Good morning! Happy Saturday to everyone!

Beautiful here today. Temp will be 71. Seems like the birds
think it's spring. The hummingbirds still chatter endlessly, the
other little birds are making their nests flying with their "new"
furniture in tow!! Gotta love these funny little creatures!

Rosie, enjoy the music festival!!

Berber Mama, be careful out there!!

Ohh Jackie, I know you are so excited!! Gives me little goosebumps
to think he's FINALLY getting his ticket!

Andrea, I lived in Tampa one year when they had snow. I sent pics home
and my family asked me WHY I was taking sooo many pics of the sand!

Mornin' Charles and B&T!!

Charles, next year you and Ben will be out building snowmen!!

Zee!!! Where in the world have you been!!! Nice seeing you again!!

Enjoy your Saturday! Stay warm and if you're going out stay safe.

QUOTE (JeniLovesMarwan @ Dec 24 2009, 05:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I hope its not going to take a long time for his visa. I just dont even know where to begin to look for status on my husband's visa case. We filed our petition DCF because I lived with him in Egypt for over 6 months would I still contact DOS for his status or would I just contact the US embassy in Cairo? I have emailed the embassy but no response yet I guess because of the holiday. But if I contact DOS even though we filed the petition through DCF does anyone have the number that I would call or the email for them. Because I really dont know what to do or who to contact about his status for his visa. Thanks

You can call DOS to check on the status of your case. They usually only update their data once a
week. You can email the embassy, but look forward to receiving generic mail in return. The norm
for Cairo is telling your SO it will only be a week, a couple weeks or with my husband was 3 wks.
Fast forward 6 months and his visa was issued.

We filed a DCF also and I still had to call DOS for information. I also lived with Wael for over 6 months. You see Jen, it doesn't matter what the circumstances are....Cairo will issue the visa when
they have COMPLETED all the necessary checks. Until then you can't do much but wait.

As you can see, Cairo has NO set timeframe for issuing visas after the interview. It's the luck of
the draw. Don't put yourself in more stress trying to figure out what Cairo will do.

It's a waiting period and yes, a very stressful waiting period. You can't speed up the process.

Take one day at a time. Eventually they will make a decision. Best of luck.

Hot Guy said it the best in his post. The information was great!

Here are some info about the AP

• What is Administrative Processing?
AP is also called Additional Administrative Processing and is when the applicant is being checked more closely. It can be for security checks which encompass fingerprints and/or name checks or for document verification.

• When does Administrative Processing Happen?
AP can happen at any time during your processing. It can happen at a service center, at the NVC level, or at the embassy level. It mainly is discussed here in the forums at the embassy level.

• Who can get Administrative Processing and Why?
AP usually affects men and women from certain countries but anyone can get AP. Persons coming from T countries (Terrorist Countries) seem to have more security checks and have to endure AP at the embassy level after their interview. Common names, your nationality, religion, education, relationship of applicant, travels and job can all be factors for AP. Having incomplete or missing documents will also cause a case to be put in AP. In some cases if the embassy does not believe in the validity of the relationship they can investigate it further with a field investigation.

• What are the T-Countries?
Although it is classified, the list of countries reportedly affected by these restrictions includes, but is not limited to, Afghanistan,
Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt,
Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya,
Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia,
Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates,
and Yemen.

• Can I check the status of my case?
The embassy will not in many cases respond to emails until a certain amount of time has elapsed. The best bet is to contact Department of State aka: DOS and ask them for an update bi-weekly. They will not be able to give you details but they can tell you if the case is still pending in AP or cleared.

• Can I expedite this process?
The simple answer is NO. No one can expedite the checks since they are considered a matter of National security. An elected official can only make a congressional inquiry on your behalf. They cannot get the checks finished any faster.

• Does AP have any time frame for completion?
NO AP can last anywhere from days, weeks, months and in a few cases years.

Anyone that happens to be given a 221(g) or Administrative Processing letter must be patient and let them do their work. Do not call constantly and ask about your case. Remember each time your case is moved it can then end up at the bottom of the stack and your time can be extended. Each case is different so you cannot judge your case by any other and each consulate/embassy may have a different average time for completion of AP.

And here is a compare or the different between Administrative process and the administrative review :-

Administrative Review: Is when your case is being looked at more closely for accuracy and to make sure all security name and fingerprint checks have cleared and your visa can be adjudicated.

Administrative Processing: Means once you have interviewed it is in security checks for any of these situations: you have had a name hit in one of the many data bases, background checks for fraud, or has missing and incomplete information that must be submitted and the rechecked. Processing is more in depth and than the review process and there is no time limit for this processing to complete. Administrative processing can last a few days or months and in some cases it has endured for years.

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Mohamed

I was looking at the list from the site about marriage in Morocco. Before Wael and I married in Alexandria (also filing a DCF) I had to have everything on that list except the police report. Our first
trip to the Embassy was obtaining the notarization to marry. I thought most MENA countries had
the same or almost the same requirements.

Reading over this site it saddens me to see just how much fraud is going on and seems to be
getting worse.

Middle East and North AfricaMonday!

Good afternoon!

I spent the morning at the doctor's office. I thought this was funny. My doctor asked me what I use for birth control, since I haven't been in since we got married, and I said "Well, my husband is in Morocco and I'm here." She said "That pretty much takes care of it, doesn't it?

The rain started to come and it's cold here! Well, cold for us. I got about halfway done with my course preparations yesterday so I will do that this evening and then just the usual get ready for work chores (laundry, pack lunches for the week, etc.). At least it's a quick week. Now the long haul until Spring Break but there's a chance I may get to go to Morocco and see Omar so I'm hoping!

Aya I'm sorry you don't have that visa in hand yet. I think it's wise to get as much done as you can because it'll be less for you to have to do at the last minute, like you said. Jackie, are you jumping around the house all giddy yet? I'm soooo excited for you and can't wait to hear all about your happy reunion! Jeanne how's Tucson? Are you guys being pelted with rain yet?

Everyone have a great day!

Advice from people about people who are not dealing with a MENA consulate is not the best advice for people who are dealig with a MENA consulate. RSN and others, while you may mean well, those of us who are very familar with MENA situations are better equiped to offer advice to women who are intent on marrying MENA men. This is why there is a MENA board; the circumstances facing us and the application of the US law is often not simiar to those coming from Canada or Asia. Please keep this in mind before insisting that your advice is applicable here as it may be elsewhere, for it is easy to mislead someone even as you intend to help them.

When one files for a DCF and gets approved.... how long do they have to use the visa to come into the United States? Thanks!

6 months.

Though you cannot process DCF unless you both live in the consular district in question, both with legal residence, for more than 6 months prior to filing - which is not your case if I remember correctly.
