K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresofficially how long does an embassy have to act on a k1 visa?

I've done this 3 times and never had a problem, they have always been quick, but then I am always well prepared and I make sure my girl is well organized. This is the last time I will do this.

You must have made a mistake along the way, but still it shouldn't take this long. I would think since your girl is in Iran, not many people marry an Iran girl, so the embassy should be empty. I didn't even know we had an embassy in that country.

All I can think of is, you can write a letter to the Immigration in America and ask them what is the problem.

there is no embassy in iran since 1979,all people from iran must go to the american embassy in the uae, this is just part of what makes it very very annoying when they keep you in the dark, she has to fly to another country just to go to the embassy

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresofficially how long does an embassy have to act on a k1 visa?
I know this info is here some where but I still find this site confusing, please forgive me but my question is once a k1 is approved and sent to the embassy how long do they have before they must act on the case?,my girl was approved, her papers were processed at the embassy in abu dhabi on 15th of april 2009,she went for her interview on july 6th 2009 but was given the blue slip, since then we have provided them with all the info the blue slip asked for and as of now we still wait for our number to come up,I thought I read some where that the case has to be dealt with by them within a certain amount of time,I thought it was 12 months, that 12 month period is almost on our doorstep as today is the 19th of january 2010,do you think they could be waiting until the last moment to see if we are going to give up or somthing?both of us were so nieve about the whole process and now it feels like were getting bent over a barrel  am I way off base on the 12 month time frame thing?I know they have to deal with it at some time, they can't just let it hang forever can they??? :crying: thanks for any help everyone

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstill in ap,planning another trip
well me and my fiance are still in ap,it will be one year as of july 6 that she went for interview in abu dhabi and recieved blue slip,we constantly write and email the embassy for news but always the same reply"your case is still under review :( ",we are so tired of being apart we plan to see each other soon in germany,it will be such a relief to hold my wife in my arms again yet only for a little while,it will give us an opurtunity to get lots more pictures to send to the embassy,I hope this nightmare of waiting comes to and end soon,I just don't understand why this has taken so long,I get the feeling they think we are not serious or somthing and it really makes us so mad,I wait for 20 years to finally meet the girl I want to marry and we have to go thru all this hell,is it just me or does the visa immigration process seem like utter kaos to anybody else also?,I have this horrible picture in my mind of a cluttered up office with papers scattered about with peoples lives depending on those papers just being thrown about, lost, put in the trash, when I call the embassy they always seem rude and confused,I have no faith in this process, only faith in god because he is the only one who is going to help us,please keep us in your prayers, some times the days seem so long and the nights so dark, bless all those in love who are going thru this same dilema.

Thanks everyone, I will definitely call and ask customs. I am not sure if she transfers at LAX or SFO.

I'll be sure to let her know to bring a letter from work, a letter from her landlord, and whatever else she has for proof then.

I would hate for her to get denied, this is an important trip and her parents are paying.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFlight transfer in US while waiting on K1
I tried to search for an answer to this question, but was unable to find one.

My fiancée currently lives in Canada, I am in the US. She wants me to go with her to Japan, to visit her parents.

For us to be able to fly together, she would need to make a flight transfer in California. Will she have trouble since we applied for the K-1?

She said she has to go through customs when she changes flights. We are both worried they will give her trouble.

Thanks.

Well, after 11 months it's done, made it through the usics mailing our papers to the nrc, instead of the nvc, and not being able to find them for three months, kept tellin me wait, wait. Thank goodness for congressman Larson, when his office called, all of a sudden, oh ya, here they are lol. I am flying back from china tomorrow, knowing that for the first time in a year and a half, my fiance will be following shortly hereafter. I am loaded down with gifts from her folks, 4 different teas, yet a third tea set, a tea tray, a Chinese dinnerware set, last time it was tea, sausages, and tea pots lol. I am so happy, and ty VJ, and VJers, for all the support, and good will. As Jingmin says, she will be in my side forever, stuck on me lol. Peace, and may all your journeys, end in love.

There are many documents that are required and the application must be prepared correctly. But this report is very encouraging."
Has anyone heard anything similar to this?

I have not heard of such a report, but it is nice that you have. The anecdotal "evidence" I will add is that I see more and more Pinays here on VJ reporting 5 min interviews at USEM that are all reporting visa approval. I'm not used to seeing so many of these reports before.

For what it's worth...

QUOTE (Dakine @ Nov 17 2009, 12:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes...contact the consulate and also contact NVC, and USCIS to make sure your withdrawal of support for the petition is recorded.

Send notarized letters cancelling the petition and move on.

No need for notarization. Simply compose a brief letter explaining what happened (one page is fine) and sign and date. Then send the letter to USCIS, NVC, and Embassy. You cannot "cancel" a petition that has already been approved. You tell them that your petition has been "abandoned" and that you are now "withdrawing" your affidavit of support.

Then in the future when you find a serious fiancee, you can use above letter to be construed as a request for IMBRA waiver, and avoid a delay in filling out a waiver form.

I know of where you speak. It's a bummer. Better Luck next time. You are now all the wiser for it.

If you look at the OP's profile, there is ZERO information about ANYTHING and NO timeline as well.

Why anyone would want to respond to that is beyond me.

Look at how long he/she/it has been a member...

Look at how many posts (2 in last 6 months but 10 pages of posts that can't be viewed).

No disrespect to anyone, but this looks to me like "enabling."

(from wikipedia)

Enabling is a term with a double meaning.[1]
As a positive term, it references patterns of interaction which allow individuals to develop and grow. These may be on any scale, for example within the family,[1] or in wider society as "Enabling acts" designed to empower some group, or create a new authority for a (usually governmental) body.
In a negative sense, enabling is also used in the context of problematic behavior, to signify dysfunctional approaches that are intended to help but in fact may perpetuate a problem.[1][2] A common theme of enabling in this latter sense is that third parties take responsibility, blame, or make accommodations for a person's harmful conduct (often with the best of intentions, or from fear or insecurity which inhibits action). The practical effect is that the person themselves does not have to do so, and is shielded from awareness of the harm it may do, and the need or pressure to change. It is a major environmental cause of addiction.[3]

Sure you can block it out, but I think any person who reads it could use context clues to figure out what you blocked out. Its up to you, but if you submit those e-mails you need to make sure you and you fiance can handle the potential consequences (denial of K1, many more months of separation, cost of traveling to her country and getting married there, reapplying for spousal visa). Or you could NOT submitt them and then you don't have to worry about those things.

Many people black out the "naughty parts" of letters. So if you black out some parts of your letters with WIFE in it, it wont be something the CO hasnt seen B4.

Hey Paul,

You can order the NSO Birth Cert and CENOMAR for her online here:
https://www.ecensus.com.ph

You can "order" it but it seems difficult to actually pay for it online if you are overseas from what the payment methods they accept online.

What I did was order it for my girl, then I sent her the email with the order info, She then printed the email and took it to BDO and paid for it. About 10 days later or so they delivered it to her door.

You wanted to know the costs, you can see the costs as you place the order. I ordered two copies of CENOMAR and it was around 830p. You can order only one copy if you want of course. I think birth certificates are about the same cost.

Be careful that all the info you enter online is correct as far as her mother's maiden name, middle names, etc so the info will be printed and researched correctly.

I hope that helps you smile.gif

DON'T DO THIS. JUST HAVE YOUR GIRL FALL IN LINE AT LOCAL NSO/NBI OFFICE. ITS VERY CHEAP.

We don't know what country is involved, but no matter. Even a teenager is a child, compared to a middle aged man. Not for us to judge, however.

It's not a matter of judging. Not even in the discussion here. It's a matter of LAW and WHERE the boundary line is. Too young is too young. Do you get it?

My son's ex- track coach went to prison for 5 1/2 years for exactly that. He was 47.
http://www.heraldtri...NEWS/611150437/

Tom, thanks for acknowledging my point, and yes, the middle-aged coach sex scandal stories are bountiful. I can't believe that I was going to be the only one identifying that the minor girl's underage status WILL BE a MAJOR obstacle to getting this visa approved. With all the strong and coordinated, cooperative international emphasis now against (child) sex tourism, the minor's extremely delicate age will SURELY be raised at time of embassy interview, and will likely trigger a Stoke's Proceeding looking at their timeline.
Perhaps the parents are even "selling their child" into a slavery arrangement. Shocking, but there are no shortage of such stories either. We don't allow 48 year old men to bang 16 and 17 year olds and then sanction the relationship as a 'legitimate' boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement. And no one can show me a persuasive law or argument to the contrary, even if it goes back to 600AD. laughing.gif

Automatic date stamps on fotos are nice but not necessary. We all know that one can make that date read any date you want. It looks nice and professional, though. I like to write the date, place and event with metallic permanent pens on each evidence foto, and it gives it a personal touch. Fotos are secondary evidence. It is your passport, plane tix and hotel receipts and such that place you together in a given location, so don't sweat it, you will be fine. It's also nice to get boat, bus, air travel tix and receipts that have both your names on them Cheers and happy LDR.

Like you said, this is a personal matter, so why don't you ####### off if you have nothing positive to add. If you chose to "instruct your now wife where to sign" and she didn't get involved, that is your story.

To the OP: indeed, you can tell your fiancee to register on VJ and get her questions answered as well.

Great Mary Mother of Gawd, Len. It is Christmas Eve for crying out loud. Take a powder and count your many blessings in life!

May I suggest, if you're into saving money, taking a digital photo on a white background & using some online FREE service to print them as passport photos. I used www.portraitbooth.com and got 6 passport photos (on a 4x6 page) from the site. It was $0.19 to print at Walgreens, double the price if you want 12 photos.

This sounds like a cool idea. However, when you are in the phils, most everything is dirt cheap, including the OFFICIAL 2x2 pics. The studio where we went had official embassy specifications and directions as how to take the photo, and it was kind of a big deal. The ladies have to wear a collared shirt and have royal blue background for the Phil. passport, and they have everything there, and you KNOW itzallgood and correctly done. But good luck with the DYI immigration pics if you take that route. star_smile.gif

thank you so much for that! me and my fiance are very much relieved. we were already going crazy over that one small and simple thing messing up our petition and making it longer for us to be together.

I stressed over the passport photo thing, too. What we did is get 10 fotos (2x2) on royal blue background and 10 fotos on white background. The fotos are so cheap at the foto studios in the Phils. It seems you end up needing more of them than you think, and she just always took them all with her, so for the petition package, SLMEC, USEM interview, CFO, you will have fotos for all this plus the spare copy of the packet both you and your petitioner should keep on hand for reference. Congratz on filing. Next up, NOA1!

It would be very interesting to learn of what cultures ban the man and woman meeting ahead of the wedding day as this is a relatively rare occurrence as seen on vj. I don't think many of us here know much about these types of traditions. We wish you the best in your vj.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI am currently with my fiance, is there anything we should make sure we do before I leave?
Go online and fill out/print out the G-325A Biography forms and sign them. Make up a brief intent to marry within 90 days of his arrival form, print out and sign. No notarization needed. Take them with you and submit with the I-129F packet, and that puts you ahead of the game! Congratz, he is a great guy and real latin lover! star_smile.gif
