Arr 9 am for 9-45 app at oakland park ft lauderdale Was still waiting at 10-30 when MS D HERNANDEZ called my name. everything went very smooth 6 quick answers you guys find the question 435 2 years november reviews the laws john roberts george washington then read and write about the father of our country so just wait for oath letter and maybe get to meet Jayde . thxs for your input everybody involved. I drove the 120 miles at 6 am this morning. My IO was telling me that an earlier interview this morning was a guy also from naples. And that he risked his life by sleeping in his car outside the office after driving over in the night from naples. He was concerned traffic would make him late. Jokingly I asked if he was a "brit" No he is Polish she replied and very foolish Area around oakland park is a high crime area. REalised that when I got a java at BP station and girl serving me was locked in a cage at 9am. I arrived at 10:20am. I used the waiting time to run through the flash cards from the USCIS website once more. My name was called at 10:40am. The interview lasted 20 minutes. I opened my folder on the spare seat next to me to show I could provide whatever the officer needed in terms of originals or extra documents, but she did not ask for anything. After a little chitchat, I was asked to read "Who elects Congress?". I was asked to write "The people elect Congress". Then asked: 1. Who is the Commander in Chief of the military? 2. What are two major political parties in the United States? 3. What is the political party of the President now? 4. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? 5. Name three of the original thirteen states. 6. Name one state that borders Mexico. The officer stopped after 6 questions since I got those right. I'm moving to Colorado in a few days to start a new job and expected my Oath to be delayed by a few months while my file was transferred to a new district office. In fact, the opposite happened. At the end of the interview, the officer said what I expected to hear. That is that my Oath might be delayed by a few months due to my file being transferred to Denver. I said that it was unfortunate that getting a job would be a bad thing in terms of delaying citizenship. She agreed and mentioned that she could schedule the oath to be taken in Tampa on the next available date which is September 21, but I declined, saying I didn't want to take a few days off from a new job and spend a few hundred dollars coming back to Tampa and that I was willing to wait the extra time to take the Oath in Denver if necessary. Then she asked me to wait and left the office. On her return she said that getting a new job should not be a bad thing and asked if I wanted to wait around the USCIS office for a few hours and if so, they might be able to hold an Oath for me only that day. Needless to say, I said that would be fantastic so I waited, not knowing if they could go ahead with the Oath or not as they were not sure themselves, and if so, how long I would be waiting. I took the chance anyway. I was called back into the office only 30 minutes later, did the Oath, turned in my permanent resident card, was given my Naturalization Certificate, as well as a little book called The Citizens Almanac and a little American flag, the Oath administrator shook my hand, congratulated me and that was that. We arrived at 10.30 AM - parked in a garage near the Federal Building ($12/hour). There was quite a long queue through security - showed my appointment letter and ID and went through to a holding area. We were then all ushered upstairs to the ceremony. There was a lot of people - around 200. After being seated, we had to line up, hand in our green cards, collect our little flag and some historical booklets and check the details on the certificate, then go sit down again. We stood up, the national anthem was played and an officer then gave a small speech on what it means to be a US citizen. Then there was a small welcome video from the president, then another officer gave a speech. We then all stood up, raised our right hands and gave the oath of allegiance (we were given a paper with it on to read). Also, everyone in the room had to stand up, and we all said the pledge of allegiance. Four officers then started reading out peoples' names and you had to go up and collect your certificate. There was a small break where you could ask any questions, then we could go. It was a nice event, a bit hectic as there were so many people, but generally well organised. The little booklet they gave us on US history is quite nice! That's it then! Hard to believe it is over really....next stage...passport application and social security update. We have a full day planned tomorrow, with a quick trip home after the ceremony to scan and print copies of the certificate, go to the Social Security office to change my status and then to the courthouse or city hall to put in the passport application. I hate the feeling of being unable to travel again, lol but I will add my details to the passport list on this forum, and keep watching and wishing you luck as you all complete your journeys, too Good luck for tomorrow, Red Diablo,	reddiablo	Not Telling	Canada	2009-09-15 19:46:00

We arrived early due to hubby's speeding (ah these natural born citizens ). Parking is pretty tight, they had an overflow parking lot. My husband has spine issues so he can't walk very far, so we had to use his disabled tag to get a space close to the building. Very unfriendly security guard working the gate. Passed through security to get into the building, no cell phones allowed, metal detector is super sensitive, I was wearing a silver bangle that set it off... Hubby had to remove belt. Once you get inside there's a huge hall of different areas each with their own seating sections, Infopass long line, another for Permanent Residency, another for Deportation and finally right at the end is Naturalization. So I drop the letter in the box and wait. I'm about 40mins early for my appointment. About 10 mins later, a friendly IO comes out, and calls my name. We go off to a cubicle to the side of the seating area to do the Civics/English Test. He makes a few jokes about my surname (I have a 'famous' name). Civics answers: - 6 years - 9 - declared our independence from GB - Speaker of the House - Washington DC - executive branch English reading test was Where is the White House? Writing: The White House is in Washington D.C. IO made a joke that he thought it was funny he had to test people from England's english So passed all that, then back to the waiting area for the interview... freezing cold in there, totally over AC'd. Only about 10 mins wait, and younger IO calls my name and we go back to his office. Introduces himself, tells me to put my stuff down (I have armfuls of files ) and raise my right arm to tell the truth etc. We sit down, I give him my passport, GC and DL and he starts reviewing file, at first he queries the spelling of my last name, he seems a bit confused and he's looking through the namecheck docs (I can read some of it upside down), for one moment I thought there was a problem but he resolved it I guess in his head *phew*. Then moves on to asking me about my husband, his name, where was he born, what does he do? Looks through our app, asks me for original marriage cert, hubby's passport and birth cert. Looks through the app some more, and asks "who put this package together?" And I said I did, and he says "this is really great, it makes my job so much easier" Asks about our home that we purchased at the beginning of the year, and that was great, and I had the feeling everything was going very well... Asks about do we have children (we don't), and I said no, just dogs/cats... Anyway that sent us off into meandering conversation about dogs, and how he wants a dog, and his neighbor has a terrier, and he can't remember what type it is. So he starts Googling in the middle of the interview, and showing me pictures of Irish Terriers. Asked if I had pics of our dogs, and I said no, they are all in my phone, and its in the car because of security so I can't show them to you... Of course, I have EVERY utility bill, major purchase receipts, bank statements, life insurance, house insurance, auto insurance, wills etc for the last 3 years - but no pictures of my dogs We talk about the SPCA, and different kinds of dogs etc etc... Finally we get back on track after about 10-15mins, he looks through the tax transcripts, asks some other minor details, and starts stamping things.... Asks me to sign my pictures with my regular signature, and to put that same sig on the N400 (because I had signed my full first middle last name, not my everyday sig), so did that. Check through what is going to be on my certificate, (wrong country Ukraine is in there, not UK ) and gives the approval letter Says the next Oath is Oct 21 and to wait for the OL outside. I asked him if there's any chance to get in on Wednesday's ceremony but he says no, the cutoff was Friday - oh well... He walks me back out to the door, and I thank him. OL took about 40 mins to get, and the date of the interview is noted as July 14 not September 14, but I guess all that matters is the Oct 21 date... I know we have a big issue here near the glades with burmese pythons. mate of mine is fl wildlife ranger , he saw one 30 ft long just 10 miles east of naples will check the dunny for pythons now . usually its just spiders . got bit bad by fire ants yesterday on tiburon golf course at ritz carlton. was just trying to get good angle for bunker shot.. woke up with about 20 small acne like spots above knee. made a error popping them now I need to find a traetment off to see the phamacist good luck shredding red d I will wear my "bald is beautiful" with Eagle logo shirt with south dakota on it. also carry a suede jacket for ceremony. of course I ave no hair look it bit like gandhi arf but more like Ben Kingsley in "sexy beast" have you seen that movie. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 June 2009	Red Diablo Oath at ft lauderdale sept 16th 10-30 am hey up jayde I will be just leaving house when you sworn in. gotta get a few things of my chest. Why the fook do they tell you one guest then have the balls to type the guest may not be allowed in the room. be kept in waiting area till ceremony is over. bolloxs if I ever read a cop out. Just schedule each ceremony for 50% of room capacity simple yes. my wifes giving up a 12 hour night shift at tallahassee hospital to come to this. She is a very proud american gal from S Dakota how she will be insulted to be told she cannot enter Is this done on a first come basis?? if so do I need tp leave naples at 6 am to get to ft lauderdale for 9am to make sure Julie gets in very bloody frustrating to read that on letter. hey jayde watched wallabies batter springbox in egg ball game this braekfast time on my setanta channel. Its been a great day watching real football from all over the WORLD. its qualifying for World cup in south africa next June/july. I am going for 3 weeks really licking my chops in anticipation\ theres nothing like it the colour passion great teams its the ultimate, living in toronto for 30 years I SAW what football means on a world level. the whole city becomes a mass of football fans flying their countrys flag. war with no blood. We are getting mates together 2 nite to see argentina v brazil from buenos aires at 8-30 est going to brazilain bar in ft myers samba time its a shame that 95 % of citizens here do not get it. I need my wifes BC both our divorce certificates. wedding certificate think thats about it. of course my greencard/ passport I think thats about it for documents. we might be at same oath party. trust the govt to schedule a wednesday in middle of work week and 250 mile round trip. fridays would be great time to relax and enjoy the moment . makes no sense at all to me red d nice one Jayde you are nearly done and you started our june thread too. He got me to sign on a couple of pages, and also on the photos, which he removed from the little baggy that I had placed them in when I sent them. He asked 6 questions from the booklet, like who was the next in line after the President and the VP, I know he asked the other 5 but dont remember exactly which they were, all I know is my memory didnt fail me, as I had feared. He was pleasant and professional, and by then I had got over some of the nerves that I was feeling. He had me read "when is Columbus Day" and write that it is in October. He asked about my children and questioned our current address and the time we had spent outside the USA, he seemed worried when he couldnt find the country code for Australia and discussed the fact that I was already a dual citizen being British born, so I guess my question is answered about when to stand up. He gave me a receipt and we left feeling happy that in the next weeks or months I should receive a letter with an appointment for an Oath Ceremony. These are held at various times of the day on a Wednesday at the Oakland Park Office. Success, my file that was started in 2004 and has all the documents that we have tendered over the last 5 years is stamped approved.	reddiablo	Not Telling	Canada	2009-08-28 16:03:00

To be extremely honest, in my case, I was expecting not to get an interview until the 3 years of eligibility as a PR are completed - it's a eligibility criteria so it seemed to me that I would not get an interview until that date was passed. Hence, when I was replying previously to folks on this list about going to do walk-in FPs, I wasn't sure it would make any difference in my case for example, because the interview date would have to be after my September anniversary date... And frankly that puts Naturalization in a 4 month processing time, and perhaps another month for Oath, but after waiting 10+ months for ROC process to complete, that's still pretty good... Others may have a different take, perhaps its up to the Oath time that the eligibility date is counted, or you might want to post in the main forum about it, to get the guidance of those who understand the CFRs...	reddiablo	Not Telling	Canada	2009-07-15 21:44:00

Been open just 4 weeks , staff were courteous and friendly so unlike that dump at ft lauderdale. Anyhow on comment card they asked me to fill out I marked excellent for all. and added that it would be nice to have a ft myers office for interview /test/oath . I know its a little confusing, but in short to file on marriage basis you HAVE to pass your 3rd anniversary. I have perused all the sites and this does not make sense to me. it is 90 days before the date on your gc . I was married in april 2005 but entered usa aug 2 2006 I have sent n 400 and really do not expect any problems because I sent approx 80 days before my 3rd anniversary of entry.
