Well Kim, it could be all that international travel and "living" here that Russ did that they are sorting out. You never know what they have on you they need to verify. They're probably counting on their fingers and toes to see how many days he was here, and here again before they realize he didn't overstay on any one time. If somebody starts talking, they lose count and have to start over. Who knows? It's going to happen, there's no doubt, but soon would be good. good.gif

Hi Ana,

Wow it's time to move already. I love it! All our people made it through the Visa Journey and are moving on. We still have a few to go, but not many. Bex is having a big wedding in two weeks. I hope she shows us a picture. Nick arrives Sept 30 and I'm trying to put something together for a little marriage ceremony/party for about a dozen people on Oct. 5 at a friend's house. LOL, I'm giving him just 5 days after arriving so he doesn't have a chance to back out. laughing.gif

I would like to hear from Tuty and how things are going with her. Do you remember the map I made showing where everybody lived? The hurricane Gustav just hit the town where Donnie lives this morning. We've been watching it progress here because there is always a threat that it could land anywhere. I hope he doesn't have any wind damage or flooding to report.

Have a good flight Ana star_smile.gif

Justin!!! Good to hear from you. I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how things were going. That's so good you were able to send the P3 back so quickly...keep the timeline moving forward. So do you have a better estimate of when Danielle will move here? How long do they take to give an interview after you send in your things? I think I have a wedding date now. Wow, how did we get here so fast??? rofl.gif I've forgotten all that angst of waiting on the NOA2. That reminds me, I could put a POE date into my timeline now since Nick has booked a plane ticket.

star_smile.gif Well congratulations to you two and keep us posted on when she has the interview.

It is so good to see you. I looked at your timeline and you're already in the US!
Wow. kicking.gif Big congratulations to you.

Hi John-- you can call the DOS on Monday and they will know your appointment date/time so you don't have to wait on the snail mail. You will need the appointment letter to get in the Embassy, so don't leave it in America. (202) 663-1225, press 1, then 0.
Is your timeline under a different email address? I messed mine up when I started it because I logged in under my other email and ended up with two. Capt Ewok straightened it out for me.

Hey Jessica~~Glad you dropped in and gave an update. Just a week and a half now 'til interview. So very close to that visa in hand!! You must be really swamped with moving overseas yourself, starting a new job, apartment shopping and finalizing docs for Lute. Hang in there girl.

star_smile.gif And my exciting news of the day.star_smile.gif
Nick has finally booked his ticket to America. He's coming Sept 30, so finally I have a real date to count down to. I'm thinking about marriage on October 5. That's halfway between our birthdays, so we thought that might be nice....another 5th of the month to celebrate. If that's going to be it, then I need to plan a little Sunday afternoon party or something. The courthouse is closed, but I know 3 county judges personally and wouldn't mind asking one of them for a little time that afternoon. Now where will it be? Hmmm....well it's a start and something to think about now that I know when he will arrive. Yippeeee. I am so happy and it's starting to feel even more REAL.

Hi everybody. Yes, this is the sad little thread that everybody has abandoned. Well, it's nice in a way because everybody has moved ahead in the process. Most are approved, some have moved, some are planning interviews soon. It's actually pretty exciting. I've been around long enough that I've picked up on some commonalities among the month-of-filing threads. See if you don't agree---

The group that's about a month from being approved: All are whining, checking USCIS obsessively, hating their service center.

The group that's getting NOA2s right now: Lots of congrats and good lucks, and panic because they have no clue what to do next. They should have been getting the next set of documents ready all that time they were stressing over the wait.

The group that had NOA2s over a month ago: Everybody drops out because they have to do their thing for the interview, moving, wedding, etc.

But it's nice to find somebody has dropped in on our former whining, then dancing thread to keep in touch.

I'm home from my last visit to the UK for awhile. We still talk on the phone 3-4 times a day. (Thanks Vonage!) Nick is doing a little bit of organizing and throwing out, but still is working so can't get it done but in bits and pieces. And there's several things he said he would do for a friend, his former boss and his mum. So he's got a lot on his plate right now. He's holding up well considering there's so much to do and not that much time.

I've seen my daughters twice in the last week. The youngest one moved into her new house and we've been looking at furniture. I've been hanging out with my friends and generally wasting time. And I've watched some of the Olympic coverage. We still don't have a plan for a wedding. I've downloaded and started looking at AOS documents. I need to start filling those out and reading the AOS forum to get up to speed, so as soon as we are married, we can send the paperwork off asap. Maybe we'll join up again someday in an AOS thread. LOL. That will be fun.

I'm really excited how all of you are moving along and taking care of business. I know you're still in another waiting mode Justin, but at least you're checking on it and not letting too much time get away from you. And Ana is just waiting around for that interview. And Bex is the pampered princess of Georgia getting all that attention. Happy Birthday. You have to send me a picture of your wedding. I want to see you! Go to the basement more often and report on every detail of the wedding plans. I love wedding plans...except my own. LOL. When is Alina's wedding? I forgot. Report in again lovely.

Bye for now everybody. Enjoy your day. smile.gif

Waiting on the Packet 3 from Montreal is almost as nerve-wracking as the NOA2 smile.gif

I've sent her all my documents and she's got everything in order except her medical in Halifax and her passport photos (5 right?).
Here's to hoping it comes this week and she can send it back right away.

Hi Justin-- smile.gif

Well, I bet you get it soon. I don't know much about Montreal or how long they take, but probably it won't be 111 days like your timeline says NOA2 was. Yeah, this whole process is wait, wait, and wait some more. But each wait is shorter. I was so anxious waiting for the courier to bring the passport and visa. It took 7 days. Geez, I must have used up all my patience during the NOA2 black hole of waiting. What's 7 days??? I think the closer you get, you think it should be faster.

I suppose your packet 3 will say how many photos or maybe a Montreal Embassy website. Google "US Embassy Montreal". London says 3 photos, but actually two are for the interview and the 3rd is for the medical people to stick on the medical report. Something I've never seen posted before that we realized in London is they take one of the photos and put it under a little camera thing and take a digital picture of the photo. Then the visa is a printout that has the photo printed on it. It's a whole passport page in size and looks a little like the photo/name page in a passport. It was glued on covering a whole page. It's kind of a blurry inkjet looking print out. Not that great of resolution. Canada may have a better printer LOL.

Good luck with everything. It won't be long. Yeah, right! Anything is too long, huh?

Hi Stevi---

Good to see you! Looks like you're making good progress. I guess you're waiting on P3 to be delivered to your fiance. I have a whole packet 3 from London scanned that I can share with you and him if you send me email addresses in a PM. Then save them to your computer, or print and use them. There's alot of pages because it includes the medical info too. It's more than can be posted on VJ so it's on MSN Sky Drive and I have to put in your email address to allow you access. Good luck on finishing up the process soon.

And YES, we are all hoping for Kim's approval this week. Please VSC!!

Hey March~

Mommy Nic has made it back over the pond to Texas. Yesterday was a long day, but my 2 cats welcomed me home with furry arms. I had a great time and it was fun to be able to go to the Embassy and see the visa and share the experience.

Ana, you are going so soon! Are you going crazy getting it all organized? That must be hard getting all your interview things and things you're going on to America with lined out. Good luck sweetheart.

Alina, maybe the friend wasn't really trash talking you. Maybe she was just explaining the process...you know.. that you get to stay, but have a time limit for the marriage to meet all the requirements. My friends want to know how it works since most people aren't familiar with the process or how much red tape you have to go through to immigrate. She was probably happy for you and wanted to share the news. Give her another chance and don't get upset by it.

Kim, darn it, I want you to get that approval so bad!!!! You're doing a good job of being positive. VSC is kinda all over the place lately datewise. Can you believe CSC has some mid-April approvals?? The time frame just ebbs and flows so much that you can't base your plan on what's happening to people getting approvals around the time you file. It could be shorter or longer. When we filed, I was looking at those people celebrating NOA2s in 18-20 days. Geez! Didn't happen like that for us and made the wait seem like an eternity.

Well I should go unpack or maybe take a nap. I'm still on British time and got up at 2:30 am. I needed a much longer sleep because yesterday was about a 22 hour day by the time I went to bed. Then I only slept 3-4 hours??? Stupid!

Oh I know there's reams of paperwork to go, but the VISA part is done and in hand. kicking.gif kicking.gif Yes, the SMS courier finally arrived around 4:20 Tuesday. They promised between 1:00 and 3:00 after they failed to deliver Monday. But that didn't quite happen either. I still have to wait on Nick to come (sometime in October), but at least that's now in our hands to decide and not in the black hole of the visa processing system.

Tuty, fake it at your interview like you have every single document. Look confident and act like you are expecting a visa. If they notice to ask for the other police thing just tell them you can't possibly get that and you've lived a clean life in Israel x -number of years and that should do nicely for their requirements. No groveling or tears.

Hey there Mrs SDP--Good news that things are working out for you. You're probably lucky that you ended up in Dallas because Texans are really nice people. biggrin.gif

And it's always nice to get an update from you BEX. Nick won't be coming until October. He's going to give his 4 weeks notice at work as soon as the visa is in his hand. That is supposed to be today from 1:00-3:00. The SMS courier people said their computer system was down last Tuesday at the Embassy. I'm not sure what that affects, but he got a hand written receipt that wasn't in the most readable handwriting. The reference number was just the date 290708 which isn't a real reference number they tell me. I don't know what you got from them...was it a printout from the computer? Anyway, no text messages from them. I called Monday to ask if they had us in their system and they said yes, it was scheduled for delivery that day between 8:00 and 6:00. So I just sat here all day waiting. Just before 6, I called again to ask if it was still going to be delivered. The guy apparently got his morning deliveries done and then broke down so it would be Tuesday. ARRGH!! So they said if I would call today at 8 am they would tell me a delivery time so I wouldn't have to spend another 10 hours stuck at the house. We'll see how it goes.... whistling.gif

Have you driven yet? I thought your UK license was good for a year, but maybe that's a Texas rule we looked up. I've been driving! My first time in the UK. Nick sold his good cars and then bought an old £500 Nissan to do until he leaves. He put me on the insurance and I drove all the way home from Heathrow. Roundabouts are frightening places. I'm going over to the Garden Center this morning to browse around. It's about all there is close by with only one roundabout to negotiate. They have a big antiques area that's fun to poke around in. And there's cute gift areas too. Sorry you're homesick, but that's to be expected. You need to buy a car and go to Target or Walmart. Did you do a gift registry at Target? Go do that and sign up for some nice stuff. I bought Nick a car as his birthday surprise, so he's all set to be mobile the day he arrives. He was chuffed.

I've been watching hurricane (or tropical storm) Edouard on the internet because it's hitting my hometown. Well it has moved a bit. Yesterday it's predicted path was straight over my area. Today it's line has shifted toward Lousiana some, but we are still in the warning area. Maybe the next report will shift it even further away. I'm just left of the big chunk out of the coastline (Galveston Bay) as seen in this map...
http://www.nhc.noaa....?large#contents
Edouard is not very big, so shouldn't be a problem.

Take care all!

Oh Tuty. I was thinking about you today and wondering what's going on with you. We went to the Isle of Man for the weekend. We had hours in the car and hours on a ferry boat and part of that time today I was planning to PM you and say come back and see us. I'm glad you're going to go to the interview and see where you stand. Maybe just ignore the other police report and see if they miss it. Or tell them you can't get one because of not having an id. You're been gone from there for ages. I hope they say, no problem...here's a visa. yes.gif

We don't have the passport or brown envelope back yet. It comes by courier. But I called the Dept of State Friday and they said the visa was issued Thursday.

This is indeed a waiting game.

Bex--good to hear from you. I'm so glad you're excited about the wedding plans now. I want to see pictures when the time comes.

Can you believe you're already at that point? This sure was a short process. rofl.gif (I think I should go back and read the sad, frustrated posts from 2-3 months ago when it was a l-o-n-g process)

I'm pouring champagne for all of you and we are having a party (in my mind).

The interview was a mere formality with no drama...just the waiting in line, waiting in that crowded room, etc. as most everyone else has reported about London. They let me go inside the Embassy with no problems. There was the usual mix of questions and it was more of a conversation. How did you meet? What does she do? When did it get romantic between you two? (since we were friends for years) What are your plans for a wedding?

I asked Nick if that about sums it up and he said "apart from that stupid little woman at window #1 who seemed oblivious of the fact that I couldn't hear a word she was saying and had to keep asking her to repeat everything." He thought the young man at window #16 was very pleasant.

Note: Anyone going to London, if you find a very large clip on the vertical blinds by the fan, it's mine. I was getting annoyed at the buzzing sound made by those blinds being sucked into the industrial sized fan, so being Mommy Nic, I had to fix it. rofl.gif

Oh yes, and I finally found ice cold Diet Coke in England.....at the AMERICAN Embassy. laughing.gif There was also an interesting mix of American candy bars and British crisps (that's chips.)

We were worn out by the time we got home because we walked to the Embassy, then back to the hotel to retrieve our phones, camera, etc, then to the Buckingham Palace inside tour (lovely), then Hard Rock to eat, then back to hotel to retrieve luggage, then to the bus...mucho walking and my feet were beginning to complain loudly to my uncomfortable shoes. Good night all!

And roundabouts...dangerous!! But I drove my very first time in the UK on Saturday. I drove all the way home from Heathrow, and we made it. good.gif US and UK are both great, but different, so try not to get homesick when you can't find your Heinz beans and marmite. LOL. Jessica, you can track your package from NVC to Bangkok. I just posted that in the April 08 Vermont thread earlier today so look for it there. Also posted all that NVC calling stuff recently in the March CSC thread. Man, I haven't even been taking care of my own people. Sorry John. Also see in the March CSC thread I posted about calling the Dept of State, which would be good info for you to print or save. It should be near the last pages of the thread. Probably easier to find by clicking the dropdown by my name in this post and choosing "find recent posts". I don't have time to repost anything or I won't be packed. Just taking a little lunch break.

We mailed in the I-751 packet on 12/21/13, and the Biometrics interview is already scheduled for 1/21/14!
Problem is Fátima is already in Spain visiting her elderly parents and won't be back to Portland, OR, USA until mid-February.
I can send in the request to re-schedule the interview, but what if the re-scheduled date is still before she returns?
Can I request it to be re-scheduled more than once?

Thanks!

Tell them Fatima is out of the country and can not attend a biometic appointment until [date]. Why make them guess when she can attend? Tell them her availability.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-571 questions (part 4)
Since nobody is answering, I will give an opinion. I would list all children and step-children. The birth certificate you use would be one that lists each of your names as the parents to be the best evidence. If you have good evidence, then I wouldn't bother with affidavits from friends/family. That seems kinda weak to me. Of course your friends and family would say good things, but other hard evidence on paper is more important.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBack Again
I make a photocopy of every single thing I send off to Immigration including the check and in the same order just so I know exactly what I sent in case of RFE.

Not really going to critique your list because I am not following some of it, but only say BOTH names on the same document is best proof. Your list doesn't indicate, for example, if the rent car has both names. Otherwise make a connection they easily see. Example--an electric bill in your name to address 2 matched with a water bill in the spouses name to address 2. Connect the dots for them. Random things in one name only are not as useful.

Yea all of what I mentioned covers 2 years.  I guess I can add some more bank statements. The tuition bill shows the address and I guess I will send a letter from my school to show that both schools send mail to the same place. His Id is in this address but my ID is in my old one. I guess I should update that but I dont think the DMV will do it without a valid g/c (Mine expires and the ID has an expiration date that corresponds with my G/c expiration)

I want to make sure my evidence is specific but I dont see us having a problem to be honest. I think our baby is the best evidence that we have of a true and genuine relationship,

Thanks. Ill update.

Yes, baby is great evidence. If you have covered two years, then that should do it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBack Again
They want to see a sampling of two years of mingling finances and lives. One current bank statement isn't enough. Go back to 2012 and 2013 and find dated things showing both your names....bank statements, joint credit cards, joint car insurance and the like. A current electric bill could be supplemented with one for last year and the year before. Get the idea?? Cover two years with dated documentation.

Copies of driver licenses showing the same address are good evidence too.

They do not need an affidavit of support...as in a letter from hubby's work. And not sure how his tuition bill proves you live at the same address and mix your money.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLooking for general advice with upcoming ROC

Can you please tell me what docs you have submmitted? I have lack documents too of joint accounts.

Most importantly, I had saved anything that had both names for two years so there was evidence that covered date from marriage up until ROC. Even if it wasn't prime evidence, it covered the span well.  I think the ones who didn't plan ahead have a harder time because they may have thrown things away.

  • Joint bank documents

-First joint account--opening and closing documents.(No statements because it wasn't my main money account and had little activity)

-Welcome letter from new bank (we moved to a new town and changed banks)

-Joint checking statements (4) First page only

-Joint money market statements (2)  (earliest and latest)

-Joint savings account (1) (earliest)

-Thumbnails of checks we wrote showing we both used the account. Those are in the bank statements, so I picked three months where we both happened to write checks.

  • Legal document from sale of my house that described him as my husband. He had to sign that one page, I guess because he lived there, not because he was joint owner.
  • Photocopy of credit cards that showed same account number. Each had card in their name.  (He was not a joint owner of the account so a statement would prove nothing.  So I photocopied the cards...Visa, Mastercard, Macy's.)
  • Joint tax transcripts (2)
  • Joint automobile items

-Invoice for purchase of new vehicle. Had both names

-Car titles for two autos. Joint owners

-Auto insurance cards (3) (spanning over 2 years)

-Photocopy of each driver licenses showing same address (old address and current address)

  • Trips taken together (boarding passes showing we sat side by side) England & Arkansas
  • Miscellaneous items with both names

-Statement from dentist office when we went the same day

-Cat rabies certificate

-Membership cards from a community class thing we did

-Invitation to brunch

-Photo Christmas cards we sent (2 different years)

-"We're Moving" printed postcard we sent out with new address.

  • Many photos taken together on holidays, with family, trips, and working on our house. (Printed on plain paper and sized down to get  6-8 on a page. Included dates, place and people in photo) Three photo pages.

Even though the evidence was nowhere near the great things many people have and some of it was almost silly,  I think it showed a picture of a real couple who adopts a cat together, sends Christmas cards, goes to the dentist together, hangs out with friends, owns cars, writes checks, and has credit.

And if anybody is wondering, I finally got around to deeding him half the house, but well after we were done with USCIS forever (naturalization). It just took awhile to get around to it because it involves legal mumbo jumbo and filing with the county.

Mail it when you get back.

Evidence comment--
Our new mortgage and house were solely in my name. Utilities were in my name. No joint health insurance. He was not beneficiary to my 401k. No children. Different last names. Yet he still passed ROC without a hitch. So it is quite possible with what you have to be approved. You have the golden ticket in my opinion...a child together.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFiling I-751 with a Waiver - Tax return Issues
My understanding of removing conditions is proving "jointness" with documentation. A joint tax return is just another piece of evidence like a joint bank account, joint lease, etc. You don't have that joint tax return to beef up your pile of evidence of a good faith marriage. So send what you do have. A tax return is not a requirement. It is simply evidence most people have. You don't.

I have a few questions--

Did you earn no income since you have been here? You may need to file your own return if she did not include you. This a an IRS issue and not for the I-751. You will have issues if you file for citizenship in 3 more years because they want to know if you ever failed to pay Income Tax. So figure out if you earned enough to file.

Are you serious that her Dad "won't let her" file a proper tax return? Is she a captive slave or a grown woman?

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioni-751 Evidence for joint petition
Mine was only four bank statements I think and only the front page showing joint names but not every transaction. Plus about three different pages that showed thumbnails of checks because they showed the same people getting paid, but sometimes I wrote the check and sometimes he did. (Planned for immigration)

Only the front page of the tax transcripts to show joint filing.

Quite a few smallish photos just popped Into a Word document collage style and printed on plain paper that I chose based on different lengths of hair to show different time scale, holidays with family, and some looking not fixed up and posed but just everyday folks working around the house. I got a 10 year old neighbor boy to snap the last photo with my husband up a ladder putting up Christmas lights on our house and me holding the ladder. I thought everyday casual made us look like a real couple.

Because of the lack of the suggested things, I had to get creative with other things and had purposely saved two photo Christmas cards we had sent out, and a "We've Moved" postcard card with our new address.

It worked out keeping it concise with a sampling of items. Plus I wrote notes in red Sharpie at the bottom of each photocopied page what I was showing. "Driver licenses at old and new address"; "Check thumbnails showing we both use the account"; "Dentist statement showing our next appointments at the bottom" (who would go to the dentist together if they weren't real?)

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioni-751 Evidence for joint petition

lol no.

I think i've stressed myself out reading the various blog sites about those minimal cases that seem to go wrong despite a good file being created.

I'm an attorney myself so i'm super organized and just want to get this done with as little issues as possible.

If it makes you feel better, we had--
No joint lease or house deed
No joint utilities
No beneficiary status on health insurance, life insurance, wills, IRA, etc
No children together
No affidavits from friends/family
And I kept my former married name instead of changing to new husband's name.

So I guess they could just tell we were swell folks and didn't bother with asking for more. But I know what you mean about people who list pages of stuff and then have an RFE. I don't get it. Maybe they send so much stuff, the adjudicators can't find the important things.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics form (re: application numbers)

Thanks for the replies.  It makes sense they scan the barcodes; since it was (obviously) a couple of years since I last went I couldn't remember, although back with the AOS it was just the one application number.  At the moment posts seem to be split between both, one or neither.  I suppose it shows it's not a large matter.

And when you get there face to face with a human you can ask them. It's not like you are mailing away a form that has to be correct or else.

Ours had barcodes they scanned so it didn't matter if we wrote anything. They said don't bother,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoving conditions hell

I am working through the paperwork required to submit my removal of conditions application and I have come up against a few issues. The first being the Affidavits. A couple of years ago we moved away from our friends and a few hours north, so it is very difficult to both get an affidavit and I feel odd asking people we rarely get to see to write one for us. I don't know what to do about this. Any ideas? Bite the bullet and just ask anyways?

Don't do affidavits if in two years you haven't met a neighbor, doctor, dentist, employer who knows you are married to each other.

Secondly, it asks yet again about all criminal history. I provided an ACPO for my K1, a second ACPO for my Adjustment of Status, and now I'm being asked again. I only have one copy left, should I just submit this or send a photocopy? It was all for retarded rubbish from teenage years (2 instances of graffiti) but being asked for the same thing three times is ridiculous.

Use photocopies. Yes, you will need again if you apply for citizenship

Finally, my husband and I have one shared account and one credit card. All the other credit cards are in his name as I have no need for them. Our house is also in his name because I didn't have a job when bought it, and our utility bills aren't in our names either. All we have are the joint account, drivers licence photocopies as proof of joint address, and our taxes filed together.

Because of all this I don't actually have much 'proof' of our marriage aside from photographs and maybe screencaps of my Facebook from days out we've had together. I'm a little worried that it isn't going to be enough.

We were very much the same as you except didn't bother with Facebook since neither of us have that we are married or otherwise on there. We have both names on auto insurance. It didn't seem to matter that we didn't have all the suggested items. Keep thinking and maybe you will come up with other random things. Do cover two years with your dated evidence.
