WOW Jeanne! Congrats to Wael! Adam has talked to the family doctor about it, but hasnt went to go get the prescription. I would love Adam to be cig free!

Hey Tam! Yes it's a good program. He had been wanting to quit and was a struggle for him
to finally come to terms that he had to stop. Couple things made a difference. He himself had
to be the one to say NO MORE. Also having him see exactly how much he was spending on
cigs which was outrageous! When totalled he saw he could have had a couple trips to Egypt!

He was in a cigarette fog! But at least he had his "OOOOOOHHH" moment!!

Hope you can get Adam on the program! What a difference. Good luck!

Out of the 900 free channels we have we don't have the one channel owned by the Saudi billionaire that has broadcasting rights to air the game so it's either go to a cafe or search for the link of the football fan that pirates the game to the internet. I'll just watch the rerun and listen to the crowds outside. If I went to the cafe I'd be the only American waving a flag. blush.gif

Olivia, about the koshary. Usually when one gets his koshary it comes with a couple condiments. I don't like the hot sauce/garlic vinegar at all so I always make sure my koshary is just plain. It shouldn't bother your stomach or have that garlicky taste. I hope this works for you!

I do cook liver (calf) for Wael but he doesn't care one way or another if he has it or not. I'm so very very lucky that he eats anything. He is acquiring the taste now for Mexican food. I cook very little Egyptian or MENA foods. Our meals consist of mainly Italian and European dishes. My family is Italian and he loves the flavors of the different sauces and the simplicity of the meals. I guess he is unusual as he never uses ketchup or hot sauce.

I worry about you not eating. I certainly hope you will feel better soon.

so husband comes home the other night looking like death. He sat down on the couch and just sighed louder and louder. Then he whipped open a plastic bag and started breathing into it. That's when I got nervous and went over to him and he just held his hand up like "don't talk...wait". Well five freakin' minutes later he's still breathing in and out of the bag but I noticed something....

I asked, "do you have the hiccups?" to which he responded "yes", while looking like "please take me to the hospital".

unsure.gif

I gave him a glass of water and told him to drink it while bent over and lifting his head up. The hiccups disappeared in less than 30 seconds. He sighs heavily and said that he's had the hiccups for THREE HOURS at work and he feels so sick.

Is YOUR mena man this dramatic about the hiccups? Did they teach them in Egypt that they can die from them? And what's with breathing in a bag????

Bridget I am on the floor laughing! I hope he NEVER gets the hiccups again! They are just little boys at heart.

Yesterday when Wael got his MMR immunization they put a bandaid over the area. This morning as he was leaving for work I saw it and asked him " aren't you going to take off the bandaid?" He looks at me with his wide eyes and said "ohhh no I can't yet"! So I just told him..."yep you're right, your arm will probably fall off if you do!!!" Hiccups and bandaids....really no difference...just priceless!!!

Jeanne I tried to tell my hubby that making changes come a little at a time you can't try to tackle it all at once. We started together at the Y last night. I am proud of him. He has cut down a little on the smokes but I have told him now that he is working out try no more late night eating and cut out the sweet drinks. Talk about sugar. Yeah my husband is one of those sugar addicts too. I never saw a man drink so many fluids in my life. Water, coffee, soda, juice you name it. If he could have a 2 liter of soda everyday he would be happy. So I said, let's start by cutting out the soft drinks and juices. Just water and the occasional coffee. He agreed. He also is gung ho! about the membership so now let's see if he goes as much as he says. I have to admit, we feel better already and it was really nice for us to do something together and encourage one another. biggrin.gif

Lisa that's great you have given him encourgement! You are right when it comes to baby steps. Take one obstacle at a time. For him it was mainly the smoking and sugar (as if that's not enough)! As much as I don't like commercials I do believe they played a big part with him seeing how "healthy" you can be if you want to be. We are bombarded with healthy this and healthy that. He's doing cardio every other day and free weights the other days. I can see a difference with his attitude and how much better he feels. Keep up the encourgement!!!

Mornin' Charles. Are you home or still away? Thanks for the list!

Jackie, I hope you will begin to feel better. Just take care.

Terrie, how's everything in SD? Know you are enjoying that beautiful city!

Congrats Amy!

Olivia, do hope you are also beginning to feel better. Egypt has taken its
toll on you!

Wael got his last MMR immunization for the university. He is now authorized
to pick his classes! Lucky guy!! Well, another project his is undertaking now.
He has cut out all his sugar! No pepsi, sugar in coffee or tea (except Splenda)
no ice cream, candy, etc.....I think he has had a revelation somewhere or was
so sick of hearing me and my constant mouth about the tons of sugar he was
consumming. He did tell me he felt so different. Will have a healthy guy in the
next couple months! I am so very proud of him for making a difference in his
lifestyle.

Have a great day everyone. It's so hot here but as they say "it's a dry heat"! laughing.gif

Well, its actually for inside. I want it for our one car garage on the other side of the house. We are cutting a door to it, since its already a small studio with a seperate entrance. The opposite wall thats attached to the house will lead right into the playroom for the babies. So Hazem is setting up a studio in there (for his video/dance/music making hobby/amusement) but he will still need to keep an eye on the babies and keep them out of that equipment too so it would be perfect. Right now, we have a hole and no door tongue.gif

Perfect idea good.gif until they learn how to climb it (which won't take long ) or learn how to get Angus to stand under it, climb him and go over rofl.gif

That would Nour! She is our escape artist....Zain is content playing until she comes along with her "plans"! LOL tongue.gif

LOL Annie! That would have been me whistling.gif . My twin was always so content to just sit and play until "someone" had bigger and better things to do!! I was gone in 60 secs!! What fun for my parents!

LOL! It's so funny how different they are. Zain can play for hours alone in "baby jail" content w/ his toys, books, Noggin station and couch. Then Nour wakes up (she sleeps in of course...always the late riser!) sits next to him, twin talks and they are off trying to break out of "baby jail" and throwing toys out on the floor! They pile toys together, couches and try to climb out or she pushes him. Last attempt, she taught him to use his weight to push down the one wall and hold it...she shimmied on over to freedom and let go, he flew about 2 feet and crashed on his head. Did he learn? No, next day they were at it again tongue.gif

Well, it wasn't so bad as when I fell asleep with a gel coldpack on my head, woke up in the dark with it on my chest, and lay there for 5 minutes in a silent panic, wondering how such a HUGE SNAKE had crawled into my bedroom and how I would get it off me without getting bitten. Middle East and North AfricaVisitor Visa for my sister
Your sister will just have to take her chances of coming here. We all want our wives/husbands families to come, but the embassies have protocols that they have to follow.

Only thing you can do is have her apply and just wait. And I do understand how isolated you feel sweetie. Everyone's husband or wife has felt or is still feeling the same way. You are definately not alone.

I wish you and your sis the best of luck with Cairo!!

QUOTE (Bigbear @ Jun 25 2009, 11:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hello Guys I am an old member I am getting ready to remove the consition on my GC. But I need my sister to come over spend the summer with me. she is 26 years old not married and she work as a teacher and leave with my Parents! She has an interview in cairo embassy at July 21! My mum came here twice before and left on time smile.gif
so my question is what is my sister chance to get accepted for this visitor visa! I really very much do this for her!
and I don't know what the Cairo Embassy may do! what shall I do or prepare of papers so that it may increase her chance to get the visa?
I am egyptian woman married to An american man for almost 4 years now and we have a baby girl she is 2 years old now smile.gif
I have been studying for over a year now for my medical liscensing exam and I can't wait till my sister is here so we can have fun in the summer and show her America! I feel it's so unfair that I am legal living in US paying my taxes and I can't get my sister to visit me just because I am from Egypt!!!
I feel that I am cast away!!! I really don't know what to do but when you move with your husband to anotehr country it should be a normal thing to have family member visit you! is not it!!!???? wacko.gif wacko.gif

She will have to apply just like your mom did for her vistor's visa. Why do you think this is unfair? Has the embassy given you any reason that she wouldn't be able to come for a visit? Has she even applied?

She will just have to take her turn in line with tourists visas. You knew exactly what it takes to come to the states. Some visitors they approve...other's they do not. So you will just have to wait and see.

Middle East and North AfricaFirst Jobs in the US for MENA SOs
Wael was extremely fortunate to find a job 2 wks after arriving here. He works for a military contractor on base. Haven't had the problems yet with discrimination. He tells me he can't believe how nice the people are to him.

He will begin his studies this fall at the University of Arizona pursing his second BA in Economics. We were happy he could transfer many of his units from his BS in Accounting from Egypt. His supervisor at work told him to let him know when his classes were so he could possibly still be there and work partime! He really has been blessed.

Wael wasn't able to receive any Pell grants coz he already has a degree, but was able to receive student loans and private grants.
