PhilippinesChat Logs???
QUOTE (pweettyy @ Jul 31 2009, 01:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
How many chatlogs needed per month for me to print out for the additional evidences needed for the USEM interview?

I am doing one every 7 to 10 days... Just looking for representative chat logs.. Sufficient in length and content to demonstrate
a normal conversation. Conversations about the full range of everyday topics... Like perhaps you might have with a sibiling or
best friend. Of course with a fair amount of love, miss you, etc marital stuff too. Lets face it,,, there is alot of stupid and corny
conversations if you chat for a long time... Like describing a UTube video I seen on a news program and a similiar thing I
personally seen. But, that is life and it will be seen as such by the CO.

Regards and Good Luck,

PhilippinesManila Embassy Visa Same Day Pickup -- POSSIBLE ???
QUOTE (DouglasFiel @ Aug 3 2009, 03:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My wife will have her CR1 interview on August 17th. Through a fortunate set of circumstances (work sent me to Asia for this timeframe)
I WILL be present at the US Embassy in Manila for the interview.

With the USC being present at the Embassy, what are the chances that the Consular Officer will allow the Visa to be produced and picked
up the same day as the interview,,, Or, next day Embassy pickup? Personal experience is preferrable, but, opinion and conjecture is welcome.

I had read somewhere here,,, that the Consular Officer might ask if you have travel plans in the next 3 to 5 days. Anyone have this question asked?

Our interview is at 8:30am on a Monday. I depart the following Sunday and was hoping to have her accompany me.

Note: I had seen some other messages out there,,, But, was really wondering the impact of a USC there and requesting a Visa issued same or next day.

Thanks to all here on VJ. I just hope I have been as helpful to others,,, as this site has been to my wife and I.

Regards to all,

Philippinesneed help so badly
QUOTE (yan @ Aug 8 2009, 12:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
To all VJ members,

Me and my husband were married last feb2008. We had a child who is 18 months old now. Last Sept,2008 we found out that he's having a cancer so i sent him back here in US for treatment. At that time im still in the Philippines and trying to get my visa. Last May14,2009 my daughter and i arrived here in US. But sad to say my husband passed away last month(July28,2009).
Its not easy to be a single mom,to be alone by now and not be with my husband whom i depend too much.I appliedd for survivor benefits from social security. With that money i decided to moved back in the Philippines BUT SSA said that if il go back in Phil and stay there for more than 6 months our pension will gonna stop.
Also im thingking all the time about my situation here, about my conditional status because im a cr1 while my daughter is having a 10 yrs greencard.
Pls advice me what to do with my status. Since my husband is gone, what will be happen in my conditional status?Should i need to lift it?
I am planning to go back also in Phil next month.

Advice will be highly appreciated.

A few things,, Contact you Senator and Congressman,,, see which one has a better immigration support person. And, see what they have to say about your situation. Also, get an appointment with Immigation to see what they have to say. There has been some changes to the law in regards to spouses in your situation.

Always validate the information you are given,,, and get it in writing if possible.

I think you will need to stay in the USA if you need the income and more importantly,,, you will give up the pathway to US citizenship for you and your child.

If you have any relatives in the USA to help you... Might be a good time to call... cause,,, with survivor benefits you would not be a financial burden to them,,, and
who knows in this current recession. Might even be welcome.

Sorry for your loss, Give it some time. The days ahead will get better.

Philippinescontinental airlines
I just got here from Manila myself. I helped her get the travel tax paid,,, and then I had to leave... different flights.

My wife is enroute via Continental right now,,, Purchased directly w/Continental.

There is a travel tax for Filipino Citizens of 1620p... Booth in the main lobby. You will also have to pay a 750p terminal
fee once you head toward the gate and before you pass thru immigration. I purchased the ticket via credit card and she
had no problem at the airport.

Baggage... Should be able to check 2 bags each weighing a maximum of 23kg without excess baggage charges. I did see
another counter for shipping extra bags for less in the main airport lobby. We were fine with the luggage. I just checked
all of her baggage under my flight.

PhilippinesGOD is GREAT, SHERYL GOT THE PINK.
Abby,

Congrats,,,

Just to let you know Air21 sent a text message they are in possession of the Passport/Visa. So, We are hoping for a Visa delivery today or at the latest tomorrow morning. So, it is possible for you to receive your visa by COB Thursday.

Also,,, I am double checking flights... To try to get Fiel on my scheduled Flight on Sunday. Looks like it is sold out. So,,, at this point looking at alternatives.

PhilippinesPicking up the visa
I know of no-one lately that has been allowed to pickup the visa. Emergency only,, they said.

Regardless,,, Air21 will not allow anyone to receive the package unless your wife signs a release for
others to sign for the package.

PhilippinesHow much time to allot for POE on her flight to USA??
Personally I would try to avoid LAX (Most of my co-workers think the same -- Slow, inefficient and rude)... However, the airlines will allow the correct "Legal" connect time when connecting through an international POE. LAX 2 hours should be fine.

Going to Central Texas... If using American Airlines there is a Tokyo - DFW connection and If using Continential there is a POE of Guam/Honolulu (our choice)...

Good Luck,

PhilippinesFlying on September 15, 2009!
JAL - AA ... I flew 8/23. 2 - checked bags 23 kg (50lbs). 1 - carry on 18kg (40 lbs) I used a 22" rollerboard... and, you may also carry on a purse or personal item... (My personal item was a backpack - laptop bag)..

Not sure about excess baggage charges.

DouglasFielMalePhilippines2009-09-11 11:42:00
Philippineshow much u need to pay for visa?
For a K3 there would be a visa cost. For a CR1 you only need to pay for the Air21 visa delivery fee. I think it was 210 for a Manila delivery.

We got a new passport with the married name,,, the NVC copy was maiden name. No problems at the embassy,,, They get the passport ahead of time from St Lukes. The visa was issued in the married name.

PhilippinesIs it too early for her to start getting together her stuff?
I understand the NBI clearance is good for one year.... And that should be the only time limit paper. You should be ready to interview in 6 months or so after filing. Personally I think it is better to get all of the paperwork done now. That way if there is any document problems,,, you spend the time resolving now,,,

Philippinesmy fiancee is scared about the interview
My wife is an RN (But, they never asked about her work),,, There is an age difference but, they never asked about it,,, All of the focus was on the accuracy of the submitted paperwork and then the proof of a bonafide relationship. Did the proofs and submitted paperwork match,,, I assume making
sure the when, where and how we met,, match between her and I,,, and continued relationship proofs.

PhilippinesNBI AND POLICE CLEARANCE
Generally if you submitted the original NBI copy to NVC that should be fine. As the NVC forwards the documents you sent them to the Embassy. And,, you will get a list of required docs/missing documents when your interview is scheduled.

However, it is a good idea to have a second "Original" set of documents in case something gets lost between NVC and the Embassy. And,, there is no problem getting a second NBI document or NSO document.

I just read the requirements!!! does she really need a notarized letter from parents even though she is 23? she turns 24 in april but I assume we would be done by then

Yes,,, the advice is supposed to be notarized,,, However, the letter of approval to travel just needed to be signed.... It was basically just a letter stating I give my daughter permission to travel abroad to join her husband. Not sure why they needed that,,, Since they had the consent/advice document.

Philippinesquestion on my visa packet
I really don't think anyone will be focusing on that data sheet... The airline will care about your visa, passport and the CFO stamp. Immigration on the US side will take the packet,, but, again they will be more concerned about you,,, not the petetioner. If you can get it fixed now that is better,,, but, in reality as long as your data is fine,, I think you will be fine.

If you sent a fairily big packet with USPS expedited.. It may have gotten sent through customs.. I sent a letter envelope priority (maybe 1" thick). And then after about three weeks.. She did not receive it.. I talked to the local post office here,,, And a lady told me depends on the country for clearing customs... I mention PI and she said,, Oh yeah that will be awhile... Sure enough, after about 5 or 6 weeks the package showed up at her house.

How this is what happened with your package.

Philippinesto add to the stress....lol...has anyone changed there adress?
Might be able to get a hold at post-office... Or do what I did when I moved back to the USA... Got a PO BOX and used that address until I found a house. Or,,, possible use a friends address.

Problem with using the Post Office mail forwarding... Sometimes,,, they still deliver to the old address. And, you certainly do not want immigration papers getting mis-directed.

PhilippinesAll Pinays in Texas...
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Jun 25 2009, 02:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey gals, my finacee will be living here with me in Texas when she arrives from Cebu. I was wondering how all of you Filipinas that live in Texas like it.
Does the weather seem ok, have you spent a brutal Texas summer here yet? We don't really get much snow, and the winters are generally mild, so you may not feel too cold here. Tank tops and flip flops are the norm here for 9 months out of the year.
We have beaches here, not as nice as PI, but beaches none the less. We have many lakes and rivers, and because the weather is so warm here there is alot of water-sports to get involved in, (wakeboard, wakeskate, ski, swim, boating, etc.).
There are lot's of good fishing spots, so we have a good variety of fresh seafood.
The Spanish influence can be seen and felt through town's names, the food, people's last names, etc.
There are lot's of Hispanics here, so the black hair/eyes, and brown skin doesn't stand out at all.
All in all i think Texas is a great cross-over from the PI.....am i right ladies?
Salamat Yall!

I have lived in the Austin area for more then 15 years. It is a great place and there are many Filipinos in the area, in fact I
had two working for me at one point in time in the computer field. The Filipinos seem to adjust well to any environment.

But, I think they will not know they are moving to a great place... As, it is often stated, "I was not born in Texas. But, I got here as soon as I could". Texans have a pride for the State that you will not see elsewhere.

+++

My Wife is a Registered Nurse and should be here in September as our case just finished at the NVC...

Any other Filipino Nurses,, that are making the transition to Texas,,, with a K1 K2 or IR/CR1?
