K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFOR ALL THE NEWLY APPROVED!!!
Maybe they're taking a little longer now... About 15 days after the NVC approved my Form I-129F - if I remember correctly - I received a letter from the "Consulate Services Agency" stating that the file was been forwarded to the overseas consulate.

Sorry the letter was from the Bureau of Consular Affairs.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 VISA APPROVED/KENYA
CONGRATULATIONS! ;)

My husband also went through the Nairobi Embassy to get his visa. My husband said that he also had a good experience at the embassy with his interviewer, who was polite and friendly. Perhaps your wife has been interviewed by the same gentleman?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOk need help again..
What kind of waiver is your friend referring to: I-601?

I don't know the alphabet soup of visas and waivers available but generally speaking, only a few categories of people can remain in the US while their AOS (Form I-485) is pending, including K-1's who have married their USC Fiances. Why would a K-1 need a waiver? Perhaps I'm totally missing the point.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmailing DOES pay off...
  Richi, thanks for your humor

Emailing the consulate is like betting on a horse and winning (I sometimes get the first 2 in good order, rarely 3). Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I found out that I usually have more luck with the horse than with the consulate though!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionA truly upsetting day in London
Not all is lost. You can file a waiver and probably will get it if you prepare it well  . You can find very experinces/advice on how to file a waiver in this section at VJ, and also more at "www.immigrate2us.net". Here is the link: www.immigrate2us.net/forum/portal.php

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew Article on Consular Denials
Thank you John for this quite interesting article. This is helpful for people who, like me, have tried to understand (without success really) and to wind their way through the immigration services byzantine rules and regulations....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDo the 2 yrs spent as CONDITIONAL Permanent Resident count when applying for citizenship?
I obtained permanent residency right away so I know nothing about conditional residency. However, the date which will appear on your permanent Greencard, valid for 10 years, is the "official" date that "counts" towards citizenship.

Here is what I found in USCIS we site:

"5. When does my time as a Permanent Resident begin?

Your time as a Permanent Resident begins on the date you were granted permanent resident status. This date is on your Permanent Resident Card (formerly known as Alien Registration Card). Click here to view a sample card"
