K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Got RFE for "divorce decree" but I already included it	And here is the divorce decree with my personal info blacked out: Hey Hiker, don't know if anyone else pointed this out, but that document alludes to another document that is the actual decree. "I, Tara E. DeCristofar, ...... certify that, a Judgement of Divorce Nisi was entered by the Court in the above mentioned case for cause which is fully set forth in the decree on file in the Court." Which to me would seem like there is an actual "Decree" that you could also provide. Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, I've sort of skimmed this topic. I live in Texas so herp derp I send it to the Texas service center! I mean if I had finished my petition a couple weeks earlier I could have hand delivered the thing since I was working in Dallas. That was last week Tuesday. Then FINALLY I get this email: Do_Not_Reply_Lockbox@dhs.gov to me show details 12:33 AM (21 hours ago) Dear Applicant/Petitioner: Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the Vermont Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number [CENSORED]. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your application using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status. This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your application/petition. I don't remember much about this situation anymore. It asks for an A#. I don't have that. We did have an interview and he did receive his green card. How should I answer these questions? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	faxed or scan signature?	Letters of intent need to be signed (original signatures), preferably in blue ink so that you don't get an RFE for a mistaken photocopied signature. Even the cover letter should be signed by both parties in original signatures. Al It never occurred to me to have my then-fiance sign the cover letter, esp since I was the petitioner & not him. Wasn't an issue. One more thing: An RFE is not the end of the world or anything and shouldn't delay things too much. Put it this way, if getting the original signature will delay sending your application for a week or more, you're not risking much by scanning it. If you do get an RFE just have your fiance send the document directly to the service center from abroad. I would add that an RFE would add more than a week. They issue the RFE, then mail it, then it gets to you, you do what it says, mail it back (with the RFE letter inside), it has to get to them, be received AND processed. But if the mail from the OP's fiance to the OP would take a week or more to get to him, he may as well file it with a scanned/faxed signature. Meanwhile, have her mail him the original signature. In about two years we'll go back and have another ceremony in the Philippines. This allows her family to see us get married. I think they are doing this on purpose, and the purpose is good. 1) For people that did not spend enough time together it allows to test their feelings. 2) For fraudulent applications it allows to weed-out fraud. 3) For people that know each other well it allows to think about their relationship and teach TO APPRECIATE EACH OTHER! This is true for my case. I learned how much I appreciate my fiancee. We will not waste our lives arguing. We will enjoy every second together! In either case this is good! If I remember correctly, it would most likely delay the process. I think in previous shutdowns that visa processing stopped, but I'm not positive. However, congress is again working on another stopgap bill so it's possible that there won't be a shutdown. Why not have an expedite service fee? I don't know. Interesting idea. Those who are not getting theirs are of course voicing their opinions the loudest so it gets distorted. I've been here for 2 months and some change now, but I'm not sure I would report that I got mine - I think I'd be too happy and would just want to move on. Maybe this is mostly a West Coast site After sitting here and watching the lack of progress in Vermont, I know I'm going to report when I get my NOA2. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	K-1 and Honeymoon!	You are in Salt Lake and she is from the Dominican Republic.... I would rule out locations like Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands and try to take her someplace unique for her... I would consider Crater Lake if you are going in the summer. Extremely beautiful and unique - clearest water in the world, you can go on a boat cruise in the crater - if you take highway 8 (if I remember right) there are some amazing hikes that are very easy through old growth forests and dozens of really nice waterfalls... And if you drive you can go down through California through the redwood forest to San Fran.. Other ideas if not in the summer: Do a drive from San Antonio (take the river ride to the mall, very cool, and of course a quick visit to the Alamo) to Galveston. Galveston was very interesting when I visited last but I understand the last Hurricane did a number on it.. On The drive down there is the Kennedy Space Center, worth it for the Saturn Rocket alone and you can go along the texas coast - Corpis Cristi, Mustang Island, etc... Anyway I am sure she will be happy wherever you visit I'm biased but I love San Antonio. Lots of touristy things to do and also nice hotels on the riverwalk. Edited by B_J, 06 April 2011 - 01:13 PM. But we apply once and the petition and was denied 6 months later saying that we did not send all the documents. This time we don’t want to make any mistake so if someone can take the time to write one by one what exactly we have to send with the application I will be very grateful. Thank you so much! I got kinda excited after last week,and Monday seemed to show good progress. It seems to have slowed to a crawl again. I was curious if anyone has gotten any activity the last couple of days. I had a 4 ibuprofen headache yesterday from the process and I am sure that I am not alone! As my fiance said to me. They worked really hard last week; so they need to rest this week. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	K-1 Visa: Should I bother?	Thanks for all the input, everyone. I guess we'll just wait and do the CR-1. Better to be more financially prepared and have a slam-dunk case, I suppose. There is always a lot of confusion on here regarding proof of meeting vs. proof of a relationship. I'm not an expert at all; but there are some on here. I think you need to prove meeting for your initial I-129f petition, and that's where you're weak in evidence. It's easier to prove the relationship, but that's later on once you're past Vermont or California. I think you're being smart choosing the CR-1. You'll have time to research and know what you'll need; plus the time to prepare financially is a HUGE bonus. And, I believe Cr-1 is a bit cheaper. That's all the info I have. Good luck.
