CanadaImmunization records question
I just got my immunization records and it says that I had shots for dipheria, pertussis and tetanus in 2003
I also had shots for MMR in 1989 ( I was born in 1987) do any of these need to be updated ?
I don't believe I need a shot for Meningococcal (Menjugate) because I am 23.

Do i need repeat shots for any of those or what ? Like I know tetanus is every 10 years. what about MMR ?

CanadaMy Montreal Interview experience...
Well My interview was this past Tuesday (August 2nd 2011)and it was not what I expected at all.
So I walk from my hostel in Montreal to the U.S. Consulate let me tell you You guys should look into staying at HI-Montreal ( Hostel International Montreal)I got a shared 4 bed room for $35 a night and it was 10-15 minute walk to the consulate. So my interview is at 8:30am which i found out apparently doesn't mean anything. As soon as you get there your waiting in a lineup outside, I mean get there as early as possible to beat the rush. So you got through what is like an airport security line then I go down some stairs to take an elevator to the 19th floor. You pass a photo booth that print American sized passport photos so in case you forget your you can get them done right there :) Ok So I go to the 19th floor and am greeted by a lady who doesn't enjoy her job at all hahaha and she tells you to go to window 14A which is around the corner and then you show the lady behind the window your appointment letter and she gives you a number... I thought I was going to be in some room with some US Consulate person going through my paperwork at 8:30 in the morning but that was not the case, your literally in a massive waiting room waiting for your number to be called haha. So there is not much to do in this waiting room, there are a few vending machines limited selection and 2 t.v's. One t.v is for the kids and the other t.v is to show you how great America is haha. You get to watch a bear kill a baby moose and wolves kill the babies parents, even the bald eagle gets in on the act, no joke. If your lucky they will show the biography of Barak Obama, but you won't know whats going on because the sound is turned off. Anyways, so I'm sitting there for about an hour waiting for my number (C14) to show up on the board finally it does so i grab all my paperwork and x-ray and walk to what i think is going to be a room, but there's no room its just a window, like the kind you would order a train ticket from ! haha I thought I would be in some room, anyways so the guys takes my medical sealed envelope and doesn't bother with the x-ray, I later find out you don't even need to bring it they just told me to bring it to the USA as a record of my latest x-ray... so he takes my finger prints and then tells me to sit down. So I'm about my third dead Elk into the movie when my number come sup again ( about an hour) and I bring my paperwork up and she asks for basically everything on the checklist. let me just stop there I was so nervous about this because everyone on this forum told me I need a" Long Form Birth certificate" I didn't have one and the lady didn't even ask about it, so I guess Short form ( Wallet size) is fine. I also did not have the original birth certificate of my petitioner just a copy and that didn't matter either. I was worrying for nothing. so she takes my affidavit and makes me sign a form that says "If your 18-26 years old ( 23) and America every has conscription ( mandatory military service) I am required to join the army"so i sign the damn thing she is about to send me away when I say " I have a Co-Sponsor, do you want that paperwork ?" and she just says " No", Ok.... So I sit down try and make out the Presidents life story learn about how moose are killed ( 2 hours go by) and I'm called again now this is the part where they tell me if i got my visa or not, I'm told to go to "room" 8 which is just another train ticket window with 2 walls beside it haha, I'm asked to raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth. She hands me back my passport and just starts asking me casual questions (as she's filling out paperwork) about how I met my fiancee and where we met, what her job is blah blah blah, then before I know she hands me a form and says "Congratulations you've been approved" I was in shock, I asked her to repeat it. I honestly didn't think I would get it but i did :) So i celebrate by myself because I thought my fiancee wasn't allowed to come to the interview but EVERYONE had theirs with them ! I was honestly the only person without their significant other. So 5 hours later I walk out of the consulate and the suns shinning and I walk back to the hostel and call everyone about the good news. The one thing I'm confused about is they didn't take my 2 colored passport photo's that were on that checklist... they never asked about them. Anyways if anyone read this novel I just wrote that's how it went ! So for those wondering exactly how things go, there it is. enjoy your movies, your going to learn so much about American wildlife.

So in the interview letter, they did not specify what to bring at the interview except for pictures, visa, express post envelope, DS-156, DS-160, 131$ US in cash and such. So my question is ... What documents do I need to bring at the interview and which ones need to be notarized ????

Nothing needs to be notarized per se. If you use the new I-134 form from the USCIS website, it does not require notarization. The long-form birth certificate needs to be a certified copy with photocopy duplicates... but they give that back to you anyway and you automatically get a certified copy from the province if you order one (costs about $40). Honestly I don't know why people go to such great troubles to get things notarized (must be due to the rigorous VJ instructions). I didn't have a single thing notarized when I went to the interview.

To figure out what you need to bring, read over the packet 3 checklist and the interview appointment letter. The checklist pretty much covers 90% of the stuff. Just make sure everything listed in the checklist is photocopied twice.

The appointment letter mentions the DS-160 and the DS-156. Both need to be completed (though the DS-160 should have been done at the time you sent back packet 3). FYI they took one copy of my DS-160 (confirmation page and answers), and 2 copies of my DS-156. The appointment letter also says to bring the $131 USD cash or Canadian equivalent (you can pay in Canadian at the cashier if you have enough money... they do an daily exchange rate). Simpler to get the US money in my opinion. Oh, and the updated Fiance(e) letter of intent.

The only other thing that isn't really noted -- make sure you bring the DS-156k that came in your packet 3 because it's signed in front of the interviewing officer, and make a photocopy of your biographic page of the passport because they'll ask you for it.

ps-it helps to read consulate reviews within this thread to get an idea of what to bring.

I agree, We're almost scared to actually sit down and figure out how much this whole process has cost so far with the running around to get things, the costs and fees for everything. Today I called about my emission standards letter to bring my car across the border and that's going to cost me $85 dollars. When will it end! No wonder there are so many illegals living in the US.

Yea I'm just starting to accept the costs myself. From I-129F to the interview I've easily spent over $1000 CDN--and that was before Dr. Seiden raised the medical price. I just found out a few weeks ago that AOS costs $1010 USD.

So I paid around 1k for the right to enter the states for marriage without getting turned back... and another 1k to stay, live, and work.

Does the I-134 have to be notarized???

If you use the new October 2008 edition from the USCIS website, it does not require notarization.

I confirmed this with Montreal before my interview and used them at the interview without a problem.

Try to look on the bright side -- this is the last step of the visa process and there is more waiting behind you than ahead of you.

Also, by the time you go to Montreal it will be warm again so the wait outside will be a lot nicer.

Just FYI: The average time between sending back Packet 3 and receiving an interview date with the last batch of interviewees was ~2.5 months.

CanadaK-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal
Well that was easy! All the reviews and experiences contained in this thread match my own, so I'll just provide some abbreviated notes:

-Arrived outside by 6:55 and was 3rd in line. All applicants were processed by 9:15 or so. Interviews began at 9:25 and lasted about 5-10 minutes each, with a break of 5 minutes between each interview. I was called at 9:50 and was out by 9:55.

-The guard asked us to line up to the LEFT of the doors, so if you are first go to the left side under the camera.

-While you are waiting for the elevator (past security) take the time to assemble the paperwork as indicated on the provided handout (passport, photos, police clearance, medical results, affidavit of support). Clip it together with the letter-card (e.g., A, B, C...) that they give you. If you do this now, you won't be asked for the paperwork in the clip later.

-Your letter on the letter-card indicates the order that you'll be called for interviews. However, it does not indicate what order you'll be called for paperwork and fingerprints. Everyone gets processed (paperwork + payment) before the interviews start so don't worry about getting called out of order for the first phase.

-Remember to photocopy the inside (picture page) of your passport because they ask for it.

-You get back your original Birth Certificate and they keep a copy... but they keep the original Police Certificate.

-You don't need to bring your chest x-ray unless the doctor discussed TB with you.

-I was asked an abbreviated set of questions: how did we meet, when did we meet, where we plan to stay, what my job is, what her job is... and i'm pretty sure that's it. We talked about health insurance and how I would no longer have any once i move there. She did not ask me about the proposal, though she did note that my fiancee and i had known each other since 2002 and lived together for 2 years so maybe that's why it was not important in the interview (she said we had plenty of time to think it over).

-The new un-notarized versions of the I-134 are accepted.

-There's really no reason to get nervous or anxious in the waiting room. The interview itself takes only a fraction of the time that you'll be there. just be prepared for a lot of waiting.

Sorry for the double post. I had Chris email the consulate and he just informed me that they will accept the new I-134 in our case! Thank goodness. So I have another question too. I keep seeing people post about tax transcripts. I didn't notice anything in the I-134 instructions that said I needed these. I just mailed a copy of my last income tax return (even though the instructions only said to do so if you're self employed). Our co-sponsor is retired so I sent copies of his last three income tax returns. Will this be alright or do they require tax transcripts?

The train ride from Toronto to Montreal was flawless... even arrived 15 minutes early.

This hotel is swank too. It is bigger than any apartment I've ever had in Toronto. Free high-speed internet, kitchenette, living room, 2 HDTVs, and a king size bed. If anyone is just staying for one night like me, you can't really go wrong with Le Square Phillips. Complimentary breakfast at 630am and then walk over to the consulate (which is around the corner). Oh, and the hotel is only a 5 min walk from the train station. Everything is going swell so far! Tomorrow... interview and then smoked meat sammiches.

You can use the new I-134 that does not require notarization. I've confirmed this with Montreal.

I am going to use the expired DS-156K. Bear in mind that this particular form must be signed in front of someone at the time of your interview.

In retrospect I should have bought the XpressPost envelope when I got there too... the envelope is just so huge, flimsy, and rather ungainly. Unfortunately my train arrives at 9:45pm this Wednesday and my interview is the next day, so there would probably be no way to get one in time.
