K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long did you know your fiance before you filed your I-129F?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLong Wait Times and Foreign Weddings

A friend of mine from another MENA country was just denied a visa for this very reason. They had what they called an engagement party and she was in a traditional dress, her fiance's visa was denied because they had no proof they weren't married. Her justification was that they would be a "shame" for the family if they didn't go through with it. Well now they have to start all over again. In my opinion she should have said no to the family or waited and filed for a spouse visa. They wasted an entire year. There is a fine line between an engagement ceremony and a wedding in MENA countries. If the CO even suspects there was any type of religious ceremony it is reason for a denial. Tread caefully

What if we dont show them any Pictures of the event? Do you think it'll be a safer option?

I am sure you will look equally radiant in another less traditional dress. Do you plan on showing pictures of this event during your interview?

No i don't plan to show them at interview or anything else but still i wouldn't want to confuse them!

edit: and yes my fiance is from UAE and we're planning to do a huge dinner party for the close family and nothing else, do yall think it will be a problem?

Anything that gives cause for them to believe that you did not qualify for the visa you were given can result in the revocation of all benefits gained.  Is it worth it ?

It's not about if its worth it or not but a event that we as a couple want to hold for his family and friends and its not economically viable to do after getting married in the USA. Also the fact that we'd have to wait until he gets his green card etc.

One more thing is it even better to hold this event after we have recieved our K1 visa?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLong Wait Times and Foreign Weddings

After reading this topic; http://www.visajourn...nship-evidence/

What i was wondering, is it not allowed to have a farewell party/traditional event back at your Foreign Fiances country just before coming to USA for wedding?

Some people are clearly misunderstanding the fact between a traditional wedding type events and a real legal registered wedding. I am pretty sure USICIS Co's aren't unreasonable or stupid and if you are able to explain to them that the reason behind this event was to give last bid to his family and friends in his Country.

What i'd like to know what is the distinction between having a farewell party to traditional wedding to a point where it can get you denied?

Me and My Fiance would like to have a farewell event in his Home Country, nothing official but i will be wearing a traditional dress just for the hell of it and i was wondering if it puts our status in any kind of Danger?

Please any response and expertise in this area would be deeply appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresengaged while was married to USC wife

Mr Abdul Aziz you fraud .. Because of you people Pakistani genuine cases gets AP.. I hope your wife get some sense and case on you and debot you to pakistan. Shame on you .. How can you think about another relationship while u r already married with some one.. Just because you need card ? To live there .. You r are people who are portraying bad impression of Pakistani people.. That's why american's put this country As a red zone .. I'm hoping your fiancé get denied and you also get kick out from US and than you can live happily ever after with you current affair in PAkistan..

lol no need to get hateful people.

True advice would be;

You can be in a relationship with another women while you are married (and by god i do not approve of such act ever) because its a moral thing and will not run you trouble with the law but if you do apply for K1 while you're married is gonna run you into trouble. My advice would be to wait until your divorce is finalized and THEN apply for the visa.

Honesty is the best policy so when the interview do come i hope you have a good reason to explain why you got engaged to someone while you had a USC wife..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo longer Together, How to Withdraw the Application?

So sorry to hear about your misfortune. To make sure that you cover all of your bases, I would suggest that the petitioner write a letter of withdrawal to the intended interviewing US embassy/consulate AND to the USCIS service center that processed your initial petition. Be sure to mention all pertinent receipt numbers, case file numbers, A#, etc. If you are still on good terms with your former fiancé, consider sending them a copy of the letter for their files.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

THanks thats helpful.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo longer Together, How to Withdraw the Application?

Write a letter to the US embassy explaining you are as the petitioner withdraw the petition. Include all information are needed from both of you. Sorry to hear that and wish both of you all the best.

I would strongly suggest contacting the Embassy and USCIS so that both can be sure that the process has ended without negative immigration consequences for either the beneficiary or the USC Petitioner.

Before you make this step make sure the relationship has really ended and there is no chance of reconciliation because otherwise you will start all over again and you both have invested time in this process.

Wish you the best of luck to both of you!

Do i contact USCIS or the foreign US Embassy for the withdrawal of the petition?

As said by Corey, its a must requirement to have. Why don't you go spend some time with him? its almost impossible to get  a K1 without its requirement and even then there are certain situations where you can skip that step and being sick isn't one of them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDocuments to send for Packet 3

you do not need to send the items on the checklist with packet 3, just the completed checklist itself. that is merely a checklist so you are prepared for what to bring to the interview.

i do know that it states on the DS156-K that it is required, but you can just bring them with you to the interview as outlined on the checklist.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOk, Shots or No Shots????

Note: K visa applicants will not be required to meet the vaccination requirements at the time of the visa interview. They will, however, be required to meet the requirements at the time they apply for an adjustment of status with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

This is correct. You do not need them at POE but you will need them done before AOS. They reccomend getting them done before/at the medical otherwise you'll need another medical after you've received them to apply for AOS.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe are sending our I-129f package tomorrow and we need HELP?

My fiance' and I have prepared everything that we need to send our I-129f package tomorrow. I have read from

Step-by-Step Guide on How to File for a K-1 Visa that we need to make TWO copies of the entire package before we send it in. Why is that? Is it okay if my fiance' just scan the paper works he filled in and email them to me instead of printing out the entire package?... what about our photos that he sent.. should he print 2 copies also?

The second copy is for your reference. So as long as you have access to it in case you need anything that should be fine. I brought a copy of it to the interview as well just to be on the safe side.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFreaked out about answer on DS-230 that I gave...

I submitted my DS-230 recently, and I'm kind of freaking out about an answer I put on it.

It was under the "List times you have visited the U.S." section. Honestly, this is a horrible question for me, inasmuch as I have relatives (aunt and uncle) in the United States, and so my family has gone ever since I was an actual baby. I am now 27, and recounting each yearly excursion is simply outside of my scope.

I phoned a lady at the National Visa Center to ask her about this, and she merely said "Just list any major visits you've made. They aren't talking about week long or two-week long excursions, but for months at a time." I, then, did that. I listed when I first visited my Fiance for three months, and then when I went to school in my fiance's hometown for four months.

However, I forgot that before I was on my student exchange, I spent about a month and a half there (if even.) I have a stamp in my passport as to when I entered, but no exit date. Will this be a problem? I'm not trying to commit some perjury, but just followed what the lady at the NVC told me.

is this worth concerning myself over?

Honestly, they never even questioned that section for me and I was kind of in the same situation as I live very close to the border, it's cheaper to shop. I have been there many many times. Nothing to concern yourself over. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStill no info after Tier 2 inquiry AND Senator inquiry

Late Jan filer, accepted 2/4/13. On 7/31 I requested an inquiry from the Tier 2 level for being outside of normal processing time, which I promptly received a letter requesting 60 days before inquiring again.

After a little more than 30 days I decided to contact my senator also. During the week of 9/2 his office did an inquiry to which USCIS requested 30 days.

This week ends the 30 days and is  a week over the 60 days the Tier 2 inquiry asked us to allow. I've called the Senator's office and they said they will 'call next week'. So I called the USCIS and asked to speak with a Tier 2 person. His response was: There is no new info but I can do an electronic inquiry to the office that is processing the case. That office will respond within 15 days. So basically it looks like I'm just starting the inquiry process over again - just to be told to wait 60 more days.

Is there really anybody the USCIS has to answer to? Anybody to report this kind of horrible service to? Does anybody really care? Or is it just another government entity that is too big to care and nobody to answer to?

I'm thinking about just going the illegal alien route and hoping he will fall under the new immigration reform that will be taking place soon.

Seriously, is there a place to file a complaint and expect action to be taken?

Middle East and North AfricaK-1 Visa fees at Abu Dhabi Embassy

Hello people.

To my knowledge and reading around i thought the visa fees payable either online or at the Embassy at the time of interview is 240$ (as mentioned on Travel State.gov website aswell)

But it seems that today when going through Abu Dhabi Embassy website i came at this;

Q8:  What fees will I be required to pay?

A:  K-1 and K-3 applicants must pay a US $350.00 non-immigrant (visitor) K visa application fee.  Please pay the $140.00 base non-immigrant visa fee at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi prior to the interview, the remaining $210.00 fee is to be paid at the Embassy on the date of interview.

So i check Travel State website again and it still meantions this;

K ? Fiancé(e) or Spouse of U.S. citizen category visa: $240.00

So i am really confused what is the amount and procedure for the payment? Can anyone please help.. will be deeply appreciated.

READY means they assigned you an interview. Please check and reject your email, spam mail and try and try again to notify the embassy. Since nothing gets sent to embassy before interview you bring it all so looks like you have interview and don't know it.

Please check your email they  have on file for you,

well its been 4 months since that so i really doubt it, because i send them email each month.

Okay first since your NOA2 what have you done?

1. have you called NVC to get your case#

2. Have you read your consular information page here on VJ

http://www.visajourn...s&cty=Abu Dhabi

3. Have you been keeping an eye on your email from the embassy for your packet 3?

Done all 3!

My status on CEAC has been "READY" for interview since 4th February, thats how i am counting.

Hey

The whole process of our application from NOA1 to NOA2 took about 2 months and now is been almost 4 months (4 months on 4th june to be exact) and we haven't recieved anything from Abu Dhabi Embassy.

The worst part is not knowing anything because Abu Dhabi Embassy has this pretty stupid rule, they dont reply to ur emails concerning dates or delays or anything like that. They could pretty much loose your file and you could wait a year but they still wouldnt reply to your email about your interview date or case..

Anyone else been gone through Abu Dhabi Embassy?

How long did it take you to get the Interview date?

How did u recieve the interview information?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about the tax transcripts for a co-sponsor

No, it really depends on how many people are dependent on your mother. If your dad is one of them and your spouse will also be one then her income should be higher of what 3+(Mom+dad+spouse) people 125% above poverty guuideline and if she is then you're good to go.

edit: Which is also equivalant of an exact amount of "24,412$ USD Yearly". So if shes making that amount or more you should be fine

It depends on what Embassy you're applying through, please fill in your timeline so we know what you're talking about.

Generally what they do is they update applications every once in a while in AP, it could be either just checking out from one place to put in other and if theres something they could request it but it could also mean they were looking to approve it but the medical was expired but either way submit the new medical asap so they can wrap it up.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures6 weeks and still no NOA1
We mailed our I-129F package regular mail from northern Greenland (APO) on Dec 3. As of today, they have not emailed/texted or cashed my check. Additionally, I sent them an email 2 weeks ago and they responded last week that they have no record of our package.

I know our mail can take an extra time to arrive at its destination when mailing from up here, and we had 2 holidays in the middle that probably slowed the process some but at what point should we just accept that we need to resubmit? Would it mess things up if we did resubmit and they eventually received both packages?

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotice of case recieved today but... uh oh
Ok, I previously posted 1/16/13, about it being 6 weeks and no NOA1. I sent our package on 12/3/12 from northern Greenland via APO regular mail and after 6 wks, thought it could have been lost. I even called USCIS a week later and talked to a live person who said he had no record of our file (but how could he really know if I couldn't reference a receipt #). He then recommended we send a whole new package. After 7 weeks, I figured it would be a reasonable move and by the time one of the packages I sent was recieved, I could just cancel the check for the other package and it would easily fall out of the system since the payment wouldn't go through. So a friend hand carried my 2nd package to mail from the US, which she did on 1/28/13 - - a full 8 weeks after the last package was sent - and still no notification.

Today I recieved TWO notices via email and text message. Both sequentially numbered (EACxxxxxxx231 & 232), both sent to the Vermont Processing Center. Does anyone think that somehow BOTH packages were processed the same day? Or has anyone recieved 2 sequentially numbered notices for 1 submittal? I'm not so much worried about the double payment as getting both packages rejected because of duplicate submittals. So far no checks have hit my bank.

Advice?
