Before you sure them, which would most likely just be a big old waste of your time and money... speak to a supervisor!!!

well my husband is about to call them right now. but u know the funny thing is that i dont think they know what they are doing even sometimes i call and i ask since the NVC says that this particular ques is incorrect how should it be done then what his he doing wrong they just keep telling me well you have to redo the form and submit it again i hear this everyday so i just let my husband do the talking cause i dont want to be rude to them and ruin my chance of seeing my husband we have been apart for too long its depressing

I don't think that the annual income you present on I-864 has got to match what's on your W-2.
Mine did not, because my W-2 shows my past income, and for annual income I wanted to show how much I will be making this year, so I got paperwork from my employer that shows my annual salary and I submitted some paychecks that show same bi-weekly amount I receive, so my annual income is not the same as what I earned last year (i.e. w-2).
So, I don't think that the problem with your I-864 is that the numbers simply don't match, you really should ask to speak to a supervisor and ask to clear that up for you what exactly is not jiving on your form...
Good luck!

well my husband is threatening to sue them and we are way over the poverty guideline plus he is in the military i simply dont know why they keep saying that we dont know what else to do

it was filled out on the computer. this is going to be the 5th time he has to send it in and its the same information thats on his w-2 and his annual income. i dont think they know what they are doing cause u cant be doing they same thing for 5 consecutive time and still be getting it wrong thats just ridiculous . he called them again this morning and they told him that they are not the one who keeps telling us that its incorrect its the embassy here in kingston jamaica

my case is still at the NVC we returned a checklist response for the I864 on the 1st but they just entered it in the system on the 6th . we called them everyday but they said our case is being reviewed so we must wait 2-4 weeks for a reply i know sometimes its shorter than that but if our case is approved do you think we would still get an August interview date
however i dont see why they should take 2-4 weeks to review 1 single document when everything else in our case is correct it should probably take 1 day

Hi munchy - how many injections did u have to get? besides the gardisil, were the other injections expensive? and what about the medical itself, was that expensive? thanks!

i got three other injection it also depends on what is on your immunization card if you can get them done elsewhere before u do ur medical then that will be good and probably cheaper. the medical was not that expensive its just that one vaccine that bring it up so much and the medical itself cost 90 USD but u have to pay for the vaccines different and trust me andrew hospital is cheaper than tangerine place

Hi.. I had my medical last week (13th of april) in Amsterdam.
Same thing, i was outside again in 3 hours and all doctors and
assistants were very kind and friendly.
Had my Chest Xray, blood/ urinesamples taken, checks for bloodpressure,
heartrate, eyes, breathing etc...got vaccinations updated etc..
Anyway, to answer your question; They told me that everything looked fine
(as at your boyfriend) and that they`ll forward all results to the consulate.
However IF they would find something strange or weird in the blood/urinesample
then they will call me before forwarding it to the consulate.
So, if you don`t hear anything before the interview, i guess you can assume
everything is allright!!!
Good Luck!

You can take a bag with you... you just can't take it inside the consulate. You might want to get a folder, or document holder to keep all your papers in.

But then i still have 2 albums full of pics, an extra huge envelope with add. evidence like e tickets, boarding passes, receipts etc....and a thick pile of correspondence....I HAVE to take a bag with me...

Yes, you're not allowed to bring in cellphones or cameras and probably no bags either. If you have any of these items with you the guard will take it from you and return it to you when you leave, so if you need a cellphone it's ok to have it just keep in mind you won't be able to use it while you're in the embassy.

Hi....just a question for those who might have experience with this;
Tommorrow i have my interview, and besides i`m already getting quite nervous,
i`m running through everything to make sure i have everything complete and in order.
I just visited the website of the US consulate (in Amsterdam) and it says that to your
interview you should take with you a self adressed, signed and with 5,75 euro`s stamped
envelope with you.
I never found this in any forms that i got from the consulate and it also doesn`t say anything
about it in my so called checklist from what stuff to bring???
Don`t know what to do now....

Anyone know about this??

(it also says you`re not allowed to bring a backpack, camera or cellphone?!...only on the site as well) :(

Welcome smile.gif

What about the time involved? I have heard conflicting stories about how the CR-1 wich is an imigrant visa takes up to a year and a half to be approved. The k-3 visa however only takes six to nine months. If i decide to go the k-3 visa route, what would the next steps be after she arrives in this country? Change of status of course, but what else would be involved to get her up and working? I know right now i am asking questions and pulling things out the air, but any guidance on which direction i should go (so as to not waste time and money) would be greatly appreciated.

thank you very much innocent.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmy plan is to get the CR-1 visa for my colombian bride to be
Hello all. I am an extreme newbie, so please be gentle with me ha ha... I think i may have been given bad advice. Oringally, my plan was to go to Colombia, marry my bride and then come back to the states. Have a lawyer handle the paperwork for the K-3 visa. But i understand that getting the CR-1 visa for a family member would allow her to work immediately upon arrival in this country. So, is this true and why wouldn't the k-3 visa do this? I was also told that the CR-1 visa takes much much longer to get now. LIke 1.5 years as opposed to the average 4 months for a k-3 visa. Ah, so which is true and which is false? Or are both true and both false just depending on the breaks you get. IN this case, what would be the safer option? My objective is to have her working ASAP as soon as she comes here.

many thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConfused a little on timelines
Hello, I have two questions (more like confirmations on my understanding) on the processing of forms.

I received my NOA1 on August 3rd, 2009 after submitting my I-130. It was suggested that I register on the USCIS to track the form's "progress".

Question 1:

In looking at the timelines at USCIS, it says five months for processing I-130s? In other words five months until I receive the NOA2?? Or is it five months or less (golly, I hope it is less).

If i read the instructions they say that if the office is not meeting its five month goal it will post the date of the last completed form. In the I-130's case at the California processing center, (the one on this site is out of date) https://egov.uscis.g...TimesDisplay.do in the time column it says 5 months. So again, is it five months or less when they post the months and longer if they post the date of the last completed I-130, correct?

Question 2:
Also, I am following the shortcut directions on this site posted here for quick processing of the CR1/IR1 visa: http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut and I guess, these record times are for AFTER receiving the NOA2? blink.gif I guess I misread the timelines in my haste and told my spouse that we could have her here in as little as 21 days whistling.gif blush.gif crying.gif .

You could have her send in another DS-3032 - Here's a Suggestion ™ :

1. use this DS-3032 -
http://www.state.gov...ation/80023.pdf
Fill it out, PRINT IT to another PDF file (using CutePDF/Writer at http://www.cutepdf.com/ ) then email the DS-3032 to her.
2. have her PRINT OUT the DS-3032, SIGN IT, then scan it back in, email it to NVCInquiry@state.gov.
3. Alternatively, she can email it to you, then you print it, send it via postal mail to NVC.

Good Luck !

Can't get to that link. Is there some place else where I can fill in the pdf electronically?

The I-864 - you're gonna need to prepare income statements (IMO ) - have them certified and/or audited by a CPA. Usually, income is looked at as W-2 or 1099 income - so you'll have to 'get them to look another way' with an income statement.

I have the disability stubs from the insurance company that I receive every month. But sure, I see your point with the SSD payments.

Are not my tax return transcripts for the last 3 years, the SSD 1099 for the last 3 years (you get one at the end of the year) and "pay stubs" enough?

The only thing I am missing is the employment letter and the monthly pay stubs from the SSD payments...those are direct deposited into my account. But again, at the end of the year I get a 1099.

The DS-3032 isn't evaluated on income.

I suggest it's rejected because something was wrong with it.

You are being paranoid.

Take a look at this file - http://www.state.gov...ation/80023.pdf

Review the copy of the DS-3032 that you sent in.

I'm guessing it's missing the barcode or the casenumber is not the right one?

Otherwise, relax.
AND - remember - the folk you speak to at NVC are contractors - and only can tell you what they see on a computer screen. You might get better results by emailing NVCInquiry@state.gov

GOOD LUCK (and calm down ! )

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOn Disability INcome and receiving SSD -- $50k per year; choice of agent form, rejected; Related?
Hi

Ok, I sent the DS-3032 choice of agent form in for my honey and paid the $70 fee on 10/8/2009. The NVC system shows the receipt and the status was set to PAID on 10/9. Now, as of 10/16, the status is set to REJECTED. I called the NVC and the woman I talked to said that she sees the 10/9/2009 status.

I am getting disability benefits now from my companies disability plan and SSD that add to $50k (2/3) of my pre-disability salary. My companies disability plan said that I needed to file for SSD, so I have, and am receiving approx. 1/4 of the total amount of the 2/3 of my pre-disabiltiy salary from Social Security.

My disability is considerred life threatening, but I am young and beating the odds. Is it possible, that the NVC just wants me to pay the $400 processing fee and the $70 fee and then wait to reject everything? Thought being, well he has this terminal illness (brain cancer btw) and he will die shortly anyway (ha, that is what i was told five years ago) so, let's reject him now even though he beats the poverty guidelines for a family of 2.

How would they know where I get my income from BEFORE sending in the I-864? I didn't lie on the USCIS forms about where I receive my income. Is that where and why they are rejecting me? Is the rejection and my income related or am I just being paranoid?

I just want to make a new start in life; my ex left me in a bitter divorce after 10 years of marriage. I want to get my new bride from Colombia here to start over. Life starts with a woman and this woman knows about my condition and has accepted me. Here in the states, after confessing my condition, women run away. It sucks, really it does.

Any thoughts or am I just being paranoid? I found a post where a lady called the NVC about a REJECTION status and the NVC said to ignore.

thanks

Hello all. Finally we received the interview letter for Bogota. My wife is in Medellin and there are two 'certified' doctors on the list of docs who can perform medical exams. One she called today and was hung up on by an inconsiderate gringoLoid. i.e., caucasion. I thought we had made it through the toughest part, but me thinks the embassy in Bogota is going to make this the "challenging" piece/part/process.

Anyways, any advice on things like:

- dress (obviously, dress for success; treat as a job interview)

- types of questions asked; best guesses:
<begin>
- where'd we meet? is it ok to say on a dating board, which is the truth, but I lived and worked in Bogota 10 years ago and fell in love with the country and the women...plus we dated and chatted with each online every day, twice a day since this love affair began; have taken six trips there, have pics to prove, have pics to prove the wedding etc...so I am thinking that might be a little special sauce over what might hit someone as a bogus relationship....other option is to just lie, and we don't want to go down that trail...telling the truth is always eaiser.

- they just want to know if the relationship is for real, correct?

<end>

- Other items/papers/articles she needs to bring with her (we received the interview letter and it has all of the codes that indicate everything in the process is paid, received and done). Still, I am going down there to see her and will take what I have and give it to her. Besides the passport photos, photos to prove a relationship, MSN chat log printouts, and the sealed medical exam, what else does she need to bring? Unfortunately I have to travel back to the states before the interview...I really want to be there for her, but priorities in our lives dictate the timing and circumstances.

General help and experiences would be great; and if anyone has gone through the Bogota embassy recently or ever, we would really appreciate the suggestions.

Many thanks. I hope this is the correct forum to post in.

P.S. Is there any way I can have replies emailed to two addresses? I want to keep her up to date. This is a terrific board. We could not have made it through this without the help of this community!

Did the embassy send you or your spouse a list of what is expected at the interview? I know that a list is typically sent when the interview is scheduled. I would refer to that list as some embassies have their quirks.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. We both recieved a formal email from the NVC pointing us to the standard statedepartment.gov site. We looked up the embassy, but just the standard medical exam requirements etc... I guess we are trying to find out the 'real scoop' i.e., I understand that the embassies hire locals to do the interviewing and sometimes, if you look at them wrong, they find an error and send you away, sometimes crying...that was my experience in Ecuador at least when DCFs were common. I am trying to avoid that, this second go around since I cannot be there for her. Want to set her expectations. good.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWork immediately on temp CR-1 stamp?
thanks darnell. Also, I recently moved. IF the SSN comes to my old address AND we go to the local SS office here, at my new address, will we have any explaining to do? I assume we will just need to fill out a change of address form? Or am I treading water already? I don't want to screw this up  I spent a lot of time and "moaney" on this. I will look up "i quit's" postings. Thanks for your help.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWork immediately on temp CR-1 stamp?
We purposely applied for the CR-1 because the processing times for K-3 and K-1 visas are identical now. Not too long ago (from my understanding) the CR-1's were taking years to process mainly because of having to wait for a work permit. In filling out the DS-230, I believe there is a section on there that says USCIS will mail your spouse a SS# AFTER you POE stamp (temp green card) is given, in fact I am sure of it.

She does not have jobs lined up, she just wants to work and make money for her family. This is one of the main reasons we married--she is a self starter and very proud.

Could someone in the know confirm that we will get a SS# (in the form of a green card) in a couple of weeks? And could someone give us a link or a phone number to call to check on its status? This number: +18003755283 is useless and I can't figure out how to get to a real person.

many, many thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWork immediately on temp CR-1 stamp?
My wife was stamped and processed in FLL from Medellin on a CR-1 visa. The customs agent told her that she could work immediately using the registration number on the visa. I thought that she had to wait for three weeks before she received a SS#. She is desperate to work and we are both confused. She asked the guy twice and twice he said she could work using the number. This number is only 8 digts long. You need 9 numbers for a SS#. Plleeeeeeeeezzzz help. Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI made a mistake
Can someone give me their opinion/first hand knowledge of whether i can just ride this out until the CR-1 visa expires? I'd like to divorce her now, and I would win, but I don't want to have to spend any more money on this mistake I made.

thanks for any and all replies.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI made a mistake
Update on this mess. I called the cops this morning and played the tape after they arrived. She was trying to argue emotional abuse but admitted she had hit me. So, in the cops eyes it was a done deal and I thought I had the power to give thumbs up or thumbs down. Actually it wasn't, the power is with them; for if they feel like they need to take someone to jail even when the victim is having second thoughts, they will. In this case they gave her a break. I am not sure if I am happy about this or not. But she is warned that if she touches me again, he said that this is his beat, he knows the story now and will not hesitate to come by and arrest someone. Also, it is a violation of her CR-1 visa that if she is arrested, she will be deported.

I knew she would lie. But I just couldn't see the woman I had spent so much time, money and energy on sitting in a jail cell for 48 hours. Of course after they left she turned back into her normal psychotic self. They left a pink form that they use for domestic abuse cases and it states that I can make a citizens arrest if I need to by going down to the court house and filing something. I guess I will keep that in mind. I have very little hope that this situation is going to change. Thanks to all for letting me share. If you want to know more, contact me via the private message function. I need to get a beer and watch the world series. If any one is reading this and thinking to themselves why the hell doesn't he just get divorced from this psycho, good question. But, I do not want to be sued for alimony and I am hoping against hope for another good month or so before she turns into a monster. And this time, she is gone and back to Colombia for 10 years!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI made a mistake
I have tape recorded all of her outrages with her knowledge--it is my only defense. I know NOT to hit back.

Attacks are frequent and violent:

- she says that she misses her colombian food
- she misses her friends
- misses her family
- constantly reminds me that I promised I would take care of her

On this last point, she wants to work and pay for her own bills which is/was admirable doing what she was doing in Colombia--teaching English. But, I am really having my doubts as to whether she is going to make it as an ESL teacher here. I just don't see her immersing herself in this culture. I have paid for her teching license fee, and am sending her to some high-brow continuing education classes but I just can't see anyone hiring her--the questions she asks me are frankly, silly and should be second nature for someone applying for an ESL teaching license.

All this, and she tells me when I suggest she just go home, she sayd NO; and commences to beating the hell out of me.

I appreciate all of the comments. Are there any members with knowledge of US immigration/domestic viloence law that could add their two cents?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI made a mistake
I married my wife in Colombia and we came back to the US on a CR-1 visa. We have been married 1yr and 6months. Things are starting to go wrong. I saw the signs while I was dating, but ignored them. She hits me and I don't dare to hit back. She is having a very very difficult time adjusting here. I thought we were in synch with money, beliefs, etc... but now I know this is a lost cause. My only defense has been to tape the incidents, with her knowledge. She hits me and then says to the tape, "why did you just hit me" etc.. I want to call the police and file against her. She is completely falling apart. She is making things up about how I just paid to get her here for sex etc. and will use that against me when we get divorced. I am threatening now to go to the police...but, I have been married before and know that it is best to wait and ask for advice. What will happen here? What should I do? Should I file charges against her? What about getting a divorce which she has said she would do when/if I call the police. What can someone advise me to do? Note: Going to a marriage counselor is absolutely not going to work. I just want to be out of this; I made another mistake and now I am paying for it; please any constructive advice. thank you
