kicking.gif Yeah! I'm in the July filer section and some people that were litterly a day ahead of us just got their approvals for both applications. We nearly sent them at the same time and they already got their approvals. Different service centers though. kicking.gif

I have been checking everyday, the only thing that boggles me is why the date keeps changing on the timeline section. (the little box section on your profile where you update your timeline) Yesterday it said Jan 20th now today it says Jan 23 it is constantly changing. Does anyone know if this means anything or how accurate this date is?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnxious and waiting
I sent the paperwork to my lawyer last week on the August 15th, my lawyer sent the packet overnight to the vermont service center. I keep checking the mail and my bank account, (nothing yet!), and from a lot of the post that I read Vermont is the quickest. Should I be concerned? Any suggestions?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa
To FWA guy I think you misunderstood what I was asking here. I was wondering if anyone has ever experianced applying for a tourist visa while waiting on a K1 Visa. We feel confident that he will get a K1 Visa, but we are applying for a tourist visa so we can see one another in the meantime.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa
I was wondering if anyone on here had the experiance of applying for a tourist visa while the K1 is in process. Semih has an interview on Sept 18th and we are hopeful that he will get it. We were told by our lawyer that there is a very slim chance of getting it and even if he does get it he can be denied when he gets here and sent back, but we wanted to take our chances and try anyway. Semih lived here in the US for 5 yrs and went back to his country willingly, he left before his student visa expired. We feel this will look better for him, since he didn't overstay and went back willingly. We are just being honest with them and telling them the reason for the visit is b/c we miss each other and we would like to get officially engaged and make wedding plans. Any suggestions or input? Please keep us in your prayers, we will keep you posted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTurned down for tourist visa
sad.gif Today was Semih's interview and he was denied for the B2 Visa. It was very short one she denied him on being and intending immigrant. So of course I had to research what this meant and the thing that I don't understand is how can she say he is an intending immigrant when he was only requesting 2 weeks in the US for engagement purposes only. When I looked up what intending immigrant meant it stated that it is a person who is planing to stay in the US permently and that we would need an affidavid of support. In which we purposely didn't submit b/c we didn't want to give the wrong impression. Yes, eventually he is planning to stay here but we were applying for a tourist visa for 2 weeks, since I can't get to Turkey to make our engagement official. She also stated that it is against US law to give him the visa b/c he has intent to stay. He then tried to explain that "he just misses me" and she proceeded to tell him that she has a finance in Bolgaria and that he should just accept it and wait until his K1 visa is approved. I personally think her statement was unescessary.

We knew it was a slim chance for approval, but is it really against the law to approve this B2 visa? We were honest and did everything by the book and just feel like she "knocked the wind out of our sail"

Also we were told that his passport should've been stamped denied is this true?

Semih wants to apply again, b/c we heard that sometimes it depends on the person interviewing. What do you think?

Also, just an FYI our lawyer informed us that you can be denied at port of entry even though you have the B2 visa from the consolate. But if I were you I'd take my chance to spend my Christmas with my sweetheart to!
Good luck! Keep us posted.

Semi_Elh, I was hesitant whether to try it or not.. but I'm glad I did.

And yes, I'm aware of the possibility of being turned back at the POE. Actually every time I've entered the States in the past, that has always been a possibility, that is the risk every visa holder has, and now the risk of being turned back at the POE is probably even higher due to our K-1 application.

I'm staying positive, I got my flight booked already and I'm leaving on the 20th. I'm going to be honest with them and hopefully everything will be just fine, I'll keep you all posted when I come back home in January.

Of course stay positve I didnt mean that in a negative way I am sure everything will work out for u. Thanks for your posting, b/c you gave us hope and the courage to try again for a B2 perhaps we may also get lucky. Semih has proof of entering the US in the past and going back to Turkey as well (twice actually) so maybe just maybe Santa will grant our Christmas wish and bring him home for Christmas. Also, I was wondering how long did they grant your visa for?

I have to say I love this site, the people here are a fountain of knowledge and very supportive to.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa Granted
Congratulations! I am happy for you but shocked, b/c we were told that this is rarely done. My (now) husband, then my fiance' applied for a B-2 back in Sept and was denied he was honest and explained how we were waiting to be approved for the K1. The woman that he interviewed with denied the B2 on the grounds that he was "an intending immigrant" meaning that he had intentent to stay in the US, (well duh! that's why we applied for the K1 in the first place) anyway, the interview lasted a matter of 5 minutes and we were so disappointed in the end at the result. What puzzled us the most was that he lived here in the US before for 5 yrs on a student visa and went back willingly 2 times, so we thought they would see him as a minimal risk of not returning. Unfortunately, she didnt see it that way, so I guess it all depends on the interviewer and the mood that he/she is in. Also, just an FYI our lawyer informed us that you can be denied at port of entry even though you have the B2 visa from the consolate. But if I were you I'd take my chance to spend my Christmas with my sweetheart to!

Good luck! Keep us posted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem with Immigration Lawyer - Advice needed!
We went through the same thing with our lawyer and his wife (his office manager) even called me a ###### and hung up on me for questioning our retainer agreement.

We fired him and we were at the end of our process, we completed the final part on our own and recieved even better results, saved ourselves a month waiting time, and my finance is here and we got the K1 and will be married this Friday. Please do yourself a favor, communicate with him through certified mail only and keep all communications and report him to the bar association. Don't stress yourself this process is hard enough with out added stress like a dead beat lawyer adding drama. REPORT THE JERK! We need to show these "dead beat" lawyers that they can't take advantage of innocent people who are just trying to bring home the person they love. They prey on us like the sharks that they are. Sad!
