Guys been reading about so many denials at the indian embassy. It's really scaring me now. I know ours is at the Bombay Embassy, but from what I reading they seem to be pretty harsh. I don't know what I would do if I get a denial. I was so confident before and this post really scared me.

http://www.visajourn...h...224586&st=0

Check it out!

You've already jumped through a million hoops. If they deny then you fight fight fight some more. Everything will be ok.

Thanks Jewel smile.gif rose.gif . The status of my case is that things are moving so quickly now. My fiance is suppossed to get his interview date this week, but after reading that post not feeling so confident about it now. Yeah, I know I could fight it and just get married, but we did the K-1 fiance as it is much more faster. To imagine after all this to wait some more is going to be excruciating. Maybe I will just move to India. I know I should be thinking positive, but after reading denials you can not help it.

All will be ok Star! Try not to stress yourself to much. Every case is different, and every consular that interviews you is different. The moving over part is mine and Damos backup plan. If for some strange reason we got denied I was going to move over and marry him and just file a k3 will over in australia and wait it out there. No more being seperated if this didnt work. But it will!

Ditto on the back-up plan...though I hope none of us have to resort. So I finally made it to the consulate! And they may be getting ready to process interviews again. Hopefully it's not the 6 month wait I was anticipating. I'll feel so much better when Adam receives Packet 3.

Still want to give a big "hang in there" to all still waiting for the d@mn NOA2. Keep on your patience and positive thinking. I know it's easier said than done, but I hate the thought of anyone distrought in the process, especially since we aren't out of the woods just yet. I find myself stressing more right now than I did with USCIS. Maybe because I think so much more can go wrong sad.gif Positive attitude!

You did not get your daily touch thats a good sign I bet you get your NOA2 Soon
Just think I got mine and they still haven't updated that website yet, nor did I ever get an e-mail or text message

11 approvals today at VSC ....that just drives me crazy. (And spare me the discussion of how it alternates every year... wink.gif ) It still drives me crazy ...when I feel like CSC is moving slower than a snails pace ...and we are jumping for joy when we see one approval a day. UGH.

Malarie....Any updates??? You have been pretty quiet. Hope all is well.

mad.gif

M, I'm so sorry you're so frustrated sad.gif I don't have any comforting words for you, or Malarie, or anyone else still waiting. I can say...like I said before...I've read some pretty horrible things about the Montreal consulte (how they're 6+ months out for an interview), and once you have your NOA2, I'm sure you'll sail through...at least I hope smile.gif Then it will be me who needs the support of this group when you're loved ones have come home and I'm still waiting for an interview. This process doesn't ever seem to let up on the nerves and stress. Just don't get too down!

good.gif Me Too!! Come one CSC Let this be the week!!! good.gif

Good Tuesday everyone! First, I'm putting all my positive thoughts with CSC for all those still waiting for NOA2s...this will be the week we all finish up smile.gif
So I left town Friday afternoon to drive to San Francisco for pre-wedding meetings with possible vendors. I know I should've been ecstatic, but I was pretty down. It seemed silly to be doing these things so early in the process...especially since the consulate is passing the 4 month expiration date for interviews by 2 months, making a total of six months before an interview. I checked my phone at the halfway point and noticed a missed text message. It was USCIS! All it said was that my status has been updated. I went to my email and saw USCIS said we had been approved! WooHoo! I called Adam and gave him the good news. He thought I was lying, trying to tease him wink.gif I had to hang up with him, send him the email and then call him back. When he answered the phone, he immediately said "Ok, I believe you now" smile.gif Because I was running around for the two days and driving the other two, all I had time to do was update my timeline. But I really wanted to take some time this morning and recognize the rest of July waiting for NOA2s and say hang in there!

That was such a nerve racking conversation.. but its all fixed now. ranting33va.gif

OMG that is awesome!!! Note to self, make sure they are sending to correct consulate biggrin.gif I wish that the UK embassy in Edinburgh was doing this app. Instead he has to go about 400 miles to London for it.

I guess 400 miles is a BIG deal when it's not US miles???

Yeah, I wish the embassy in Melbourne did them, but we have to fly to Sydney for our interview. So I get to spend 20 hours on a plane, rest for 2 days then fly to Sydney, do interview, fly back to Melbourne. rest for about a week, then its another 20 hour flight home. ugh. Always messes me up, takes me two days to get there, I usually leave on wednesday to get there on friday, then fly home on Sunday, flights usually leave Melbourne at 10:30 am and land in LA at like 9:15 am on the same day. Talk about jet lag, and they say time travel isnt possible lol.
When I took my first trip to see Damo, we went on a mini vacation down to see the 12 apostles. He told me how far it was and I was like, omg that is going to take us forever to drive there. lol, I wasnt thinking in Kilometers i was thinking in miles. Its like 1.6 kilometers to 1 mile. Then last night he started complaining on how he is going to have to learn the inches and miles conversion. How its not accurate that its just stupid, rolleyes.gif always something. haha.

Haha! I hear you on converting from metric to imperial systems smile.gif Adam is constantly giving me a hard time about how silly our system of measurement is and how metric "just makes sense" tongue.gif It took me a little while in the beginning to talk about weather on a celsius level. He'd say it's 23 degrees and I'd be thinking "BRRRR!!!", when really that's 73 degrees which is quite pleasant smile.gif

Anyone know how to get the call history on skype? I would like to show at the interview how much we call each other but dont know how to get it downloaded, blink.gif

I got mine by clicking view and then history. I copied and pasted into Word and printed from there. I'm not sure if there's a more "official" looking way to do it, but it's one way. Hope that helped at least a little.

Congrats! Its only Wednesday so I think we'll see alot more by Friday.

Has anyone tried calling NVC yet to see if they have your case? I made my first call today and they don't have it. Avg time from what I gather looking at timelines is about 2-3 days after the NOA2. So they should have Friday's approvals today or tomorrow. I'll try again tomorrow, hope it doesn't sit there for a month as I've seen happen to some people.

We have not tried calling yet but Wade told me he'd call them up sometime today and if we don't hear anything then, we'll just keep calling them until it shows up. Like you I don't want it to be caught up in the middle of the NVC process.

I just got home from my medical and it's approved! My vaccination program here in Norway was also sufficient so no need for extra shots. I'm happy biggrin.gif Now all we need is to see more approvals at CSC and it would be a truly awesome wednesday!

Congrats on your medical Kristin!!! I'm glad it went well smile.gif

Hang in their everyone. I know it sucks, really..we're all in the same boat. You'll get your approval soon, don't forget that just a few weeks ago our stuff wasn't even being looked at...now at least you know any day they can open your file and you'll have your approval.
Also, just because some have gotten approved already doesn't mean the whole process will be any quicker. Some may get a quick appointment at the embassy, some may have to wait 4-6 weeks for an appointment. I know Moscow is already booked until Nov 11th so by the time my application gets there we probably won't have an appointment until some time in December sad.gif
We're here and hoping everyone see's their NOA2 asap so we can all start worry about the next stage together smile.gif Misery loves company biggrin.gif

And its never too late to send the CSC some donuts wink.gif

I hear you on the embassy portion. With my NOA1 date pretty much at the end of July, I expect I'll be one of the last here to get my NOA2. With that said, I'm most certainly cheering everyone on smile.gif

We're hoping to be able to have our wedding in the second week of April, which you would think sounds pretty reasonable, but after checking on the Montreal consulate (who is about 90 days from interview notification to interview), it's looking pretty slim sad.gif

Jules, I'm sorry your feeling stress sad.gif Especially after such great news, but I also realize we aren't done...which calls for another sad face sad.gif

I had a similar question though. My fiance just moved into a condo he's been in the process of buying for the last four years. The builders finally finished it and he was able to move in this weekend. His previous address was his parents, which is what we listed on our forms. Can we leave the address as it is because he'll still get the mail? Or is it more a matter of where they currently reside? Hopefully we don't need to change his address because the mailboxes in his complex are still incomplete. Why can't things just be more seamless? Oh well...it would be life I suppose.

Goodluck finding the answer to your quesion though. If I could provide any insight that might ease your mind, I certainly would.

So.... I'm thinking Bachelorette Party in Vegas in December maybe. My sister and a few friends are definitely excited to go!! I bought a shirt that said "Buy me a shot I'm tying the knot." If anyone wants to meet up just let me know. I will have a Tshirt waiting for you as well. luv.gif

BTW, Men of Olympic Gardens - definitely on the list of things I want to see before I get married:D

Also, if anyone wants to meet up for a more conservative Vegas party in July 2010 let me know. We can start planning for that too. biggrin.gif

Vegas huh? It's close...major bonus smile.gif I never really entertained the idea of a list of things before I'm married. I guess I got too wrapped up in the technicals of the paperwork and waiting to have some fun with this process. My fiance is a huge fan of Vegas and asked if he could reserve the right to have his bachelor party after we're married. He wants to go to Vegas too, but knows we'll be kind of tight financially for a bit. I would love to be a fly on the wall with him and his friends in Vegas...I'm know they'll have a blast! I'm sure you will too! Enjoy Men of Olympic Gardens smile.gif Sounds fantastic! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy our time. We'll all get what we want before we know it, and we'll be able to look back on these experiences as a tiny blip of time in our lives.

My fiance was as estatic with the news of movement and approvals today as I was. We have a question we're hoping someone may have some experience with or knowledge of. He has a flight booked to visit November 10-15. If we are lucky enough to have our NOA2 by then, will we run into any problems with Customs officers? Or will he be admitted into the states for a short visit realitively easy? Will there be any mention of the K1 in petition attached to his passport? Do we need to mention it? Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks, Brooke and Adam

Speaking of middle eastern, I've been secretly paranoid that mine will take longer for the fact that even though my fiance is Canadian, his parents are originally from other countires. This makes me smile and I feel quite giddy. I feel like I've gone to an amusement park and I'm in line for the best ride they have, and just before it's my turn to ride, after already waiting a couple hours, it breaks down. I decide I want to ride bad enough, I'll wait it out. An hour goes by, still closed. Another couple of hours, nothing. Then finally, when you contemplate how much more can you handle, they fix the problem and you get your turn. The whole line cheers with excitement and relief. You ride and decide the wait was totally worth it. May be a bit silly, but I love that "ahhh" moment.

Actually he does take his skype phone to work with him lol. Him and I chat the whole time he is there. Its cool because I dont have a cell phone bill anymore, sure beats those 800 dollar ones i use to get. All free now!
His skype phone went offline the other night for about an hour and he started panicking lol. Im on the phone right now with him telling him about this conversation we are having. I only wish we had skype phones here in the us, but the big wigs would lose to much money on those international plans..... Oh wait, you can get the app for blackberry etc. hehe.
I usually take my laptop with me so i can chat to him anywhere on my wireless. Who needs a cell phone? lol. biggrin.gif

Adam and I always joke that if we won the lottery, we'd send a portion to Skype for making this long distance thing a little less painful. One really good thing about Skype - I've already acclimated to Adam's intense snoring so I won't be sleep deprived when he finally gets here! Hello Juliers! I ran across this site yesterday when my fiance and I were searching for some information. I found this topic and read from the beginning as to not repeat something already posted. Even though you don't know me, I feel I know you all pretty well. It is very comforting to know there are others in this same or substantially similar situation. Like others have said, my friends/family/co-workers are tired of my whining...not that I do that publicly too often wink.gif

My quick story...I met Adam in 2000 through work. My company had a Canadian client and he was my day-to-day contact. We developed a friendship through emails, telephone calls and postal packages. In 2002 he had planned a trip to San Francisco with a friend of his. As any secretly smitten girl would do, I invited myself smile.gif We had a fabulous weekend, but very shortly after going home we lost touch...we were both so young (I was barely 22 and he was almost 24). Anyhow, we reconnected late 2008 and picked up where we left off ever so quickly. We still had intense feellings for each other after all that time...even with all our life changes. The thought of actually ending up together seemed possible. It was so exciting to be so in love! It still is! I visited Toronto for the first time over my birthday in April. He visited me in Salt Lake for the first time over the 4th of July. We filed our I-129f July 24th with our NOA1 on July 28th. As per USCIS, we are in Initial Review...like the rest of you...but hopefully not too much longer smile.gif

I am thankful everyday that I have him in my life and I'm soooo excited for our future! On another note, I'm becoming increasingly impatient and slightly pessemistic. Trying to live our lives, plan for change, monetary need, a wedding...

Hopefully you'll all allow me to join your waiting room. I could use some company.

Good luck to everyone! Almost October 1st. I really hope someone here hears something soon!

Welcome!!! I'm also from SLC and sent in our app a week before you. The one good thing we have on our side.. weddings can be thrown together quickly here biggrin.gif It's not unheard of for two people from SLC to meet and be married within 6 months, and usually it's only 2 months from the ring on the finger to walking down the aisle. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Utah is an odd place, but it is home!!! Are you planning to settle in Salt Lake? I am in Davis County, but work up by the U.

- Julie

Julie - I saw there was a fellow Utard here (Adam thinks he's hilarious when he refers to me that way...he'll be one soon too though...whose laughing now!). Very true about weddings in this state! However, we plan on getting married in San Francisco. Since we met in person there for the first time, and he doesn't have any family here, it only feels right. We plan on starting out here, but who knows where we'll end up. I live in SL County (Sandy) and work relatively close to home. How about you two? Are you planning on staying here?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly 2009 Filers

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 11, I-134...HELP
In preparation for our interview, I'm completing the I-134 (Affidavit of Support) and am confused as to how to answer question 11: I "intend" or "do not intend" to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3. I reviewed the sample form, but I don't understand why it states I don't need to answer this for a K1. The I-134 filing instructions don't say anything about that question not being completed simply due to me filing a K1. Can anyone here opine? How did you fill yours out? I don't even know that I understand the meaning of either option. I would assume I "intend"...right?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDOS Phones

It was busy for about 5 minutes this morning when I called the National Visa Center if that is what you mean by Department of State.

Yeah, NVC...DOS...202-663-1225 I don't get any busy signal or dial tone...it's just air, almost like I didn't complete the number. Oh well, I guess I'll try this afternoon or wait until tomorrow.

Has anyone else tried calling DOS today only to find the line is blank? It won't ring or anything when I call. Very strange.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of consent help, please!
Ooops! I just noticed I forgot to remove "not accompanied by or joining either parent" from my sample consent letter. I combined language I found from a few samples...and can't seem to edit that post.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of consent help, please!
Also, someone mentioned a bit ago in another thread that they obtained a Certificate of Non-Marriage (from Manitoba?), as they were never married and had no legal evidence of custody arrangements, as there weren't any.

I thought I would help you out and called Alberta Registries, Vital Statistics in Edmonton at Tel: (780) 427-7013 to ask if they have similar certificates available. She said they do not offer a cert of non-marriage, but they will do a serch for marriage over a specified 3 year time period. If no marriage license found, that's what the search will state. Granted this is just for Alberta and only over a three year period. The cost is $40 ($20 to govt, $20 to agent) and takes approx. 5 business days to process once form received, then mail time. You can print the form at http://servicealbert.../vs/REG3023.pdf. Again, this doesn't exactly state you have custody, but may be somewhat helpful, in conjunction with a more specific notarized letter from the father, in getting your visas approved.

Best of luck to you both...really!!! :)

Ali,

Here's my input for what it's worth. I would re-word the letter to something like I've posted below. Of course I would have this notarized.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I, (FULL NAME OF FATHER), BIOLOGICAL FATHER OF (FULL NAME OF CHILD), DO HEREBY GIVE MY WRITTEN CONSENT for her to immigrate to the United States of America as a K2 visa holder, accompanying her biological mother, (FULL NAME OF MOTHER), as a K1 visa holder, with intent to become a citizen of named country.

This Letter of Consent is being issued this ____ day of _______________ 2010 at (PLACE OF ISSUE) in compliance with immigration requirements for unmarried minors immigrating to the United States of America not accompanied by or joining either parent.

Your situation is definitely not favorable. I'm sorry for the headache. I'd be more pissed about the duplication of processing fees than anything else. Like another poster stated...it's too bad they can't just schedule you out for another 9 months so you don't have to repay. Best of luck!

I wonder if my fiance's congressman/senetor is useful at all.
If I dont hear anything by the exact 3 month mark on the day my case was logged, they're getting a nice nasty call from him.
Or whatever he can do, I'll make him go in person if I have to.

*sigh* I wonder if I should tell him to come visit me again, since we probably wont be seeing eachother for a while.

I've been wondering about that too Rhiann... if interviews for us are starting to look like they won't be until Feb/March, then there's no f'ing way I'm waiting that long to see my fiancé. This is STUPID.

I can't write that letter tonight, because I'm too upset about that and some other things going on right now. I was wondering though if anyone would be willing to post their letters? We can feed off each other's ideas maybe. I dunno...

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to start my letter without sounding like a jerk laughing.gif

I found where someone faxed their "Approval Notice" and a cover letter to Montreal. The cover letter reads:

On Month Day, Year the CSC approved our I-129f petition. As of Today's Date, Name (my fiancée) has not yet received an interview date from the Montreal Consulate.

Fiancé’s Name and mailing address is:

*(my full address and phone number here)*

Our I-129f expires Month Day, Year. We would very much appreciate if you would schedule an interview for Name as quickly as possible to give him/her sufficient time to make necessary arrangements for the interview before the I-129f expiry date.

Sincerely,

Hopefully some of this helps at least a little. I know I'll be writing as soon as it's with Montreal!
