transcripts will save you a lot of paper and time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWorry about my interview,
i don't think you will need 1,000 plus pages for your interview...it's a bit of overkill.

you just need a few pages of each type of sample with dates that vary to show the length etc.
don't worry so much!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about affidavit of support
i think you only have to be above it at the time that you are petitioning the spouse.
3 years is just to show that you are stable and have been above it for 3 years.

if you haven't been, then you don't have to show 3 years.

if you call the NVC number you can access the AVR and enter the CIS number you were given for NOA1.
from there you can see if you have an NVC number yet. without waiting for an operator.

can you add something in before the NVC stage telling people to get their PCC right after they get their NOA2, to avoid delays at the NVC stage???

that step costed me a LOT of extra time. :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTwo Translation Questions
i translated the birth cert by myself. it was not hard.

you can download already translated fill in the blank files from the TOKYO embassy website!!!

for the PCC you don't do anything. do not open it or anything.
i THINK the documents do not really have to be translated since it is the country of origin. but i am not sure about tokyo.

we translated ours to be safe though.

i stapled the forms that were multi-paged together. i did this because i clipped them all, but the guy at the embassy went and stapled it all and made a big mess anyway.

it doesn't really matter if you staple or clip. they will take out staples, they have staple removers, if they need to. and you don't have to do the hole punches, cuse they do that.

just make sure it's well organized and put those little label flags on it and you're gold!

My hubby wants to quit his job now. it is not related to anything for the visa. but the i-130 and DS230 documents have the information about his current job.
the embassy website says you MUST not quit your job before you get a visa. if he quits, will they not give him a visa because he quit his job????

you could try calling the embassy or just do some research online see what other people do. it will probably take awhile either way.

it takes 2 weeks to get the PCC if you are a japanese and live in japan, i can't imagine how long it takes for a foreigner abroad...

Asia: East and PacificTokyo Embassy Interview Experience Details

Thanks for the well wishes!
I was digging around a bit and I found this link on the VJ site: Tokyo, Japan, US Embassy / Consulate Info. It looks like we'll need some kind of proof before they will issue the Police report. Good thing I received the hard copy of the NOA2 today in the mail. I'll just scan that in and send it to her; she can use that along with whatever the US Embassy sends her.

that's all we did!
he also took some other documents too, but i think he only needed to show NOA2!

Asia: East and PacificTokyo Embassy Interview Experience Details
Hello all!
So for all curious as to how the interviews in tokyo go, here is our experience's details!

He arrived early. about 1 hour early. there was no one waiting outside the embassy so it was easy to enter.
At the door he received some checklists and they security checked his bag twice.

The embassy was not that busy that day. only about 7 people were there for immigration visas at that time. (early morning)
There was probably only 2 people doing the visa interviews.

When entering the main building a lady gave him a number, and he took a seat. After waiting about 30 minutes they finally called his number. He went to the counter and a Japanese lady just checked some documents and he gave her his medical results and the expack 500 (envelope for sending the visa in).
She then asked in Japanese,
"What is your wife's father's name?"
"Is she working?"
then the lady was talking to herself and said something about how i have worked at my job for about 10 years. (apparently she was not impressed by it. whatever!! :hehe: )
She then told him to go wait again. and he waited some more.

About 30 minutes later they called his number and he did the fingerprinting.
American girl was friendly and told him to go sit down again after it was done.

After about maybe 20 more minutes they finally called his number for the interview.
the interviewer is some american guy (LUCKY!! :D ). he took an oath and then he handed him some document to sign (ds-230??). then the interview began.

"When did you meet?"
"Does she study Japanese?"
"How many times did she come to Japan?"
"When did she leave Japan?"
"When did you get married?"
"Where did you get married?"
"How many times did she come back to Japan (after the marriage)?"
"Have you been to her house in the USA before?"
"How many times did you visit?"
"What do her parents think of you?"
"What kind of work do you do?"
"Will you do that in the USA?"

Congratulations! Your visa is approved. You will receive your visa in about 1 week.

he says the interview was more like a conversation. haha.
The guy didn't ask for ANYTHING!! no evidence at all. so lucky us! some other people had to show photos or other evidence. so our case must have been good! alright!!!

Now we are done with this visa stuff for 2 years!! THANK YOU GOD!!!
THANK YOU VJ MEMBERS!!! without all you we would have been lost!! (L) (F)
