^Yeah, it was actually 110 F yesterday at my place! Anyway, we are really glad too get some responses here. I know it makes her feel good knowing that she's not gonna be the only Filipina in this big state! Who knows, maybe some day we could all have a VJ get-together on a weekend at a lake. Bar-b-q, swim, fish, boat around....just hang-out and have a good time. We could even rent a karaoke machine so our women can sing 70's and 80's love songs together! lol

Hey gals, my finacee will be living here with me in Texas when she arrives from Cebu. I was wondering how all of you Filipinas that live in Texas like it.
Does the weather seem ok, have you spent a brutal Texas summer here yet? We don't really get much snow, and the winters are generally mild, so you may not feel too cold here. Tank tops and flip flops are the norm here for 9 months out of the year.
We have beaches here, not as nice as PI, but beaches none the less. We have many lakes and rivers, and because the weather is so warm here there is alot of water-sports to get involved in, (wakeboard, wakeskate, ski, swim, boating, etc.).
There are lot's of good fishing spots, so we have a good variety of fresh seafood.
The Spanish influence can be seen and felt through town's names, the food, people's last names, etc.
There are lot's of Hispanics here, so the black hair/eyes, and brown skin doesn't stand out at all.
All in all i think Texas is a great cross-over from the PI.....am i right ladies?
Salamat Yall!

Will be 105F today in Austin. Right, I love the weather here not much of an adjustment except winter though. But winter is manageable. I was at Missouri last Dec. and it snowed. I was dying to come back here. Texas is best for me so far. smile.gif

You are in the Austin area? That's cool. I know it will make my fiancee happy to see these posts and know that she has some sisters near by. I live NW of Austin, about 30 minutes away. Maybe i will PM you sometime. I'm sure you have already found all the Filipino stores and what not around the area that my woman will inevitably be drawn to!
Thanks for the response!

She sure is one lucky Filipina, first she is getting to settle in the greatest state in the Union, plus she gets the Hill country to boot. She needs to buy a lottery ticket when she arrives. I spent alot of my youth and young adult life in Kerr county. Spent many, many summers and falls in those woods admiring God's masterful plan. Have spent many an hour walking up and down the Guadalupe river fishing, kicking rocks, and basking in the sun. I now make my home in the piney woods, due to commuting factors of the job market. One of the first trips my visayan fiance and I will make is floating the Llano river in Sept. We plan on taking advantage of all the natural resources the great state of Texas offers. An expat friend of mine has a Filipina wife from Toledo/Cebu and she loves Texas. The hot summer's down here on the Gulf Coast take some getting used to, but she loves it none the less. The Mexican's and Mexican/Americans speak spanish to her all the time because they think she is Latina hahaha....she just looks at me confused when this happens....I told her say "no habla espanol, por que yo soy Filipina" Hey its close enough for TEX-MEX. laughing.gif

^Yeah, my girl is really excited to do all the stuff we do around here. She can't wait to go bass fishing, deer/hog hunting, wakeboarding, boating, swimming, etc....and really wants to try that famous Tex-Mex food!
Her cousin married a Brit and is about to head to England. I keep telling my girl that she's not going to have to adjust nearly as much as her cousin will!
Hopefully she can meet other Filipinas around the Austin area too....i guess i'll drag the one of the posts above you into this too, seeing that they seem to be in Austin.
Thanks for the response bro.

PhilippinesMy wife's pregnant....could we have the baby in Cebu?
Hi all, my wife is pregnant! :)
Since she came here on a K-1 visa back in September, and her family wasn't able to attend our wedding in Texas, we were wondering if/how/where she could maybe have her baby in the Philippines so her family could be involved.

I do not have insurance, and i would just pay cash for the birth, so does anyone have any information about whether this is a good idea?
I would love to hear from someone who maybe already did this, but any good info is appreciated!
Salamat!

Why are we talking about issues like this here? It's a matter of choice. They chose to do it that way, they will grow up with the consequences if they didn't foresee that right away.

It is called making love with eyes wide open! Some of us have been around the block a few times, and know what we were getting ourselves into. Some pups don't have a clue, but push on through anyways, and most will deal with it, one way, or another. It don't mean we don't love our wives, but it don't mean we are naive either.

Yall are straight-up retards...

1) I was frustrated and worried that our case is over 140 days old.
2) I decided to post a thread in the PI regional, (was moved here), to find out if anyone else had/has waited that long.
3) Expected not to see very many people waiting as long, or longer than us.
4) Upon reading those responses became more irritated/sad.
5) Some guy responds with a smartass remark because he can't understand the obvious.
6) You swoop in to back-up your boyfriend.
7) I try one last time to simplify it.

No comment. Not stooping to your level, someone else already pointed out your lack of logic, and a mod already told you off. Just to let you know I'm not a dude, as you can see in my profile... wink.gif

Lol...i still can't believe that you don't understand the premise of my thread, and subsequent reaction to the responses...It's fascinating. Maybe you're struggling with the definitions of "wanting" and "expecting".
I will say that everyone BUT 2 posters contributed to the thread, by answering the original question.

Thanks, nothing makes someone homesick like being actually sick! The good news is Lars is quaratined with me, so we are spending a lot of.....time together. I can't do much but we have watched just about every movie that is here at his sisters house!

Wow, sorry to hear you're sick with H1N1!! I don't wanna hijack the thread but how much different does this "natural" strain of flu seem to differ from the regular? Is it a lot worse?

We talk about everything here, so no worries about hi-jackiing! I get a flu shot every year and avoid the flu as much as possible but in my opinion, I am much sicker here with this than I have been before. I have had it all, vomiting, nausea, body aches, sore throat, headache......the worst part is that I have NO energy at all. I can't take more than 4 or 5 steps then I have to lay down because I feel like I am going to pass out. I got sick when we lived in Sweden, some other strain of flu - a few years ago but in my opinion, this is probably the sickest I've been, ever.

YIKES!! I am being a whiney baby....sorry guys!

Wow, i hope you get better soon! I have never had a flu shot in my life. I do get the flu every year, but over time my body seems to have started recognizing the crafty little invaders. Now when i get whatever strain of it is popular at the time my body just kind of shrugs it off with a fever. I don't ever plan on taking ANY type of vaccination. The big Pharma companies that make the vaccines hold to much power over the ones that make the rules about who should take the vaccines!
Anyway, get well soon!

So yall were number 73 on the list when yall received the NOA2???

I was wanting to get a general idea of how much longer we may be waiting for our NOA2, by comparing our place on Igor's list (#162) to Odessa's place on the list before they got the NOA2 yesterday.....in other words, do the approvals flow numerically from the list, (1-2-3-4), or can a couple at #162 all of a sudden be bumped past everyone ahead of them, and get approved?

Holy sh*t. I've never been in this sub-forum before until i posted my "Vermont Service Center frustration" thread in the Philippine regional.
It got moved over here and now i see how many are still waiting for their NOA2's.
This thoroughly sucks now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTax issues & the K-1
Hi all, I used the search function but came up empty on my question. I am interested in using a K-1 visa for my filipina fiance, but i am in arrears with the IRS as i have not filed in a couple years, (long story).
I am currently in the process of having this situation taken care of, but it's going to take quite awhile. My question is, is this going to deny the K-1? I have been employed for almost 20 years, of which the last 2.5 have been with a good company as a self-employed contractor. Annually I make considerably more than is required for the K-1. I have no bank accounts, but i have every pay stub since 2006. I know i got myself into this problem, but I really hope there is another option that will speed this process up. Any suggestions/experience/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
