K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune 2008 Filers!
We have good news!

Dan went to the infopass appointment yesterday and they told him that we got assigned to an officer on Nov 13!!!
She said realistically we should hear something within the next 2-4 weeks.
That is great news for us! Let's hope it is going to be an approval so that the rest of the journey goes smootly.
I am so excited. It might mean that I will be able to leave when Dan leaves Germany again Feb 2 or at least shortly after. I can already smell our NOA 2. yes.gif

I am sooo relieved that our case is still there tracked and that we seem not to be in additional security checks!
So all June filers still waiting, keep hanging on! Hopefully we will hear something before Christmas, my friends!

Hey girl, any development on your petition yet?

I just checked our USCIS online status. It still says:

Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.
On October 31, 2008, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response....(blah...blah...blah...)
blink.gif

That's exactly what they'll tell me if I called USCIS call center. I'll have a good laugh telling them I'm about to get my iterview. headbonk.gif

Girl, have you tried asking for next level support lately? Those robots from level one read only from the never-updating website. They know nothing else.

BE BLESSED!

Chibby, haben wir schon gemacht!
Didn't work. USCIS just repsonded that we are within timeframe of 6 months and gave that as a letter to us. Ok, so we will come back with our congressman on day 180! tongue.gif

Daniel is having an infopass appointment next monday. Not sure if that helps, but we hope to get some more info (if we are stuck somewhere or already assigned for example).
I mean I don't need to be worried for our wedding as long as we have it until 200 days of waiting (which I think was a reasonable timeframe for USCIS to work on our petition).
But I'd rather not wait but get active until then. Yeah maybe we have NOA 2 at day 170 or 195; but what if not?! (Am I not really German?!...hahahaha)

Hey, thanks for checking on me guys!!
Yeah we called last week again and (surprise) NOTHING!
Ok, we just decided to wait now and try it once more when the 6 months are over and then we will bug USEless USCIS with our congressman again! Skeez& Titanic are still waiting too sad.gif

Fortunately, Daniel booked already a flight to come and see me again (thank god he can just go and leave his home since he is a student). We will spend New Years and the complete January together here with my parents. If we haven't heard anything by then we will have to make alternative plans anyways. But honestly, for some reason, I am confident we will hear something before the year ends.

Hope your upcoming interviews will all be going well!!! I'll be thinking about you!

Well as it turns out, our visa did in fact go to NVC, so as I thought, the woman at the VSC call centre was talking complete BS about it going direct to Prague!! In fact, even though they have mailed us an NOA2, they have no idea they did it.

Can anyone help with a question about the affidavit of support? I returned to Prague from the USA in August and have stayed here since. Kyle was out with me for my brother's wedding in August, and brought the I-134 and all corresponding documentation with him. Will it still be valid for an interview in December or will we have to redo it?

I finally have police cerificates not only from my home country of South Africa, but also from England, Germany and Czech Republic - having lived in each for more than a year. It took 5 mins from CR, 2 weeks from Germany, 6 weeks from SA and 7 weeks from England! Interesting...

I'm so excited, its nearly time to return. Hopefully I will get an interview in Prague really quickly as CR just had their tourist visas to USA waivered and the embassy shouldn't be so busy now. My xmas wish - to be back there with Kyle!

It just amazes me how disorganized VSC seems to be at the moment...My x-mas wish: to get approved by then! ;-)

Just a quick note: We called today (1st level staff) and nothing new. Our case is still pending. People, I am fu*** scared.

Panterchen, I would try talking to someone on the second level! The first level staff are just reading from the same computer system that is not updating properly. When I called about mine, the first level staff kept on repeating "still pending", but when I reached a supervisor, he told me I had been approved 5 days before! In fact, when I told one worker that I wanted to talk to a supervisor, since I knew the computer was having problems, she told me "Oh, that's where I am getting my information, let me escalate your call." She was one of the rare nice ones! star_smile.gif

Good luck!! You will get your approval soon! good.gif

Yeah, I know. But we heard stories where even 2nd level staff didn't have the correct info either. It's unfair to see all July filers getting their approvals while there are some more in June and May waiting. But as a fact we won't be able to change things even if we call them daily which always makes us even more frustrated as the staff most of the times is rude and unfriendly and just tells as the same bullsh** we all know about "cases are processed in order" Yeah sure, and I am Santa Claus. devil.gif

Dan is gonna make an infopass appointment to find out whether we are in security checks that might cause delays. If not we will wait our 180 days and then try to get a hold on our congressman again. I am thinking about trying out the RFE trick too and we will for sure do after 180 days but I am kinda anxious it might cause us even more trouble since I have read that some people ended up in AR after that.

Hey guys,

we called last time last wednesday (November 19) before Daniel had to leave. We want to call before thanksgiving this week again to try and get good news. Saffa who got approved last week mentioned though that they got their approval notice in the mail while on the phone USCIS said they were still pending as well. So calling USCIS seems kinda useless too. Skeez&Titanic are still waiting too with same NOA1 and same last touched. We are probably in the same pile.

Timewise we are ok as the wedding is planned for March. I am just horrified that we become one of those unlucky cases of 6 or even 7 months+ waiting.
Thank you guys for all your suppor! We really appreciate it.
I hope you are all doing well.

Panterchen--I know how you feel! It was the not-knowing that really made things terrible for me....I really thought that you would have been approved around the same time as me--I think you are SO CLOSE! It's so weird, I was looking at the timelines and mine is the last one in June that has been approved from VSC.
Now they are onto July and August???????? What is going on!! headbonk.gif headbonk.gif

Thanks for still checking in here every once in a while. Seems like there is only 3-4 June filers here left that are active. Who knows what happened to our files. Maybe our officer is on thanksgiving vacation, got sick or we are on a pile with the people that got in later and were not worked on for one month...I don't know. And I don't really care as long as we are approved by mid-January (which would be around 200 days)!!

I'll for sure be in Washington D.C. some time and pay you a visit.

I cannot tell how horrible I feel right now. I mean sure I know some people just take that long. If average processing time is 142 and a lot of people get approved before that it also means that there are a lot that have to be approved after that average period. What freaks me out though is not the waiting but the not-knowing. And even if we should hit 180 days USCIS will just put us of and of and of (another 30 days, another 45 days for service request reply etc.) Let's hope it won't come to that. But right now my mind is only on NOA 2 and what we could have done wrong and how we could solve the problem. I cannot even eat anymore. Dan and I worry a lot because it puts our lives on hold pretty much.

I have no idea what is taking them so long with our petition. Once I have my NOA 2 you will be a pro and can help me. smile.gif
Good luck for your interview. I am sure it will go smooth.

I was hoping we'd have the interview the same day and meet in Frankfurt or something lol. But I'm sure you'll have your NOA 2 coming soon, it's probably on the desk of some lame a** officer. At least you know they still have it in their system. You'll be good with your March wedding date, Noa 2 will come in December smile.gif as a christmas present.
And of course I'll help you, but I think you're pretty well prepared by yourself right now, aren't you? wink.gif

Question about medical: My SO had her K-1 medical exam yesterday at BNH in Bangkok. First, they gave her all the vaccinations (apparently), running up the cost to more than 6,000 baht. I was a little upset about that, as she does not need to get those until later, but anyway, it's out of the way now ...

My main question: I was under the impression that the doctor sent the medical report directly to the consulate. Instead, they've handed it over to my fiancee. Should she mail this to the embassy herself?

I have never heard of that either. Are you sure they handed the whole report to her (incl. x-ray etc.) or only the form where they indicate the vaccinations she had and got there? The latter she will need it for her AOS once married.
If she really got the whole report, maybe I would try to call doctor and/or embassy and ask about it.

Dan called NVC and USCIS again today. We are still not approved that is sure. However, we were more lucky and they were nicer this time.
This lady now said that once we hit 180 (6 months) they can do more for us. She didn't say what specifically but it seems as they are still claiming a 6 months process time and not 9 or more (like their update says).

To Panterchen, Crazy and Mad, and to all this may concern,

Our timeline says: Your I-129f was approved in 172 days from your filing date.

-and we were barking up for our NOA2 since we reached out 120th day!

Mike's been analyzing timelines (lol he lives here) and he's convinced there's something about the 120th date... it's kinda like the maturity mark, and USCIS will have to touch the case.

I couldn't tell you to be patient because we never were. All I can say is keep trying, cuz you're almost there - especially if you're around your 150th day. Call your service center. It's ok to always call - these reps are all call center agents anyway, and there's tons of them. Once a day isn't enough. Keep calling and get level 2 support. Keep calling til you hear good news.

I should say this: if you are still waiting for NOA2, it's not yet time to bug the NVC. If they don't have your case yet, what can they do?

So again, call your particular USCIS center and get level 2 support.

I cheer you on!

~Gracey

I have also been analyzing timelines of all June filers and I can confirm what Mike said. Most people get approved between 120 and 150 days. Only 2 lay outside of the 150 though (with 154 and 151 days). So there is still some hope. ;-)

By yesterday I could see that among all June filers 70 got approved, 17 are still waiting and 9 I didn't know because they haven't been here for a while nor did post anything. Among those 17 waiting, there where 5 couples where could be inferred that they have approximately the same timeline as ours (very close, or even touched the same day).

However, I don't think that we can change things by keep calling them? Or do you know more, Mike&Gracey?
All they told us when we asked for why it is taking so long for us while we know others after us got approved then they just said "cases are processed on an individual basis. Your case is not outside the normal processing time which is March 7th and so there is no reason to worry or complain". I don't think they mark somewhere that you called or complained or are over a certain amount of waiting days.

However, we got a reply from our congress man with a letter from VSC 2 days ago (!) stating that the processing time right now is 6 months. I don't know why they changed it last night but maybe there where just too many people freaking out also because of the trouble with the computer system (like us).

We won't give up hope that it'll come soon. Once we hit 6 months we really need to figure out what to do.
I am just happy to know that once I have NOA 2 it will only take me about 6 weeks to get the interview. And that is still better than in most other countries I have seen.

May everything go smoothley for all of us!!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Ok, so NVC apparently isn't any better than USCIS. We gave them our case number and then the guy asks us if it was approved; and we said "not sure we want to verify since the computer system is down" and then he just answered that they will not get the case until we have an approval and refused to check if they even got it. Geezzzzz have you seen all the K1 approvals at CSC last week??? I wanna cry!!! And even the K1's from VSC?? What about us K3's? Is a wife or husband now less important than an Fiance??

Even though we have filed a K1 I wonder about that too.
I mean how can it be that you marry and then have to be apart for soo long esp. since I have seen that some of the married couples here have kids. I don't get it. But then again it seems CSC is much faster than VSC.

We have filed June 24 (NOA1 date) and still nothing while others already have their visa now that filed with us. According to VSC we have been assigned to an officer since Nov 13. Don't know what he /she is doing. Sleeping?! Does anybody know here how long it is supposed to take after you got assigned to an adjudicator?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAdmin processing a big secret?
I am really sorry to hear this happening to you especially as you were ill-prepared and didn't see this coming.

For all I know, Administrative Processing happens regularly either on the 1. stage waiting for the petitions approval or even at the embassy stage which happened to you and your husband. AP regularly happens if your name (do you have a very common name?), for example, caused a hit in one of the databases (somebody who is wanted by the FBI, terrorists, criminals and such) and thus has to be solved before the process can advance. AP can take as little as 2 weeks but can also take several months or even years while USCIS won't ever tell you anything more than "you are in AP".

I am sorry that I cannot give you any better news. Maybe there is a waiver available for your case due to extreme hardship but you need to look into that or wait for these experts here.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting for VSC - STILL
Hey guys,

I can totally feel your frustration! We are K1 but our case wasn't touched ever since July 10. What the h***?!!?! They start approving Sep now and here we are...waiting. Infopass people told us everything is ok, not hung up in security, noone just looked at it yet. Great! They said we got assigned to an officer November 13 but I honestly start doubting that. I mean...we have January now!

Hang in there. I know for K3 it is even tougher especially for those of you that have kids. Being away from the one you love is horrible enough, but having to wait without knowing when this will be over and accumulating more and more expenses because of being apart is even worse!

US Citizenship General Discussionneed help: Loss of German citizenship and US oath ceremony
Mimi,

when you wired the money did you make sure to tell BOA that all fees associated with this transaction should come out of your account? Typically, fees are assessed twice: once on your end and once on the recipient's end for international wires (typically another Euro 20-25). I knew that when I made my wire but in addition to having had all fees come out of my account I also wired more because the bank wasn't sure if it would work (I'm in the midwest. Not many international wires going on here)...So I ended up slightly overpaying and of course didn't get anything back...Oh well. Just make sure that they receive the amount they need and that you won't have to add another Euro 20 in exchange for another $35.

I just recently went through the BBG process myself and am currently undergoing the US naturalization process. I submitted my BBG request mid December and got approved in February. Then I had to wire the money, hear back from the consulate, get the BBG to the nearest consulate representative and pick it up...So I finally got it last week. It all takes some time and the consulate isn't too quick in forwarding things. Meanwhile...I started the US process in March when I knew that they allowed me the BBG. Because that isn't a sure thing either so you must have been pretty sure that you would get permission and it sounds like everything worked out on that end.

Anyways...best of luck through the rest of the process.

Sorry for the late answer...my decision date (approved) was 10/19/2011 but I got the approval letter 10/24/2011 and the card came 10/31/2011. Again, my online status didn't say anything other than "petition received" and I never got an email or anything when the decision was made.

Please add me to the vsc approved list. My letter that I got approved came yesterday even though my case wasn't updated online when I checked on Sunday. Finally!
