If you click on "Tucson" or "Thailand", you can see other members who are going through that local office and consulate.

Please forgive me for being so ingnorant, but where do I go to find Tucson or Thailand to click on? :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHi, I'm bran new here...
I just joined here and filled out my 'Visa Timeline'. I don't see any place here to enter any personal information though. It seems to me that a place with this much infomation would have a section where each member could fill out some sort of bio. Maybe I am missing something. I wonder if here are any others such as myself, living in Arizona, who's fiance is in, or who's wife is from, Thailand.

Are there other forums like this one, but maybe geared towards helping couples from similar backgrounds, from the same parts of the USA, to have the opportunity to meet each other?

It would be nice to come to a forum like this and be able to find other people who are bringing, or who have brought fiance's to Arizona from Thailand. Is there a way to get this information? Are USCIS immigration details public records? Would it be possible for me to get a list of recent immigrants from Thailand to Arizona?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeeding help with the G-325a (biographical) form...

Réjean (Canadian fiancé) is here with me, and he leaves tonight at 8:30 pm. We're trying to get all our forms finalized to send in for the K1 visa, but we have a problem with one part of the G-325a form. Under the "Applicant's residents past five years" part, one of the cities will not fit in the space no matter if it is hand-written or typed. It's a city called "St-Jean-sur-Richelieu". He filled out and printed the forms while I was at work, and he put in the box the partial name of the city and thought it would be ok. Not quite, honey.

So, what should we do? Hand-write the whole name to the right side of that column? Attach an additional piece of paper to clarify? Will we have to reprint the forms and leave it blank with something like "See other page"? I have no idea what to do about this, and we really do not want this package sent back.

I know, we should have finalized this way earlier.

Also, his signature is more of a character than his name... is that going to pose an issue?

Thanks for your help!!! :)

Well, I'm new at this, but I did had the same problem, and as i did with the I-129f, I attached a continuation sheet, and in the space provided I put 'see attached continuation sheet' - I titled the continuations sheet "Continuation Sheet for G-325a for <name> Question <x>.

The only thing I did not do was sign the continuation sheet, which someone told me I sould have, and I'm not sure what they will do about that.

Thats my two cents, but I'm new here - just trying to help :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are the most common mistakes made on !-129f's?
Thanks everyone, from what I've been able to gather, most requests for additional information involve evidence that the relationship exists, I sent copies of airline tickets for two trips I made to Thailand, hotel receipts, 2 photos of us together for each trip, a copy of a chat log chosing a day from each of the past 9 months, receipts for flowers and gifts, copies of emails, and a copy of my receipt for her diamond engagement ring, and a long letter telling how we met and fell in love... hopefully that's enough!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are the most common mistakes made on !-129f's?
Someone told me that every continuation page attached to the I-129f had to be 'signed', and that the 'statements of intent to marry' had to be notarized. I guess I should have found this site before I sent in my application. I have gone over the checklist and I submitted everything on it, and more...

One time I called USCIS and got a very helpful person, he basically told me that how strict the guidelines are going to be enfored depends on the person who processes the application. Another time I called with questions the person basically told me they could not help me at all, just read the directions and do as they say.

If in fact I did need to sign every continuation page, (such as an address that would not fit in the space provided), what will they do?

If I discover something that I missed, or want to supplement my I-129f, can I do that now or do I have to wait?

I was looking for a list of common mistakes made on visa applications, and didn't find anything. When USCIS sends out a request for addtional evidence, is that usually because the application was in some way incomplete?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRequest for help in editing my Visa Timeline
I see on other peoples timelines, they have things inserted like dates they met, or trips for visits, and when I go to edit my timeline I don't see anywhere to add that kind of information. Also, I want to know what a 'touch' is. I just submitted my I-129f petition and when I log onto the site, all I see is 'last updated' - if that date changes is that called a 'touch'? How do I add a 'touch' to my timeline? How soon should I expect my 'first touch' - (lol, that sounds almost sexy doesn't it? - reminds me of the Madonna song 'Like a Virgin' :D)

Bill

PS I notice that some people have their timelines appear with their posts here, but I don't see a button that will allow me to insert my timeline to my posts. Is this done just by 'cut and paste' or is there something else I am missing?
TucsonBillMaleThailand2006-07-31 12:58:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOk, idiotic question I'm not going to like the answer too, butttttttt
I'm new at this myself, but I would think that photo copies of the passport stamps would help, as well as copies of credit / debit card statements for purchases and / or cash withdrawals in your area, and also I've heard that the receipt for, and the photo of you with an engagement ring can be a biggie. I'd put in my continuatin letter regarding how you met, that you're sorry that there are no photos of you actually together and explain why, (not knowing in advance that you'd need them). Try to chose some photos that an average person could look at and reasonably determine they were taken at roughly the same time. Take a photo of you and your son together, preferably him wearing the same cloths, so that they can see that 'quacamole kid' is your son.

I'd file the I-129f now and get the process started, if they request more evidence of an ongoing relationship before your next opportunity to do photos, have him write a long letter professing his love for, and send a photo of him kissing an 8x10 of you~!

:D - just my two cents

Um...

When I first started looking into this whole 'Fiance Visa Thing' back in April, I scheduled for one of those InfoPass appointments. Petitions at that time were being processed from February and I was quite naive' and thought to myself "WOW! Just fill out the papers and she can be here in 3 months! NOT TOO BAD!"

We made plans for a late November / early December wedding... little did I know...

*SIGH*

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiancee's child has a different family name than my fiancee

I just petitioned for my Filipina fiancee and just realized that her daughter's family name is different than my fianee's family name. Although my fiancee was never married to the father of her daughter, the daughter still took the family name of her father. Her daughter has been in her custody the whole time and the father has never supported the daughter in any way.

Will it be a problem for her daughter to be granted a visa if her family name is different then the family name of her mother?

I know is the US, the mother is usually given the parenting rights in the case of a nonmarriage birth, is this also the case in the Philippines? any help on this issue would be great.

Many thanks....

I've got the same situation, i just included a certified, translated copy of the childs birth certificate showing the name of the mother and father. I'm sure that a woman having a child with a different last name is not something uncommon.

Another possibility would be to go ahead with the cerimony, and do the actual legal marriage after the visa. My fiance and I are having the 'cerimony' in her country, and then flying to the USA to make it 'legal'.

Just an idea you might want to consider.

Things your might want to include:

Photos of the two of you together <-- biggie
I've read that a copy of receipt for engagement ring is also a big plus
Read back through the instructions carefully
Make sure every form is filled out completely

You can add your visa timeline and such by editing your 'signature' on your profile page.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone brought their fiance's child to the USA?

I brought both my then fiance's (now Wife's) children ages 10 and 16 to US just a few months ago. I have two daughters also the same age as Val's (our) other children. The interviewer asked them if they wanted to migrate with their mom and live with me.

They start school here in about two weeks and will need help with ESL. The shools have told me that the kids will not have any problem at school not knowing much english. They have had no problem making friends including their many new cousins. My only big concern is the oldest really wants to take driving lessons (Yikes!) and start a part time job (awaiting EAD) but of course, he needs to learn to talk and write english much better first.

I think you will be alright and the best of luck to you.

The schools here tell me the same thing, let's hope they're right! I sure wish I knew another couple here in Tucson that had a girl about her age that came from Thailand, I guess I can try to make some inroads with the Thai community here. I worry that she'll be bored, because me being the youngest of my family, she won't have any cousins her age :(.

I have no experience with this, since I have no children of my own... but I do have an idea. :) Do you know any of the language that the child speaks? If not, try to learn it while you're waiting for them to move here, so you two could communicate directly (at least a little) without needing mom there to translate. I think that would help you two to keep bonding. :)

Hehe - yes, I already have been learning Thai, (focusing on the spoken languge of course), but my misprounounciation has led to a few 'entertaining', (and sometimes embarassing), moments. Thai is not an easy language to speak, but I keep trying anyway!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone brought their fiance's child to the USA?

My fiancee has an 11 year old daughter that will be coming to the United States as well. I'm very proud to say that she's my daughter though not my "biological" daughter. How difficult will it be to adopt her once I marry her mother? I'll be marrying her mother a week after she arrives in the United States. "Our" daughter's biological father had written a statement allowing my fiancee to bring our daughter to the United States so that we can be a family, is there other documentation that we need for him to sign prior to the adoption?

Thanks,
Keith

I have done some checking into that as well. You need to call the Juvenile court center in your area and talk to the adoption unit. Her father would have to be willing to relinquish his parental rights in order for you to adopt. In my case, the father has never provided any support or played any role in the childs life. Also, his whereabouts are unknown. His parental rights will have to be terminated before I can adopt. I am now looking into whether we should wait till she is here to do that, or have it done in Thailand beforehand, and just hope the judge here in the states will accept a ruling by the Thai courts, (certified and translated of course).

Just make sure that on all your docs that you name the child (ie I-129F cover letter) so that USCIS knows you know and are filing for a k-1 & k-2. Our daughter was at the interview (11 at the time) aand they did ask her ??'s, but only because she was there. Good luck.

I'd really like to know how your daughter is adapting. Did she speak much English before she came here? Does she go to public school? Did the school help her with English?

Thanks for for your input :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone brought their fiance's child to the USA?
My fiance has a seven year old daughter that is just learning to speak english, (my fiance has a college degree in English and speaks fluently, as its part of her job also to deal with US customers). Her child has never know the father, or any father for that matter. I have about as good a relationship with this child as I can have, given our circumstances. I see her and wave when I am on webcam, I sent her gifts for birthday and Christmas. When I have visited, I've tried to make a special point to include her in activities and do things she wants to do. She seems to like me and calls me 'Uncle Bill' - and has even given her mother 'permission' to marry me - hehe!

I love children and have 3 of my own, (including an adopted 14 year old daughter), and everyone who knows me says I am a good father, (even my ex-wife).

I had to have reviews as a foster parent and as an adoptive parent and they were always very good and glowing reviews. This is all documented in the adoption file.

One question is in regards to the interview(s). Is there an actual interview with the child? I complete all the same paperwork for the child as I do my fiance. Will the consulate want to see anything that will support that I am a good father? Will they ask my fiance questions about her thoughts of my ability to be a father to her child? I have already sent some of this info to my fiance, who has also become friends with my daughter, (on webcam). Would any of this stuff be helpful to bring to the interview?

Next question is: What can I do to help the childs transition? I would just like to correspond with some other couples who have brought young children here that could not speak English. What kind of problems can I expect? Where I live, the public schools are required to assist children and provide special classes for 'English as a second language'. What are some other peoples experiences with this?

I would love to hear from other couples who have actually done what I am going to be doing. - Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTo All Those Now Filing I-120f's
Due to complicated circumstances, it took me a lot of extra time to get the documents I needed to file my I-129f, that by the time I got it all together, I could not wait to get it in the mail. I sat up all nite completing my forms, making up a cover letter, and then barely made it to the DHL drop box on time the next day.

Big mistake I think. I just know I'm going to wind up getting an RFE because I missed something. After joining this forum, looking at the examples, reading about what other people have done etc, I just 'know' I missed something.

If I had it to do over, I'd make a checklist, check it twice, and would have given my application an extra day or two to double and tripple check everything, and saved myself the delays of RFE's. If you don't even know what an RFE is, then I most certainly suggest you read enough of these pages to find out.

Regarding the email address at USCIS:

I sent an email over an hour ago, and I did not get an 'auto reply' so I do not think the email address has been 'closed' - I think that 'maybe' people are getting canned replys depending upon the context of thier inquiry.

I put only my case number in the subject line, and simply asked if there had been any progress made on my case, (very vague).

My thinking is that if the person getting the emails can from the context, just 'assume' that the email is just a standard 'why is this taking so long' email, they get the canned reply. If the email appears like it could be some sort of reply related to the case, perhaps it gets more attention...

We'll see I guess!

hehe!

Yes, it's creepy that you go back to research my posts from when i began.

I know I received it faster than many of my March friends. I'm lucky.

However, 87 days is still a far cry from your few weeks. And there was no light in this process until last Monday.

Um, again, it was just out of curiosity - all I did was click your member name, and click the profile button, and 'find members posts' - it took me all of 30 seconds to do. Sorry if you feel 'stalked' but I think you're over reacting - just a bit...

Nice to see you stalking me.

If you notice, after 2 weeks did I do anything about contacting USCIS? NO. It was more like 6 & even then it wasn't to USCIS but to find the staus of apps post-IMBRA.

Once again, 2 weeks is nothing.

Um, I 'stalking' might be a little strong of a word. I'm simply researching timelines. I also notice that there are people who submitted thier applications in march '06 still waiting, and you got your NOA2 pretty quickly in comparison! If anything, it adds to my theory that 'maybe the squeeky wheel gets the grease'...

At any rate, I just wanted to show that saying 'just be patient' is easier to say when you start seeig the light at the end of the tunnel.

Honetly, USCIS is up to their eyeballs in old petitions. People email USCIS when thigns are wrong - nothing is wrong with your case. 2 weeks is nothing in the scheme of things.

Good luck & be patient.

Just out of curioisity I went back to see how patient you have been, here your appliation was just sent:

I'm so annoyed, I sent my app on Friday for Saturday delivery, paid extra for that & they left it in Omaha til today. So it's not there at NSC but should be by 10:30AM. I'm so angry! Not about the money, which I will get back, just the timing, because, as we know, it's all about timing here.

One month:

oops, I meant NSC to CSC.

Did anyone get touched after the June 1st mass transfer besides me?

I'm more hopeful things are moving there now...

Less than two months:

No freaking RFE. NO online update. My senator's office called CSC's DIRECTOR on Monday & STILL hasn't heard back.

Feeling very very depressed & pissed off. :ranting:

Yes, I know some are coming but it freaking feels like it all will take much longer, every damn week is more wasted time.

Hi, I notice from reading the posts that some people email USCIS.

I have been checking other applicant signatures on this forum, and I notice that many get 'touches' within a week or two after receiving the NOA1, its been two weeks for me and not even a touch. (I know some people have waited much longer etc).

I also notice that sometimes an email has results.

At any rate, I don't see a link for sending emails on the USCIS website, how do I do it?
