Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)US Marriage registered in Turkey

What does your marriage have to do with his birth certificate?

In Turkey, if you are married, it is reflected on one's Birth Certificate... since we were NOT married there, (as I mentioned before) we were married HERE in the US and when we had our interview, they require that our marriage be on his birth certificate. I was simply asking if anyone has any info on how to get this done here in the US.

a little too late for that

What do you mean "its a little too late for that?

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)US Marriage registered in Turkey
Hello,

My Husband and I were married in Las Vegas and returned to Turkey and had our interview in March of this year. They gave us AP and said that we need to have our marriage registered in Turkey so it will show on my Husband's Birth Certificate. I have tried to contact the Turkish Embassy both is Los Angeles and New York and have had NO luck. Has anyone else had this experience or know first hand how I would go about getting our US marriage registered and how long it takes before it would show on Hubby's Birth Certificate? HELP :help::help::help::help:

Thank you!

Hi All!

I am new here. I hope I can help you guys and I can get some advices!

I am Turkish and My husband is American. My husband has been in Turkey for 6 months. We will send all the papers this Tuesday to Ankara (DCF). Before we send it I have a couple questions.

My husband never got the residince permisson! He went to Cyprus every 3 months and renew his visa. When we called the consulate they said it's no problem as long as he has the entries and exits on his passport. We didn't get any resident visa for him because I talked to a few people they told me If he gets it then the consulate causes a lot of problems (like they tell him to go back to the US by himself and prove his resident there) so he only has the tourist visa. Do you guys think it will be a problem?

Also I didn't see anywhere in the form If we need a cover letter but here everybody says they wrote one. Do we need one?

When we pay the 355$ at Fortis bank(Cashier's check) are we gonna say it is for immigrant visa? does my husband (American) or do I have to get the check?

We will send it this week and one of my friends said that it takes for 8 months! is this true? I thought it takes for 3 months.

Thanks for all the answers :)

Delicate Flower,

MY Hubby and I are going to DCF in Ankara very soon and I have been steadfastly researching and reading the net and VJ (which is a valuable resource) for info on this process. I am attaching the link that I believe you will find very helpful.... How long have you been married and did you marry in Turkey?

Vietnamk-1 horror story

Just wanted to share a true visa horror story.

A viet lady was sponsored by this "nice" american viet guy. Once in the US, he kept her practically locked in the house and only fed her instant noodles everyday. He didn't let her have any friends or visitors. One day, she managed to escape and eventually made her back to HCM city. She was my fiancee's neighbor.

Hi,

It can happen always. It is really very bad story. How long they knew each other and if he is weirdo like that he should had this in his background I think. It is really bad and i wish no one will have story like this.It is really bad because fiancées come to US from far and then have no chice even to do something, but still need have faith and try to go to police.

VietnamMy fiancee needs help with her interview package

Hi.

Does anyone know a good and reasonably priced company in HCM city that can help my fiancee
put her interview package together? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Did your fiancée get the instruction package from the embassy? Why your fiancée do not follow the package from embassy? It is easy to prepare interview package and no need pay to anyone to help you.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Visa granted Jan 5th

All, i hope this inspires all of you to keep the faith and keep your will and confidence. Below is our story of my fiance going to Anakara on Jan 5th for the visa interview.

Hi,

Hulya didnt go to early for the medical exam( 2.5 weeks early) and after a few days she received the results. The day of the interview she went early around 7:30- and waited and at 8:30 they went inside.
She soon was told her passport style photo would not work( they could not see her ear good) , she was starting to freek and then was told she could go nearby and have a new photo made. She did go fast and took a new photo. I can imagine the stress she was under at that point. I can say she thought it was over when they said the photo was not usable . she was thinking she would need to reschedule and come to Ankara at a later time. Wow that was an awfull feeling i am sure.
As it turned out after she got the new photo Hulya was lucky. Her interviewer was a nice guy. He didnt make to hard on her. He could also see we had a strong relationship and that i had been there a lot. we were engaged in Istanbul and we had a lot of proof.

After the interview Hulya called me here in Ohio at 3:00 ish and she was crying and my heart sank. But , i soon learned she was crying for happiness she got the visa.

In the end its all about the good documents and the proof. If you have all the docs correct and the proof it will help you to be confident for the interview. That is what gave Hulya and i strength. We knew we were real and we had a lot of proof. So, be prepared in advance and dont stress to much ok . The process is long and keep LOVING each other and it will work out.
Hulya and i wish you the very best and if you need any help with questions let me know. i wil do my best to answer as soon as i can. Good luck to all of you.
Best Regards,
Clay and Hulya

Hello Hulya and Clay,

I am really very happy for you guys.

I have so many questions heee but of course because we are on half way of our process.I wanted see your timeline but you have no, so i could at least see what is the time frame.I live in Istanbul but interview will be in Ankara as in letter from NVC says.I am not Turkish citizenship.

so here my questions :D

1.How long take Embassy in Ankara send the package with instruction to me?
2.What the validity time for Police Record?
3.How long it take to get visa after interview approved?
4.My fiancée visit me only one time for two weeks but we have many proofs as pictures together, chat logs, call logs, cards, receipts, board receipts, tickets etc. I think it is enough for proof?
5.I watch some interview videos and there they had interview near window, is it what interview or Hulya had in separated room?
6.How long was take interview for Hulya?
Hope i did not make you guys busy
Hope hear from you soon I am very exciting we now waiting our package from Embassy.

Thank you guys :)

Hi guys! Hope everything fine for you and goes well. Actually my friend from VJ ErikaAndHamit helped me out so much. Ty for his/her support. I wanna ask a question if you dont mind to answer.

Yesterday I had my interview at Ankara embassy. And they gave me a green paper which means missing a doc.Consular woman told me that everything is good. But my husband need to summit a bank account which has to have 15k USD on it. (Cuz his income was below for last year) And they made me signed to Ds-230 form and told me that actually they approved my visa but need to send docs first. They gave my passport back. Told me that send your passport with missing doc and green paper. The question is any of you have/had this kind a issue and if any of you got visa after send missed docs? I need your advice.Hope some of you will give me a good news. So I can sleep ..

Thank you in advance.xoxox

We waited 7 months and 29 days (242 days). We did have an RFE but had to file a service request after that timed out.
I feel like it should be close for you. :) Hang in there. You are well past processing times and they should be giving you a speedy service request. (One can hope anyway). Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hello hun, thanks a lot! It's gotta be any day now, right??

I'm sorry it took you so long as well, such a pain this thing  ...But you gave me courage, I'm grateful!

I just five short days ahead of you so I feel your pain :( and what the heck?!?! 120 days? That's longer than the whole process SHOULD take to begin with really. I hope you get it soon. There's still a few hours left today. Fingers crossed!

I know you do...thank you hun! And as for you, it can't be any longer I think! When I see people timing out like that, they seem to get it with a small delay from a few days up to maybe 2 weeks... Oh I'm fortune reading now  But I swear it's time for you!

Hello there.
Did you try calling to see what's going on?? Feb. 1st is a long time :(

Yes, as much as I can get my fiance to call, he does and the output is not much really.
We're currently pursuing the congressman's reply, to see if that generates anything.
We filed 2 service requests since our application topped the time limit.
First service request said to wait for 120 days then if we don't hear anything, to inquire back.
The second one ,which we just received the reply of this week, said to wait 60 days.
Somehow it feels like it might be around the corner, for I haven't heard of anyone waiting longer than
we did. Look below on my time ticker... Oh boy. :wow:

I completely understand. It's a difficult process. Just give the CO everything you can and you'll do fine. Don't be nervous. Be calm and repeat repeat repeat you're marrying the man of your dreams because you are in love. :)

I'll go ahead and print a "Go Team Castro!" t-shirt haha no I'm kidding. But really, I submitted everything possible there was. Well so I thought, now I'll dig into our Facebook messages as well :)

I trust you hun, thank you so much!

Good luck to you!!! :) ya just listen to tolsab she knows what she's saying! I guess I'm not gonna be allowed to go in with my fiancé either to the interview but that's alright! Good luck again and let us know how it goes :)

Thanks Cassie! You ladies know it :)

I can't wait to come back to this thread with good news. Also the highlight of my day was finding out it was very very rare to get a permission for fiance to attend. So no more worries on that department.

Hello all! Merhaba!

I'm the beneficiary, Turkish citizen. Our K-1 interview in Ankara is coming up. My fiance is actually coming to Turkey in that time, so we wanted to find out if we can do the interview together. I e-mailed the consulate explaining the situation. I was told no, though.

Is this something to be worried about? We should have a strong file, yet I'm deeply scared of any AP. I read the embassy reviews and some of them are too good to be true, it's such a relief.

I guess I am just rambling with nervousness, please forgive me. :bonk:

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Medical exam experience (Istanbul, Turkey)
Hello all,

I just wanted to share my personal experience with medical exam and hopefully it'll help you. Your medical exam will be customized to you in regards of your personal condition & history - so this may not completely apply to everyone.

Place of choice : Istanbul, American Hospital

When to schedule it : Basically, anytime after the consulate schedules you for an appointment. But it's best to do it about a week before your interview. Mine had 9 days apart.

The choice didn't matter all that much since I would have to travel to either place. I went for Istanbul as it would be less cold & I was more familiar with it :)

Hotel recommendation : I have stayed Istanbul Suite Home (click this to check it out) a few times without a problem & I stayed at their Osmanbey branch comfortably as a female. It's close to the hospital as well. I was fine walking to it & looking around as I had time to kill. You could also take a taxi. / You can alternatively stay at Taksim,Sisli or Nisantasi it's all up to you.

Documents needed : 2 Photos + Consulate interview appointment print-out + passport + national ID card + money (see cost below)

Medical Walkthrough : Enter through the main entrance and take the elevator up to 2nd floor. Check-up department is to your right. You'll be registered by one of the administrators. She'll ask for your documentation and hand you a 2 page document which you'll fill out with your basic information & disclose the result to the US Consulate's use & let them know who'll be picking up your result.

(For females, it's extremely important to know whether you are pregnant or not before going to medical. You will be asked about it countless times that you might start feeling paranoid about the correct answer. :) The reason why they ask is that some vaccines are not meant to be done when you are pregnant as they are harmful to your unborn, they can cause anomalies as well.)

1. Chest X-Ray : Take the elevator down to floor -1. Hand the paper to the administrator and you'll be called over. Back up to 2nd floor.
2. Sight test, Bloodwork, Blood pressure, Weight & height stats taken
3. Doctor's office visit.

I was actually very proud to see my (Turkish) doctor studied in Harvard :) Anyhow, he conducts a quick questionaire about your health history and lifestyle. As far as I remember, I was asked :

a)

- Are you pregnant?
- Do you have a vaccination record? Have you done any vaccines lately? How about the influenza?
- What infectious diseases you've had? - Clear this with your family as you might've had some earlier than you can remember. (In my case, this was chicken pox and I almost got that vaccine :D )
- Major illnesses? Any surgeries?
- Any prominent health problem in the family?
- Your mental health history - have you ever been suicidal?
- What do you do for a living? (He tried to determine if my work caused any particular danger to my health)
- Do you have any tattoos or body modifications?

b) Doc listened to my chest with a stethoscope, felt my abdomen.

c) He decided I needed the Tetanus & diphtheria, measles & mumps and rubella (MMR-II), influenza vaccines and my nurse did them all.

d) Payment.

Everyone has to pay 307 TL during 2012 Check-up Procedure, if you're reading this later, expect a raise.
MMR-II : 17 TL, TD-Vac : 9 TL, Vaxigrip 9 TL, IM/SC enjeksiyon : 24 TL

Total : 397 TL

Next day after medical :

I was told to pick up my results at 4:30 PM, however I was there from 1 PM onwards. I was handed my results at 3 PM - a lucky coincidence. They give a sealed envelope that you are not permitted to open until you hand it to the consulate. But no worries- because they do assure you about your results. You are also given the original X-ray here - that you don't need to take to the consulate. Lastly, they give you a vaccination card & a copy of DS 3025 for you to keep.

Overall :

Everyone working there were very pleasant to me and I had a very relaxed procedure which exceeded my expectations. I also really appreciated the free breakfast service which I didn't make use of, but I was so happy about it :)

Good luck!

True... I have never been to Turkey so I don't know what it's like. Living in Africa would probably end my life a lot sooner than my fortunate and cushy life here. I really feel for the African people. There is no work, they don't have reliable clean running water and electricity, and there are some really scary sicknesses in Africa. sad.gif I supposed this is a little off topic, but being there makes me appreciate what we do have in this country, and it's why we continue to wait for his visa to come here. My fiance will have the opportunity to educate himself, find good work, and help feed his family back home (oh yeah and never be hungry again himself).

hey thank you WonTanNara . i know before 11 september and after september .. lots of rules changed.. i know about africa too.. i had some afraican friends from nigeria ghibuti and ghana.. i know i heard from them lots of story yes thats sadness. just one thing is bother me i mean i have never been in the state before. if i am for this reason in AP or not... hope someday africa can be change. they are really cool and really friendly.. hope your fiance can get visa soo soon.. i am wishing this for everybody.. bcuz this is too hard and really unhealty for people..hope this world can never see any war or terorism anymore.

While becoming impatient, angsty and upset not to mention angry is a common reaction while dealing with immigrations, his tantrum are not helping the current situation.

He should be understanding and supportive instead of freaking out and threaten you with canceling the whole process. Doesn't he understand that these things take time? Not to mention that YOU have no control of it all and he is upsetting YOU by making those threats.

I can understand the human mind might be irrational at times but he should get his kit together, man up and take a hold of himself. If he is showing this kind of behavior now you guys are going through hard times, how will things become when you two are finally married? Have you consider this?

If I was you I would explain the situation to him and tell him how much all this is affecting you. He is not the only one waiting, there are plenty of cases in here to put as example.

Good luck with it all though!

would like to ask you have you been in AP?

I can not find work i can not apply for any job i can not go anywhere . and yes AP really sucks.. i mean i was wondering i didnt go army yet . I have a army problem i delayed it 2 years.. but after 2 years i will be almost 27 and when i will go army and back from there i will be almost 30 and after 30 years you can not find a job in here. i mean julia and i are waiting since 4 month for this ap thing and the embassy says it takes 4 -6 months . so 45 days later we will allready left 6 months.. in this 6 months if nothing change so what will happen i just onder. i mean julia and i are get marry soon yes.. this is right but where we will get marry this is not important somehwre in the wolrd but being together with julia more important for me turkiye or usa not important this is my idea. i just love julia soo much and she know how much i love her . and ofcourse sometimes this is making me stressfull doing nothing and sitting at home and waiting everyday adding me more stress this is right but i am just depressed about this AP.. i dunno how people can deal with it . i just wanna know and i can really understand i am just simple person if they couldnt still check my security info how they are finding dangerous people?.. this is easy to find me or something about me.. why they are being soo slow that is weird. i was thinking turkiye must be more slow country in this world but usa more slow than turkiye.. anyays.. everything going well right now with julia. sometimes we are having problems yes this is normal but we are not keep fighting or staying on this problems.. want to say from here Julia i love you soo much and you know how much i love you .. you are ith me all the time.. and yes your name on my shoulder.. still on there smile.gif

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Embassy Visit
(Note: This is Julia posting under my fiance's account - I am on his computer in Turkey and forgot his was the account signed in here on VJ when I posted smile.gif)

Sibel and I visited the U.S. embassy in Ankara today to try to obtain more information about her husband's K3 visa and my fiance's K1 visa that have been in AP for 6 and 5 months, respectively.

Unfortunately, we were not told much that we did not already know.

We were both told that the reason for her husband and my fiance's AP is security name check clearance, and not relationship verification, document verification, or because of any information provided at their interviews. We were told the same old bit about multiple agencies performing the name checks, about no reliable time frame, and that there is nothing that the embassy can do to speed up the process. We were also told that right now AP is taking a MINIMUM of 6 months, opposed to 3 months about a year ago. The consular officer told us that if AP lasts a year, they will re-submit the information as it may be an electronic problem. We repeatedly questioned her about an average time frame, but all she would say is right now AP is taking a minimum of 6 months, but to last longer than a year was not the norm. While the CO was friendly and sympathetic, the information she offered was not encouraging and we both left feeling pretty discouraged.

I suppose the somewhat good news is that Sibel has already reached the 6 month mark and Onur and I have been waiting 5 months...so we are entering the potential approval time frame. It is also good to know that the AP is for name check only and that it is really just a matter of time to get the clearance.
