I never used a calling card. He never called me nor did I ever call him on the telephone! We used yahoo voice, msn voice and skype voice chat. If his computer at home was having probs, then he just went to a net cafe. I just refused to pay so much money for calls when we could just set up a time to talk. I had ask him also not to spend the money for calling cards. We did this for 4 yrs!

In rare occasions if there was something that I just had to tell him or he had to tell me, then we would text msg.

One more thing....during our visa interview our phone chats were never brought up by the CO. We submitted emails instead. There was never a problem!

Perhaps this isn't for everyone, but it worked for us!

I'm vegetarian but will be making lamb chops for Wael for Eid. Christmas will be a standing rib roast and turkey.

We will celebrate Christmas as we have done for 3 yrs, beginning with putting the tree up on my birthday Dec 18!

He really gets into the spirit of the season and loves all that is Christmas.

Middle East and North AfricaProblems getting married in Egypt
We were married in '06 in Alexandria. I know shortly after the American Embassy changed their policy of giving the free to marry certificate.

The free to marry certificate was re-instated again in '07. The USC has go to the
American Service section and if you have been previously married you must have your divorce decree before they will issue your free to marry certificate.

The free to marry certificate has one side in english and the other in arabic. My hubby filled out the arabic side for me. Then we were called to one of the windows and they notarized the document.

Wael went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Alex to have them stamp the free to marry certificate.
We then had to get an appointment with the Ministry of Justice for our marriage. You both will need your ID's, the free to marry certificate, two male witnesses and pay the fees.

After your marriage call the embassy for an appointment to file your DCF petition.

One last thing....Wael had a home investigator sent by the embassy and he was concerned
if we had a wedding party. We did and he was satifised. I know of some cases that didn't have
a party and it didn't matter, but in our case the party was an important element for the embassy.

Latest creation, fresh green beans, sliced potatoes, a little onion and seasoning. I am at the cusp of creating all kinds of wonderful things. And mmmmm does it smell good when I do it! I bet I could a piece of fish in there and he will think I know what I am doing. And in the rice department, it is still a little crunchy, but I am getting the ratio of water/rice more consistent. smile.gif

Well it's been one heck of a Sunday for me!! I too had to go to the ER for all things a
kidney stone!! I was so miserable all afternoon, but once the pain meds thru the IV worked
I felt so much better. So our Sunday was in the ER for 6 hrs.

Annie I hope your MIL will be feeling better also. What is it about AZ today with ER visits?
