Just checking back in here with some more info: NVC received my file from VSC on 26-nov-2008. I just got the packet 3 from the Montreal Embassy this morning (8-dec-2008). From here on in I will probably be posting in the Canada-specific forum. Good luck on the next phase, everyone!

Judging by a search of similar timelines, there are 4 NOA2s in the group--averaging 126 days between NOA1 and NOA2.

So... if you submitted in mid-July and got an NOA1 in early August (like me), it appears that NOA2s will be coming in late November or early December.

If the trend holds up, we'll start hearing from early July filers by mid-November. Stay frosty!

We got our K-1 NOA1 after ~13 business days in the VSC's hands.

The package arrived at VSC on July 17th, 2008. The check was debited from my fiancee's account on Aug 5 (we were able to see the case number clearly on the back of the check--you can only do this online with web banking). She received a letter the next day in the mail (Aug 6). The official date on the NOA1 form was Aug 4.

Just out of coincidence I was visiting her at the time so it was an added bonus to the trip!

Police Clearence Certificate

Hi Folks

I have a question regarding filling the DS230 Form , in that it states that you need to get a police clearence certificate from all the countries u lived after the age of 16?

I am a canadian citizen, lived in Canada for the last 12 years, before that I lived in India ..

Do I need to get the police clearance from both Canada and India ?

Please do reply ..If police clearence is needed from India ,does anyone have any idea how to go about doing it in Canada?

Thats the NVC website for online payment....However for that you need to get your Invoice Identification Number to use it ..You can get that by calling NVC in the night , right before they close

Yes the lawyer can be the agent of choice, but if you are in the US , then it is easier if she nominates you as it takes quite some time to get the mail if it is outside US

Hi Folks

Does anyone know what happens if an interview date is issued and you are out of the country on vacation or projects?

Can you reschedule the interview ...

I read somewhere there has to be a very good reason to reschedule interviews, will this be a good one?

Just wondering as I am still in the process of collecting docs .. and think my interview as per all posted timelines might clash with an offshore project and vacation

It is very common with all the unpredictablity around , to not see folks for a year or more ...I am sure they understand that ...Just tell them the truth ...

Can some one applying for CR1 from Australia help me with this question?

There are two type of Police Clearance from the Australian Federal Police

$32.73 for each National Police Check application.
$93.64 for a fingerprint and National Police Check application where fingerprints are supplied to the AFP upon application.

Do you know which one is to be taken? Do I have to send in fingerprints for the check ...

I was in Australia for two periods (both less than one year) however both of them totally to one year

Any help is appreciated

DS-230 form

Hi

First pay the fee bill ( either by post or online) I did it online, However I have heard from some folks that this is not an option now ..

Once you pay that fee, you will get a cover page ( fee receipt) , This has to be included in the DS 230 Application

Also DS-230 needs a lot more documents to be send with it , mainly date of birth, police clearence certificates, marriage certificate copy, etc etc ...

You can change your address anytime , just update the NVC regarding it and call and make sure they have made the change!

That was the most stressful chaos I've ever dealt with. What is wrong with Montreal?!? Even their phone line says "due to staff shortages, we can no longer answer phone inquires"....or something like that...

Basically, if something $%^$s up along the way - good $%#@ luck to you. You're on your own.

Thankfully, an Angel here on VJ sent me 10 scanned pages of packet 3 for Montreal which I used to compile my info.... god bless her

Be gratefull you didn't AOS from visitor status. Even if there was a 1% chance of getting caught, you'd be barred for 10 years (if not life) for committing fraud. This is an unfair policy, I know. At least in Canada, your Fiance can stay with you as long as they like while their Fiance visa is processed. They just can't work here. I hope Obama changes these archaic rules...

LOL A deadline to reach 85? It sounds more like work than a game. My fiancee and I (mostly me really) currently run a casual raiding guild and I don't plan to implement a deadline. What's the point? You reach 85, raid, get bored and wait until the next expansion/raid? There's no fun in that.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not that too excited with Cata. However, I'm hoping it will bring back some people back to the game. One thing is for sure. The earthquake is less annoying than the zombie/plague effect that Blizzard introduced before WOLK was launched.

So after waiting for the game to work all day, I came to realize that my password had been changed (without notifying me by email, mind you), and my main's bank/gold had been wiped out.

Thankfully, it doesn't appear as if it was done by a spammer, as the account is still open, was just a matter of getting a new password (on hubby's computer) and now attempting to figure out where/why/how. Yay.

Here's to hoping they'll restore my #######, heh.

I'm excited about the xpac... for no other reason than the fact that I love new things in the game that aren't simply end-game content. A new raid is great and all - for those who are raiding heavily - but for the rest of us, it's something we probably won't see for some time. So other in-game changes are good in my book.

Ugh...That doesn't too good. Blizzard will eventually restore it. It's just a matter of time. I'm not really sure what they are thinking. Making us register with Battle.net and then this new "real ID" ####### makes the lives of hackers easier. I think there's at least one person in my guild that has been hacked once every week. I purchased an authenticator earlier this year and guess what! Since we live in Canada, we have to pay about $20.00 for it. Even with authenticators there's no guarantee that your account is %100 secure.

Ooh...And for those who PUG everyday, you'll enjoy this.

I just discovered this long thread. It's nice to see some WoW players on this forum. My fiancee and I didn't meet on Wow, but the game will probably keep us sane during our K-1 Visa process. We play alliance side on Shadow Council (and ofcourse horde side always has WG since faction change was introduced). Our guild primarily run ICC-10 and we're currently working on Sindragosa (aka the angry female dragon). The last phase is a pain.

I think I'm one of the few people who isn't that excited with the release of Cata. This video pretty much sums up what I think of it:

SAVE MONEY!!! ;)

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on how to save money on all the passport photos that are required throughout the journey...

First: I found the cheapest place to get 2 (they wouldn't allow me to just buy one, which I found unreasonable but I got over it, lol) professionally taken passport photos (although you could totally do this yourself, I was just lazy and felt better about having someone else do it).

Second: I taped both photos on top of large coloured sticky notes and then taped that to white paper.

Third: Went to Staples to have them colour copy it on "80LB Cover Gloss Letter" paper.

Fourth: Took my time to precisely cut around it (the coloured sticky notes makes this easy for you to see the edges *wink*).

And what was the total of 10 pictures, which includes the 2 originals???

$13.50 (including tax, y'all!)!!!
