IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Spouse Visa for a Russian citizen	Hello Everyone! I have a question concerning a visa for my husband (as of one and a half weeks!). I am American, but my husband is Russian. He lives in Moscow, and I am currently studying in Canada. We got married here in Moscow, but only the ZAGs wedding. We are planning a second, church wedding in New York for next May. That will be the one for my family and friends. I have already reserved a reception venue and made arrangements with the pastor and the church for next May, so everything is set--except for my husband's visa. He has never been to the States, or out of the country in general, except to Turkey. He applied for a tourist visa once, but was denied. After the wedding, we are coming back to Moscow for one year, because I will be doing my graduate coursework in Mosocw. But after that year, we are planning on moving to the States. So the problem is, what type of visa should he apply for? With an immigration visa you have to spend more than half of the year in the United States, but we are coming back to Moscow after the wedding. So I was thinking that he needs a tourist visa, but I have heard that he is not guaranteed a tourist visa just because he is married to an American citizen, and that they may be suspicious that he will try to stay there on a tourist visa. I am really worried about the fact that he may be denied after I have made all the wedding arrangements there already. He really just needs to go over for 1-2 months, that's it. So is a tourist visa the best way to go? Besides the necessary documents, I guess I write him the invitation, and also I will try to provide a copy of the reception contract and a letter from the pastor. Unfortunately, I don't have any documentation from the graduate program yet, that would prove I'm coming back to Moscow. Has anyone had a similar situation? Any advice would be helpful, concerning type of visa, approximate processing times, how to improve his chances, and what's the possibility of him getting turned down? Thanks a lot! Alexandra Hello Alexandra,i guess it would be very hard to find such type of visa for your husband,since they always conect this to the possibility that he will stay there,and even if in Russian for some reaosn he could get this visa,there is not a garantee that in the airport he will be allowed to stay in your country,but you could try,who knows may be this day in teh embassy will work a nice person who could understand your situation... Oh,it is a pitty that they are so slow,i am just curious weather they have enough people to make this background checks,because seems that 1)that don't have enough people that do this job or 2)they don't care that couples are waiting. In both of this cases i guess they should have hire more people and especially those who is waiting for CR! don't make to wait longer then those who is making only a K1 It will be a year waiting for the noa2 aug 15. Just lots of rain and major winds. Here's an update for Marco Island: QUOTE 7:12 a.m. update The National Hurricane Center says the center of Tropical Storm Fay has made landfall just east of Marco Island. Winds continue at 30 mph with gusts upward to 40 mph. Police and fire-rescue personnel are reporting significant road flooding, according to city spokeswoman Lisa Douglass. The low lying areas are flooded on the south end of Marco Island near Swallow Avenue. Many roads are impassable. Storm debris is on many roads and there are power outages. From Lely to Marco on Collier Boulevard, the only traffic signal in operation was at U.S. 41 and Collier. The intersection of Barfield and Collier, which is the first light when entering the island from S.R. 951 was put in operation by emergency personnel shortly after 6 a.m. The Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge remained open this morning, though there was standing water near the bridge's south base. There are scattered palm fronds along portions of Barfield Drive. Also water was over the roadway on certain parts of Barfield Drive. Traffic lights are out at North Barfield at Collier Boulevard and South Barfield at San Marco Road. The city is working on providing updated information as the public safety and public works departments gather information. Since you did nothing wrong, it shouldn't slow your approval down. At least I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some good news for you and John really soon I just think the closer we get to the approval, the more we tend to think of stuff that can go wrong or delay us. I, for instance, feel like we are about to get an RFE for not sending 4 copies of our attachments, plus I don't think we signed the attachments in the first place . Krystle, what a neat coincidence . As USC, they do not care what vaccinations you have, it's all about your fiance. So don't stress about getting shots for yourself . Now for your fiance, usually medicals in Russia/Ukraine are taken either a day or several days prior to the interview. He can go and have his medical as soon as embassy receives your case and issues him a case number. Since he is applying for K1, his vaccinations do not have to be complete prior to arriving in America, though it is adviced he takes care of that stuff in Russia to save money/hassle for AOS. My doc told me I could get it too, but I think I had enough shots for a while. That tetanus-renewal did hurt for 5 days ... Besides that I've collected the certificates, photographs and all of the other stuff. I also had my diploma's translated. I'm not so happy with the translations, but it was done by an honoured translator, so I guess it's alright. This weekend I'm going to go through stuff-to-take-with-me and make an estimation of the volume, and have a price made to ship it. I am still going to workout 2-3 times a week, just to keep myself busy. I'm wicked tired btw ... think I need to catch some early zzzzzzzz's tonight! Girl, aren't u ahead of time! Great job, I still only have bits and pieces... At least I managed to send D. a very detailed list of docs to bring over when he comes to visit . Am still confused about all those vaccinations and which ones I need to get By the way, those of you ladies under 26 who might need HPV do some research online. I know it's a costly vaccine, but in some states/cities you can get it for free or under $20. Apparently there are many programs aimed at pelvic cancer prevention that offer Gardasil shots.
