K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen submitting copies of plane/bus tickets
I sent what I thought was alot of evidence, and got an RFE wanting to know EXACTLY how we 'met online' and also for copies of my bank and credit card statements for the time I was in Thailand visiting my fiance. They wanted to see purchases and / or cash withdrawals that I made while visiting.

I hope this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOMG!
CONGRATS~!!!

There is definatley something wrong with the notification system because I never did get notification of my RFE being received, (even though it was), and others lately have gotten their NOA2's in the mail unexpectedly. I expect you'll get your NOA2 in the mail VERY soon if you were approved on the 10th, (did you check your mailbox today? - hehe!)

I'm very happy for you, (and what a cute little one you have too!).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Letter!!
HURRAY! Lots of good news on the board today, let's hope it continues to be a good week! I need my NOA2 so I can keep up with my 'filing buddies - hehe!'

As far as 'getting them home before Christmas' - We've set a tentative date for February 3rd for a cerimony in Bangkok ,Thailand - then on to the USA for the 'legal' wedding so, I figure I got plenty of time, (I HOPE!).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslegally married?

Randy,

--snip for brevity---

See my post earlier in this thread in which I mentioned the experience of a petitioner who had a wedding ceremony in Thailand and included the photos with his I-129f petition for fiancee as evidence of the sincerety of the relationship. He was sent an RFE requesting proof that he was not married. Do you know how many amphurs there are in Thailand from which one would need to obtain a statement that no marriage had been registered in that amphur? (Not as many as there are counties in the 50 states of the USA, fortunately.)

--snip--

If one is going to do this kind of thing, be careful. Be very careful.

Yodrak

This should not have been a difficult problem to overcome, since for a farang (foreigner) to marry a Thai, they must get clearance from their embassy. (as well as confirmed citizenship of that country, legal freedom to marry. Once those foreign affidavits are obtained, they must be translated into Thai and legalized pursuant to Thai law). It should not have been too hard for them to check with the US Embassy and verify that no clearance had been given.

That said, I definatly agree that there are alot of stupid people in the world, and especially at the POE you dont want to create any misunderstandings.

I personally just don't want to 'hide' anything, I am trying to be as completely up front and honest as I can be about this whole process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslegally married?
Granted, this just in from the 'misinformation line' but I called them about my RFE, got transferred to CSC and the person I spoke to said that having a cerimony only in the country of your fiance is very normal. She said she's been there for years and to pay no attention to what people post on message boards regarding this matter. I spelled it out quite clearly in my petition and my RFE that we already had wedding photos made, had a cerimony and even a date tentatively planned, and that I had checked and in Thailand, its quite an ordeal for a Thia to marry a foreigner - I even have to get approval from the US Embassy. She told me not to worry one bit, that wat I was doing was quite normal, and if there are any problems with my petition, it won't have anything to do with our planned ceremony in Thailand or our wedding photos. Again, I think my NOA2 is just around the corner, (hopefully) - and we'll see. I was 'assured' what I am planning to do is normal, it happens all the time, and I should have zero worries about it.

Bill

PS I might add that the RFE I received said nothing about any problem with having a religious ceremony in Thailand. I even marked on my credit card statement the place where I purchased 'wedding photos' and explained in the RFE that this was customary to do before the cerimony in Thailand. I expained it would be a ceremonly ONLY and that the legal marriage was planned for when we got to the USA.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslegally married?
I plan on doing the exact same thing, having a non binding ceremony in Thailand, then doing the legal wedding in the USA. I don't see any problem, and we're advertising - hehe! I even spelled it out quite clearly in my paperwork I have submitted for my I129F that we will have a ceremony ONLY in Bangkok, not a legal marriage, and then have a legal marrage when we come to the USA. I check the laws of Thailand carefully and a religious ceremony is not a legal wedding, so I figure we're fine. On the other hand, I dont have my NOA2 yet, so we'll see. I agree it's wise to be careful, but I have been up front about it, told USCIS our plans, and if they try to deny me, (which I cannot imagine them doing), I'll fight it. We'll see.

You are not the first person this has happened to. I would contact your servicing center and have them send out a dupliate of your NOA2. Sure you didn't overlook it in the mail? The email notification system seems to have gotten quite sporadic lately.

Congrats~!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI WANT THE NVC TO GET OUR PETITION!!
*sigh* - Your post is depressing. Others have claimed that their petitions have shown up at the embassy and just either never received NVC notification or somehow bypassed the NVC. I would check. I don't know how things work in Cuba, but I would check with whereever your case was to go after the NVC and see if it's already there.

In lieu of the fact that I called about my RFE and discovered it had been received, but did not get the notice until days later, I called becuase of the touches I've been getting and discovered I'd been approved!!! The person at USCIS confirmed there was a problem with the notification system, but confrimed that my application was approved and that I should receive my NOA2 soon :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCall USCIS or not?
Considering the notification problems USCIS has been having lately, and the speed at which some of the newer petitions have been approved, I'd call. Furthermore, some people have not gotten their hard copies in the mail even once they were approved! I don't think you'd be the first to suddenly receive an NOA2 without ever having received your NOA1...

I cannot even figure out what it is you are waiting for. I dont see a timeline, but 224 days is too long to wait for anything. I wonder of your petition has expired or something... It sounds to me like your fiance is not doing what he should be...
