I know I have to send my husband items prior to his interview. Pictures, Cards, proof of communication such as emails, text messages, phone records, or instant messages. The needed items for the interview will be listed in Packet 3 or 4.

If you visit the link I have provided it will give you experiences at the Lago embassy. Nigerian Embassy

Africa: Sub-SaharanInspirational...how has your SO impacted your life
Congratulations on you and your SO's accomplishments. I returned to college at 30 years of age, after I had my son. At the time Couldn't see me getting an associate degree let alone a bachelors. My son was my motivation.

One thing I loved about my husband is his continual attempt at improvement. After just two months of marriage he already asking me what he can do to be a better husband. I stated that he was wonderful just the way he is. When I told him I was a REALTOR he read every book he could about real estate. He is passionate about my son's education and well being.

The Nigerian culture as a whole value education. The children often take the hectic public transportation to attend school. They appreciate and value their education. Most continue on to college despite the lack of professional positions. There are an abundance of educated people in the Nigeria region despite the lack of positions. I would love to see them capitalize on the tourist industry. They are hospitable people. Unlike the American tourist industry they mean it. You can see the sincerity in their eyes.

Thats my oppionion, I welcome yours. good.gif

My husband and I got married on Valentines Day of this year. It has been an interesting year to say the least smile.gif I think it would be nice to share some positive things about the influences your SO has had in your life. Let me start:

My husband had inspired me to go to college and get a degree in a field that I would be happy in. I just got my grades (A,B, cool.gif and I really owe it all to him. He is also going to college and he has guided me and helped me tremendously. I know that I have a long road ahead, but just feel blessed that he really wants me to pursue my dreams.

He has an exam in afew hours for his CNA license and I am so proud of him. I am sure that he will do well, but please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

We also go to church every (almost) Sunday and there is nothing more attractive than to see a man giving glory and praise to God.

Please share your stories...I am sure we all have some positive and uplifting things to say about our SO's smile.gif

Have a Blessed Day!!

Many embassies are different. My husband was in ap with another person. Both had 2nd interview schedule. My husband was approved he was denied.

Countries like India do not call you in for a 2nd interview. They say your AP is complete turn in your passport for your visa or they call say that you were denied.

Have you called the DOS?

I want to say you will be just fine!

its been 1 year now since i interviewd in the Embassy here in jordan and they put me on administrative processing and after one year the embassy sent an email saying that case is returned to the uscis ( us. citz and immg serv.) where the petition was originally filed. They provided no explanation as to why. Here's the email we received:

"Your case will be returned to the USCIS office in which y ou originally filed the petition in the US. You will be contacted by that office. You are advised to submit any additional information directly to USCIS at that time. No further action can be taken on this case by our office.

Thank you for understanding that your next point of contact will be the USCIS office in which you originally filed the petition."

so please guys anyone have an answer or been through this before please help.

Thanks.

The 30 day rule stinks! Can you see if you can give the notice on this trip and have everything ready for the next? I think [could be wrong] that you need to give at least 30 days, not 30 exactly. This way you'll be all set when you return.

Yeah, if there is absolutely no way around it, I already have a copy of my birth certificate, will pick up my passport size photos, will make a copy of my passport and visa before I leave so he can hold on to it until we are ready. Or if, by chance they let us submit a few months in advance, that would be good. But the best would be if we could get married this time, and save me one more trip, not that i mind seeing him, but i have at least 2 other trips planned after marriage, so it would save money. i wonder how many trips i have to make to get to my free frequent flier miles, lol. He is going to the court tomorrow to pick up the paperwork so i can sign whatever i need to. and as long as we both don't have to be there to turn it in, all is well, and none the wiser.

It was my understanding that if the CO sent your case back to the USCIS, it was becasue they were denying it. This does not make it so, but it takes hard work to make it not so.

Going on trends in AP and your coutnry when the embassy askes for your passport it means they are going to give you your VISA. You said they asked again. This means they ahve had access to it at one other time? Have you done a lot of traveling? Sometimes they ask for passports to verify traveling records.

At first glance it looks like good news.

You can try calling the DOS. Ask them if they see any updates regarding the status of your case. The can't give specific details, but everytime the embassy makes changes they document them. The DOS can see these updates. Ask in a way that tells the operator you know she can see the updates.

Greetings Samer,

AP is common in your country.
Typical wait time is 6-8 months. They tell you shorter when you are in front of them so they do not have to answer more questions. Sorry yours went so long with an unstatisfying results.
Sometimes they tell AP people that they passed their interview, but still get on AP for name check, backround, documentation verification, home visits.
Your case is sent back from the Embassy because they do not believe you qualify for the VISA. They do not have the authority to deny your visa. They just send back to the USCIS with their recomendations and reason for not giving your the VISA.

The petitioner needs to contact their Senator's office, USCIS, Write a letter of inquiry for the reason the petition was returned. Hire a lawyer.

Me and my wife had our interview yesterday. We went to the first window and the woman some how froze our case in the system trying to back out of it to many times. Then we went to wait at the number two window.

We were called up because my wife was pregnant and they were nice enough to give us two choices, wait there or call us later because our case was still frozen in the system.

We decided to wait there for the interview. Three hours later they called us back up and went ahead and conducted the interview part, but could not finish the finger prints for my wife. They asked me some questions and my wife also. The consular said they wanted to approve the visa but could not because my wife needed to come back the next day for finger prints.

My wife returned today alone because i had to fly home today and the finger prints were done, they said to her the visa was approved. We paid the delivery fee to have the paper work sent to her home.

My wife gets home and her mother tells her that the embassy called, and to call them back. My wife calls the visa unit number and they tell my wife she could not be approved at this time because of some record they need to get. They told her not to worry about it this happens and they would call her back in for another interview??? What The hell are they doing???

Then they say to my wife it's some Ap process, it could take weeks or a few months they said, but they knew she was pregnant and they already sent some telegram message to what ever record they needed. They would not give details as to what they are searching for. Could some one please advise us what to do or expect now? My wife is soooo sad and heart broken. We were told it was approved and my wife gets home and gets this freak en phone call.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)IS THIS BAD?
Sounds like the interview went well, which is common. AP really is just another part of the process for the OP area. The confusing part becomes when they need to submit additional documentation, but remain in AP. Plan for the worst get surprized by the best.

1 week after submitting the required documents contact the DOS to see what they can see on their end if you do not hear anything.

QUOTE (JimVaPhuong @ Jun 24 2009, 08:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think you mean 221(g). This is a section of the Immigration and Naturalization Act - the primary US law that covers visas and immigration. Section 221(g) is a "catch all" for the consulate because it's one of the only sections in the law that gives a consular officer the authority to make a judgment call on a visa application. If the consular officer decides to hold up the visa because the applicant forgot to sign a paper, they'll cite section 221(g) in the letter. By the same token, if the consular officer decides to send the entire package back to USCIS with a recommendation that the original petition be revoked, they'll cite 221(g). All they're really saying is "This is the section of the US immigration law that gives me the authority to take this action". In your case, the action they're taking is simply asking for more documentation.

Whether they issue the visa after receiving the requested documentation depends on why they were asking for the documentation, and whether the submitted documentation confirms or refutes their reason. For instance, if they are inclined to deny the application, and the documentation reinforces their suspicions, then they'll deny the application. In your case, it sounds like they're inclined to approve the application, but have questions about whether the public charge guarantee is being adequately met, so they're asking for more tax documentation. If the documents you provide satisfy them, then they'll approve the application.

As others have said, AP is common at your consulate. It's possible it could be only a few weeks, but being stuck in AP for several months is not at all uncommon. Don't make any concrete plans until your husband has the visa in hand.
