Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHmmm, does this look really bad?
Nah, I'm with Meauxna. I don't think it'll matter much. Hubby and I didn't even have wills when we applied to lift conditions (don't now yet either  )

I think it's a matter of "as long as you've done it" not as to when.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFiling I-751 at Vermont
I really think with Vermont, it's the luck of the draw as to how long your processing will take...lol
Speaking for myself, I filed my I-751 at the beginning of December 2006 and didn't hear a thing for 2 whole months (I called the hotline after 30 days tho and she "flagged" it) and then I received my NOA and my biometrics appointment letter the very same day!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionneed help

the USCIS ask if i change my address i have to let them know within 10 days but me and my wife (sponsor) has been in our new home for 1 month now,now we are going to send address change ,what will happen?thanks a lot.

Hi!
I don't know what will happen, but i guess it should be fine theoretically and you must file the AR-11-Change of adress and I-865 -Spnsors change of adress forms as soon as possible. You should also call INS on 1-800 number and notify them about the Change of adress on the phone too.
Best wishes (F)

whats the INS phone number? i live in FL,thx

The number you want is 1-800-375-5283

ETA: Have your SSN and A# handy as you will be asked for them.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDate on NOA1 is 7 days after greencard expiration date

HI,
IF You got the biometrics, you will get soon the Extension letter for one year...
have you got this letter already?

Yes, we got them both on the same day.

THAT IS CUTTING IT CLOSE. HIS EMPLOYMENT STATUS WAS PROBABLY IN LIMBO DUE TO THE SHORT PERIOD BETWEEN THE NOA AND EXPIRATION OF THE CONDITIONAL GREEEN CARD. GOOD LUCK

I know, we effed up by sending it so late.

On the cancelled checks, handwritten under an EAC number is the date 2/28/07, so I've printed it out as proof that that's when they accepted it.

I guess we'll see where it goes from here.

Peach, you're just fiiiiiine...stop worrying.

Nope. No new number. And often times, the number we have from our NOA doesn't work for the online status.
Now....we simply wait. :sleepy:

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWant to make sure I'm understanding this correctly

Hi -

It's been a while since I've been here, but it's getting to be that time that my wife and I need to file to get the conditions lifted off her green card.

In section 7.9 of the FAQ it refers to, after approval, having to go back to a USCIS office with photos, etc., as part of the process to get a new green card without conditions.

Is that now out-of-date, given the new way USCIS handles biometrics? Now, if you're approved, you just get the new card in the mail, right? With the photo and fingerprint you provided at your biometrics appointment?

80 people looked at this question, and nobody could answer it?

Hmm.

UpNorthGuy, I guess like me, everyone wanted to be absolutely sure they were certain of the answer and didn't want to give you the wrong answer, ya know?
I myself, applied back in December, and at that point I still had to send in passport photos. From my understanding, tho I'm not certain, I don't think the photos are requested any longer.
Have you done a search for anything like "photos for I-751" or summat in this forum by any chance?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics this morning...

I went with my husband this morning for the fun of it. I just love Cleveland, 82 deg and sunny on Tuesday, 32 and freezing wind and snow today. So that made for a fun walk from the parking garage to the Fed Building.

Anyway we were there for an hour and 20 min (got there 20 min early). I wasn't too happy with that, but my husband was (since he was getting off work and getting paid for it). They did ask for his resident card, even though it only mentions to bring that if you are a Naturalization application. Whatever, he had it with him.

Does he still need to carry that around with him all the time (in theory) even though it's expired? We have the letter of extention, but it's not like he'd carry around a letter all the time.

What I have done, is had color photocopies made of my extension letter, permanent resident card and SS card. I carry the copies with me in my purse and the originals are safe at home but easily accessible if need be..

Yup, Marilyn is correct except for one thing - I'm willing to bet that her card said 03/24/07 and not 03/24/17, right Marilyn?

Update: My check for $205.00 (sent to VSC on Dec. 5th and received by them on Dec. 7th) was finally cashed on 12/29...no NOA as of yet.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWaiting List
Sent my I-751 to VSC on Dec. 5th and it was received Dec. 7th. (according to "return receipt" from USPS)
I sent a check for only 205$ because as far as I knew there was no fee change at that time.
Check has not been cashed yet (that has me a bit concerned...) and have not received a NOA.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics appointment
If your local ASC is anything like mine was, then you might not even be able to wait with your wife anyway. My husband had to wait in the adjoining lobby.
There's no need for you to be with your wife as long as she understands the English language well and can count in English (you are given a number and told to wait until your number is called) :)
When I went to my biometrics appointment, they took fingerprints of all 10 fingers, a photo with a digital camera and I had to sign my name on a plastic sheet for a computer screen. I had a bit of a wait at my appointment, it took about an hour and a half if I remember correctly. But it varies, some people are in and out in 10 minutes!

I told my wife that I think the second Biometrics is to make sure that she is the same person that intially filed and was approved. I was joking with her, but it would not surprise me if this is the truth

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 Approved from VSC!

Awesome! Congrats!!

Now... what is the next step??

That would be either:

1) Applying for citizenship as soon as eligible

or

2) Applying for another 10 year green card, in 10 years - 3 months from date of current new card's expiration.

Speaking for myself, I will be applying for citizenship asap after getting my 10 year green card!

Here is my timeline:

11/24/06: sent in I-751 to VSC
11/27/06: VSC received my package
12/3/06: check cashed (I cannot remember the exact date, but it is roughly around 12/3)
12/21/06: NOA1 received
1/5/07: Biometrics notice recieved
1/22/07: Biometrics taken
5/24/07: I-751 approved, 10-year green card production ordered by VSC

It's been a real nice experience here with you all. Thanks for all the info!

But but but....you're sticking around, right? Gotta help the newbies with your knowledge thru experience!!

My experience is now so outdated that so much has changed and I can't be much of a help anymore.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving During Process

Can you open a PO box at the new location? If yes I would do that and use the PO box for this part of the process. That way you can be sure no mail will be lost.

Not sure about this - I seem to remember that USCIS will not mail anything to a P.O. Box, that it must be a physical address.
Can anyone confirm this or know if this is the case?

Clloyd, maybe send it with the new address on the forms? If it got there before you moved, would there be someone there who could keep it for you, maybe?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI got 2 years GC after 3 years marriage.is it mistake?
I've heard that it's entirely up to the adjucating officer as to which GC will be issued - but I think if it were me, I would make an Infopass appointment just to make sure because most people who have been married for 3 years do get a 10 year card...

Good luck!
