I usually always fly Northwest, but it really depends on where you are located. If you are close to LAX, there are a lot of choices. I'm in Tucson now, so my choices are somewhat limited for good prices, even if I fly out of Phoenix.


You can always get a ticket to LAX and then book a separate flight out of LAX to your destination. Thats what I do, since most of the choices out of Minneapolis to Indonesia are expensive. NWA.com at best, is $3000, most of the options are $8000

Orbitz has some other options, with the cheapest being, NWA and China Airlines. But I prefer flying on EVA, and its about the same price. Even if I have to book segments seperatly.

American airlines are pretty competitive to common places like the Philippines and Thailand, but suck for more unusual destinations like Indonesia.


Just taking a look at Orbitz, it would cost maybe $200 for a flight from Tuscon to LAX. Then a flight from LAX to BKK on Eva is a bit over $1000. So say $1200 total. Now I just did a flight from Tuscon to BKK on Eva and it's just a shade under $1200. These were just some dates I put in randomly. I won't be going back there until around my fiancee's interview. Hopefully prices will remain decent when that time comes up.



You can get flights to LAX from Tucson for under $90 each way with southwest! Infact, last time we went it was $47 each way, but thats coz we have a military discount!

Now decided that we want to fly into Hanoi and just explore a bit of Vietnam and venture on into China a little before heading back to Hanoi for the return flight. We were looking to go in May for 2 - 3 weeks. The cheapest I've found so far is $950 to Hanoi and $889 to SGN.

Thats what I was thinking about too as I live in Tucson :) Cant get ANY cheap flights internationally from here!!!! So ... LAX is the next option! Thanks for all the info guys :thumbs:

Hey guys - I was wondering if any of you guys have any information on where to get cheap flights from LAX (or anywhere else in the states) to any of the above places. It has been my dream for a long time to visit east asia and finally today, my husband has said 'lets do it!!'. Has anyone had any experience with applying for a K1 visa when the non USC has been through a Tanzanian divorce? We will be applying for the K1 visa but the only doubt in my mind is the divorce certificate that I will be sending from my previos marriage (long story) in Tanzania. I'm a UK citizen by the way. Its been very hard to obtain the divorce - bribes being the only way it would seem to get one without me having to actually go to TZ. I havent seen my 'ex husband' for 5 years and i was kinda tricked into it but again - long story. I'm worried that the us will question the divorce. We filled for it on the 4th sept and received the swahili certificate but had to wait 45days (tomoro) for the English version to be released. I have no idea about Tanzanian Law so any info would be helpful.

OK! So I know that its a little early for me to be asking questions about the interview but I noticed that a question they use alot is 'when did you get engaged/how did he propose?' Well - we didnt exactlly have a proposal - we dont have a date when we got engaged. We just knew that in order for us to stay together we would have to get married. Ok so we havent received the NOA2 yet but we want to be prepared for the next step so there will be no delays. Jamal is in the airforce and we were wondering what he needs to provide for the I-134? If he needs to get a letter about his rank and pay etc - who should he get this from? Also would it be advisable to send a few LES's? You need:

A duplicate Passport

A duplicate 1-94

The Visa is irrelevant.

First of all... try to go the closest Korea embassy and get a passport replace as soon as possible... because without a passport, you won't be able to get married...


And why would that be????

Because the passport/I-94 is the only plausible and recognizable piece of identification that a foreign Fiancé has. That was the first thing the registrar asked for in my request for a marriage license.

To the OP, search around for the passport, to include the airports and police stations. If you cannot locate the passport, well, contact the nearest Korean Embassy (in D.C.) or the Consulate nearest you. Good luck mate.



How many USC's have passports? And they seem to manage to get married OK.

You have of course to provide evidence of who you are, but I have never heard of a Passport being a requirement. I certainly did not, used my DL from memory.



The USC may not have to produce a passport but your foreign fiance will have too. They need proof of evidence for both you and your fiance.

Ok - another question for K1ers. Looking at form DS 156, question 18 says to give spouse's name (even if divorced or separated). If you've been married before, do you really put the ex's name there? That seems retarded to me, even with the question before that asking your status (where you'd obviously put divorced).

The example form on VJ - their status is 'single' so its of no help.



I didnt! But I only just sent mine back! I assumed it was just for people who are currently married because there isnt anything about how and when the marriage was terminated.

I have heard that if you are a military spouse and your husband/wife has orders overseas, you can expedite your citizenship application? What happens if the orders are for the legal residents home country? would that still apply? Afterall, it kinda sucks if you have to go through the whole greencard process again (and the money) when there's nothing you can do about being sent away from the states. My husband may be stationed in Japan, Turkey or the UK (where I'm from) and I'm just wondering. Thanks.

So it's been a long while since I was last active on this board! My husband and I now live in Germany (military orders) and I think it's about time I applied for citizenship, especially since we now have a son. I have been a permanent resident now for 6 years. So my question is this - do I apply under general or marriage? I know that the marriage one is if you have been married for 3 years but have lived in the US for less than 5 years. I'm not 100% sure how to go about it from Germany, but I know it's possible to do the interview etc in the embassy in Frankfurt I think? Thanks!

In he end I emailed them again with an "urgent" title about my interview being next week and they responded within minutes! So they will be rescheduling my interview in November or December and sending the letter soon. Phew!

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion regarding Frankfurt N-400 interviews

So, my husband is AD military stationed in Germany. I applied for my N-400 in July and yesterday received a letter with my interview date - next week! They sent my letter through the military APO system so it took nearly 2 weeks to get to me. It states on the letter that I have 7 days from when it was sent to confirm my interview. The date it was sent was 10/06/2014. Obviously I couldn't do that. So I sent an email - says it will take over 5 working days to respond. Great. On top of it all, I won't be in Germany on the day they have scheduled the interview. I tried calling but no one ever picks up the phone! Not sure what to do at this point.

 

I contacted USCIS back in the States and was told there is nothing they can do since it's all in the hands of the embassy at this point.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionStaying outside of the USA for more than 6 months
How can I do it as a greencard holder? My husband is in the airforce and there will come a time when he will have to be deployed. I do not want to stay in the US during the time he is gone (he is the ONLY reason I'm here and would go insane if I was left here without him) and would rather go and stay with my family. How can I do this without losing my greencard? I would still have a house (on base) and everything else tied to the US, just that I will be going home temporaraly due to the fact that my husband would have been taken from me to fight a stupid war. Does the NOA have an expiry date? I have just moved to Louisiana (stupid military!) and my DL from Arizona is due to expire when my 2 year card does. I'm due to apply for removal of conditions this year and the woman at the Louisiana DMV told me that they will not issue me a license unless I have something with an expiry date! I explained the process and told her it could be up to a year before I actually get my next greencard but she insisted that if I don't have anything with an expiry date, they wouldn't be able to give me a license! Has anyone else had experiance with Louisiana? I think I will die slowly if I can't drive for up to a year. We have just moved on base and I NEED to drive to go anywhere at all!! Thanks smile.gif

Well my health and dental is covered under his military health insurance .. so I guess we could include that ..but the newest thing for that we have is when I was signed up for it in 2007 .. and we have no joint subscriptions or anything of that kind. smile.gif

But what other stuff could we include? That is all we really have! I would think that the fact the US military acknowledges me as a spouse/dependant and the US governement are paying my husband based on the fact that he is married to me is pretty solid evidence! lol!

Ok, it's a while until we file to remove the conditions (in August) but I wanted to start getting everything ready (here we go again! lol). This is what we have at the moment;

Joint bank account statements
Joint car loan contract/statement
Credit cards with me as a card holder on my husbands accounts
Joint car insurance documents
Documents that show me as a benificiary of my husbands life insurance
Joint tax returns for 2007 and 2008
My military ID card showing that my husband is my 'sponser' and i am his 'spouse'
A copy of my husbands military orders with me listed as a dependent
A few joint flight iteniries to various places around the U.S.
A statement confirming that we owe no money on the joint lease for an apartment we rented between Oct 07 and Oct 08 (I threw the lease away without thinking)
Copy of the lease for an apartment we rented Oct 08 - March 09
Copy of the base housing lease my husband signed - showing me as a dependant who will be living with him (because it is on a military base, it is only in the service members name)
Photos, photos, photos

We also have a copy of a cancellation of a mortgage/housing contract that was in both our names. I'm not sure if I should include that to show we were going to buy a house together?

Is this enough? We dont have any utility bills because when we were in Tucson they were always in my husbands name and now we are in Louisiana, we don't have to pay utilities on base.

I have known many women in the military (spouses) who are green card holders who use WIC - I myself have been told that I would be eligable for it if I were to get pregnant. I don't see why it would be any different for non-military.

"Can noncitizens get WIC?
Yes, noncitizens can get WIC. All noncitizens, including undocumented noncitizens, who meet the eligibility requirements can get WIC benefits.

No one from WIC will ask about your immigration status. Getting WIC benefits will not make you a public charge and will not hurt your chances of becoming a legal permanent resident."

It does suck .. When we applied for my K1 and AOS we were living in AZ so had the slow wait of CSC for that ... now we've applied for ROC we live in LA and so now have the slow wait at VSC.... sad.gif

Yey! I just received a text from USCIS telling me to check my status .. I checked online and my greencard was ordered today :) For some reason I cant seem to get the list to look good when I update it so could someone please update it for me :) Thanks!

I just checked my email and they sent me one too telling me it had been ordered!

I was expecting it .. didn't think they would give me such little notice though!! I live in Louisiana and they only have one centre - New Orelans .. well, NO is 6 hours away so I was expecting either Dallas or Jackson and they sent me to Jackson. I'm was kind of hoping they would because I haven't been to Mississippi before so I get to go somewhere new!!

Well, it's about that time again!! I'll be filing mine around 2nd/3rd September as my greencard expires 11/29 (don't want to send it too early incase it gets sent back!). I have everything ready ... I'm pretty happy with our evidence. In regards to photos, I'm only including 10 that date from the time I received my greencard to now. I already sent in photos from before that time when I applied for my visa and greencard so I don't see any point in sending them all in again. They obviously believed that we were together before my greencard date, so no need to try and proove that we were. I'm sending mine to VSC so I'm looking for a long wait .. hopefully not too long though!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsin the 3rd week of waiting for NVC

Hey guys,
as in our december thread already stated. We got approved at the 28th of March and now we are waiting for NVC to receive our case. It's in the 3rd week now and it get's frustrating as hell.
As I checked on other timelines, I saw, that nobody that received the NOA2 at the same day or after us didn't go through NVC yet either.
Just want to check if I saw that right and if yes, then let your anger out here :(

It was supposed to go sooooooooooo much faster after the NOA2 but yeah....I can't tell !!!! *sigh*

I hope that our prayers will be heard and this week will be it!

I'm sure it will get there soon. The good thing is that you are going through Germany and they seem quite quick after they received the petition from NVC! :)
