and 2006, I was part-time worker because I was a full time student. So, my 05-06 Tax Returns will be weak, but my 2007 will fully support the minimum 125% (household of 2). Ok. Good there. Year to date 2008, I have made $12k. Here is the thing. In 07 and this year, I have made 100% commision based pay. I received inconsistant pay every month, that has totaled to over 12k so far this year. Given that I will have a letter of explanation from my employer and the rest of supporting docs, how would you think that I stand being the sponsor for my fiancee? Do I look good seeing that I made barely any money in 05/06 and have been commision based since Jan. 2007? Will they just assume that I will consitantly make $4000 a month for the rest of the year or will they not like that I do not receive salary but inconsitant commision based pay? Any insite would be greatly appreciated.

You should be just fine. They mostly care about current income which that department is fine. If you can show any assets that you have to help back you up but other than that you will be just fine.

I cannot help much but I have heard through my Ahmed that some of the people he knows have been asked for new Police reports and medical exams because the embassy is ready to issue visa and the ones they have on file have expired. The ones he knows was not asked to submit the entire packet three just the police and medical. But I am also sure he did not ask them about it. Did you email the embassy and ask why u received the entire packet 3 rather than just a leter requesting the police and medical as they told him on the phone? I would check before I did it all again.

I am sorry for what you have been through and what you are still going through.....I pray this will end with visa in hand soon.

Do you meet the requirements on income alone? If so, then you will not need any of the bank information. That is only needed if you are using your savings to make up the difference in income.

I should think that if your tax returns show your income history and a letter from your new job, you should be OK.

Don't understand why it wouldn't hurt. If you have it why not show it?

If you send a little more evidence because it makes you feel comfortable - that's good (mostly for your comfort). If you send in too much it can annoy the examiner - remember they are only going to spend 2 or 3 minutes with each candidate - they will ask you for things that you can give to them to support your case when asked for - no need to take a suitcase of evidence when a small folder will do. And why would you kill all these trees by using excessive documents and then copying them. But in the end, its your petition/visa and you do what makes you feel comfortable. Remember if you give bank/asset/real estate info, then you also need to provide documentation to back it up e.g. a bank statement showing the balance; a statement from the stock broker/mutual funds people showing the value of investments; a property tax notice and mortgage statement providing the value of your ownership - it seems an overkill when all they want to know is that you can support this extra person or persons.
Good Luck

Good point, thanks for the elaborative response.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Oh my gosh! Somebody please help me!

Well, the embassy plans on giving him random drugs tests throughout the year. This could be the start of that. Why not start the random testing at the interview?

If he told the embassy that the last time he tried drugs was 4 years ago and he tested positive now, then wouldn't he receive a lifetime ban for lying? The consulate asked him during the interview if he was on drugs and he replied "no" so if his test was positive, he is committing fraud. If he told the embassy he had tried drugs 4 years ago and he continually tests negative now and throughout the year, the consulate can give the visa knowing that this applicant has been clean and is true to his word.

My point is that if he actually tested positive, then I would think he would be facing harsher penalties, like misrepresentation and fraud, not just a one-year ban.

I agree. It wouldn't be just a 1 year ban. Should be more if he was Positive. Maybe the second druug test was the start of the random drug testing.

I know someone from VJ too who applied for a K1 and K2. During the medical exam, the son (K2) admitted to have used Marijuana 2 years ago. Thus, he was denied of the visa for 1 year and was asked to do random drug testing. They were from Jamaica.

Since the OP told her fiance to "never lie about anything", probably the disclosure about previous drug use caused this. Anything related to drugs is a big No No in immigration process. A girl who did the medical exam with me admitted to the doctor that she experimented with Marijuana 4 years ago too, she was held for a series of tests. I don't know what happened to her interview though. It's a case to case basis.

They let me in before when my cousin was petitioned by his parent. His legal guardian here is a senior citizen. So, a minor and a senior citizen. I just had to tell that to the guard at the first line.

If not, you could either ask a relative to come with you and take care of your baby outside while they wait for you to be done. If the CO asks for the baby, you could just say he/she is outside the embassy. OR bring him/her in but in a baby body bag (one that wraps in front of you?). In that case, your hands are free.

Good luck

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Validity of Police Certificate for NVC...

Be careful--6 months to a year is simply not true depending on the country. You said in your original post that it is good for 90 days in Laos--EVERY country is different, so please do not take a generalization as the gospel. If it is 90 days, it is not 6 - 12 months.

Good point of view and very good advise. We will get a new police certificate.
