Asia: East and PacificAll Japan Filers
Hello Japan filers,

I remember seeing on the US embassy Japan website that they keep approved petitions for an indefinite period, but I can't find it anymore.
Somebody told me that they changed the system a couple of months ago and now revoke the petitions a year after the approval date unless petitioners notify them for extention.
Does anybody know this is true?

You can pick the results next day at some clinics but you might have to pay additional fee.
As long as I know, Tokyo British Clinic is open Saturday morning, but I am sure none is open on Sunday.

It's not necessary at all. I know many USC spouses go for their interview alone and successfully receive the visa in a day or two.
I (a USC spouce) will go by myself as well because my husband will move back to the US before my visa gets approved.

Tokyo British Clinic is open on Saturday and you can pick up the result in 2 hours if you pay the expedited fee.
Supposedly you need a letter from NVC to make an appointment, but clinics in Tokyo seem to be flexible if you tell them you are in a hurry.
Good luck.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Could pregnancy be a problem for a visa?
There was a pregnant lady when I went for my medical.
Later she emailed me that her visa was approved without any problem.
Don't need to worry. You are not the only one.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Could pregnancy be a problem for a visa?
Yeah, it is no problem.
Make sure to tell them you are pregnant so they don't take an x-ray of your body.

Congratulations smile.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat should they do?
He can adjust his status right after he gets married and doesn't have to go back to his country.
He can legally stay in the US while waiting for the approval of his GC.
Good luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo we need a marriage certificate from the U.S.?
You don't need to register your marriage because marriages which are legally performed and valid abroad are also legally valid in the US.
However, bring your marriage certificate to the US Embassy in India and have it notarized for later use when you have to prove your marital status.

She has to say yes if you guys employed a lawyer or administrative scrivener (Gyosei-shoshi), otherwise the answer is no.
If she's already said yes to the question, I am not sure what will follow.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew need advice.....
You need to file K3 in the US after you are married because people residing in Australia over 6 months are eligible for DFC.
If I were you, I would go for K3 and CR1 petitions simultaneously.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMarried but K3 not yet filed, entering U.S. should we go through separately?
When I (non-USC) enter to the US, I always go through the citizen line with my husband (USC) and never had any problem.
We usually tell IOs that we both live in Japan and the purpose of visit is visiting family in the US.
Good luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Certificate
QUOTE (dnf @ May 12 2009, 04:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

Good news. We got approved for K3 & I-130 on April 20th (yay!) and I just received a package from the US embassy in Malaysia asking me to send in a bunch of stuff. One of the things they require is the police certificates. Since I turned 16, I have lived in the US (4 years - attended a university), and Japan (11 months - worked) and now I'm working in Vietnam (currently on the 6th month in Vietnam).

Please do drop by a line or two on how I should deal with the US, Japan & Vietnam government to get the police certificates.

Thanking all of you in advance!!!

dnf

First of all, congratulations on your approval!

Where did you live in Japan? You need to contact the prefectual police of your last residence to request one.
If it is Tokyo, take a look here at http://www.keishicho...pply/tokoue.htm
You don't need a police certificate from the US.

Good luck good.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 or CR-1
QUOTE (natay @ Sep 3 2009, 01:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If a couple has been together less than two years is there any benefit to applying for the CR-1 since it is going to come with conditions anyway?

If you go for K-3, you will have to spend extra money ($1010 I think) for AOS. Plus you can neither work till you get EAD nor leave the US till you get AP.
The benefits of CR-1 are IV serving as a temp I-551, work authorized, and immediate GC issuance.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPassport name for interview
If she takes your surname in the US, she needs to amend her surname on the passport or get a new one with the married name.
Names on the passport and the US visa should match if I am not mistaken.
