OK so I hear once you get married your k1 is expired so how long am I allowed to stay in the country after were married ?
and can i travel outside of the country like for a honeymoon ?
Also what if they deny me permanent residency cause they deny my wife as sponsor even though they approve her for the visa ?

OK guys I just acquired a co-sponsor, she's a friend i went to school with in europe from arizona and i was wondering what I need her to fill out ?
1. Does she need to fill out a I-864 for the evidence of support section of the checklist ? or just show recent tax return and past pay stubs from 3 years ?

2. Also with those past pay stubs are they just the end of the year pay stubs ? that show how much she made that year ? or is it everyone one ?

3. Another question I have is she is already sponsoring her husband ( My best friend) for his green card, they got married in February. She makes $45,000 a year so I believe that's enough for both of us but does this seem suspicious you think ? also does that make me a third person in their household thus raising the amount she needs to sponsor ?

If you guys could help me out on this I'd really appreciate it I have my interview in 2 months!

Medical for IR1 in advance Canada

Your profile says you are pursuing a K3, but with the details you have given it sounds like you are getting a CR1/IR1.
Anyways, either way I would wait a little longer for the medical since Montreal is so behind on interviews right now. The CR1/IR1's are generally scheduled faster than the K3/K1's, so usually once your case is complete it is pretty much safe to go get your medical done then. If you are getting a K3/K1 I would wait until you have packet 3, just to be on the safe side.
Just keep in mind medicals are good for 1 year. The waiting list for MTL right now is approx. 4-6 months.

Hey thanks again...I'm sorry about my profile...I did also apply for K3 but my I130 was approved much faster and and the IR-1 seemed to be the best run for the buck these days especailly with the new fees for AOS.
I think I will get my medical in a few weeks...by then hopefully some more movement will have happened at the NVC.

It is definately weird, we aren't even using income for the I-864 haha. Then again they are very precise, for one field (one of those yes/no questions with an area below for info) I answered 'no' so didn't think I needed to put N/A in the fields below - but that was also one of the things on the checklist to change! Also read in another thread that someone said he was receiving an RFE for not putting N/A in that one field too.

Can't hurt to take the assessment though

just reading all the talk of the day. well...my hubby sent off the stuff today...Canadian Tax stuff (even tough the girl said it wasnt necessary), along with an explaination letter, and proof of current income in the US. i will keep you posted on what the outcome is. my advice is to take it all to your interview...as my friend would say "better to be lookin at it then looking for it!!!!"

RFE I864 Canadian Taxes

So I have sent them the 4 pages of the return, the Schedule 1, a photo copy of my assessment and my T4 and TRSP. Plus the corrected I-864 of course.

I brought this up in another thread and another Canadian confirmed he had to send in his return as well - he said they seemed to know what to do with it. He also said that when his wife got to the interview they shoved all the Canadian return information at her and said we don't want to see any Canadian documents

Thanks for your response...I just spoke to NVC and she said that they are probably looking for a W2 because there was income written in Line 7 which there was not. Anyway, she said that there wasno need to send Canadian stuff but just to send a letter of explaination. Well...we are going to send a letter of explaination along with his Canadian Tax Notice of Assessment and his T4. Hopefully that will suffice. We can keep each other up to date if you like....it is always nice to have someone to share experiences with and it looks like our cases are really going side by side.

RFE I864 Canadian Taxes

Hi all,
My husband is a USC with PR is Canada and we had been living in Canada (like many of you out there) when we started this whole IR1 process. I am of course still in Canada but he is now in Florida. Anyway, here's the question.
We sent out I864 forms and we have a co-sponsor because my husband lived with me in Canada for the last two years so he didnt have any income in the USA. He did however file US taxes and we sent in his 2006 US tax form which basically said that he made money in Canada. Our RFE is stating that they need to see his W2 from 2006. This does not make any sense as a W2 is for US taxes and he was not working in the US which is stated clearly on his taxes and foreign income form.
My question is....do we go ahead and just send in our Canadian T4 and his Canadian tax Notice of Assessment?
If anyone has any advice we would greatly appreciate it.

Canadian Police Report for IR1...HELP!!!!!

Hey All,
Just noticed on the police report instructions that you have to have on from your 'locality' in Canada...does that mean that the police report i recieved from Winnipeg (which is a national report) will not be accepted? I have been in Ontario for a long time but I was visiting my husband in the States when I sent for my police report...currently I'm visiting family in Newfoundland and I sure hope I dont have to FLY TO TORONTO to get a police report....please tell me that the one I have from Winnipeg will work...it has my ontario address on it and everything!!!!
