K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Sent Today!

2 passport photos with our names written on the back
2 Letters of Consent to Marry (Me and Edgar)
2 G25a Forms (4 pages dated and signed for me and 4 pages dated and signed for Edgar)
Copy of my Birth Certificate
Copy of Edgar's Birth Certificate (just in case)
Copy of my Final Judgement of Divorce from my x-husband
5 8X10 photos of Edgar and I
Check for $170
Emails we wrote to each other
Copies of Receipts
Copies of Travel Itineraries
Copies of Phone Records

I know mine was a little bit of overkill, but my package is HERE (please disregard I-134 and support info, it isn't needed until interview time)

Hopefully you referred to the guides before you sent your package off and everything is fine, but I'll mention some things I noticed about your list

Passport photos should be less than 30 days old (date on back?)
Letters of intent should be originals, signed and dated (we actually had ours notorized)
Ours were originals/certified copies of birth certificates (from county courthouse)
Photos need to have the names, dates, and descriptions on back
Receipts, unless they have both of your names on them or have the support of the date on pics are worthless in my opinion

Glad to see that you are on your journey and I hope everything goes perfectly for you.

 Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA little gleam of hope ..
I got my NOA-1 early January and now I see VJers getting thier NOA-2 from CSC that have NOA-1 dates after Dec. 20th.

Think about it .. Christmas Day, New Years Day, and President Ford Day there were no NOA-1's issued because of federal holidays (searching the timeline says none were issued to VJers on Dec 30 either, hopefully this means none were issued that saturday at all). Maybe this means we will fly right thru a week of NOA-2's once CSC gets past Christmas Eve.

Just wishful thinking I suppose ..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChina Marriageability Affidavit
I am the USC. I will be going to Beijing China to marry my fiancee, and so we are making the preparations now. I like to ask anyone with experience with the Marriageability Affidavit. I know I must go to the Embassy in person to get the affidavit, no problem. The appointment book is not yet open for when I will be there (April). But while I wait my questions are:

1. Do I take home the affidavit the same day I sign it and the VO notarizes it?
2. Does it have to be translated to Chinese for the Chinese civil affairs office?

I will take along to the embassy my fiancee's ID, my passport, and my prior divorce certificate. My fiancee is concerned about any delay with the Marriageability affidavit as we plan to marry 2 days later, IF I have the affidavit.

Thanks for your help.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRecord of Money sent to China

I used Moneygram.com. It was easy and I could use it anytime. I could send money to my wife at 1 o'clock in the morning. And the best part was that Moneygram kept a history of all transfer. So when my wife's interview time came about, I logged into the site and printed the 8 transfer receipt and FedEx them to her along with other supporting documents. So I recommend using Moneygram. Truth be told, every money transfer service will give you a receipt. You just have to keep the receipt and keep track of them. Save 'em on a folder. Scan 'em into a PDF file and email them to yourself. Good luck and cong xi ni.

So noted. Now I have two alternatives to choose. Thanks

I decided to go with Western Union as I have no bank account at any of the banks mentioned.
It was easy for me, and my fiancee had no problem picking up the cash.
$14 fee for me. Western Union, quick and easy. Just the way I like it.

Thanks for the Replies.

Thanks for all the replies. I will check with my bank to see if they can wire xfer to China. Then I will go from there. MoneyGram from WalMart is another option I will explore.

I would go with xoom.com send it and you can print all of the receipts has all the information the amount the names and such. Easy to set up an account and relatively inexpensive. You can use your bank account or a credit card for the transactions.

I've checked out Xoom and it doesn't have China in the drop down window for "Please select a country to begin"

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRecord of Money sent to China
I know this is a silly simple question, but I ask anyway. My fiancee and I will marry in Beijing in March, and, I want to send her some money to use to book our wedding party and pay for my wedding shirt. But I would also like to keep a record of the money transfer. For record keeping and evidence purposes, which is best:

1. Bank draft from my bank with her name on it, or
2. Wire transfer via MoneyGram, or
3. Wire transfer direct to her credit card?

I am the USC.

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Certificates

yes. That's what the instructions say. Any places/countries she's lived in for periods 12 months or longer. I say place/countries as some countries allow a national police certificate (like Australia) but some countries states/counties don't talk to each other and so will require checks from each area/town. It is country dependent. Please see the instructions for each country in question.

Thanks for the reply but where do i find the instructions for each country.

how did you pay ?

there is online payment portal for fee payments to NVC - are you using that ?

IF You are not using that, then you need to wait for a receipt to arrive via postal mail.

if you ARE using the online payment portal, then you need to get the receipt, and print it, include it with the I-864.

please clarify - how did you pay?

Usually - there is (for I-864 and DS-230 ) -
1. a barcode sheet and
2. a receipt of payment

Unless something has changed drastically in the last week - you are supposed to send the barcode sheet and the receipt of payment into NVC, along with 'the set' - in this case - the I-864 .

Hi Darnell,

I paid the AOS fee online and I have everything printed, filled out and ready to send, so I also include a copy of the reciept to send in with all the forms.

Thanks

Yes, the link Darnell gave you, that is one of the ones I posted for you above.

As mentioned in the guide, you can now download the form and mail it back to NVC with the coversheet you printed off.

It is confusing, historically they used to send you a hard copy as well, so you could download it or you could mail it back once you received it/filled it out. Apparently they no longer mail you a hard copy - which is wise because who wants to wait for that.

Thanks,

I appreciate all the info from you and Darnell, tomorrow i am sending the I-864 to the NVC and my wife is sending the DS-3032 back also.

definetly download all the forms.. they do not mail them... you might want to also take advantage of electronic filing since you are applying from Canada...

Thanks for the reply....I have downloaded all forms do I wait for a letter from NVC before I send the I-864 in to the NVC?

I would think a few emails per week for the entirety of your relationship would display ongoing relationship. ..

no way that you can prove that you are connected 24/7 by webcam on MSN .. but if you do a screen capture of yourselves chatting occasionally it might help to support your statement (click on the video chat window - click CTRL and Print Screen buttons at the same time .. (this saves an image of the chat window to your clipboard) .. download and install IrfanView from here open irfanview, click edit then paste .. click file then save the picture as a .jpg image to your computer somewhere that you can remember where you put it ..
