I'm wondering, has anyone who filed in March called the USCIS yet to inquire? If our case is not touched or approved by this month's end i will call them.

Don't feel too bad. Ours was received 3/3/09, touched 3/6/09, and still no change. I'm thinking that the NOA2 is right around the corner though. It's frustrating, but not much we can do but wait.

Our case was received 3/3/09 at the Vermont center. It was touched 3/6/09. We have the hard copy NOA1. We have not seen any changes to our case since the first and only touch.
I am thinking about calling them. Will this irritate them and cause them to bury our case deeper, or is it ok to inquire? Has anyone else ever called the USCIS before? Thanks.

^OK, thanks. I guess i won't let it get me down. She made it sound like even 6 months would be fast for receiving the NOA2.
Hopefully she was just basically reading the site, like a script....it did sound like she was reading a script.

PhilippinesJust called the USCIS regarding March filers...
The service rep told me that they were indeed working on the cases filed late November. I then asked her, "does that mean that we have 3 to 4 months worth of cases ahead of ours until they get to the March filers?"
She said, "yes"
I said, "it's already been 4 1/2 months since our case was filed. How is it possible that with 3 to 4 months worth of cases ahead of ours, that we will receive the NOA2 within the 6 month time frame?"
She said, "the last known case to be adjudicated was dated November 25, 2009. We ask that you wait the 6 month allotted time and if no changes have been made to your case, call back and inquire further."

This is really frustrating and disheartening.

^So even though a passport is not needed for a cruise ship to mexico, she cannot do it? My sister and her family just got back from one and they went onshore at different ports in mexico and even rented a jeep to cruise around in for a few hours while at port, and none of them had to have a passport...only the cruise ship registry ID card.
I am confused as to whether or not a cruise ship is considered leaving the country if no passport is needed.

Hey all,
i was wondering. After my fiancee and i marry, (she's coming on a K1), would we be able to take a cruise for our honeymoon? We wanted to take a week long mexican carnival cruise. Would she be able to do that? I know the rules are a little different on cruise ships, but we are not sure.
Any info is appreciated!

Hi all,
As every case is different, the search function didn't help me alot.
Here's the deal.
Our K1 visa is pending and seems to be approximately 3 to 4 months from the NOA2.
I have been employed as an independent contractor for the last 3 years with the same company making $50,000+ per year.
I have all my tax returns showing this, but i do not have a letter from my employer stating my time there as i was self-employed.
I have all my check stubs for the last 3 years.
I got laid-off yesterday.
My questions are;
1) Will the interview require more recent proof of income than a tax return that is about 5 months old?
2) If i get employed with another company soon, is there a minimum required time that i must be at that new job for it to be a valid source of income?
3) Should i be freaking out right now?

You could very well have your NOA2 before I have mine! There's no rhyme or reason to it where USCIS is concerned. I haven't had any new activity on my file since Tuesday, the 28th. The waiting is driving me a bit silly.

Haha, constantly! But it doesn't seem to be updated in real time anyway, does it? I was touched yesterday, but it didn't show up until this morning -- I'm fairly certain I checked last last night. I'm probably better off waiting to check until tomorrow, but my patience level is at an all-time low. :)

Oh I know exactly how you feel, when I saw the date suddenly changed I was so nervous clicking on the case to see if anything had actually been done. Did you click on your WAC number to see if anything was different there? We didn't have one single touch throughout the process then BAM approved!! Won't be long now!! :dance:


Yes, I looked (with my hand trembling on the mouse) but it still had the same message as before. I've never had so much trouble being patient. This is way worse than Christmas.

CSC finally sent notification that they've received my RFE packet today. I sent it 9 days ago, priority mail, so they should've received it 4 days ago, minimum.

In my mind, I have this image of one poor guy in the mailroom, sorting and delivering thousands and thousands of letters and packets. I'd feel more sympathy if it wasn't my future on the line!

Anyway, here's to hoping CSC will get a move on and get my I-129F processed soon!

You also can only pay your student loan from a Canadian bank account.
It all pretty much sucks. And what's worse is that just because you move out of Canada all of these options for repayment are taken away. For what reason I ask.


Ugh, what a hassle. I'm about to marry myself into a pile of Canadian student loan debt as soon as my K-1 visa comes through. Luckily, (I'm the US citizen in our relationship) I've got a good job, and while it'll be tight for a while, I'll be able to assume the payments for his student loans until he gets a job and so forth. So... questions from those who know better than I do:

Can he keep his Canadian bank account when he leaves the country? Can I fill it from the U.S.? Can we do automatic drafts of payments?

ETA: Also, we requested May 30th as our interview date, because we had other important commitments the week before. The interviews are currently being scheduled about 4 weeks out from the return of Packet 3, as best as I can tell.

You'll definitely need your new case number at the least, when you go to the appointment, but as Cassie mentioned, it depends a lot on the doctor. Calling the office is a great idea. They'll tell you what you need, and they can give you an idea of how far in advance they're scheduling appointments. Dr. Chao in Saskatoon only schedules one immigration appointment per day, for instance, so he's scheduling about four weeks out. My fiance procrastinated a bit with scheduling the appointment (which he had a couple of days ago), and now we're cutting it a bit close for getting his test results back in time for our interview date. The nurse did say the office could fax any information to the Vancouver consulate if they didn't get back in time. So there might be a short delay, but nothing catastrophic.
