loko, if Eunice told you the same thing, then guess what?
she just vetted my stuff ;)

Eunice and I not talk at all about cases...
and we only talk about MY case, ages ago.

We not share info, ever, on stuff she's working on.

Interesting... Then I must retract and say: you're quite insightful! Although a bit freaky.

Holy Mother o God.
Yer on the hook buddy -
this is a step away from 'the kiss of death' as they really think you not have any bonafide relationship with your wife. Plus there's at least (IMO) two other red flags tied up in all of this
1. arranged marriage (not that common between Anglos and Chinese)
2. little to no 'down time' between divorce finalization and next marriage.

I'm gonna make inline comments below. My apologies for the late-ish-ness of my reply - I've been super busy with work, and I think your issues require some pointed response. Happy to have Pushbrk punch holes in my premises, below, as well. [vetting is cool]

hmmm. You have been talking to Eunice perhaps? Wikileaks?

She is Marc Ellis' associate in Guangzhou. I have heard nothing but good things said.

Wow! That's good to hear. The Yang's recommended her. Thanks Ryan!

Thank you for all your responses. I believe I know what I need to do. 1) Type up some drafts to organize the statements. 2) Collect my bank statements to show I paid for my own airfare, all the Western Union transactions, purchase of a passport, visa, etc. 3) Contact my US Senator and let him know. 4) I need to return to China, take some new photos, and perhaps make some videos of me and my wife with family there. 5) Then make an appointment for ACS to hand-deliver the listed items to an officer, if possible.

Thank you! You're awesome! The Yangs were kind and scanned the 221g for me and sent to me before my wife left for Wuhan. In the mean time, I'll try to get the images downsized and posted.

The images were too large to post so I put them in my gallery. This is all the paperwork I have from her so far. Darnell, is this the paperwork you are referring to?

I second these bits in bold. Those in the building are sharks. Same venue as lawyers who chase ambulances into the ER at a hospital. I do understand that there may be 2 that maintain offices there, that are actually any good - it's still on you to decide to use them, in the end.

When I got the call from them, I haven't seen the 221g yet. They offered to translate between me and my wife. The guy told me she got a denial because we only had pictures of us wearing nice clothes, no wedding pictures or video. He said we need pictures of daughter when she was young, together with mother. Your wife wants to use our services to get the visa for your wife and your daughter. She wants to know what you think. He told me his cost, I declined. He rebutted saying: "you have a difficult and complex case, you need a video of your wedding, you have that?" I graciously told him I need to think about it.

Yikes - if you'd like, I can write a bunch here about this 221g. My schedule is tight for now, perhaps this evening or the weekend?

One quick bit - on 'how to respond' to this 221G -
It's listed in the paperwork she received back. I'll guess it'll be some postal packet from her.

Middle East and North AfricaDoes anyone know the names of the CO's in Casa
Thanks everyone,

The problem is that my friend does not have a clue as to why they are sending it back and on the 221g they have deferred her to NVC and the service center for further information about their case. She called NVC and of course everyone says Casa still has the file.

They did have an RFE for the documents in question --- NVC wanted certified copies or orginals -- which were sent and the case was subsequently forwarded to Casa. My friends husband had the originals on hand at the interview, but the CO didn't seem to want them? It seems he was only interested in their pictures. It's all confusing and I'm trying to keep her focused on the task at hand and to not just wait for the shock to subside when it's too late to take action. She does plan on calling Casa first thing in the morning their time. Hopefully, something positive will come out of their conversation. The real stinker is that she and I met our husbands at the same time and were married two months apart. The only difference is that my husband got his visa last year and she's still waiting. This sucks!!! At any rate, wish us luck.

Thanks again,
Christine :luv:

Middle East and North AfricaDoes anyone know the names of the CO's in Casa
Sarah,

After the interview, they told them that they sent everything back to USCIS BEFORE the interview because of a missing original birth certificate and marriage license. HELLO, why would NVC forward incomplete docs and schedule and interview? She even called NVC and the service center and they said Casa has it. It all sounds fishy to us.

She's contacted her senator and has emailed Casa, but I suggested she call them directly first thing Monday morning GMT before it does get sent back. Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to help a friend whose husband received the all to infamous 221g after his interview last week. Of course, she is in the dark as to why her petition is being sent back. The CO claims her husband was missing an original birth certificate and their marriage license...all documents he had in hand, but apparently they didn't want it? :( He was interviewed by a man that spoke some Arabic. My friend would like to try to speak to this man directly. Does anyone happen to know the name of the CO's in Casa. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Middle East and North Africaunbelievable

Ewok is already aware. Discussion is cool, opinions differ, but there are lines that can be crossed and they get crossed here a lot. I personally don't mind discussions, but snotty remarks don't have much of a place in discussion or debate. I hope it stops here.

You need to realize that the "Islam" that is broadcast on USA and European media is not the whole story. Many of us here are either of ME/NA descent, from the ME/NA, or have spent considerable time there. We have seen more then just what the press here and in Europe wants us to see. I have met far more respectful, humble and kind muslim people then I have angry and violent muslims.

Kittykat's view, unfortunately, is the popular trend. Islam is not a violent or ugly religion... PEOPLE unforunately are. (F)

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, it does have an effect on our SO's. My husband has been in the US for less than a year and people are just mean to him. I try to tell him it's not because he is Muslim, but I am not in his shoes. Post like K's give me a good insight how others see him. Boy, have I been in the dark

That is the best advice, here. I know all too many cases that the men had the paperwork, but following their cultural norms, did not "offer" it to the CO and waited to be asked. They were never asked and were refused.

Congratulations on your marriage and welcome to VJ. You'll find myriad experiences here from VJ. I've found that if you are prepared and organized Casa can be "managed". If there is an age difference beyoned 10 yrs., Casa can be difficult and will doubt the validity of your marriage. If I can give any advice, is be prepared for ANYTHING. Go over interview questions with your husband, until he is blue in the face. Prepare, prepare, prepare. My friends husband was questioned in Casa about children and her tubal ligation. How did they know about that? He answered appropriately and he got the visa. You cannot know enough about each other, and Casa makes sure that you do. I wish you all the best.

Middle East and North AfricaDocuments needed 4 getting married in Morocco
Also note that non-Muslim men cannot marry in Morocco unless they state that they have converted/are Muslim.

The health certificate can be done in Morocco with your spouse. Any documents in English, need to be translated into Morocco(i.e. Eligibility to Marry, Birth certificate, police report, etc.)

Good luck,
Christine

I got married in Morocco last year. These are the documents you'd need:

1) your Birth Certificate but it must be a sealed copy from the town hall then you have to go to the county to get a certificate confirming the authenticity of the document (if you weren't born here - go to notary public and get it translated and then certified - that's what i had to do, don't know about what's before the () - copied that from a site last year.
(2) A clean police record (never been arrested) - you can even get it online for like $10 but it takes a few days. Search online for your state's site and search there about criminal records
(3) A certificate of good health - no contagious diseases, no STDs (sexually transmitted) - i did all of that just in case - test for STDs is required as far as i know
(5) Dissolution of marriages, or if never married a certified letter stating so.
(6) Paper from your job saying that you do work there and your recent pay stubbs - they looked at my paystubbs so many times, i was getting dizzy!
Do whatever you can to ensure you have all the documents.

The certificate of nationality and that you can get married you'd get in Casa for $30 - that's the first thing you'd have to get once you're in Morocco. We went to the consulate straight from the airport.

Second paper - you'd have to go to Rabat for your criminal record redone for Morocco.
And that's only the beginning.
If you're a muslim - i'm not sure how that works then. But for legal marriage that's what you need. And tonns of patience and lots of money for bribes - everybody's expecting it - it's normal there. The time frame would be 3 weeks and no day less - i tried really hard, lost my ticket back that way - everything goes very slow in Morocco! You have to remember that. I hope you know that all the offices there have a lunch break from 12 to 3 pm. Or whatever it is in the city you're going to - that slows everything down even more! But you'll get there eventually, I promise!

Good luck
PM me if you have more questions.

Middle East and North AfricaMore kids with second marriage?

Really Sarah, abnormal? I never thought it to be that.

Jackie

I also stated that I'm sure there's just some who don't want kids.

I have talked about this a lot with Hicham and he said in Morocco what he knows is that people who get married have kids and that starting a family is highly valued in their culture. Maybe it is different in Jordan I will have to ask JP but from what I have learned from her it seems like both her and her fiance have huge familes.

I don't think this is a sterotype and I am sure that others would agree that family is valued much more (generally) in the ME/NA than in the US. I have heard many stories like the one Kelly said about how after they got married her Mother in law was ready for some grandkids.

I'm just saying what I saw in Morocco and what Hicham has told me about family and children. It wasn't meant to be taken as an insult and I hope it wasn't.

Maybe szsz and JP or any other Arabs or those of you who have lived abroad can share your experiences with family in the ME/NA?

We got pregnant "accidentaly" shortly after we were married. We both wanted children, but my eggs are no spring chickens --- pushing 41 here-- so, if it happened, it happened. It did and now my husband says ones enough

That said, my DH's friends wife, a USC, has a 20 yr old and 12 yr old from a previous marriage, with her tubes tied. When the CO asked him at his visa interview what he thought about his wife not being able to have kids, he said it didn't matter because he loved her. Needless to say he got his visa. I'm sure he would love to have kids, but he and his wife are very content with each other and her kids.

Then there is my gf. She is around my age and didn't want kids. Before she married her Moroccan husband, she told him under no uncertain terms that she did not want kids. He was fine with it. Now, after the birth of my daughter, she says she has reconsidered and may want kids, but not for another two years. If she can't, they'll adopt...hopefully from Morocco.

I don't think all Moroccan men want only a wife to procreate. There are some men that are very content with the women they married regardless if she could have kids.

Christine
