Weed only stays in your system for 10 days if you don't smoke it everyday, but if you smoke it everyday then it can take up to 3 to 4 weeks or longer to leave your system.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS embassy in Ghana

I thought that email address was for the nonimmigrant visa. And this is the immigrant visa situation. I have sent numerous emails. I will try again to both, however when i view theembassy info on this site, it states that they can go pick up package 3 and 4 at the same time but only on wednesdays, and it may take 8 hours to get it. but i will see if i can get the appointment letter first. So are you saying they will give him an appointment letter once I email them and let them know this?

Yes, first the letter will say that they mailed an appointment letter out to your fiancee on such & such a day, but whatever. Then the letter will say, if he hasn't received it, he can report to the embassy on any business Wednesday to pick-up packet 3 & 4. It will tell him that he must show the letter to the officer when he arrives at 7:30 in the morning. When he gets there in the morning the officer will take the letter, and tell him to have a seat outside with everybody else until 2:00pm. Them at 2:00pm someone will come outside to get everyone, and explain to them that someone in the states has petition for them and will give each person their packet, which should have there interview date inside. Everything will sound so great until they open up there packets and see the interview dates, then all hell will break loose. Best of luck to you guys because it's a long journey.

Unless it has changed, your fiance will get the packet 3 and 4 together with the interview date. Make sure that the medical and police certificate are as close to the interview as possible. Good luck.

The wait time for an interview in Ghana for a K-1 is about 12-13 months from initial filing. For the CR1 its over 18 months from filing to interview. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Take a look at the guides (http://www.visajourn.../content/guides) . I'm not sure what visa you are applying for but the guides will give you a good idea for timelines and what is required at each step.

It's more like 15 to 16 months from initial filing for K1 now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS embassy in Ghana

So the NVC sent my I-129F fiance visa paperwork to the US Embassy in Ghana on June 8th, 2011. I called embassy in Washington yesterday (7/5/11), and they informed me that package 3 was mailed out to my fiance two weeks ago and he should wait another week. If he does not get it in another week then he should contact the Embassy abroad to send him another. I'm like #######, the embassy abroad does not take phone calls! That's what they told me, and their emails are always automated, there is not human response. They also say he will not be let in the Embassy unless he has an appointment. So what the hell are we supposed to do now?!?! Because on top of that I also hear that it will take 6 months for him to get his interview! :crying: I have no clue where to go from here. I have sent him a copy of the paperwork and let him know he may have to go to the embassy and let them know he has an appointment so he can get in and pick up a package. Does anyone have any other ideas of what we can do at this moment because I'm at a loss. PLEASE HELP! how can he get his package 3 & 4, and will it really take 6 months to get an interview from the us embassy in Ghana???

Hi, I know how you feel trust me. However, they will not let him into the embassy without an appointment letter, I know this for a fact because my fiance and I just went through the same thing. You have to email the embassy and give them the case number you got from the NVC, It should start with ACC followed by some numbers. When you send the email, inform them that you never received a appointment letter, and your fiance is waiting to pick-up package 3&4. The email address is NIVaccra@state.gov, and they will respond within 3 to 5 days. Finally, there will be at least a 6 month wait when he goes to pick-up packet 3 & 4. Best of luck to ya...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS Embassy
Hello guys:

First, I would like to thank you for running this forum. I have read a lot of useful information on this forum in the course of the k1 visa process for my fiancee from Ukraine.

She is finally here and we are very happy. The process appeared to be not as smooth as I expected. There are several aspects that caused delays in our visa journey. I would like to share them with you and hope that someone will be able to avoid potential delays in the process if he takes my experience into consideration:

First, the government requires an absolute final divorce decree. What I have included appeared to be a Divorce Nisi, which is not a final divorce decree. Once the RFE was issued I had to secure a final divorce and send it back to USCIS.

Secondly, USCIS has requested an original statement of intent to marry from my fiancee. I believed that a well-scanned copy will suffice, however, the RFE stated that the statement must be original.

And lastly, we lost some time because we were expecting the US Embassy to correspond with my fiancee by mail. Apparently, the postal service in my fiancee's country is not reliable and we have not received anything. Luckily, I have read this forum and found out that I can download instructions right from the website of the US Embassy and no specific wait time is required.

We are planning to get married next week and will start the process for the greencard pretty soon!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdoes the CO questioning about age gap??

There is more than a thirty year age difference between you and your fiance. Honestly speaking, this has a high potential of being a problem. You will have to show concrete evidence to the CO that you both are truly in love. Large age difference is one of the main reasons that starts of a suspicion in the minds of the CO. Good luck to both of you.

This age gap might be a big deal in India, but not in the Phils.

Older men rock the younger Pinay wife all the time in US. These fine ladies help keep us "old guys" so young, virile and vigorous. I bet OP makes her her man feel 27, not 57, and he will live to 107. B-)

Good Luck OP! Just double check all your relationship proofs, and hope your man has a solid job well above poverty guidelines, and you will be just fine!

If the baby is born in the Philippines then you will need to apply for CRBA for the baby and you WILL require a DNA test to prove it's our fiance's. If the child is born in the US then it's automatically a citizen so it doesn't matter.

In terms of helping your case no it doesn't.

Yes, congratz. Then also at issue is health insurance. Hopefully your hubby now father to be has some for you, that will cover your pregnancy right away. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 Juarez interview

Hi, I have a couple a question regarding the new procedures in Juarez that I am hoping I can get some help with. I am applying for the k-1 visa. I am a little confused with this new process. I just finished filling out the DS-260 and have the printed confirmation. Now, I am wondering what to do next to schedule the interview. Do you schedule it on the same site you sign up for the appointment for prints? Or is it better to call and schedule the appointment? From DHL tracking, it looks like Juarez has received the package or will receive it tomorrow. I will confirm with the consulate first that they have indeed received it, but if I know that, is it safe for me to schedule the interview before receiving package 3? Thanks for all of your help!

We hope you and your heart throb will be safe down in CDJ. It's rough down there. God Bless!

Thank you all for the answers, I will post more as soon as the letter arrives, at the moment I just feel like my whole world fell apart and being so far away from each other on moments like this doesn't really make things easier.

Harsh with re-apply you mean start all over? But wouldn't the endresult be the same then?

Ning, if that would be the case, how do we get them to review the info?

Sent motion to reconsider along with copy of RFE & denial letter. Approved in two months. Convince them you sent back requested info. Non compliance with RFE results in denial letter. You have 60 days to comply.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisisting US after application denied

Hello Vjers

We sent in our application for K1 end of July and received RFE end of December, we had sent in the small birth certificate instead of the large one and they also wanted copies of my pasport (me being the beneficiary), so we sent that on the 19th of January, until now we didn't get any news so today my fiance called USCIS and was told that our application was denied and that he would receive a letter explaining why they had denied it.

I had visited my fiance 4 times in the past year and a half and we had photos, flighttickets, boardingpasses, pasportstamps, receipts from my visa from restaurants, shops, to proof that, i really don't know what went wrong and why we didn't get accepted, at the moment i'm totally in shock, hearing this after waiting for 7 very long months, i still can't believe it.

Any ideas on what we can do now are very welcome.

I do have a question about me going to see my fiance now, will this denial cause me any problems with entering the US? and on the Esta-form for the Waver program, one of the questions is "Have you ever been denied a US Visa or entry into the US or had a US visa cancelled", what do i reply on that? Is the I-129 application already a visa application or not, i'm a bit confused.

Its best to wait to see what the reason is for the denial. If for example they didnt get your info sent back in responce to the RFE they would deny the case. Hopefully the responce was sent back along with the REF letter which is a requirement so they can attach the evidence to the proper case. The items requested by the RFE & then submitted should have been enough to allow the approval.
The USC should make an INFO PASS appointment to go see USCIS to find out what the problem is rather than accept the denial as is. If the RFE has been satisfied he could ask for reconsideration. This occured in our case. USCIS then reviewed the info & approved the case.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWould changing the interview date create a red flag?

Thank you - that's good to know. How and where can I get copies of the transcripts?

Contact IRS by phone, in person, or internet. Request transcripts for last 3 years. They are free. If you have fax ask them to fax. If not they will mail. My husbands two about 2 weeks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWould changing the interview date create a red flag?

We requested to have our interview date changed so that I had more time to get my 2010 tax returns together for the I-134 and the embassy replied saying that they would reschedule and send us a new appointment letter in the mail. It doesn't seem like it's a problem but I'm getting paranoid that this request will create some sort of red flag to the embassy.

You dont have to have your 2010 returns for the interview. Copies of what you filed prove you filed. It is not the same as transcripts which prove they acted upon the returns. The idea is to ensure you dont have taxes owed. The embassy may accept your copies. If they dont you will have lost the time it takes to get what is required. You can get the actual transcripts in a few hours to a few weeks depending on how you request them.
Asking for a different interview date doesnt matter to the embassy. You are then subject to their ability to give you a new date.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-2 question

hi all,

my fiance is in the process of getting everything together in anticipation of packet 3 from CD Juarez in a few months. But, I have a question regarding her daughter. I understand that she would need a notarized letter signed by her ex-husband allowing for her daughter to immigrate to the US. My question is how long would that letter be valid?

He is in her town now, but she fears he may take off soon and she might not get a chance to get him to sign anything. If she gets the letter signed and notarized now, would that still be valid when we have our appointment (presumably this summer - july or august)? Is there an expiration in other words?

I know this can vary per consulate so if anyone has specific CDJ info, that would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Best to inquire at the embassy. When you do ask if they have a specific format to follow. Also ask if the letter needs to be in Spanish as well as translated to English with his signature on both.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOy vey...what to do?

Co-Sponsor is not an option.

That is good to know, I thought the I-129F had to be filed with the first K-1 documents.

Perhaps then the best is to analyze the likely time-line for when it will be needed, and then take a job (regardless of how "good" it is) when the need for the I-129F occurs, or possibly even hold off the entire process for several months. In my field it's always easier to find jobs between August and November. Perhaps I'll have to hold off entering college for a semester.

Look over the forms. The 129 F is the inital petition. See the guides area at the top of the page.
The support form you will submit is the 134. That will be submitted just prior to the interview. Your fiance will need to know the basics of your support situation because you as the petitioner are not allowed at the actual interview. This means the support issues are reviewed by the interviewing officer prior to the interview. The decision when it pertains to support is made before your fiance approaches the window. I may be a good idea to write a letter to attach to the 134 explaining your employment situation along with your future earning ability.
You are correct in thinking over the timeline. The submission of the 134 will be many months down the road. You have time to affect your income to the level it needs to be to ensure success.
NingFemaleThailand2011-03-20 10:18:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOy vey...what to do?

You don't have to send the Affidavit of Support with the I-129F application. You can send it to your fiance closer to the time of the interview in Bangkok. If you don't think you can get the job before then, then maybe you should see if you can get a Co-Sponsor for the affidavit.

Keep in mind BKK almost never allows co- sponsors for K 1s. Jims advice is sound. The best option is # 2. Any job would look better than none.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEx-Spouse Permission Problem and Question

When my wife and I went for her visa interview at the Bangkok Embassy, all we needed at that time was the court order giving my wife full custody of her children. The embassy official make a copy of the order to put into her file. Both my wife and the children had no problems getting their visas. Obviously that was several years ago so maybe things have changed.

I assure everyone things have changed. When I went thru this with my daughter I wasnt even asked for a court order. I simply got her a passport & turned it in to have the visa put in it. There wasnt one question asked.
There is no maybe to it. Anyone wanting to bring children out of Thailand will need to follow the present criteria.
NingFemaleThailand2011-03-28 14:12:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEx-Spouse Permission Problem and Question

Hopefully that will work. Other posters would be well advised to understand this kind of question requires a country specific answer. What it is elsewhere is NOT what it is everywhere. Your specific question can be asked directly to the Consulate by email. That's where any answer about alternatives to the signed statement must come.

This is correct. BKK is not similar to any other country when it comes to this subject.
In 3 recent cases the embassy required not only the signature but in 2 cases actually required the father to be present at the embassy for questioning.
The embassy will provide a sample letter. They dont explain that they require the letter signed in both languages. In the 2 cases I know of they also never said in advance that the father needed to be present. In those case both mothers made some errors in the verbal explanation of the situation which caused the officer to question the intent of the very letter the embassy issued.
This is a very difficult subject for people from other countries to understand. It involves a long history of Thai culture. It also demonstrates the extent Thai men will go to so they can avoid responsibility. What occured here is common in Thailand.
He refuses to acknowedge the needs of the child because it is the only thing he can do to maitain some control over another human. Thai men must be seen as having the mind set of a child. Do not mistake their thinking for yours or that it involves a modicum of common sense.
It may be a mistake to involve a lawyer. In Thailand these things are done by family members. This could turn into a very difficult situation if not approached in the right way. You will have to decide how much you are willing to pay. He will refuse the first offer. Prepare 3 offers & a strategy to make those offers. Use his family against him by makeing the offer thru them. They will want some of the money from him. They will try to force him to accept. He will lose face if he doesnt. This is their chance to make some money & they all know it.
Keep in mind someone may have to ask him to travel to BKK. He will want the cost of that plus his loss of income & more to do it. You wont know if the embassy will require him to come until its too late. This means additional time & money to be spent. If the embassy refuses the letter someone will have to talk him into coming. If that happens the embassy will allow time & reschedual the interview.
I know this all sounds impossible to believe but I assure you it isnt going to be easy. I helped with two cases in the recent past. I spent hours on the phone with the Thai to help them get thru what had to be done. There is much more to this than I can express here.
The other options you speak of are even more difficult. They would be limited to simply leaving the kids in Thailand. A close friend had to leave one of her 3 due to exactly this. It has proven to be extremely difficult for her & the child. She now travels to Thailand often to visit her own kid. This affects her life in the USA, her work & her Thia family a great deal. I would not recommend leaving the kids for a thousand reasons.
It is my hope that this child will be allowed to realise the same freedom we all have in this great country. To live his life here with both of you.
