Im sure they get lots of e-mails every day from people asking to have the soonest possible interview date, because well we are all in the same boat but, maybe I am just miserable because I am like one of 3 I think September VSC fillers who havent had an interview yet, but I am getting off topic... I feel like now I should request an earlier interview date because I dont want to get a later date than everyone else that sent in their p3 after me because those people have asked for the earliest date possible even though we all got the piece of paper in our p3s that estimated 4-6 months for an interview. I wish things worked first come, first serve ><

I think they will schedule all of us very soon. If you haven't received an interview after your packet 3 was logged way back from April 9th, then they are seriously overdue to do a new round of interview dates. Our wedding was planned around an annual music festival of less than 100 people who know and love us and were really excited to see us married. At this point, it's highly unlikely. I suppose now we'll have to have an "off the highway wedding' in a courthouse. We never, ever, though it would drag on like this.

Hi everybody,

Since I am still relatively new here, I just wanted to take a ROLL CALL and see who else has submitted their packet 3 and still waiting for an interview date. Any clues as to when the next round of scheduling is? We called the DOS today and there's still no date. Our packet 3 was received and logged on April 27, 09.

It looks like our wedding plans our ruined at this point - we wanted to get married on the first weekend of June. I even tried e-mailing Montreal to explain this and they replied "you are on a waiting list to be scheduled soonest". Nothing has been updated since. I might go down and visit the love of my life and stay until an interview date is actually set. That way, we can drive up to Canada together, do the interview, pack my things, and move together. Has anyone here done that? At least that would soften the blow from the disapointment of not having any interview in the foreseeable future.

I can't believe it's almost summer and there's still no interview..... we thought we'd be done by now. This is so damn demoralizing.

Still waiting here logged in at Montreal April 28, 2009. No interviews as of yet sad.gif Hopefully we will be notified at the end of this month, if not i am thinking deffinetly the end of June.

Alright, so far we got TORONTO GUY and HAPPYCLOUD logged in and around the same time. Anyone else?

Happycould: I think we will know before May is out for sure. Our actual interviews may not occur until late June or July.

I did my medical today...it went well too. Lot's of waiting time but my daughter kept me entertained. At least that's done!

To answer childress_london's questions, The doc asked questions folling up on the questionnaire. the questionnaire asks about medical history (ie: any heart condition, surgery, STDs, lung problems, mental health problems, prescription meds, etc.). He checked my lungs, abdomen, ears, throat, eyes. The only forms I signed was with the nurse saying that I did the medical exam, and that I'm allowing the clinic to give the results and info to the US consulate. That's it!!! Really nothing to stress about!

Re: Questionnaire

I expected to fill one of these in at Dr. Seidons office too but there was nothing. The doc was asking the questions and ticking off the boxes for me. And like I said, he was ticking off more boxes than there were questions (even though the answers would have been 'no' anyways - maybe he was clairvoyant!)

Wonder why......

MEDICAL COMPLETED TODAY IN TORONTO!!

Uh, wow, that was fast!! 1-2-3 and I was done! What on earth was I so paranoid and worried about!?!?

It was already nice enough that I live within walking distance from Dr. Seidons office. I left at 6:40am and got there before 7am with coffee in hand. Payment was first, x-ray second, exam third, and blood test fouth and last. Badaboom badabing! I was out before 8:30am. Everything went so fast. The office was full of intending visa applicants and immigrants.

The exam went the quickest; the doctor was checking off check marks before even asking the questions! Out of all those questions on his sheet, he asked only 3 or 4 of them. It was toooooo funny. I did have to strip down and wear a gown though - for what though, I'll never know....the doctor only checked my breathing and abdomen. He glanced for .001 seconds at my "manliness" and that was it! :-) He was funny and in a good mood. I suppose I just looked healthy enough for him not to go any further? He asked only a couple questions and then said cheerfully "everything looks great!". The nurse taking the blood test was kind and gentle and asked me where I was moving to. I told her I was moving to the mountains in North Carolina on a K1 visa and she cooed and awed at the thought of young love.... <3 <3 <3 <3

He he he he he he!!! Now.... on to my next obsessive worry....

WHERE IS MY INTERVIEW DATE?!?!?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon Montreal! Put the poutine down and schedule me a date this month! Let's go! I wanna marry that crazy Merkin gal that I love so much! <3 <3 <3

Medical question: HELP!

Hi everyone! The paranoia is mounting again as my Medical appointment is tomorrow morning. Does anyone know if you have to give your OHIP number at Dr. Seidon's office? Does the doctor look into your Ontario Medical records behind your back or does he just look off the sheets you fill in? How much leg work do they do?

No, they didn't ask me for my OHIP card or anything at Dr. Seiden.... They cannot look at your medical records I don't believe, that's all private/confidential... plus it would be waayyy too much work for them to do that! They trust that you are being honest when asked your medical history, what prescription meds you're on, etc.

Jilla, thank you. If I told you, "you made my day", that would be an understatement. I fully plan on telling the truth, just being paranoid..... Thanks!

Hi ruby_Mtl!

I also have my Medical on Tuesday at Dr. Seidons. I looked at your timeline and we seem to share the similar dates. Unfortunately, VJ moderators have never replied to any of our requests to fix our timeline problems - it says we have duplicate lists, yet we have none.

I think I was supposed to be there for 7am. What about you? Maybe we'll all end up in Montreal at the same time too! :-)

How are your nerves waiting for your interview date? I feel so depressed and hopeless at this point. I always feel as though the system was designed to make us fail and give up - quite the opposite of Canadian immigration, eh? I've seen my Fiance for three days in the past 5 months due to money and inability. We thought we'd be together now, well before summer......somehow, I'm still here.

Question about Montreal Visa X-press post envelope:

Does anyone know or has anyone tried using a "Priority Next Day" envelope over an "X-Press Post" envelope? The X-press post can take 2-3 days. Would they care?

Also, does someone have to be home to sign for it? I don't know if this thing requires a signature or not.

HOW CAN I GET AN EARLIER INTERVIEW DATE WITH MONTREAL?

Good morning Canada.

How likely is Montreal to grant an earlier interview date if we were planning on getting married early June? We sent in packet three on Tuesday, April 21, 09. Will they accept this verbal declaration and be nice and grant an earlier interview date or will they demand evidence and/or ignore the request? Has anyone ever tried to request an early interview date? If so, what did you do and did it work?

:-)

Congratulations Poprocks. I wish I were you today but I am truly happy for you. No one can ever understand what we've all gone through on this 'visa journey' unless they've been through it. You must be at your highest point now....wow, wow, and wow.
Toronto GuyMale02009-04-23 07:54:00
Canadaconfused - packet 3 sent but not received?

...you should be able to register DHL now without having or scheduling an interview. If it doesn't let you I assume that there is no harm in waiting until you do have an interview.

Yes, you can select your DHL location before you schedule an interview. Even if you do not select a DHL location, the consulate will remind you to do it after your interview.

Also schedule your interview when you are instructed to do so. And no worries...Your P3 is probably sitting in their mail room, transer. Unfortunately, the Montreal consulate is well known for their delays.

Good luck with your visa journey! :)

Canadaimmunizations
I agree with Inky.
Get your titre test done ahead of time so you can figure what you are missing at your family doctor.

I brought my immunization records (recorded in a booklet since I was born in Montreal) and my titre test (which was performed at my work place since I work in a hospital in Ontario) for my medical. I had a tetanus shot (which was free of charge) before my medical.

CanadaHow big is big?

Yes, I had seen that about musical greeting cards. I immediately checked the cards I had and none of them were musical, just the plain ones.

Thanks!

Awesome! One my cards played the Chicken Dance song and I remember one of the security guards kept opening and closing it, then humming the song. It was kinda nice to see that they have a sense of humor.

Also make sure you don't have any musical greeting cards. I had to surrender mine temporarily when I went through security. I was able to pick them up on my way out. Reusable grocery bags are perfectly fine. Just no backpacks!

Best of luck with your interview!

CanadaMontreal Process Recap

I am ready....probably more than ready. I think I have overkill with the paperwork I am taking but better to have too much than not enough, right? Of course this week I am starting to get that cold/flu that has been going around. Grrrrrr. I have been popping Cold FX since Monday night when I first felt the sore throat coming on. I really don't want to be sick at my interview!!! I know it won't matter but just not pleasant. This time next week my interview will be all over....Or at least I would hope it will be...I plan on being the first person in the line up. I wonder if they got the elevator fixed at the consulate yet? I had everything down pat until I heard that news and how it frigs up the order.....I guess I will find out when I get there.

 Better to have an overkill of paperwork than worry that you might have missed something. I brought way too much for my interview but I felt more secure that I did. Not sure if that made any sense. I hope you feel better for your interview! I'm pretty sure the elevator would be fixed by now. It's been a week. Then again, it's the Montreal Consulate.

Good luck!

CanadaMontreal Process Recap

Yeah go to a clinic. If you do you medical in Toronto they don't actually do any immunizations there.
I needed my MMR again (for a stupid reason) but they couldnt do it there.
I had to go to a walk in clinic and fax the results back to the office.

I remember seeing an "Accepting new patient" sign at Dr. Seiden's office. Medicals for Visa are done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings, but they're are a regular doctor's office afterwards.

It's rare to find a doctor who is accepting new patients in Toronto. Heck I actually work in a hospital and none of the family physicians here are accepting new patients without a referral. I would recommend checking the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario “Doctor Search" and Health Care Connect. Again, a walk-in clinic would work too.

CanadaMontreal Process Recap

Oh nice, that's a really smart way to do that! *adds it to list*

I unfortunately lack a family doctor and have for quite some time (since moving for school) so I've not got my vaccination records and was just going to have to pay to have it done at the medical. But otherwise, I've got everything in order :)

No family doctor? This is a common problem (particularly in Toronto). Have you tried going to a walk-in clinic to get an antibody titre test done? I would highly recommend doing that since it will be extremely costly if you get it done at the medical.

So I had my interview today and the worst part was that the basement elevator wasn't working so wandering through the building toward another elevator, our order was so mixed up couple #2 got #11 by the time we sat down. That was the worst part.

The best part: I was APPROVED! Woohoo! I'll write a review for y'all tomorrow, but it was really quite like all the other reviews (except for the broken elevator). For now, sweet, sweet sleep!

 Well that explains why it took awhile for the guard to move us from the basement to the elevator. He said absolutely nothing about the broken elevator to us. I agree, the waiting was the worst part. I wish I brought a book. But I think I would have been too nervous to read.

Grats on approval! I got approved as well! :D

I just got my first full time job (yes, it's almost 3 years that I've been here, but that's a ###### for another day). This is really good for us, we're moving forward and will be able to get a house, etc.

So my MIL calls me up about the job interview, and I told her I got the job, and told her where it is (2 hours away), and the first thing out of her mouth is "Oh, I'm never going to see him now" (obviously meaning my hubby).

I can't believe her. It's always about her. She should be down on her knees every night thanking God and her lucky stars that I didn't insist that hubby and I live in Canada. (which I regret not doing) ranting33va.gif

The bottleneck seems to be the x-rays. If you can get in on the first group of x-rays it will cut down your waiting time by at least an hour. There is room for about 6 to 9 people in the X-ray holding area.

CanadaMy Medical Experience
In at 7:10 AM.
Out at 10:30 AM.
Be prepared for lots of waiting unless you are super early!

---

Lucky me, I scheduled my medical on what turned out to be the coldest day of the winter so far. It was -20C and I couldn't bear to wait outside for the 7 AM opening... so I timed my arrival to be slightly after 7 AM.

Arrived at 7:10 AM to find the waiting room completely full already. Most were families in groups of 2-4. There were only a few people on their own.

An hour passed by, and I slowly watched everyone 'ahead' of me get called in at steady intervals. It is important to note that while you are in the main waiting room, people get called for different parts of the medical process -- so it is not always in the exact order that you might expect.

8:10 AM: finally got called for registration. The lady asked me for my passport, passport photos, immunization records, and finally the 185 dollars (paid in cash). She asked me to sign a release form to allow my blood to be tested for HIV/Syphilis. She then handed me all of my paperwork and a receipt. This process took about 5 minutes and then I was asked to wait in a hallway, where i saw some of the people who were called ahead of me. As soon as I sat down, another lady asked me to come into the x-ray room and it took another couple of minutes to take it.

I sat in this hallway for another hour. At one point a 3rd lady took my paperwork from me but it wasn't clear what we were all doing in this hallway. My best guess is that we had to wait in the hallway as some sort of radiation cooldown... eventually, the people ahead of me got called back to the waiting room so I figured I would be up next.

9:10 AM: As expected, I was told to return to the main waiting room, where I waited with all the same faces. In total there were maybe a dozen people getting medicals by my count. I watched as the people ahead of me slowly got called in by a lady in a white lab coat. This call was for a blood test and it came pretty quickly after I returned to the main waiting room.

10:00 AM: I was called for the last time to an exam room. This is where an attendant takes your height and weight (you just tell it to them) and nurse takes your pulse and blood pressure. At that point you are told to strip down and put on a gown made of paper. I sat there waiting for the physical exam for another 10-15 minutes. When the doctor came in he reviewed my immunizations (all set), shot through a list of questions regarding my medical history (nothing of note), and then proceeded with a 5 minute physical exam (throat, back, chest, abdomen). By then it was 10:30 and I was told to head to the front desk to hand in a form. I was told to return in 2 days after lunch and before 4pm to retrieve the results.

So the long and the short of it is... if you want to get out quickly try to wait outside before 7am. Otherwise, you are better off coming later and being part of the last group. I was only 10 minutes past the opening time but ended up leaving with the last group of patients (the people behind me came in much later). I'm sure the waiting times vary depending on how many families there are... singles seem to process quicker. Overall, there is a lot of waiting (up to 60 minutes) broken up by 5-10 minute intervals of activity (registration, x-ray, blood test, exam).

It only cost $144.90 to book a return trip from Toronto Union Station to Montreal Central Station. It's a reasonable amount and the express train is roughly the same speed as driving (and you just sit back and relax).

I also booked a hotel that is on the same block as the consulate -- Le Square Phillips. http://www.squarephi.../montreal-hotel

I've stayed there before and it is really nice. It is a bit pricey at $145 a night but you can walk to the consulate in a minute.
