CanadaRescheduling Interview

Has anyone ever had success finding an earlier date by checking appointments daily to see if there's been a change?

Curious if I'm wasting my time.

CanadaMedical Review - Toronto - Dr. Seiden

Thanks for sharing this smile.png I confess, the medicals do make  me a wee bit nervous...but I'm one of those people that has the irrational fear of the poking and proddings smile.png

and $15? dear lordy, that's cheap, especially for indoor parking.  (But, I'm used to downtown Calgary parking prices, and downtown Calgary parking is insane...)

I was nervous too. I really don't like doctors, nothing to be worried about though, scout's honour!

CanadaMedical Review - Toronto - Dr. Seiden

Hi Everyone,

Had my medical today at Dr. Seiden's office on Bloor St. Got there just in time driving from Hamilton, 1 hr 30 min drive (traffic tacked on an extra 40 mins, but that's expected on the QEW around rush hour).

Parking is $15 (so ridiculous). I totally got lost in the parking garage (lol)... but once I made it out alive it's easy to find. I arrived at around 7:25 am and there were 2 groups in front of me (A couple, and another couple with twin babies. Adorable.) They opened the door at 7:30 exactly and we all went up the elevator together to the 14th floor.

There's a nice lady at the check-in desk that takes your packet 4 (make sure you have it, not the appointment confirmation as it doesn't have your MTL number on it). She then told us to wait in the waiting room through the door, second door to your right.

I waited a little bit until about 8 and then got called into an office. Another lovely lady (with a Tiffany bracelet that I just had to compliment), took my passport, photos, etc. I had to sign some papers and pay the $300 fee. Gave me a permission paper I needed to sign. Also gave me an envelope I would later need to take to the X-Ray lab. Please note there is a $50 charge to have the results couriered to you if you don't want to come back and pick them up in a few days. She then told me to go with the nurse that was outside the office.

The nurse took me into a little doctor's office. She was nice, but didn't seem like she enjoyed her job very much. lol. She took my height and weight. Also checked my pulse and blood pressure. After that, she told me to take everything off, including underwear (you can leave your bra on) and put on a hospital gown. She left the room to let me change. When she came back she told me to lay back on the table and just took a peek under the gown at my nether-regions. She then told me I could put my underwear and shorts back on, but leave my shirt off and the doctor would be in in a moment.

The doctor came in. He was very friendly, took the time to ask me where I was going and why. Asked how I met my man, etc. He took a look at my immunization records and filled out his paperwork while we were chatting. He told me all my vaccinations were up to date (no extra needles, yay!). Checked my breathing from the front and back and told me everything looked good. He then told me to go back to the waiting room and they'd call me for blood work.

I waited for about 10 minutes in the waiting room and was called into a room beside the waiting room to draw blood. The lady was nice, explained what she was doing and told me not to look. Quick ####### and a few seconds and I was done. She then told me to take the paper I had and bring it to the reception desk where I had checked in and they would give me directions to the X-Ray lab.

I handed the paper to the receptionist and she gave me a map and told me to take a right out of the building and take another right. I followed the directions and had no problem finding it. The office is called Rosedale Medical Centre. The X-Ray lab is in the basement.

Handed the ladies at the X-Ray lab the envelope, they were having their own conversation, didn't really bother to talk to me much, other than to tell me to write my address and phone number on the back of the envelope. They took the envelope and told me to take a seat and wait. They told me to have photo ID ready for the x-ray technologist, but he never asked for it.

He called me in, nice man. Had a friendly conversation with him. He told me to take my top and bra off and put on the gown. They have change rooms for you to do this. Put the lead cape thingy around my waste and took a quick chest x-ray. He then told me I was all done and wished me luck :) I got changed and left, and got lost again in the parking garage.

SUMMARY

Everyone was very friendly. It wasn't confusing at all, they were telling you what to do every step of the way. My arm hurts a tiny bit from the bloodwork. Seems like the hardest part was the parking garage.... LOL. I was worried about nothing :)

TD also offers cross-border banking accounts.. I haven't talked to them yet but that's what I'll be looking into seeing as all my current bills and payments come out of my TD account.

CanadaWhat did you do?--Original I-129F packet for interview??

i brought it in a separate folder "just in case". Didn't need it though. As long as you have everything on the checklist + your medical results, you should be fine!!

CanadaVISA APPROVED! - Montreal - My Experience

I'm so happy for you! I'm happy you had such a good experience.

Btw, what did they say when they asked you why are you moving to the US rather than him moving to Canada?

I answered that we had looked into both options and both required one of us to not be employed for a length of time. We decided that he was able to better support me than I was him.

Thank you!

Yay! Sound slike you had a super easy experience! Congrats!

Thank you :) It went very smoothly.

Congrats!!  I am stressing about my interview already and I don't even have a date!  Hoping I don't have to wait too long for one when I do get to schedule one.

Thank you! No reason to stress, just have everything on the checklist + your medical results and you should be fine :)

CanadaVISA APPROVED! - Montreal - My Experience

Yay! Congrats!!! So happy for you biggrin.png

What did you bring as evidence of relationship?

My interview is in about 2 weeks, but I'm already starting to stress about it XD. People were nice over there?

When are you planning to move? smile.png

Thank you!

I brought a bunch of pictures, and a couple pages of chat logs. They never asked for it at all though. Everyone was really nice. Wasn't overly uptight or serious at all. Was able to joke around :)

I bought a plane ticket for September 9th, 2 weeks away. I wanted sooner, but any other date was $200 more expensive. My visa says issued so that should be more than enough time i hope.

CanadaVISA APPROVED! - Montreal - My Experience
FIRST OF ALL, I want to say THANK YOU TO VJ! I was able to do this without an immigration lawyer and it saved us tons of money. Also, thank you to the people that offered help, God knows I needed a lot of it! Here's what my experience was like:

The Hotel

I arrived in Montreal Sunday night and checked into the hotel. I chose the Days Inn Downtown on Boul. Rene-Levesque. I chose it because it was decently priced and the reviews that I read were better than the Travelodge, although it was about a block further.
I took a "practice walk" that night to make sure I could find it in the morning to avoid any delays. SUPER EASY. Take a right out of the hotel and walk straight down Boul. Rene-Levesque until you get to St-Alexandre. The consulate is on that corner. It was about a 10 minute walk :)

The Morning Of

Woke up at 6am, was ready by 7am. I left everything in the Hotel room (including purse, cell phone, etc.) with the exception of my paperwork. I put it all in a plastic bag to protect it since it was a rainy morning. I left the hotel at about 7:15am and arrived at the consulate at 7:30am for my 8:00am appointment. There was already a line of about 10 people when I got there, but in the grand scheme of things that doesn't really matter all that much.

When the guard opened the door he lets you in to see a lady right beside the door that checks your passport and Loomis Ref Number. She put a sticker on my passport with the Ref number and handed it back to me. Then directed me to the second set of doors which is security. Much like airport security, put everything in bins, walk through the scanners. A few people with me had backpacks, which are not permitted inside the embassy and were sent away to put them somewhere (they will not hold backpacks). Cell phones are also not permitted, but security will hold it for you if you bring it from what I saw. After security, they direct you to go down the stairs and sit in the waiting room.

As per everyone's GREAT advice on VJ, I sat right near the elevator in the waiting room. The waiting room filled up fast. We were only waiting about 10 minutes before the guard let us on the elevator. I listened to everyone again and went directly to the BACK of the elevator. We went up to floor 19 and the back door of the elevator opened up and directed us to a receptionist where she again checked our passport and appointment confirmation. I ended up being THIRD in line.

She directed us to the window to wait in another line to get our numbers. I got C3. I just sat down when I got called. No waiting at all. At the 2nd window she asked for paperwork and took fingerprints. Birth certificate, photocopy of birth certificate, police check, affidavit of support, etc. This admin. process took about 5 minutes tops. She then told me to take a seat and wait for my number to be called again.

My number got called within 5 minutes of me sitting down. I was directed to a private room where I took an oath and she took my fingerprints again to make sure I was the same person they just fingerprinted. She asked the usual questions: How did we meet? When did he propose? How often do we see eachother? Have I met his parents? Has he met my parents? What do I do for a living? What do I intend on doing for a living in the US? What does he do for a living? Why am I moving there as opposed to him moving here?

She then stated "I have approved this Visa." And handed me a "Welcome to the United States of America" paper that had further instructions on how I was going to get my passport. She was really nice and we were able to laugh and joke around during the questioning. My waist belt broke and she offered me a safety pin hahahha. I was out of the embassy by 9:30am.

Got back to the hotel, packed up, and headed off on the 7 hour drive home. By the time I got home my Visa status already says Issued!!! Kudos to MTL for making this quick and easy.

CanadaMontreal Interview time

check out my review. I had my interview monday so it's very recent.

Alright thanks!! I didn't think of that, so I'll be sure to do that now.

No problem! It's the first thing they ask for at the door along with your passport so keep it handy :) ready my review to prepare yourself if you'd like! Good luck :)

CanadaInterview coming up

So my interview date is on Sept 13 and just making sure everything that needs to be done is done. My medical is this Wednesday and I've signed up for Loomis...anything else I need to do? By the way, after signing up for Loomis, anything else I need to do on that front?

Make sure you have all items on the checklist. Work on getting the long form birth certificate and police check if you haven't already as those could take time.

Print a copy of the summary page that has your fee receipt number as well as the loomis branch info and bring that to the interview as it is required.

Sorry to invade your thread, but how do you sign up for loomis? I know when I booked my interview I had to choose the nearest loomis location, was that it?

That's it. :) Easy as that! Again, make sure you print a copy of the summary page that has the receipt number and loomis branch on it and bring it to the interview!

CanadaCan I slowly move my belongings to the US

personally, i wouldn't bring any household items and run the risk of being turned away. I did, however, bring a ton of clothes (way more than necessary) every time i visited and just happened to leave the ones I don't wear ;) never got questioned about it.

CanadaGoing to US

Hi

I'm sure others have asked this kind of question ...

We submitted our CR1 application with NOA1 dated May 21st 2013. I'm currently on Mat Leave till April 1st 2014. Do you think the border officer at Pearson airport will let us (my baby and myself) through if we plan to stay in US for 3months (Nov to Jan)? The return date might change if NOA2 comes out sooner which we doubt would happen. We read that the application process now can take up to 1 year and we would like to spend US thanksgiving and New Years together and for the little one to meet his grandparents in US.

I know I need to bring documents to show ties to Canada, such as employment letter stating that I need to return to work to "repay" the time for my mat leave top up.

Any advice is really appreciated.

As the previous poster said, all you can do is try. Just bring as much proof of ties as you can. Maybe a lease/home ownership or some utility bills or something to prove that you have a home in Canada as well. Explain that you're visiting over the holidays for the baby to spend time with the family and you should be fine...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsRFE request - now how much more time?

it really depends on how simple/complicated the RFE is... TECHNICALLY they have "up to" 60 days to process RFE's, but they usually only take about 2 weeks. Mine was approved 2 weeks + 1 day after the RFE was received.

That's a month !! mad.gif

I am wondering if they use the turtle for shipment or what they are doing ?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsdoes changing of address effect the processing time?

i kind of have this question also... i am the beneficiary, i've already sent packet 3 to the embassy but i've now moved (had to move into my parents guest room until i can leave). i know the people living at my old address and they've agreed to contact me with any mail, but is it worth the effort to change the address after i've sent all that paperwork?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsinterview documents

Hello All!

I booked my interview for October 9th, 2013 and I'm so excited!!!

I need to know what order to put all my documents in. I have my copy of my first packet, and everything ready for the interview, I also need to know how to put it together. I know the initial petition was not allowed to be binded, stapled or anything else, what about this packet?

Right now i have everything in a 3 ring binder in clear sleeves, all pages visible (front to back) for my benefit, but when i take it to the interview, how should it be presented?

Thanks everyone! you guys have been awesome!

Congrats on getting an interview date!

Honestly, the order doesn't really matter all that much. Here's what I did:

I had 2 folders.

In one folder, I just used the checklist as "table of contents" more or less and put them in the order of the checklist with the medical at the end. When you get to the window they ask for items individually so however YOU can find them easiest is the best :) These were the items I knew I needed.

In the second folder, I put the the copies of all other items we have sent. The entire I-129, the entire packet 3, etc. I didn't even need to open this folder but it's better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDamn RFE! Any advice?

Hi there,

Follow what the RFE says EXACTLY.

Since you are the beneficiary from what I gather, it clearly says on the RFE that the petitioner, your fiance, needs to submit the G-325A. You are not required to at this point.

The RFE also clearly states the intent to marry letter has to come from you

Hello VJ!

We received our RFE on August the 29th.

I'm uploading the picture.

My fiance and i filled the forms G-325 but they request on the RFE the form G-325A from my fiance. (i guess that is a new form)
My question here is. I didn't filled the form G-325A either which is weird why they ask only the one of my fiance and not mine. Should i also send my G-325A form?

The other letter i already sent it with the initial package. Probably they lost it. Should i make something special in the letter?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!s5h2.jpg

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat to expect at Point of Entry

Hi there, I can't get into specifics as that wasn't my POE. But what I can tell you from my experience is they don't really ask any questions, they just reiterate that you have 90 days to get married and apply for AOS. The I-94 is online now, so you get it yourself after you arrive. They no longer give you a paper.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow long does it usually take for Montreal embassy to send Packet 4?

Thanks for that! Just wondering if you had to show a physical appointment letter to the panel physician when you got your medical. I'm afraid that if I never receive a packet 4 in the mail, but have been advised by DOS that that it's okay to book an interview, that panel doctor won't make an appointment for me without a letter/document to show them that I'm okay to schedule a medical.

Because I got packet 4 by e-mail I printed it off and used that. You do need packet 4 with the case number on it at the appointment.
