K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2008 Filers	ChuckandGrace: Well, if they told you it was sent, than it probably was.....so, yeah, I think your best bet is to call the embassy or if you want to be sure first and save money, call the NVC again and see if you get the same answer, then if so, call the embassy. Why is it so expensive to call the embassy? is this a fee that they impose? I use an online calling card through Enjoyprepaid.com and I just looked up the rates and it says 12.5 cents/minute for Phillipines.......if you decide to use it get the emerald plan. I also use CTAcard.com....but the difference is, with CTA you have to use all the minutes in one call or you lose time.......but with enjoyprepaid.com, you can call back as much as you want and not be penalized. I have received three letters with different dates all saying the same thing....that it WILL be forwarded.....but tomorrow will make 4 weeks at NVC.....they said they will send a letter once it is sent but I haven't received that yet..... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2008 Filers	Well......with my limited knowledge......I see four basic ways to become aware of your case making it past this step..... 1)Randomly call/email the NVC and inquire about your case 2)Check DHL and then if you see a package heading your way....call NVC and inquire about your case to see if it was possibly yours 3)Randomly call your emabassy and see if they have received your case 4)Wait for a letter in the mail from either NVC or Embassy saying that your case has reached the embassy Any way it goes.......patience, patience, patience.....and out of our control.......no quick fixes.......just procedure. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2008 Filers	I found this info in another thread.....but it comes from the US State Department Glossary of Terms: Case Number: The National Visa Center (NVC) gives each immigrant petition a case number. This number has three letters followed by ten digits (numbers). The three letters are an abbreviation for the overseas embassy or consulate that will process the immigrant visa case (for example, GUZ for Guangzhou, CDJ for Ciudad Juarez). The digits tell us exactly when NVC created the case. For example a case with the number MNL2001747003 would be a case assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Manila. 2001 is the year in which NVC received the case from the USCIS (formerly INS). The Julian date is 747 plus 500, so this case was created on September 4, 2001, the 247th day of the year. The 003 shows that it was the third case created for Manila on that day. This case number is not the same as the USCIS receipt number, which is written on the Notice of Action, Form I-797, from the USCIS. A consular section abroad cannot find a case if all you have is the USCIS receipt number. The only thing is that when it says the Julian date....I think for this case it should say that 747 is the Julian date of 247 + 500 which equals 747........Julian date is the ordinal number of the day of the year.....ex....Dec. 31 is the 365th day of the year.	luvhasnoborders	Female	Rwanda	2009-01-02 11:03:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2008 Filers	Badgerella: I go to the link below....... http://www.dhl.com/p.../sref.high.html Then in the reference number, you have to put EXP 2 JAN 2009A................then change the search dates beginning two days before...then leave the other date the current date. Everyday you can change the date and check after the pick-ups leave the building for the day.......sometimes things that are dated for the day before don't show up until the next day, so you have to play with the dates a bit. (Make sure to put spaces between everything as above and put that "A" after the year) A list of packages will come up showing all the different countries they are going to.......just try putting in EXP 30 DEC 2008A....with dates between 29 DEC 2008 and 31 DEC 2008......you should see packages that were shipped to many places like Mexico, UK, Ukraine, Thailand, Manila, etc. Then if you scroll down it breaks them down individually and shows you where the package is currently located or if it has made it to the final destination. The thing is....if you see one to your embassy, you can't be sure that it is yours....since many cases may be going there, but atleast it gives you a reason to call and check...... I have received 3 letters with three different dates stating that they received my file and it would be sent to the embassy in one week......these were the 18, 19, and 23......so, anyway....I've called a few times and have been told as well...that it is in review and it is normal procedure....... So.....I was concerned because according to others' timelines, the cases were flying in and out of there within a few days.....but then I stumbled across a thread on here called "Stuck @ NVC".......I don't know how to put the link in here......after reading that, and now others on our August thread.....there just seems to be some kind of backlog or new procedure that many of us are going through right now..... So....what I have decided to do is check DHL tracking once a day.....you can usually check by 3:30pm eastern time for current day's info....put in the current day like everyone else has said......EXP 01 JAN 2009A.......gotta put the A, don't know why.....and then look to see what packages have gone out.......if I see one with my embassy, then I will call and ask if my case left.....other than that.....no need to call.....same info/different operator.....however, they are nice and the good thing is....they work until Midnight.....so call after 6pm eastern time to get through easier... So....hope this calms everyone's nerves.....no need to be stressed on the first day of this New Year.......the good news is....we will all be married within 2009 and with our loved ones forever!!!!! and besides......we gotta have something to talk about to keep this August thread going!!!!!	luvhasnoborders	Female	Rwanda	2009-01-01 11:56:00
