Middle East and North Africa	MENA Daily Chat 1.0	The contract was for 1 year, so they have agreed to let him terminate it 6 months early, but we will have to pay. Will the embassy give us a hard time about extended our NOA2 approval until he gets back to Egypt in 6 months? Mandy, I really don't know what Cairo will do but perhaps you should email them and ask. Have they had a chance to come to the states before? Have a wonderful time with them!! Mandy, sorry they won't give him back his passport. I've heard from several people that they do that as they want people to fullfill their contracts. Does he have any plans on what to do next? Will he just stay and finish it out? Our progress with Wael's citizenship is going pretty fast. He has his biometric appt Oct 21. He's so excited about becoming a citizen. He's such a sweetheart. Middle East and North Africa	MENA Daily Chat 1.0	I am about 4 hours from Minneapolis and would love to move up there as my older sister lives in Oakdale but I am not having any luck finding anything online. I was actually up there in June to see about a place but it fell through even tho I really wanted it. I know that the roller coasters arent fun for very long and it isnt all his fault with it and I have been causing just as much stress between us as he has. I am taking it slow on everything so much so that I have actually postponed my trip until next summer. That way I dont have to worry about my daughters getting to school and such. The boys are doing great at their dads so I see no harm in them being there really. I tell them I love them every day before they go to bed if they are not sent to bed early. I know when to pull the plug if it begins to spiral out of control. Slow and steady oh yeah and I have having him talk to a friend of mine who is a colonial in the Egyptian Army. More for my family's peace of mind then anything. I may never have been to Egypt but I do have connections. LOL Scaring the ####### out of him when he walks in and Tarek demands to know what his intentions are priceless, and I wish I could be a fly on the wall. I know I am bad but this is better then the scheme I had come up with my little brother to know his true intentions which involved pretending to be kidnapped at the airport. LOL. I hope everyone is having a good day and always look at the bright side of the days. I know I have had to look there more then a few times lately. If you hear of anything up there in the area pretty please let me know. I dont wanna be in Iowa any more. Which is said I was born and raised here and I dont want to live here anymore. Go figure. I have lived in Michigan and Illinois and Florida for a few months. Ho hummmmm. Im sorry kind of ramblings today. I'm really confused. You've never been to Egypt? Where did you marry your husband? When the sky is this color I remember the quote "red sky in the morning sailor's warning, red sky at night sailor's delight". So I googled this quote....Always was curious about it!! Red sky in morning, sailor's warning. A red sunrise reflects the dust particles of a system that has just passed from the west. This indicates that a storm system may be moving to the east. If the morning sky is a deep fiery red, it means a high water content in the atmosphere. So, rain is on its way. Wow bba, that's terribly high for water! Where do you plan on moving? Wael is up to his eyeballs in midterms. Had his first one yesterday, 1 tomorrow, 4 next week and 1 Oct 7th. Don't know how he does it taking 21 units. He's one who loves studying....love his motivation! Took a little break last night and watched "The Informant" with Matt Damon. Good movie! When I was shopping I picked up a new soup from pacific foods. It was their organic creamy tomato. This soup was awesome! Very light and flavors that kept you wanting another spoonful!! I will try their other brands especially the butternut squash. Get's me in the mood for fall! Really excellent soup. Hope you will try it. Enjoy your day! Middle East and North Africa	MENA Daily Chat 1.0	Good morning everyone! Beautiful dark clouds with a hint of sun coming thru this morning! It actually rained yesterday. Hopin' it will rain again. Jenell, our trees don't actually change colors like other trees in the fall. They are either green or brown...depends on the rain. Wish we could have some reds and golds like maple, oak, hickory etc....but we just have the trees of the desert. We have the beautiful Palo Verde tree that blooms brilliant yellow in the spring. Fall is the time I miss the east coast. Living in Virginia, I would go to Williamsburg frequently and the colors there are breathtaking. There is also the Colonial Parkway drive that is brilliantly colored in the fall. Wishin' I was back in VA!!! I'm sure all you east coasters are beginning to enjoy the fall colors! I was 19 at the timeand I remember getting off of work from the childcare center and my rear-view mirrorhad melted off my window. Did I mention I finally saw that movie you recommended "Cairo Time"? Sara good luck with ignoring the laundry. Cookies sound like more rewarding work anyways. Welcome to MENA Amber. Mandy the boat ride sounds nice. There is a boat ride in the movie "Cairo Time" and I wonder if it will be like that. I have some good news about the job prospects. The video editor job that came on EID is looking like it's going to work out. I'm going in tomorrow to meet with the News Director. Also I'm having laptop issues. It lets me type for a period of time then the keyboard short circuits out and I can't type. The rest of the computer works fine but I have to restart my laptop to get the keyboard working again. It's only a year and a half old Dell. The touch pad short circuited out awhile back and I got a wireless mouse but now I'm starting to think I got a lemon of a laptop. This is what those $250 warranties are for that I didn't purchase. Sheesh. Sure hope you get the job Olivia! Sorry to hear about your laptop. Mine did the same thing exactly 2yrs after I bought it. Had to get another one. My first laptop lasted 7 wonderful years. I think they are now only lasting approx 2 yrs at the most. Shame isn't it. No, you didn't mention you saw the movie. How was it? I really would like to see it. I went on a boat ride down the Nile and it was fantastic. It's very romantic and surprised the water was very cold...I had to FEEL the Nile. Ok, anytime now like the rest of the world, the temps can drop a couple degrees! It's another hot day....wish fall would literally FALL upon us poor creatures of the desert! I'm lucky again today...I get to do some shopping. Maybe if it was cooler...ohhh yeah...that's in my dreams! Shopping here is an adventure. First firing up the A/C...getting to where you want to go with Tucson's horrible traffic ( have to admit it's NOTHING like Phoenix)...parking and the winner is, putting up that sunscreen thing in your windows so you don't burn to death when you get back in your car!! I fight with that sucker all the time. Really doesn't matter if your windows are tinted. The thought makes me want to stay home. I sure hope everyone is doing well and having a good day! It says that our 10 year green card is approved and that our card production is ordered today! It also says to allow up to 30 days for it to arrive! Hubby and I were out at the pool and just got chased in by the daily thunderstorm. Poor hubster hasn't been caught outside in one of florida's famous lightning storm! Needless to say, I doubt very serious if he will get caught outdoors again! Olivia~ that job opportunity is very very nice~ sounds like it has a great potential!!!! Middle East and North Africa	MENA Daily Chat 1.0	Well MENA the door closed forever on me for the government job I was up for recently. In the bigger picture it was meant to be so. After getting the news and talking it over with the family here I've decided to pursue my Masters again sooner than I thought I would. This means for the next several months I'll be studying for the GRE to retake it & getting applications ready to send off this fall for acceptance next fall. We are also a week and a day away from our AOS interview so in the meantime we'll be collecting ourselves and what we need to finish putting together for our evidence. We're up for our 10 year green card & I am so ready to be done with immigration for the next several years. Hopefully all will go well. I'll check in and let you all know how the interview goes. I know I also share that interview day with MENA VJ's own Jackie, "the hostess with the mostess", who went into "Sandbox/Slumber Party" retirement a while back. I wish her all the best as well in their upcoming interview. Since I've been here on VJ it seems the old MENA has mostly moved on and passed the torch over to the new MENA on VJ. Since the beginning of the year it seems there is a new core group here that checks into the daily thread with a few old stragglers in various phases of the immigration process and some newbies. This is just a suggestion but maybe instead of posting daily threads with a limited number of posts each day we might like to start one thread where MENA can check in with each other and chat daily. For example like the "Sub-Saharan Cyber Cafe" thread in Sub-Sahara forum or like I've seen it done in various other regional forums. You can still post your Happy Caturday's and your Hump Day pictures or whatever day of the week pictures when the day arrives it will all just be in the same thread until you reach near or at 5,000 post at which point for server purposes the thread will need to be locked and a new version of the MENA Daily Chat would need to be started, i.e. "MENA Daily Chat 1.1", then "MENA Daily Chat 1.2", then "MENA Daily Chat 1.3", until you get to 1.9 then you start at 2.0. YKWIM? I don't know what comes after 9.9. Maybe 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, ect? If you all don't like this idea you can all certainly consider this the Thursday Daily Thread and carry on per usual. But if you do like the idea of a consolidated daily chat thread in MENA you can even have the regional mod, Charles, change the name of this daily chat thread if you come up with a more creative name, and like the new one you all come up with, and would like to stick with it. Middle East and North Africa	MENA November 2010 Chat	Good evening! Happy Saturday (almost Sunday) to all! Wael is doing research at the UofA library so thought I would come on to see what's happening in MENA! Andrea, Wael did better than me! He drove around for over 30 mins just trying to find a place to park...he was so in the shopping mode. Looked around a few stores at the mall and we had a late lunch, then off to another mall. Found some items for him for Christmas and a few other things that I will go back by myself to get. As we were walking to the first mall, we noticed someone had literally stuffed their packages in their trunk and the trunk had come open....packages all over by the car and the street. I wondered if someone came by and decided they had "freebies"!!!!!!!!!!! Can you imagine coming back to your car and everything is gone! Also, we were waiting for a lady in front of us to pull into this parking place. Just as she was going this other car from the opposite direction pulled right into the space in front of her!!!!!!!!!! I thought...ohhh ***** what a way to begin our shopping! She was screaming and honking her horn and thought she was going to get out and take on the guy who got "her" parking spot! Got out of there as fast as we could! It was nice to get home Wael is already talking about going to the "after Christmas sales"!!!!!!!!! What a man!!! Got new tires for my car today and had the brakes checked. I'm good to go!! Wael has his appt for his GMAT testing Jan 6. He's a busy guy. Sure hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
