US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Interview Prep - Jamaican Embassy

Hi there! I'll try to answer your questions based on my understanding and experiences when I did the same....

1.) The medical exam result(sealed envelope) will be submitted to the embassy upon interview, and the hospital/clinic will give this to the "beneficiary" after the exam or in some cases, it may take few days before the beneficiary can pick-up the result personally, though I'm not sure about the procedures in your country...

2.) I just secured 2 copies of each form before I went to my interview, but submitted only one copy each ...

3.) You can make follow-up to the embassy about the packet 3, all the information abt police clearance, medical, and forms are included in that packet...and they will just give you a website, and you can also check the copy of packet 3 online at the USEM website, you need to know your case number to check your status online. Make sure to make copies of financial docs needed, and at least 2 yrs tax returns/W2(2011 and 2012)...some may even ask for 3 yrs, but it always depends on the Consul...

4.) Just make a copy of your NOA2 and submit, but make sure you keep a copy of that because you'll be needing that for the AOS.

  5. The intent to marry should be sent upon filing the 129F...but you can make another copy with more details to be submitted upon interview, but this is not necessarily required...

I'm wishing you all the best in your journey! fighting! Goodluck....

ThailandThailand Thread
Dear Thai Experts,
Quick change of topic....
Just found this forum, and it’s been very helpful! I posted something like this in the DCF section; hope its ok I post here too.
We are in the beginning of filling our I-130/IRC-1. and we want to include our assets in Thailand/SEA. My husband owns land and we have a rental property. We also have rental property in Indonesia in my name. The rental income will continue. So my question is:

Where do we find an approved USCIS licensed appraiser to do a valuation? Or do we just translate our deeds / bills of sale / long-term lease? A simple translation won’t show the current value.

Are we required to add this info on our US income taxes? Currently Uncle Sam does not know of our overseas property holdings devil.gif and if we don’t- will we be flagged?
Thanks all! S&S star_smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical exam in Bangkok
Hello everyone!
I am going to get my medical exam next week. Are there any forms from packet 3 I need to take with me for it? Or any other forms or documents besides packet 3 forms? Is it possible to get a medical exam if I don't have a case number from the NVC yet. I am just trying to get it done early.
I am trying to get it done as soon as possible, so when packet 3 arrives,I just send everything in right away.

Thank you
Cheryl

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionINTERVIEW
Hi everyone,
Our question today is when she goes to interview at the Embassy in Bangkok, do I need to be there and go with her. I realize I wouldn't be sitting with her during the actual interview, but do I need to go with her to the embassy, or does it not make a difference?

Thanks, Jim

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew guy, questions on visiting US
Hey everyone, I had a few questions and the search engine here is a lil funky, so I was hoping to just ask for some help.

I am sitting in Newark Airport waiting for my flight back to see my Fiancee and get back to work on monday. We were sad because she was denied the 30 day tourist visa, as I have been home for this past month.

We plan on getting married legally in nov/dec and the ceremony is on 3/31/07. Now what we want to do is this.
We only want to return to the US for 2-3 months in may-aug. She will begin to teach again in Sept and I will be starting my MBA here as well. So trying to move perm. to the US is out for the next 2-3 years.

What is the best Idea to bring my soon to be wife to America for a nice vacation?

Thanks in advance :)

OK Thanks for all the help! I will check out the forum and get working on our K3 visa this week.

If you have been a resident of Thailand for six months or more, you may be eligible to file an I-130 directly with the Consulate. If you have 11 months before you actually want to live in the US, I would definitely forget the K3 visa and go the CR1 visa route all the way. This works filing directly in Thailand or mailing your petition to the appropriate US service center of USCIS.

Yes, there is an income requirement and if you don't meet it, you'll need a joint sponsor who does. This too is far more reliably accomplished going the CR1 visa route. The remaining issue will be US domicile. You'll need a US address. If you didn't maintain one, you could use parent's or another family member's address.

Start by reading the "Guides" here.

B2 is a visitor visa. Use it to visit, not to "reside".

Great, I've been here for 2 years, this should speed things up. My parents are going to Joint sponser etc etc since both of us will go for further education once we get back so it's back to being a perpetual student :/
Thanks again for all of the help

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWe want to live in the US and she has a B2 already
Hey everyone, I have a few questions, I am sure my situation has occured before and was wondering if I could get pointed in the right direction!

My wife is Thai and we were married this past March. We were given a b2 10 year visa to come visit my family and we would like to plan on moving the the US in Oct 2008.

So should we apply for the k3 visa right away from Thailand or should we come over next Oct and begin the process for a greencard from the US.

If it is possible to start in the US, are we allowed to visit Thailand for say; a one month vacation?

I saw that for the K3 visa there is a salary requirement, currently we are both teachers and I moved here after I graduated University so the last job I had was at an electronics store, not exactly big $. Will this pose a problem?

Thanks for your time!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWondering if I made a mistake marrying in US
Hey, I was in a similar situation.

I married in Thailand and we came to the US, I was/am going for another degree and she planned to stay with me for a few months on a B2 visa. She was going to head home but our local congressman said to apply for adjustment of status. He has backed us up and we are going for our interview on the 5th of August.

Call up your local congressman's office and see what can be done. I doubt you will have any trouble.

I hope this is some help/encouragement. Btw, we arrived in late OCT, and applied in Feb.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIssue with I-693
OK, so this might be a unique situation.

We have our interview date coming up on 08/05.

We had everything submitted, however at the time of the visitation at the civil surgeon my wife was pregnant.

Recently she had a miscarriage and we are trying again.

So our original letter they have states that she was unable to receive the vaccinations become she was pregnant. As it stands today she may or may not be, and we won't know until after the interview date.

Would we just have the civil surgeon write a letter stating that she can no receive the shots until later, or can her OBGYN do this for us?

Thank you for the replys.

How can paystub help for my fiance situation? Sorry, I really don't know what it mean.... How does it work?

I believe it is 3 times however short he is. I believe 125% of the newest poverty guidelines would be approximately $18,400 for two people.

He would need to have about $17,700 ($5,900 X 3) in the bank. However, that is just to meet the minimum. Often they would want to see his earnings somewhat over that amount. I recommend he have proof of meeting the minimal income requirement for 2009 (employer letter + pay slips).

Thank you for your suggestion.Well... I don't think he have that much in his bank account, will his life insurance help too because he doesn't have any asset? He is working at the university as a full time employee and he is staying at the University apartment. I think his minimal income will meet the requirement for 2009.

Thank you again.

Unless he is in the military, you'll need to be at 125% of the federal guideline for poverty. I'm not sure what assets could get you around this number. The best thing would be for him to have a job that shows he'll be good in 2009 or for him to find a cosponsor for the visa.

Thank you.
but in Thailand, the us embassy doesn't accept a co-sponsor. We just got appoved from USCIS and still waiting for NOA 2 hard copy to send.

Hello, My fiancé and I are working on a fiancé visa. My fiancé didn't
meet the minimum poverty guideline for 2008 because he just finished his degree in May 2008. Does anyone know what
assets the government will accept as proof of financial support? In
addition, he has some money in savings. What amount of money would be
needed to makeup a $1500 shortfall in 2008 (he had $12,500 of the
required $14000(100%) for 2008)? Will it be 100% or 125% of proverty guideline?

Thanks for your help!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNOA 2 Undeliverable
My fiance just received an email notifying us that the NOA 2 (application approval notice) was returned by the postal service as undeliverable. My fiance called the USCIS customer service to give them the correct address. The customer service representative made a note and said that they would contact us back within the next 45 days. Obviously we don't want to wait 45 days. How can we get USCIS to resend the notice more quickly? As a side note, the acceptance letter from the National Visa Center just arrived (so obviously they had the correct address) and the application has moved to the embassy in Bangkok. Do we need the NOA 2 to complete the fiance visa process or can we proceed without it?

I have been trying to contact the U.S. embassy in bangkok via email. It has been 9 weeks since I received form I-797 and my fiancee still has not received the package 3. I have sent emails to visabkk@state.gov and visabkk2@state.gov and I get an answer from postmaster@state.gov saying message was not delivered.

Anyone know what's going on? Is there another email address? Has anyone else recently tried to contact this embassy by email?

you forget to put another " s" after visa

here is the right one: visasbkk@state.gov

good luck

Australia and New ZealandNew Tourist Visa Benefit

Australia and New ZealandNew Tourist Visa Benefit
Tourist Visa extended up to Five years for parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

People keeps on coming into the land of life down under to experience those so many great things associated with it. However, distance sometimes hinders the total exhilaration of some new residents of Australia. With this in mind, the Gillard Government came out to looking for a longer Tourist visa for parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents towards the end of 2012.

The Australian Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Bowen MP, recently announced a case-by-case basis extension of stay for parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents granted of Tourist visas to visit Australia for a longer period of time. This is in quotation to Mr. Bowen MP announcement on September 4, 2012, “I know that many people are patiently waiting in the queue for a parent visa so we want to provide more generous tourist visa to enable regular extended family visas...”

In this new arrangement for parents Tourist visa, they maybe granted of:

- FIVE years Tourist visa validity providing a stay of up to 12 months on each entry to those parents who are located outside the country and are in a Parent (subclass 103) visa queue.
- THREE years Tourist visa validity with 12 months stay on each entry for parents who are located outside the country and are not in the Parent visa queue.

Under this arrangement, parents who meet all the possible requirements and criteria for this particular Tourist visa will enjoy their extended visits in Australia without needing to apply for a new visa on each entry.

Tourist visa holders will be subject to a visa condition limiting application for further visas while staying in the country. They must also hold a health insurance to cover any healthcare costs during their stay in Australia.

These changes made by the Gillard Government compliment the valuable role of parents in assisting their children or grandchildren in Australia.

Asia: East and PacificThailand - Packet 3
Hi,

About your question .You can preparing your document before you get Packet 3 except Medical exam and Police Certificate ( because Police will exp. about 3 month and Medical exam you mustwaiting for original form in the Packet 3 )I never heard about a denied from the US Embassy BKK .
This is about Processing for your K - 1
For those, USCIS sends NVC the notice of approval.
NVC handles just preliminary processing, including a required FBI namecheck.
Next, NVC sends the initial case file to the Immigrant Visa Unit in Bangkok.
Then, the Embassy’s Immigrant Visa Unit in Bangkok processes the newly arrived case and sends out the instructions packet (packet 3), including medical examination forms, directly to the visa applicant’s address in Thailand.
Finally, once the visa applicant returns Packet 3 to the Embassy, the IV Unit in Bangkok sends out the appointment letter (Packet 4.) The letter notifies the applicant of the date for the K1/K3 visa interview.
**** the interview is normally scheduled 10-12 weeks after the Packet 3 materials are returned
