PhilippinesNurses from the Philippines
It would be difficult to get a job if she has zero experience.
In general, hospitals are hiring so much less new grads at this moment.
There are many RNs working as a server etc and looking for a job at the same time.
She would be able to find a RN position eventually, but RN is not a guaranteed job anymore.

Hello Everyone,

My beloved wife has started her first job here in America. Its only part time to start till her pregnancy gets a bit less stressful.
Now she can pay taxes just like everyone else! good.gif
She is working for a local day care in the nursery taking care of 14 new babies!!
What kind of first job did your SO do when she/he first got here in the US?

Phil

Send her to Nursing School in USA
She will only need an Associates degree to be a Registered Nurse in USA.
Don't waste her time working at a dead end job, plan for her and yours future

Oh well...Im planning on hitting a degree in the future and RN is my target...
But right now, i am starting to go on with this job to get an experience working here in America...i want to start with the small job first, one step at a time...
But you know what, working in a daycare is not a dead end job as long as you enjoy what you are doing..

That's true. I was a preschool teacher in the US 4 years ago. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to quit the job and go back to my county at that time.
Now I am on the US soil again as an immigrant and would love to go back to the childcare field, but I am now a pre-nursing student and will take a 6-week CNA course soon.
I thought I would better off working for children as a CNA and later RN.

I would like to be either Jesus or God

I thought of that also but ruled it out because some of the 'rules' are just too strict for me... good.gif

Like that darn rule about premarital sex... #######! blink.gif

If your God or Jesus, You don't have no rules.

You make the rules.........

I always wished I was the rules jest.gif

PhilippinesTypo in my PASSPORT
QUOTE (marriedtomrg @ Sep 27 2009, 07:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You should have it corrected. It has to coincide with your birth certificate.

Better do it now while there is time.

I agree good.gif

Philippinescan I get a US passport now?
You are eligible to apply for naturalization when you have been an LPR and married to a same USC for three years.
Once you become a USC, you can get a US passport.

PhilippinesMy wife came here via K-1 and now obtains Permanent Residence

I'm sure this has been asked before, but how could my wife become a dual citizen(Philippines/USA)? Is there any way for a US Permanent Resident Card holder to become a US citizen and still retain Philippine citizenship if she is just simply married to a US citizen?

Another thing I'm wondering is with the start of conditional permanent residence is it 3 or is it 5 years after that she can apply for US Citizenship?

It is three years if you filed it based on the marriage to a USC. If not, it is 5 years.

PhilippinesSS numer
It all depends. Some get their SSN in 2-3 weeks and others never receive theirs.
If you are in a hurry to get a SSN, you can always walk in a local SSA office and apply for one.
I also checked yes on my DS-230, but I applied for my SSN 5 days after my POE and it came in a mail 10 days later.
