K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresco sponsor proving income with bank statements/assets...not taxes

i have a few questions for you:

beings it will be my fiance and his son applying for the visa, will they both be charged the amount of $350?
what medical information needs to be collected for his son? will he need a medical exam, the same as his father?
if, my father (the co-sponsor) is self employed and does not file taxes, but can show more than sufficient proof of income through his bank account and his assets, will this be fine?

Each person pays the fee for each visa.
Medical is same for both people regardless of age.
Self employment hopefully produces income. Income is taxable.
Its best to submit tax transcripsts. Those prove income & taxes paid in full.
Make sure the embassy will allow a co sponsor.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 10 in the I-134 Affidavit of Support

She's in Manila.

I recommend sending an original I-134, not a scanned one. Any document with a signature should be an original document.

Hopefully common sense would allow them to see she needed a simple correction. She has the 108 dollar signed original that could be attached to the corrected copy. I have seen this done before & accepted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 10 in the I-134 Affidavit of Support

I just got the documents that my fiance sent to me for my interview on the 15th. Looking at the I-134 Affidavit of Support that he filled out makes me concerned. In Question #10, he answered NONE. Isn't my name supposed to be in there? I guess he was confused and related it to Question #9. He did put my name and other information in Question #3. It cost him $108 to send these documents via FedEx. Should I be very concerned? Does he need to send a new I-134? Please advise. Thank you very much!

Have him scan a new one to you. Put that with the incorrect doc. It would help if you gave more info such as where you are.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat to say

My fiance has seemed more depressed over the last few days about this whole process taking so long. We are getting close to the end. We are waiting for the embassy to give us an interview date now. It really does hurt worse the closer you get to the end.

She seemed really depressed this morning. She says people in the village ask her why it takes so long. They know other women with farang husbands and it did not take this long. I am so tired of hearing and saying things like, "Just hang in there, it will be over before you know it" and "Good things come to those who wait. What do I say to her when she wonders why it has to take so long?

I heard all of this from the locals as well. These people simply dont know what they are talking about nor the damage they are doing. People tried to tell me my husband could pay corruption money to get my visa quickly for example. Everyone driving a tuk tuk seems to be an immigration expert. Some are refering to immigrating to countries other than the USA. I know a few that went to England which really was faster. Or Australia.
Ask what she has done to prepare herself for the dramatic change ahead. Ask her what she knows of the USA or the place & people she will soon be living in & around. There is much to be done thats more productive than listening to the nay sayers. Thai people are very negitive about what they dont understand.
It takes so long because we want what we believe to be a better life so much. The journey to that life is down a long road but at the end is freedom for one thing. Freedom that she has waited a lifetime to experiance & took a long time to create. It takes a long time to be granted the privilage of entering the USA. The price we pay for the chance to have that privilage is small compared to the lifetime of opportunity it gives us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs this question/concern for NVC or the Embassy ?

How the heck does packet 3 get to your fiance...In Haiti?

Currently regular post office mail is absolete.

I have downloaded all the forms available to me for packet 3 EXCEPT I am unable to find the medical or the police report form (even from the Embassy website for Haiti). So I am guessing it comes with the original packet 3. That is what I am afraid of...he will never get that, eventually yes but not in 30, 60 or 90 days.

If Haitian mail is that slow and he never gets packet 3 where will he obtain the two forms he needs for the medical and the police check?

Will they be willing to email everything to me or should I explain this to NVC before the approved petition gets transferred to Haiti?

Thanks in advance

Chynna

Police report comes directly from local police. Medical from designated hospital. These are submitted to the embassy & not to NVC. Same for your 134 support form.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCellphone Records

I have a prepaid cellphone. I requested that they would give me records, but they told me I had to wait a few months. What can I do instead? I have straighttalk prepaid.

I have skype records, but I think phone records will be kind of important. Also he has prepaid so he doesn't have any phone records either.

Nothing wrong with doing this but I dont think it will matter in your case. Your relationship is totaly different than most due to meeting in the USA, time spent together there, living in Thailand for 90 days ect.
You arent going to have to worry about the strength of the relationship. Your case is going to hinge on the support aspect & you have done well in that area as well.
Dont worry Nik.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPreparing for K-1 Visa Packet 3 and 4

Hi Everyone-Finally submitted my 129F and have NOA1. Want to get everything in order for next phase and could use some help/advice on a couple of things:
1. Is there a document that describes in Thai the Packet 3 and 4 requirements. Looked on the Bangkok embassy website but did not find...in English anyway, a translated Thai version of the directions. Would be great to give to my Fiance!
2. Recommendations on how to get a thai birth certificate. My fiance was born at home and claims to not have a birth certificate. Any suggestions? She has her ID card and passport.
3. Any recommendations on a Thai language translator in Bangkok or in Buriram province?

Thanks!!!!

Ken

#1 Type packet 3 in visa section search block to find special instructions in Thai.
#2 Common problem in Thailand. She can go to her Amphur to get help.
#3 What needs to be translated? Be careful with this. Its easy to spend money you dont have to.
Its possible for her to buy a special pin number at a Thai post office that allows her to call into the embassy to ask questions. This should not be needed just for P 3 docs.
P 4 is simply the interview date letter. I think this is done mostly by email now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling with tourist visa while waiting for k1 visa

Hello,

I am a American citizen and my fiancé is Chilean. He already has applied for and received a tourist visa (multi-entry) valid for ten years. He has travelled to the USA twice on this visa. We will soon begin the process of applying for a k1 visa and want to know if he will be able to visit me during this process on his tourist visa? It is not our intention that he wait for the K1 visa in the states, but that he is able to spend a few weeks in the states with me at different points of the process. Thanks for any info!

The real answer to this wont be known until he tries to enter the USA next time. The fact that he used the visa before & returned will help him.
If he is questioned about the K 1 he must tell them the truth while simply explaining he knows he must leave the USA to obtain the visa later. He cant wait for the K 1 anyway if hes in the USA because its a visa to enter the USA.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support

Its best to submit a tax transcripts. Free from IRS by phone or on line. If your income is about the required level no need for the letter. If its not or very close the letter should be included.

I didnt realize you were talking about sending it with 129. Find the Packet 3 info on your embassies web site to see when its required. I think you will find it is required in Mexico.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support

Good morning,

I'm about to submit my I-29F visa application. Along with the I34 Affidavit of Support, I was going to submit a recent pay stub as well as my 2010 W2 Form as proof of income. However, I got a pay increase since 2010. Should I submit a memo explaining the increase? Or would that be unnecessary? Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT HELP NEEDED REGARDING BIRTH CERTIFICATE

We had the same issue... the document from the Amphur was fine for the K-1 for us. We got the same "originals burned in fire" or "office moved and it was lost" run around for an original.

The actual "original" is never given out. The documents given to citizens are copies of the original. If the actual original has been lost or whatever it can be reconstructed as it is in many of these situations. The doc from the Amphur has been accepted in every case I know of.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT HELP NEEDED REGARDING BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Thank you Ning.

I forgot to ask my fiancee if they kept her passport, probably not. She has to go back Friday or Monday with the requested birth certificate.

Sorry, I don't know the technically terms for all these officials. She originally went to the official (Amphur?) in the town that she was born but he refused to make her one, telling her she has to go the official of the town she is has been residing. So she went there and got a document with her parents as witness as to where she was born.

Unfortunately, she didn't have this original document at the interview. I think that is where they are giving her a hard time. Others that she has talked to has similar document and got a visa without a problem.

I know these things seem difficult to Americans but I assure you its not. My husband says we dont bother with common sense or logic.
She should be able to get what she needs with a little effort. It sounds like she just needs to get the document & she will be fine. If there is any more confusion about what has to be done send me a P M with her phone number.
The embassy just wants to make sure they have what is required in the file to complete the case. In the end you will see how all of this makes the future steps work out correctly for you both. Not having these documents could be a disaster in the USA later. Make sure she keeps copies of this doc to bring with her.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT HELP NEEDED REGARDING BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Hello fellow VJ,

My fiancee just got done with her interview.

Started 7:30 am and got out 11:30 am.
She was drilled pretty good. She was at window 5, interviewed by the American lady with short hair.
She said the American lady was fine to her. Later, she had to get a Thai lady to speak to my fiancee as she does not speak English.

Also, she was drilled by good by the fact that we only knew each since last September (less than a year).

My fiancee had sent a copy of the letter with witnesses (her parents) where she was born, but not an actual birth certificate.
The American lady asked a Thai lady to question my fiancee further on this matter. Even after my fiancee explained that the official in the province that she was born would not provide her a birth certificate. The official in her province where she is residing now gave her a certificate with her parents as witnesses.

Unfortunately, she placed a copy of this certificate in Packet 3 and forgot to take the original to the interview.
The Thai lady really drilled her on this and insisted that she must go back to the official where she was born to get some kind of birth certificate. Is what this is requesting even valid???

Sorry, not making much sense...

I remembered reading in one of the post that prior to certain year, you can't get a true birth certificate. Only a certificate with witnesses stating that you were born there.

Anyone with information on this matter, please reply with links of previous posts and any information would be greatly appreciated.

My fiancee is heading home. She was told to come back Friday or Monday. We are not sure what to get and don't want to waste time going back.

If there is an official document that a real birth certificate can not be created then we can at least bring that back as proof to show the interviewing officer.

Thank you so much for your help.

She can go to her Amphur or city hall & get what is required. Did they keep her passport? If so they will have placed the visa in it. If not she will have to go back again after submitting the document.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help with Fiance kid question please

It is critical that you contact the embassy involved to ask the exact requirments to take the child out of the country. I am familier with Thailand but I think her country will be the same.
The embassy may have a sample letter that the father can sign. It must be in both languages. The legal custody granted by the court will not be accepted by the U S government I dont think. It isnt in Thailand I know for sure.

I saw your post indicating she got her visa which is great news. Could you let us know what happened about the child please. This type of info can help others in the future.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs K1/AOS process really bad?
We are early into the K1 process and so far, so good! We received our NOA1 May 31st via VSC and we fully expect 5-8 months processing time as anything and everything can happen, back logs, etc. We are using this time to our advantage as her daughter is in University and the time cushion will be a good thing. I will admit, reading topics that say "K1 denied... visa denied" and other horror stories get my attention and make me wonder if we have all our ducks in a row with documentation. Also, those complaining about not getting processed in 2 or 3 months because someone else has... We try to congratulate all who are successful with every step of the way.

It is refreshing to see a post devoted to good experiences and what happens when everything goes right! I hope to read more success stories!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 dependent child does not want to move
Thanks for the input. We filed the I-129f when she was 17 and a month later she turned 18 but were well aware this process will take a while. My thing is, here is an opportunity to get this all taken care of so that travel to the US will be easier rather than jumping through hoops later. Thanks again for the comments and experiences on this issue!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 dependent child does not want to move
Hello VJers,
Recently, the 18 year old dependent child of my fiancee has decided to enter University and not join her mother with the K1 visa process due to the fact it will significantly interfere with her studies. She has no desire to live in the United States. At this point, we have not received the NOA2 and I am wondering if this change will significantly effect my fiancees' interview. I know it is pointless to try to contact someone before the NOA2 is approved, but should anyone be notified prior to the interview? What paperwork will have to be filled out and is there a special procedure that will have to be followed?
Thanks!
