K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 08 Filers through CA Service Ctr
it's true that all we can do is be patient. so far only 3 of 58 VJ couples who filed in march through CSC have been approved (i've been posting a list sporadically on the 'filing in march' thread). there have been lots of NOA2s for january filers at CSC this month (they're past 50% now), so i would expect that we'll start seeing NOA2s for march VJ CSC filers within the next 2 months.

our time will come! star_smile.gif

rofl.gif Levi and I always have "discussions" about the proper word to use and how they should be spelled and he's just from Canada!! They put U's in things that shouln't have U's and he borrowed his friend some money instead of loaned him some money and its an expirey instead of expiration date. A winter hat is NOT a hat its a toque..... On and on.. Its funny

my future step-son thinks that "toque" is the funniest word on the planet. i'm glad that it doesn't take much to keep an 8 year-old entertained laughing.gif

I agree about the missing each other more part and when we are both busy and don't text it does seem to make time go faster instead of sitting there feeling sorry for ourselves LOL

laughing.gif

i have to admit, i was getting quite silly with the phone calls and text messages. i was even waking up in the middle of the night thinking that my phone was ringing! i guess i'm just not that used to constant communication from... well, anyone! not even my own brain keeps itself as occupied and david and i were keeping each other on the phone and through email for a while.

busy is good! biggrin.gif

re: pics - we sent 4 with our application and i believe i have 2 more so far. he really doesn't like having his photo taken so it's always a struggle. he jokes that i have to ask for 'clearance from his management' first. he is such a character laughing.gif

re: communication and ongoing relationship - david and i don't talk every night like we used to and the texting is at a minimum. we're both far too busy and we found that the constant communication was... well, it was unrealistic and not what we'd be doing when we're finally together. plus it made us miss each other even more. i have to say, i SEVERELY disliked the cutback in communication at first but now i'm finding that it's actually easier to get through the days and weeks... and hopefully months... i'm not there yet smile.gif i do hope we're not shooting ourselves in the feet though. we hardly have any emails either. hmmm... hopefully they see us and realize it's quality and not quantity! good.gif

can i move in with aunt mimi for the summer, too? biggrin.gif (obviously kidding... but heck, it sounds like a nice change of pace!)

AH! I am so scared of being left behind, too...I just got more scared about it reading estadia's post. She said CSC was concerned about their age difference...there are 10 years between Dennis and me, I'm 27 and he's 37. I hope that doesn't cause problems. I think I'm just having a panicky, extra-stressed day today.

me, too! and i didn't realize that the age difference was a problem in estadia's case. (i pray she and all those waiting an extra long time get their approval soon!!!)

for what it's worth there are 12 years between david and me but we have never, ever had any issues happen as a result of the difference. i don't think it matters as long as two people are happy together.

ANYWAY, i hope your day calms down and the panic and stress fades away. smile.gif

aravis - I most definitely agree with you; I think all of our relationships are stronger for this process. While I was fixing a snack upstairs I actually thought about how much this visa process is forcing me to do. I've never been great at arranging things (I hate having to use the phone, and I'm terrified of being a nuisance) and I've always left everything up to other people. Since I've been in a long-distance relationship I've had to learn how to book a flight, fly on my own, become very familiar with the postal system (don't ask me why anyone should be nervous about having to send a package abroad, but I was), book driving lessons and soon I'll have to organise moving my belongings whether I like it or not!

i agree with you rachel and aravis. this process forces us to really focus on our relationships and ourselves and strengthen any potential weak spots. i am glad i am not alone in this work smile.gif it sounds like we're all moving things along nicely. rose.gif

I just soooo want the end in site.....nothing to do but wait and wait though at this point....get so sick of people asking "so have ya heard anything?" umm NO do you not think I would be shouting from the rooftops if we had?! OY VEY!

I get so sick of that question, too! Really...when it comes through, EVERYONE will know. I'll write "NOA2" across my forehead in purple sharpie!

no kidding! i've had people asking over and over since january (when we were getting our paperwork in order). some days i like talking about it but other days... wacko.gif

sunnybear - a year apart? that IS too damn long for no physical contact. i hope you get your approval soon and that the process speeds along for you. DAMN CSC!

i can't imagine being apart from david for a year. heck - we've only hit the 5 week mark and i'm already going out of my mind from no physical contact. even a teeny tiny little hug would be nice. 4 more sleeps for us. we're very lucky. star_smile.gif

I don't check the USCIS site for two very simple reasons - first of all, they'll let me know when its approved, and second, and perhaps more importantly, I've forgotten my password laughing.gif God has resolved my obsessive behavior by creating a little temporary amnesia on my part. He's also resolved my obsessions with Igor's list by making me incredibly busy at work - I've got a entire company move and a system conversion to pull off this weekend. I miss chatting with you folks on a more regular basis, but when there's work to do........

Anyway, I agree there will be a tremendous amount of picture sharing as the days arrive - and a few cocktails to boot! And now it's time to find Igor's list and see what happened today ohmy.gif

you are a riot! oh my goodness. laughing.gif

david doesn't check uscis and wouldn't know what igor's list was if it hit him in the face. i like that he's just waiting to see our NOA2 in the mail and isn't stressing at all. it helps keep me calm about the process, too. well, some days. biggrin.gif

i hope the january CSC filers start seeing approvals very soon. star_smile.gif

Please, any help?

yes, the fee is $455.

I have my interview on Thursday afternoon in the US Embassy Dublin and I'm very nervous. Can anyone tell me what I can expect to happen during the interview and/or if anyone has experience of the Dublin embassy.

...

Also, what sort of questions can we expect to have?

Thanks in advance!

i'm not sure about questions that might be specific to your embassy, however there is a great list of questions here and another shorter list here.

QUOTE (raymaga @ Apr 29 2008, 11:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Like the previous poster said, the beneficiary's (which is you) financial situation will not affect the K-1 process. It is the petitioner's (your fiance) which is important.

He must have income which is 125% above the poverty guidelines in order to sponsor you on his own. If this is not possible, he will need a co-sponsor, such as a parent, other family member or friend who is willing to do so.

You might also want to consider getting through the K-1 process before your fiance goes back to school. He could possibly start looking for a new job right now knowing that his current job will end in July. Then, once you are approved and move to the U.S., you can apply for AOS, get your work authorization, and then you could support the two of you while your fiance goes back to school.

For me, the goal would be getting to the U.S., then figuring out how to make your lives financially better after that.

Good luck.

thank you, too smile.gif

this news of his upcoming unemployment is brand new and a little overwhelming. it helps to think about things in a few different ways and i appreciate you taking the time to offer this scenario. we'll definitely have to talk and see what will be best. all the decisions we have to make will take time and planning to see through. with regard to supporting him, if i could deal with my debt then this would be possible. it would be nice to put my situation in the past. it drags up a lot of bad memories as the big part of my debt is from supporting my ex. live and learn.

we still have a way to go in the K1 process (probably at least 9 months is my best guess) so we'll definitely have to think about all of this and see what will be best for everyone involved. we also have his 8 year old son to consider.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresinput / advice re: bankruptcy during K1 process
so i'm in a bit of a situation. i'm drowning in debt. i was advised to declare bankruptcy about a year ago. instead i did my best until january and then i got a loan. this loan is causing massive strain at the moment. this morning i also found out that david will be out of a job by the end of july and is now considering going back to school so he can get ahead again. i support him fully but this means that my move to the US, and the K1 we filed, might be out the window due to our financial limitations. crying.gif

will bankruptcy cause problems in my K1 process?

thanks in advance.

I don't anticipate any problems, but I can tell already when I crossed border in April that they have my information linked to my passport already ... the questions the Border Guard had were more intense then before! He was a little frustrated with me because when I said I was going to Portland, he got snipey and said "which one? we have 5 you know!" I kinda cringed at that ... don't need to be upsetting them!

i have crossed twice since we filed. the first time wasn't too bad but the second... yowza! as soon as i said 'fiance' they scanned my passport and asked all kinds of questions about the K1, how i met david, and so on. i always enjoy the "how would a woman from toronto meet a man from chicago?" as if it's some totally crazy thing that would never, ever happen. laughing.gif they didn't ask to see any paperwork but it was a bit nerve wracking. it's definitely worth taking as much paperwork as you can to ensure you have lots of documentation on your side.

Well, they do say "all" previous visits so my first thought would be that yes, you have to list them all. I can see how it could be quite complicated for you though.

Sorry I don't have a sure answer on this but at least my reply will bring the thread back up in the list and maybe someone who missed it before will see it and be able to give you an answer.

Now, in regards to my own questions, am I the only one in Quebec on the board?

thanks pandora smile.gif

i doubt you are the only person from quebec... maybe just the only active person from quebec? just a thought - have you contacted the minister of education for quebec? maybe if there is a general contact they can put you in touch with someone who could help you to find the info you require? if you have any idea of the school boards in the districts you grew up in, they might also be able to assist you. i hope you are able to find this info without too much hassle.

i am quite fortunate. my mom has copies of ALL of my report cards and assessments from kindergarten through until OAC (grade 13 in ontario). thank goodness for her very thorough record keeping!

i don't particularly like it either! thanks for bringing my attention to the DS-230 form. i'll have to see if my parents can help me with the listing of educational institutions.

the other question that boggles my mind: "List dates of all previous visits to or residence in the United States. (If never, write "never") Give type of visa status, if known. Give DHS "A" number if any."

i grew up close to the border and my family owns property in florida. when i was younger, we used to travel back and forth quite frequently. they don't seriously want EVERY visit to the US, do they? blink.gif

patience can be a challenge given how hard some days are in this process. it hasn't even been a month since we got our NOA1 so we know we have quite a wait left. seeing folks getting approved quickly at other service centres can be frustrating BUT we try to look at it this way... with each passing day we're one day closer to being together. and whenever i get upset or think "it's not fair" or "holy cow, this is a complicated process" i stop myself and think of how lucky i am to have found someone who i want to spend the rest of my life with. i have been given such a special gift.
