Whenever you see a question on a form, take it literally and answer it accurately. Questions about children are asked on more than one form and in more than one format. When asked to list all children, list them all. When asked to list all umarried children under 21 don't list any married children or children over 21. When asked to list children immigrating with you, only list the children immigrating with you. The questions are asked for diffrent reasons. Answer them.

Exactly correct.

I think the children issue is often overlooked here and it adds twists to the process. We have two children involved in our case and to complicate things one came with us and the other will come this summer. I was going to give a longer and more confusing answer, but Pushbrk is very concise, answer the question exactly as asked. If a child is not listed and you decide to add them later, big problem.

OK THANKS, ILL LIST ALL CHILDREN ON L-129F , THEN ILL BE COVERED

From what I've read that might be too much lol. They've always said "save something for the interview!"

I still wrote a whole page... just no super details just visits and dates and proposal date and how we communicated during times apart.

OK, BUT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL READ IT IF I SEND IT? THEY STILL WILL HAVE THE ONE SHEET WITH JUST THE DATES OF PICTURES ECT? IT SEEMS MORE PERSONAL TO ME,(MAYBE IM JUST TOO SENTIMENTAL) TO TELL THEM MY WHOLE STORY WITH ATTACHMENTS FOR PROOF

Don't worry, I'm very sentimental too haha. Ummm... I guess they would read it all. I'd try to shorten it though, maybe to at least less than two whole pages. I'm sure some real veterans here can give you better advice.

But remember, all they are asking is where, when, and how you two met in person and if it was in the past 2 years.

I put some details just to make it seem A LITTLE more personal, it made me feel better that I'm trying to let them at least know that there's a genuine human being behind all those papers tongue.gif

OK THANKS,,, ILL TRY TO SHORTEN IT..

I have wondered about this before when reading other peoples posts. What do you guys think? If someone lived somewhere illegally and left the country without the authorities ever noticing that they were living there illegally...do they need to get a police certificate? I'm just asking because it is something that has come up before on other posts and I have never heard of a straight answer. What do you think?

I guess this would not work as he would have to show his valid passport at his interview and I suppose he has an entry stamp for Spain and then another one for when he would leave the country?
I don't know, I'm for the straight forward and the ethics. Why would you risk your petition being denied because of a silly lie, or even, harm yourselves because of that?
Having your fiance in Brazil would make things much easier, believe me, then you guys can work things from there.

how do I update this piece of information with the immigration office?

USCIS will not call... consulate won't unless there is a problem

So how do I update fiancee's phone with USCIS to make sure they have the right phone number if they need to call? application forms are with the USCIS currently and not with the consulate yet.

Let me reiterate... The USCIS will NOT call...

what about the consulate? if they need to call which number will they use? is it the one I put on G325A forms? that's the one which is no longer working because fiancee phone got stolen.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about employment?
Yes I am the beneficiary. My fiancee (the USC) is making more than the povery line. I was just wondering if they might think it's a problem if I don't have a stable income. Do you think it will be enogh if I show bank statements that I have savings but no income? As I already said I had a denial on a tourst visa just after I graduated when I wanted to visit my fiancee. They said I don't have strong connections or something with my home country?!?!?
I am afraid this might be a problem again. I don't really understand why money are really an ussue. Seriously. When I was interviewed there was a girl who was going to the states just for shopping.????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about employment?
I have a question/problem. I am not employed and I am a little bit worried about the interview for K1 visa. I read the VJ wiki and the questions they might ask me at the interview and one of the questions is 'what do you do for living?" well it might be strange but I don't work. I help my mom at her job but I don't have any documents for being employed and so on. Do you think that might be a problem? Do you think I should get hired and any job just for the document that shows I receive any kind of income? I just graduated my university and I haven't really looked for a job.The money are not really an issue but I have a denial of a tourist visa because of not being employed and now I am wondering if they will make it a problem again.

Any thoughts or suggestions are wellcome
Thanks

NO. You did not live here for more than one year, continously.

K-1 applicants are required to get police certificates from any country that they've lived in for at least six months.

A US police certificate is not required no matter how long the beneficiary has stayed in the Country ...see this link for more information.

So my question is do I need to get some kind of police cerificat from there or this is part of their security checks? I am asking because the instructions says that if I lived abroad for more than 1 year I need a police record from there. Sorry if the question is silly but really have no idea what to do.

You are lucky.

You need to get married and get a copy of the marriage certificate, and take some extra pictures and get a bank account in both of your names, put the electric bill and phone bill in both names, maybe get a joint credit card account

and get a social security # after 2 weeks

How long have you been waiting? It used to be 3 months, but the site says 6 months now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVFS Mumbai - Packet 4 Submission
VFS asked her to bring the following on the day of interview:
Original Appointment Letter
Passport
K1 Visa Application Fee (Rs 5,240 DD)
VFS Receipt (contains list of docs submitted prior to interview)
Evidence of Relationship (phone logs/e-mails/letters/photos/boarding passes/petitioner's passport copy/receipts etc)
Originals of all documents that you have submitted

Why VFS did not accept the proof of ongoing relationship? I am not sure how it works in Mumbai VFS? but I have submitted all the documents at Delhi VFS including proof of relation ship (tel logs, emails, chats, boarding passes and pictures etc). I read some where on the VJ if the CO does not have enough proof of relationship before the interview, it may adversley effect his decission because most of the documents are reviewed by some one else prior to interview, a lot of decission has been made by the time file gets to CO's desk. I understand some times VFS is very adamant and refuses to take all the evidence which they have done to us but we insisted that they should accept it. You still have a time to submit, insist that they should accept. Good luck for interview.

Try and get certified copies to send to your fiance.
Hard to certify something without the original, the person certifying the copy needs to see the original in order to certify the copy.

I had an agency helping me and they said to send original signatures. All of the forms are typed. Do you think I could just sign and date them again and have my fiance sign and date them again since all of the info is typed except the date and signatures?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresaffidavit of support
When you submit the affidavit of support, how many years of tax returns do you need to include? I have heard that it is a good idea to include the past three years returns. Since I have spent so much time overseas with my fiance these past three years, my income from those time periods do not meet the requirements. I just started a new job this year, and my annual salary would be in the mid 20s. I believe my current salary would be enough, but I'm not sure of the present income requirements. I plan on getting a letter from my employer, but his interview is in April, so it would only show that I've been earning my present income since the beginning of this year. Should I get a co-sponsor? What are the requirements for a co-sponsor?

Hello to all,

I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with. I submitted a K1 petition on behalf of my fiance, who lives in Ghana, and his interview is in April. I just need to know what are the most important proof of relationship documents that are required. We have a variety of documents (a few letters, pictures, phone records, but mostly e-mails) that span from 2006, when we first met, to present. Do the officers put more weight to certain documents than others? How much should we submit? I am thinking to print every e-mail and phone record that we have, as well as copies of all our letters and pictures, but I'm just not sure of how much is enough. Any advice anyone can give would be wonderful. Thank you!

P.S. I forgot to mention that I do have evidence of my trips to Ghana, the first in 2006, when we met, and in 2007 and 2008. I have copies of all my boarding passes and iteneries (sp?). We only have about 5-6 good pictures of ourselves together because we had camera issues and we just didn't focus on taking a lot of pictures. Will this be a problem?

Any suggestions on other important proof of relationship documents would be great!

My most recent trip was from June to September 2008. We have only three pictures from that trip.
Since I came back, we have kept in contact through e-mails mostly and have called each other mostly using phone cards. We will make a point to send more real letters and cards, though.

I wouldn't send letters just for proof - that seems fake. You don't need a lot of pictures, but it'd be good to show pictures from over the years. We sent only 6 pictures with our initial package. The reason I showed my scrapbook is because the CO asked....but I made it because I wanted to.
I know a girl who took like 50+ pics to the same interviewer that I had. He didn't want to see all of them.
The CO was interested in my husband's city so I think he was curious....

I think the best proof is that I went to the interview w/ hubby. Can you do that?

I wish I could, but at that point I will be about 32 weeks pregnant, and I don't think it would be safe for me to travel. I would give anything to be there with him so that we could prepare for this together, but I just don't see that happening at this point.

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 interview
I am fairly new to this website and was reading through the K1 guide, which recommended that the fiance take a complete copy of the K1 petition to the interview. I filed our petition in June and used a visa service to prepare the petition, but they did not recommend that I make a copy before it was submitted (they compiled everything that I submitted to them, all we had to do was sign). My question is, is it really necessary to have the complete copy taken to the interview? I do have copies of most of everything that was in the petition (passport pages, travel proofs, affidavit promising that we would marry within 90 days, pictures of us together) but not the bigraphical forms that we had to sign (the G forms), since the service I hired completed those for us. I wish that I had found this website earlier. I think I could have done everything myself if I had had this information before.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 interview
I wish that I had known all of this before. I just was so intimidated by the whole application process that I hired the service because I feared that I would mess something up and experience a lot of delays as a result. My experience with them has been fair, mostly because of the advice and feedback they have given me. But you are right, all they did in terms of the actual petition was type the required forms for me. I will definitely call and request a copy of the petition. Thank you so much for your advice.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresExtension of K1 approval
I need help! I just realized that the approval for my K1 petition expired yesterday. I knew the expiration was coming up soon, but had the dates confused. My fiance's interview is not until April 20. I just e-mailed the Embassy to ask for an extension, but is it too late, since the petition actually expired yesterday? Would they have automatically extended it without me requesting that? I am freaking out because I can't believe I made this mistake! Please help.
