The electronic displays read: US Citizens only on one side(no queue). On the other side it said Permanent Residents and Visitors.(queued out of the roped area) (This was April 13th). I normally go through Detroit and have no problems there.

The most annoying POE is Chicago that I have been through this year. The LPRs have to join the visitors line there and not the Citizens line. Be prepared for a possible long wait to get through immigration!

The water bill and power bill are not in joint names, so I would n't include them. I would just include evidence that supports joint financial information. I am a firm believer that 'noise' could cause confusion. which is why I only sent 39 pages!

2008 tax would only need including after april 15th which is the end of filing date.

I did n't include affidavits, but a sworn statement about you being a bonafide couple should be taken as such, and be totally independant on where the signer was born.

I used these guys for the I-134. It allows you to save data and preview for free. I got two points for registering so that allowed me to print my I-134 all for free. I-864 is also 1 point. You need to check the edition date is still valid though..

No, he doesnt need to list every single time. If he just writes a quick note to say he has entered the US many time between the dates of ..... and ..... using the visa waiver programme, exact dates not known. That should be fine.

Thats the only thing I could do as well, I just answered to the best of my knowledge. Since I sent back packet 3 I found an old cancelled passport that proved my answers wrong anyway! Also another of the forms asked for countries visited in the last ten years and when. Thats not easy when you liv in Europe!

Post offices here don't do notorizations. Most banks have a notary on staff so have her go to her bank and ask.

It depends where you are I guess. The post mistress at my fiancees local po did the notorizations for free in the UP Michigan,

They will both need to fill out I-134. Both of then will need to get the form notorised which is generally free at any Post Office. Its important to provide the required supporting documentation such as W2s, payslips and proof of assets or deposits if these are needed

It goes to the NVC for some other checks before being sent to the overseas Embassy. In my case it took 3 weeks to go through the NVC before being sent. It is then up to the Embassy to send out Packet 3.
Meanwhile you can start getting the Police check done!

We have the employers letter and letter from bank but doesnt give the total deposits.


W2 is like our P60. Its the total amount earned in the year by the employee. These are usually issued early Jan in the USA as their tax year is Jan-Dec31st.

It depends on the makeup of the I-134. If you declare savings then you need to supply that evidence

If a K-1 visa, valid for a single entry and a six-month period, has already been used for admission into the United States and the alien fiancé(e) has returned abroad prior to the marriage, the consular officer may issue a new K visa, provided that the period of validity does not exceed the 90th day after the date of initial admission of the alien on the original K visa and provided also that the petitioner and beneficiary still intend and are free to marry. The alien’s return to the United States and marriage to the petitioner must take place within 90 days from the date of the original admission into the United States in K status

From what I understand, or have picked up from here, at the time of interview in the UK the I134 Affidavit of Support will be used to ensure you meet the poverty level. Now, I have seen from time to time that they only appear to be interested in you meeting 100% of this value at this time. The AOS once he gets there is a different matter but the I864 allows for household income, so if he is earning by then you may be able to swing this.

I am in the same sort of situation, my fiancee only earns around 13K, but she does have her own house which would add at least $10K to this amount (divided by 5) as assets.
I have no idea if this is enough for us, technically it is. I will post more after the interview. There is n't much on here from folk that have scrapped through the requirement. I know its a worry to many of us at the lower end of the scale.

Good luck and I suggest you try and find a co-sponsor. easier said than done (I know this)

I did the same as Richi. I sent mine in when I completed the forms. I made comments on the checklist stating when I had ordered the Police Certificate and copy of previous marriage certificate. I also told them when I was available for the Interview, because I spend most of my time working abroad.

The 'stressing' was meant to imply that filling in that sort of paperwork when you are apart is very difficult. I am not saying there are short-cuts, I am just saying the I-134 and the I-864 are very different documents and it depends on the individuals circumstances.

I would just like to add my two cents or tupence worth here....

For some the process involved in the I134 is stressful, as is the K-1. It helps to know that you don't need too much at this stage. Some have got through with a few thousand pounds personal savings and no I134 (Afterall the K1 is only valid for 90 days so you effectively only need to support yourself this long)

Additionally, there is no concept of 'household' on the I134. If you have another income in the household that can be used as co-sponsor for the I864 then the mathematics are very different as it is household income that is the key...

You do n't need a bank statement if you have not declared any savings. If you have letter from employer and the last 3 or so payslips to support proof of income that is all you need.

You need the I-134 for the Embassy Interview and the I-864 for AOS in the States. As has been said countless times over the past few days (quite often to me, in fact!) Make sure that you can meet the poverty guidelines for the I-864 which probably will be needed within 6 months of a successful interview.

The only page they ever look at on my passport for a domestic flight is the photo page.
If you take hand luggage and get an e-ticket then you will only need the passport as identification.

If you check luggage, they may scan the readable strip on the passport (has yours got one of those?) Now I would imagine this only ties up to the airline computer..But......

I have seen the guidelines for the DHS on K-1 visas. It was posted about a week ago, but I cannot find it for love or money.

In there it says something along the lines that a K-1 can be re-issued if not used during a trip, PROVIDING that the validity of the K-1 has not expired and that the re-issuance (I believe) willl have the same validity period. However, I think this is at the discretion of the issuing body.

I am sure someone has the link or will correct me if I am wrong!

Correct. If you can meet the guidelines on your own you do not need a co-sponsor. That goes for assets too. If your salary meets the guidelines without any doubts then you do not need to worry about this either.
