Yeah, I know it's always best to take in as much as you can to the interview because you never know. I was just wondering if the phone logs were fine or if I should take in some written logs, too. It just that as I told you in my last post we voice chat/video chat all the time, so if you read our logs, they seriously don't make any sense. LoL It's just like a few words here and there but not nearly enough to follow a simple conversation because we're actually TALKING and not TYPING. blush.gif I'll do what you said though and show both. I, too, took screen shots of him & I video chatting, & his family/my family are included in some shots, too. I'm going to take something of EVERYTHING that I have. I hope that will work. biggrin.gif Thank you SO MUCH, Pushbrk! biggrin.gif That was very kind of you to help! May God bless you! star_smile.gif innocent.gif star_smile.gif

You seem to know A LOT about this process from all the posts I've read in the past. I have a question for you, and I hope you could help me. Okay, we're not at the interview stage yet, but I have a lot of things ready to show on-going proof of our relationship. I save everything. The things I have saved so far are phone bills, photos of my fiance & I, photos with friends & family, flight itineraries, flight tickets, passport stamps, letters, e-mails, cards, train tickets, movie tickets, you name it..... well anyway among all these things I have saved, I wanted to ask you about our chat logs. See, we don't really chat on-line as we use voice/video chat all the time. I went ahead & took screen shots of our call logs on Skype. It shows the dates, times, and duration of all the calls we have ever made on there. I went ahead and took multiple screen shots of the call history log. Is this enough, or do they only accept chat logs where they can see actual words that we were typing? I think this should be just fine, but I just want to make sure so we can be on the safe side. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated! smile.gif Thanks! God bless! smile.gif

If you are filing the petition then you need to send proof of having met in the past 2 years so the itenaries, tickets and photos are alright. Proof of ongoing relationship will be required at the interview stage.

That is correct. Save most if not all for later at the interview but the only way to use MSN or Yahoo logs as evidence is to print screen and paste into Word etc. This preserves the formating. Copy and pasting text cannot be distiguished from simply typing up fake logs.

You can never tell what will be "enough". We included some examples of our written conversations but neither of us speaks the language of the other fluently, so those were a necessary part of our relationship and our evidence. I also took half a dozen screen shots while were were conversing on the webcam. Most included additional family members in the shots, such as holidays or other times the conversations included others.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it possible to keep the K-1 process a secret from my parents while I'm living with them?
Why on Earth would you want to keep it from them? You're gonna eventually marry this guy. I would just be open with them about it. It's not so bad once you get it out in the open. When I first told my parents about our relationship I thought they'd freak & take a while to accept it, but to my surprise... their initial reaction was the EXACT OPPOSITE! biggrin.gif They LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my fiance! They have been nothing but supportive of our relationship since they found out! biggrin.gif God bless them! biggrin.gif I know it seems difficult just thinking about HOW you should go about doing it, but once you get it out in the open... things will be sooooooooooooo much better! biggrin.gif I wish you the best of luck & ALL the happiness in the world! biggrin.gif God bless! biggrin.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched
Okay, I'm a newbie and I'm about to prove it. I got my NOA1 and went into the UCIS to set up the email notification, etc. The NOA1 was done/sent on 3/20/09, and there is an entry "last updated" of 3/25/09. Is this a "touched" that I see people talking about? Is there any way to see what exactly was done on that day, or just note it?

And here's the super newbie question of all - Is the fact that it was "touched" (assuming that's what it was) so soon after it was received a good thing, a bad thing, or a nothing?

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F at VSC? Notice how it's only CSC folks writing "OMG approved in 30 days?"
Everyone I've seen post on here is right in his/her own way (although some are much friendlier in their responses). I too am frustrated at VSC's recent trend in timelines and have said so. It's venting. It might not do anything for the process, but getting the feelings out can relieve some of the tension.

What I don't think should happen is this issue dividing us. VJ is intended to bring us together. We shouldn't see ourselves divided into CSC groups, VSC groups, recent filers, old-timers, and the like. We all share the same experience, just from different angles.

Most threads make me smile. This one, well.....

Hi, im new to this website/forum but feel lucky to have found it and be able to read what others are going thru [ helps to know you are not alone in dealing with the k-1 process ] Congrats on getting your approval.
My wonderful woman and i started the process in Jan'09, got the NOA reciept a few weeks later, have been waiting and now i had to apply for a waiver [ IMBRA ] due to the fact I had applied for 2 other k-1 visa's. the 1st resulted in a marriage that didnt last because she couldnt accept being a step mom, the other, i withdrew because i felt we werent right for each other. I am praying daily that this thing goes thru, since i have now found the "right one".
does anyone out there know how long it takes to get the waiver and after that, if approved, how long before we get the approval? I already contacted the embassy where she lives and they said after they get it, it takes about 6 weeks to complete. the waiting is driving us both nuts, because we have been going thru this for a year[ long story short, she wanted to try to come to the US on another type of visa and i convinced her finally that the k-1 is the way to go- but it took me 6 months to do it ] any info would be appreciated. thanks

My friend entered the US on a K-1 to get married - the relation soured. He saw his old girlfriend who now lives in the states. They used to date back in his country. They are now talking about getting married before his I-94 expires (90 days) and he needs to leave the US. I told him that on the K-1 he needs to marry the person who petioned for him or leave within 90 days. He said that his old girlf friend spoke to a lawyer and that it could be done if they can prove it is a bonafied relationship. I told him I don't think it is possible. Any help would be appreciated. Also I was looking for other treads on this topic but didn't locate any.

What kind of help are you looking for, for whom and for what purpose? There is no help for him, as his plan won't work. He can marry but not adjust status. I can't imagine what immigration help you would need. Do you think if you prove he won't be successful that he'll still marry you? Is THAT what you want?

I'm not looking to marry him. He called me telling me that he is now at his exgirlfriends and that this is what he is going to do. As his friend, I think he is heading down a pathway that will create lots of trouble. A lawyer tells him he can do it. I tell him I don't think such a loophole exists. I'd like to give him some info based on fact so that he can make a decision. I'm asking has anyone ever heard if this is possible? I'm asking if there is any info that tells him it isn't possible.

sounds like that lawyer just wants his money. tell him to talk to an immigration attorney. they will tell him that it wont work, he will be illegal and if found deported and have to wait a number of years before even being able to try to enter the US again. this info can easily be found online. if he came on a K1, he has to marry the original petitioner or go home. if he tries to stay, eventually it will catch up to him since he has to work or get money somehow. where's he from anyway?

QUOTE (rebeccajo @ May 13 2009, 06:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
How did you find out about Mr. Lolly? From an ad on a website?

That's no way to pick a lawyer.

If you are really interested in finding a qualified attorney who specializes in family based immigration, go to AILA.com.

Read here: http://www.ailalawye...geId=english#17.

At least the members of AILA are immigration specialists. That alone does not make them right for the job. Interview your attorney. Ask about their success rate; what their policy is for returning your phone calls and who will answer them; ask if they will oversee the completion of your paperwork or if their assistant does; ask about the credentials of their assistants; ask about their credentials; ask if they have ever served in any capacity in the State Department or US Attorneys offices or have contacts within; ask if they have contacts within your Service Center or your Consulate.

You can use a lawyer, which will cost you more, alot more and add waiting time- remember they have more cases and things to do besides yours or you could try to do it yourself, follow directions and save time and money. of course you have to follow directions well, so there are no mistakes, but lawyers make those too. sounds like you just want to pay someone to do it for you and just sit back and wait. thats fine - if thats what you want to do and dont mind the cost. i've done it both ways and i prefer doing it myself. i've already saved $1500 and probably 2 months. if you did it yourself- there are enough people on here[ VJ ] that could advise you for free- whatever your decision - good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmarriage or fiancé visa?
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ May 4 2009, 05:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If you are in the US and entered with no intent of getting married when you entered, you can stay and apply to adjust status from within the US. When you apply for AOS you also apply for EAD (employment authorization document). The EAD will take about 90 days to be approved and you are not allowed to work without it. As well, you would not be elligible for a SSN until you have the EAD so that would add another week or so to the time that you would not be allowed to work.

If you file for a K-1 visa, you would enter the US after receiving the K-1 and be able to get a SSN in about 2 weeks. However, you are still not able to work as you would require the EAD, and you can't get the EAD until you file for AOS and the EAD at the same time. Again, it would take about 90 days to come in. You cannot file for AOS until you are married.

If you get married and return to Canada for the CRI, you would remain in Canada (visits are allowed) during the processing but you would receive your green card when you crossed the border. Then you would just need to wait about 2 weeks so your information is in the computer system and you can apply for a SSN and go to work.

So, a wait will be required before you can work regardless of whatever process you use. If you need to work, you can work in Canada while waiting for the K-1 or the CR-1 (depending on whether or not you get married first). With the K-1 you would still have about 3 months unemployed in the US before you could work. With the CR-1 you would be eligible to work almost right away.

Those are your options.

I dont mean to contradict but i was married b4 to someone on a K-1 and they got their ssan number within a few weeks of arrival and was working sooner than 90 days legally. i cant remember exact dates but im sure it all happened b4 90 days. so unless things have changed or are different based on region, you might want to double check on that info. just to be sure you know

Ok first is the reciept (N0A1), thats where I am at. Then you get the approval or an RFE, the approval is N0A2. After my packet reaches Manila, is my fiancee sent a Packet 3? I am hearing mixed things that this doesnt exsist anymore. So basicly, anyone that has recently done this, can you tell me what happens/should happen after the embassy recieves the petition approval etc.?

In most cases does it only take 6-8 months from start to POE for the philippines, even with RFE?

Thnx

why were you worried? to think of it you just filed last March? if you think you didnt have enough on your papers in the petition and you had pass your adjuticating time frame without your NOA2 then i guess you start to worry.

Right now theres no reason to get worried. Sit back and relax

CENOMAR (Dated April)
Getting the NBI Clearance here in MAY.

Now the thing im worried on is the dates, seeing as we didnt get the NOA 2 yet, and the interview could be around August-Sept-Oct. Would all these still be valid or will they require we have the documents have a date closer to interview?

Were just trying to stay ahead of the game, has anyone else done this.. had problems/ had no problems?

Thx..

The easier part is most definitely the part where the petitioner gathers everything together, writes the check [$455.00] and mails it off. Once you are issued your Notice of Approval, it becomes a bit more stressful -- Your fiance will be sent a packet with instructions and she will have her own papers to fill out and things to collect, such as a police report from Thailand and any other country she's lived in for more than a year past the age of 16, if any. From there, she'll have a medical appointment and then an interview, where they will ask about your relationship. For details regarding that, go here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/ and select the appropriate consular country from the left-most drop down menu. smile.gif

As for how long it takes to get an interview... it really varies. For some people, that comes within 3 or 4 months. Others aren't so lucky, waiting 7 months or more. And then there are those who have been waiting over a year [or more!] to begin the consular part of the journey. So.. you just have to hope for the best. Unfortunately, the system isn't the greatest, so you're going to have to hope that luck is on your side.

That said, I wish you the best of luck on the journey, and please remember that VJ has many, many guides at your disposal, all of which are quite helpful and will definitely answer a lot of questions.

Down the road, would you recommend me being there with her at the interview

They wont let you in to the interview in Thailand. Best you can do is give her your passport to show them you are in country. If you have to gather more evidence, you have wasted a plane ticket.

This is kinda your call. I wasn't there for my wife's interview, but that had nothing to do with them telling her to come back with more info. She had to go back twice to submit more evidence. I was there when she went back, and was allowed inside, although I didn't talk to anyone, I made sure they knew I was there. You can see my review here:

http://www.visajourn...p?cnty=Thailand

They only seem to give married people a hard time.

I would recommand you to check with your work to see if you can keep your security clearance and you Job after she comes here, then I would worry about how long it would take, trust me is a long time, longer that you think. - in some cases you might have to apply for security clearance .

Application Verification fee? I was looking at a form that said something about this, you have to do some like james bond type text msg after you pay it? How much is this, does anyone know?

Right now the fees I am aware of (thanks to yall and the internet):

K1 Visa Application fee $ 131
Medical Exam fee 213
Document Verification fee ???

I already know about transportation to from manila, copying etc and required costs for that obviously.

Just found out document Verification fee is P650 +P50 so P700 total.. about $15 bucks..

There isn't any document verification anymore. However benes are required to get NSO CENOMAR.

Whats the process and cost for the NSO CENOMAR?

Ok I need to know what I need to do with this issue:
My fiancee has moved from the address I had put as her current on the K1 petition, we are currently at the noa1 stage. Do I wait and not do anything until we get further in the stage, or who do I call to change this address on this? I am half way expecting an RFE, if I do get this can i include a new petition with her new current address on it? She had no way of getting her mail if it goes to the address that is on the petition now.

Please help me, I need suggestions & instructions on what I should do- who I should call!

Hello Justin,
I am in a similar situation: we are in the NOA1 stage and I have to move soon here in Spain. My fiance Bill called yesterday the USCIS to ask about that and they said, that he shoud send them a letter with my new address (you can put the number of your case to make things easier for them).
Best regrds,
Maria

Does there need to be any certain form I should fill out to send with it, or I just type it out and send it? Hmmm... any certian format? (does anyone have example letter maybe)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNA02 Sent, I got laid off:((((
Hurry and find a new job

My belle was working at one place when we started the process, and by the time the NOA2 came she had quit that job and was working at a new place. It never was an issue, they didn't even inquire about it.

But ya, don't lie and try to use these documents to convince them that you are employed when you no longer are. You could get away with it, but get caught and be ready for PAIN.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Process - Will these facts help??
Hi, Duv! Glad that you're here on VisaJourney as you begin the K-1 visa process.

I believe that yes, those details you discussed will help you. smile.gif

Someone who's done this a little bit more recently than I have can verify this for you, but when you file your I-129F, I think that you're supposed to include an "affadavit regarding marriage." It's just a one page "blurb" about how you, (your name), plan on marrying your fiancee, (her name), within 90 days of his/her entering the U.S., and that the two you have a legitimate relationship, which began (fill in the details of your relationship). The last part--the details about your relationship--is where those details you discussed could go.

Cheers,
Daniela

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust engaged
What kind of deposit would you have to put down to book a date at your venue of choice? If it's nothing (unlikely) or not a lot of money, then you could condier it. You can always change the date or cancel.

On another note, it seems like asking you about the details of your wedding only one week after you've been engaged can be really overwhelming. I understand that your family is trying to help and is excited for you. My advice would be, try not to get too wrapped up in wedding planning right away--you and your fiance are still celebrating your engagement! smile.gif If you have questions, your VJ community will be happy to help you answer questions about submitting your I-129F.

Hey guys, does anyone know how to print skype logs cos i've searched and I have no idea. Thanks

why do you want this? what evidentiary requirement are you wishing to fulfill?

Evidence of communication. Recently we've been using skype and I was worried cos we hardly send mails anyone and our phone bills is a lot less. Skype is so convenient. We will be filing soon, I want to make sure we have enough evidence. Or what do you think? Cheers

Thanks a lot. You guys are the best good.gif Cheers.

evidence of communication does not fulfill the "meeting" evidence and therefore is not required evidence for the I-129f. This can be submitted as optional evidence but is most important come interview time.

Ok! we will prepare photocopy of the passport pages with immigration stamps and photographs ad evidence of meeting. Is that Ok.

Well passport stamps is one of the primary evidence types they are looking for.... photographs are secondary evidence that supports the primary... a million times better for the evidence of meeting requirement than chat logs...

Flight itineraries and/or old boarding passes are also good.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to track K-1 visa?
QUOTE (mike-licun @ Apr 25 2009, 12:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiancee and I recently sent in the paperwork for our K-1 visa, does anyone know how to track the process?? And how long does it usually take for them to send word if it has been accepted?

Don't get too discouraged if you don't see an update on the progress of your case on the USCIS website. Many VJ members, including myself, did not receive an update on our I-129f case status via the USCIS online case status system. Usually, it takes about about 3-4 weeks to get the NOA1 notice and 4-5 months for the NOA2 notice.

The process will seem incredibly slow and frustrating at first but once you get past the NOA2 stage things start to go faster.
