K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI can finally say the words-"I'VE BEEN TOUCHED!!"
What a great Mother's day gift! Our file has finally been touched! Our petition was received Feb 21 2007 and this is the first TOUCH we've received! I know! I know! Doesn't mean much but at least our file is out of a dank box on the back shelf! Our daughter's first birthday is May 25th! What a great b-day an NOA2 would be!!

Haven't been on visa journey in a while! Off maternity leave and back at work! I try hard not to obsess too much so I stay off of here! I was getting out of control and stressing too much!

Just doing one day at a time and my American is coming to Toronto for a month to celebrate our daughter's first b-day and my son's grade 8 graduation! Life goes on until it really begins!

Good luck to everyone still waiting for NOA1's 2's and visas!!

Yeah Yippee Hooray!

(gotta find hope in the little things!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 Finally! YEAY!
Hey Everyone!

Scott and I got our NOA2 and the letter/packet 3 in the mail dated JUNE 1! Finally. But we both know it's not all smooth sailing from here on it either!

Got some questions about package 3--we are dealing with Montreal

Do we wait till we actually have the documents in hand before signing the checklist and sending it? Or did anyone else just check it and then start grabbing the things--birth certificates-I had the kids long forms somewhere but can't find them so I am going to send away for them again as I need to for mine.

Was going to go get police check a number of times but life has been so busy that I wasn't stressed about it--now that we have package 3--I'm a bit more stressed!

I am assuming that they schedule the interview once this checklist is in and I don't think things will take that long to get. We would just like to have the interview for the beginning of August.

so my question is---sign and send checklist and hope we get everything in time or wait till I have everything in hand--thoughts??

thanks again for everyone's advice, help, suggestions etc

best of luck on your journeys!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary Filers!

i'm so disappointed right now... i've been waiting, and waiting for my renewed passport to arrive so i can send in the i-129f. i even paid for it to be expedited (which was supposed to be within two weeks!!)
so i called the passport office today to check on the status. its not even registered in their computer yet, which means it hasn't even been looked at and could take two MORE weeks! :diablo:

it looks like now i'm not going to make the 18th deadline for the old forms. dammit. time to find someone to write my fiance's address in arabic on the new form. thats the least of my worries though... i just wanted to get my application out already!!!!!! wahhhhhhhh :9

I am sure I am the only idgit that downloaded the files and took months to get everything done--I redid my I-129f form today as the other one was outdated--and upon further looking--so was the G325A! I am sure it wasn't that long ago that I downloaded them and I have seen that others have said previous editions were acceptable (for G325a that is). But I redid that one too! Not sure if it is something to look at for the rest of the Feb-Filers but ...maybe.

OH YEAH! I almost forgot

Yeay Feb-Filers!!!!! :jest:

Middle East and North AfricaYou know you are an Arab....

You know you're an Arab when…
- You arrive one or two hours late to a party and think it's normal.
- You are standing next to the largest suitcases at the Airport.
- You talk for an hour at the front door when leaving someone's house.
- You say bye 17 times on the phone.
- Your parents don’t realize that phone connection to foreign countries have improved in the last two decades and still scream at the top of their lungs when making long distance calls.
- Your relatives alone could populate a small city.
- You always say "open the light" instead of "turn the light on".
- You've had a shoe thrown at you by your mother.
- When your parents meet strangers and talk for a few minutes, you discover they know one of your uncles back home.
- You do all the housework and cooking if you are female
- You refer to your dad's friends as 3amo.
- You still came back home to live with your parents after you graduate.
- You have an endless supply of pistachios, dates, and pumpkin seeds. . .
- Your parents say you're becoming Americanized anytime you get into trouble.
- You curse at your teachers or strangers in Arabic.
- You have at least thirty cousins.
- You teach Westerners swearwords in your Arabic.
- Your parents want you to become a doctor or engineer.
- You use your forehead and eyebrows to point something out. . .
- Your parents drink 6 cups of tea a day.
- You can spot an Arab a mile away and they have spotted you because they keep staring.
- You are proud to be an Arab.
- A visa is not a credit card.
- You flip out any time someone mistakes you for Mexican or Indian.
- Your hide everything from your parents.
- You go back to your parents’ country and people treat you like a member of the royal family.
- You went to a university as far away from home as possible.
- You have been told to not walk barefoot on the floor in order to avoid a cold.
- When you FLY BACK home you find 20 people waiting for you at the airport.
- You fight over who pays the dinner bill.
- You pronounce your p’s like b’s (bolice and bebsi)
- You ask your dad a simple question and he tells you a story of how he had to walk miles just to get to school.
- Your dad swears at you with words that affect himself.
- You only walk on the streets in groups of seven or more people and talk really really loud in Arabic together.
- If you are an Arab girl, you give the look of death to another Arab girl who looks better than you.

Except for the Arabic--it sounds like my British Grandparents! Way too funny! The tea! Geez they drank at least 10 cups and I hate to admit it-but I am the one who has the hard time saying goodbye on the phone (okay-maybe not THAT bad-but pretty bad!)

Middle East and North AfricaYou know you are an Arab....

You know you are an Arab....

1) You strap on an explosive belt, packed with nails and look for some civilians to blow up.

2) You refuse to speak out against the horror your brothers and sisters are committing around the world because secretly you approve, and your silence is dripping in blood.

Yes, I am prepared for the attacks that will come because of this post but it is time to end this nonsense. If the terrorists are such a small part of the Arab population and don't have the support of the mainstream, then please tells us why they are so successful and there are no protests against the radicals like when some newspaper draws a cartoon.

It's sad that you took a really great internal reflection that was really quite funny and had to turn it into some scummy way for you too prove your ignorance! Seems to me, it's people like you that are the real terrorists!! Get a life!!

Hello Everyone,

I just go my I-130 and I-129F approved.

Do I have to wait for the NVC to tell me to go and get a medical? Or can I just book one and get it over with?

Thanks in advance!

Good luck MsZ and FrazellThomas on your interviews this week. Safe travels to Montreal.

Kerri - any news on the medical yet? Good luck.

Thanks much. My husband is going tomorrow night for a bright and early start. We're both hoping he doesn't have to return in the afternoon to p/u his visa since he's planning on coming down to NY right after.

Part of this is almost unbelievable. Can the interview really be Thursday??!!! Wow!

Good luck, Kerri! You and my husband will be there about the same time.

I have noticed some filers report picking up their visa later the same day and others having it sent through Canada Post (expresspost). Anyone know what determines which way they do it?

Not at Montreal really. I haven't heard of one person in recent history where they have offered to let the person pick the visa up on the same day. Maybe you saw this in relation to Vancouver interviews?

What determines whether you can pick it up or not - well that is completely up to the CO doing the interview. When my Husband had his interview, the CO said that if he was still going to be in Montreal the next day, he could come by and pick it up (he wasn't going to be).

So, no way to tell - if you would like to pick it up it doesn't hurt to ask the CO at the interview.

Oops, I looked back and I was thinking of adibiase - they picked up the following day. By the time I get to Montreal I will be more than happy to wait for my Expresspost delivery!! Fingers crossed that I can get posted on your timeline by March. Thanks for all the work you do to keep us all updated rose.gif

I requested to pick it up on Friday, as I wanted to drive back to Michigan with my wife on Sunday. I did not want her to take Monday off just to wait for the VISA in the mail.

The interviewer was a very nice man, and had no issue with that. I think if you ask to pick it up the following day, you really should not have an issue.

Hope this helps!

Anthony

Quick question for all...(I have not found this question anywhere...or just missed it.)

After you receive your CR-1 in your passport, and cross the US border. Do you have to wait for your Green Card to leave the country? Or can you re-enter on your CR-1 visa in your passport?

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Yes, you can use the visa in your passport until your Permanent resident card arrives. I crossed into Canada every day using it until my card came and had no problem.

Perfect. That's what I thought my answer was going to be.

I did notice that on my DS-230 I had one additional adress on it, that I missed on my Criminal Check that I submitted to NVC. I guess NVC either missed it or does not care about it.

I'm going to get an updated one to be safe....what's another $50 bucks at this point?

Thanks Trailmix!

True!

Have you lived outside of Canada? Not sure if you know that you only need 1 criminal check for all of Canada, not for every place you have lived in Canada?

I have lived in Toronto and in Thunder Bay for School.

On my search, I only put my two Toronto address' and forgot my Thunder Bay address. On my DS-230 I have Toronto-Thunder Bay-Toronto...

I just don't what that to be the only hick-up in the interview...

Hi SapphireDreams,

I went to:

22 Division
7750 Hurontario Street,
Brampton ON, L6V 3W6
(905) 453-3311

I was told that they are the only ones in the area who are capable of doing the National search.

I am in Caledon, and spoke to my local police department. They are the ones who directed me to 22 Division.

I just noticed that I bought the wrong size Xpresspost envelope...318mm X 241mm...

I am supposed to have 314mm x 394mm....

(Trailmix) Do you think this will be an issue? Or should I get the next size up...

Anthony

Yes, it must be the size stated in the instructions (314x394). Otherwise at the consulate they make you leave and buy the correct size (no kidding).

Thanks MrsCat! I'll go get the correct one!

Shiri,

I'm from the Toronto area. I had a "Criminal Records Search" done at my local police department "Peel Regional Police".

On the form it indicates the following:

"This is to certify that no notable criminal records were found in the National Repository for criminal records in Canada"

This made it by the NVC, as it was a National record search. I would say that if you have some sort of document with the above on it that you would be fine.

I am going to go get an updated one prior to my interview date, as the "Criminal Records Search" do not have a "valid to" date on them.

Anthony

Just so you know Anthony, the letter/certificate is good for 1 year, so if you haven't had it a year by the time you get to the interview - you don't need a new one.

Just found the actual info for the PCC:

Police Records
Inside Canada: Applicants who are physically present in Canada should contact their local police service or Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) office regarding criminal record check procedures. Applicants may obtain a certificate of no conviction issued by any Canadian police service so long as it notes that Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or the national criminal records repository was searched using the applicant’s name and date of birth. Applicants should ensure that the search includes all names that they have previously used, including maiden names, prior married names, or names used before Canadian naturalization. (Note: Because records checks based on name and date of birth only are sometimes less thorough than those based on fingerprints, U.S. diplomatic offices reserve the right to request that certain applicants obtain fingerprint-based searches from the RCMP.)

Applicants who have been convicted of a crime in Canada must contact their local RCMP office to obtain a “Certified Criminal Record Check,” which lists an applicant’s criminal history, indicating the section of the Canadian Criminal Code under which the applicant was charged, the disposition of the case, and the penalty imposed, if any. Obtaining a Certified Criminal Records Check requires submission of a fingerprint chart; the RCMP could take between two and twelve months to process a request for a Certified Criminal Record Check. (Note: If a namecheck by a police agency reveals a conviction record, that agency may be unwilling to issue a certificate and may refer the applicant to the RCMP for a Certified Criminal Record Check.)

Canadian pardons have no effect under U.S. law. Applicants who have been convicted of a crime in Canada that was subsequently pardoned must contact an RCMP office to obtain both a Certified Criminal Record Check and copies of their pardoned criminal record. Additional information is available online.
