K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about fiancee visa lots of stamps

Anyway I went through a tough emotional divorce from May 07 to Dec07.I filed for divorce in sept 07; my lawyer settled the case on 3/6/07. I have my divorce papers stating that I am divorce and single. ...

First off, why the double post in the same forum?

Secondly, your dates seem a little messed up.. December 2007 hasn't even happened yet.

Thirdly, not mentioning specific names of friends in your description is not an issue. It should be fine. Providing evidence that you two have met and are in a relationship is important though.
So, if you filed your K1 with no date inaccuracies, I'm sure you'll be ok.

relax

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a questions: resident address diff. from address using, employer info, and "other names used"

Also, if I can't remember the addresses and exact months of all the employers I've had the last 5 years (going back to college when I had small jobs that were formal so therefore had W-2s, but can't remember the specifics), what should I do? I am a fairly good record keeper, but this is not an example of that.

Approx months are fine..

Just to update this forum, I've travelled twice to the US since this post and didn't really have too many issues..

First time: looked at all my travel info with school statements and return flights etc

Second time: little more thorough.. plus an x-ray of my luggage at the peace bridge border (via greyhound!) and 10 mins each of conversation with two officers

Unless you seemed suspicious, I don't think they'd deny a random person at the border... You'd have to be acting strangely or said something odd or they found something in your stuff...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan you travel to the US while K1 is processing?

One of the other documents I brought along with my proof of ties to Canada was a photocopy of the K-129f/K-1 package and receipts. The first time I was pulled into secondary I was actually going to the Detroit airport to pick up my fiance who was visiting me and I didn't have my package of proof with me. Fortunately I did have a print out of his flight information, so they let me go through on the proviso that I stop back in at US immigration after I picked him up at the airport to tell them I was leaving the country. (You can be sure we did that!). The second time I was pulled into secondary they were going through all of my proof very carefully then came across the copy of the application. They looked through the copy, then handed me back my package of proof and let me continue on my way. I am confident that having proof that we were going through the proper immigration process along with the proof of existing ties to Canada helped reassure the immigration officers that I was not an immigration threat on that visit. Be well prepared and you should be fine. Be sure to include a copy of the wedding information with your proof of ties for this visit.

What do you mean proof of wedding information? I just got engaged like a month and a half ago and since I'm trying to finish up my degree, I don't really have any *wedding proof* as yet.. (you mean like invitations etc?)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan you travel to the US while K1 is processing?

Out of curiosity, why do you guys think this is necessary? Does an additional level of questions come up if you say you are visiting your fiance compared to just saying you are visiting a friend? My GF has only been over twice, but they never ask her anything. Now I'm worried about trying to bring her down here during the K-1, but I really need to so she can help approve wedding stuff.
Plus we don't wanna get a letter from her employer because we aren't going to tell them she's leaving until we get the visa. Otherwise she might get laid off =/

I was just wondering, cuz I wasn't sure if now when they scan your passport at the border if anything comes up under your profile once you file for the K1.

I'm sure it won't be a huge difference to usual, but I do plan to bring school schedules and everything..

Hey,

I'm supposed to attend my fiancee's brother's wedding in May. Am I going to be allowed across the border while my K-1 is in process?

I've only received the NAO1 yesterday.. and the wedding is in 2 weeks!
Am I going to be permitted across the border?!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian Fiancee to visit during filing process

if she doesn't have proof of ties to canada (showing the immigration officer that she will still return to canada b/c of unfinished business), she could very likely be turned away..
as far as insurance goes, people either go under their SO's plan or get their own..

When she has visited previously she has simply shown her passport and come on through. Mind you, this is in a car -- she drives to Detroit and flies from there. I am wondering mostly how much she needs to disclose. I don't mean that she intends to lie, just omit that we have filed for the K-1.. saying, "I am visiting for pleasure for 120 days to see my boyfriend." Does the USCIS frown upon this?
As for the insurance, I have a group plan where I work, but I don't really think they would insure my fiancee?
Can anyone recommend a decent short-term plan for visitors?
Thanks again,
Jonathan

Is she going to have a return ticket? (also might want to look into refundable tickets in case you have a problem)
PS they may give her a hard time at the border too b/c she doesn't have a job and it'll look like she's just kinda doing nothing for the next few months.. and obviously she doesn't have anything keeping her really in canada. You might try getting letters / statements from her family in canada with contact numbers and stipulating when they expect her back and so on..

I think it will shorten the CSC time some and lengthen the VSC time - meaning they'll be about the same. Which is actually the way it should have been all along.

I was so glad to be going through VSC

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp with border control?
ya, but just because Canada shares a border with the US doesn't mean they just wave us across the border..

quite the contrary..

My luggage gets tested for explosives almost every visit, I almost always get about 10 mins of questioning at the border.. and this last trip.. I got a nice feel-down from a female officer that really wasn't called for considering I walked through the metal detectors with no problem. They actually pointed to me in the line (pre-metal detector) and said "do secondary on her"..

you just always need to be prepared

and my frequency of visits hasn't changed from pre-filing to post-filing..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP! Letter of engagement, AOS, SO MANY QUESTIONS

Hello everyone,

My name is Devan, and I am 22 years old. I have been in Thailand for almost seven or eight months now. I met my girlfriend (she is from Thailand) around seven and 1/2 months ago, and we are just now starting to put all our stuff together for our K-1. I am leaving back to America (aug. 10th) and am just NOW starting to organize and get together all the documents, etc.! Yes, idiot I know.
Anyways, I have so many questions as I have never done anything like this before, and I am sure some of these questions are kind of dumb as well. I am at the beginning of the timeline, so I am still filing my I-129F form.
Ok, first I have no job, and have barely any money in my bank, as I am still just a college student. I will probably have a job starting OCT. or so but until then, nothing.
So therefore, can your parents be co-sponsors? Also, can a friend be a co-sponsor as well? Is there a minimum you have to have in the bank in order to qualify for this, or do they just want to see that you have money coming into the acct. on a regular basis, because if this is the case I could sponsor myself.

OK question 2. What the heck is a letter of engagement??!!

Question 3- I see everywhere AOS, NOA, NOA2, and WSC and TSC... I am sorry this is such a stupid question but I really have no idea.
All I know is I am starting on the I-129f packet and am alrady stuck!
Thanks a lot!!!

Educate yourself as best you can. I have found every answer I needed on V J & so can you.
The hardest thing you will have to know is Embassy definition of "Strongest Ties". If you dont understand exactly about that point you will never recieve visa.
I speak from a lot of experiance on this. I learned the hard way .
Your money issues will come into play later. Anyone can be your co-sponser. You must have enough money to take care of her for 5 years above the current poverty line.
The 129 f will take a long time. Look at the V J timelines & learn to believe in them.
Question 3? What is your question? If you are not clear I doubt people will be able to help you.
To accomplish what you want you will have to do the work.
AOS- Adjustment of status
NOA- notice of approval
NOA 2 second notice

Hey everyone,

I am not sure if there has been a post about this or not, although I am sure there has been but how much, from start to finish for the K1 Visa are all the fees?
Like, I understand to process the I-129f fiancee petition thats a 455.00 USD fee, but how about every other fee from there to when the visa is in hand.
I am just trying to get an idea of how much my girlfriend and I should expect to pay on all this.
Thanks so much guys!

Medical costs vary but the only fee you'll pay directly to the government is $100 for the visa fee and maybe a few bucks for delivery of the visa package.

After the visa and marriage in the US, the fee to adjust status is $1010.

Hey thank you very much for the response.
So besides the initial 455.00 I-129f fee we shouldnt be expecting to pay much after that except for the medical and police report fees?
Thank so much

And a hundred bucks for the visa plus, a grand for AOS, yeah.

I hope you have taken into account the fees charged by NVC. You can find them here on V J or the NVC site.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed urgent Help

hrt4u2c,

Please review AFQuaid's post history, there are 17 pages and contain a wealth of information for people traveling/meeting with disabilities. You may also find their website to be of some use. They met, applied for the K1, married and are currently in the AOS process.

OP, that's exactly the case I was referring to. They were forced to travel and meet in person despite both being wheelchair bound - their waiver of meeting requirement was denied.
