Update: NVC recieved the petition and "within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post". It's nice to see things actually start moving after the NOA2.

I'm also in Houston, inside the 610 loop, but it looks like the Hurricane is going to miss us by a good ways.

Yeah just checked the tracking and it is still headed northward so we bit the bullet again.

No, we dodged the bullet again. laughing.gif
I'm not dismissing it until after tomorrow's early update. I've lived on the coast my whole life and have seen some like Carla, stop moving forward and just bobble around getting bigger for a couple of days, then going in a different direction. Dr. Neil (Channel 11) said after tomorrow morning's bulletin, we can be pretty sure where we stand. I'm still on semi-alert to get out of Dodge if needed, but my biggest concern is flooding, which would have to be a Category 4-5 being about 8 miles inland from Surfside and Freeport. Wind and rain aren't as much of a concern. My dad's theory was always that he'd rather be in the house to put out buckets, mop up water by a broken window, or nail a board over a hole in the roof, so I've been through a few smallish ones. I guess that's why they don't scare me quite so much because I've "ridden out" a few as they say.

Do you guys know you can call NVC and find out when your file got there and when it leaves and your new case number. London case will be something like LNDxxxxxxxxx. It's an abbreviation of the Embassy.

NVC: 603-334-0700 press 1 for English and 5 to talk to someone.
Hours: Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM (EST). Best time to call is 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM to 12:00 PM.
Don't enter your receipt number in the automated system. That doesn't work for K1s. Not put in the system. You must speak to a person.

Afer you know when it leaves, then you can track it through DHL all the way to the Embassy.

Hey Tex...a day later and so far so good for us, except it's category 4 now. You sound like you're near Clear Lake, Seabrook, Kemah. I am cautiously waiting because they never seem to go where they originally predict. I have supplies and and my car is full of gas. I will definitely evacuate if it turns during the night. And now we wait...

Hi y'all...
Oh, it's gotten more cheerful in here. good.gif Love the wedding dresses and talk of plans and babies. Much more fun. Keep the spirits up. You can get pretty moody at this point so don't let it strain your relationship. We actually had two total breakups in our March group. I'm not lying! And another said she was giving up and he could just move to her country. She was going to cancel the whole case. Then she dropped out of posting for the longest time. She reappeared and is already in the US, so it was good to know she worked out the problems at her interview and kept pursuing the dream. I think she was so stressed out that when the Embassy said they needed a co-sponsor and put her approval on hold, she just had a melt down. You guys are doing well. It's that black hole of no news that ruins it. Before long, you'll say, "I can't believe it's been so fast. Wow, time to pack." biggrin.gif

Luckytxn---Do you live in Houston? Are you watching hurricane Gustav and wondering what the heck it will finally decide to do? Always unpredictable. Enjoy your weekend before it starts pouring rain next week...or not...depending....
And then there's Hannah waiting in the wings....

Hi May filers! Just dropping in to see how your spirits are holding up. It seems like once they start approvals in your month it gets so much harder to wait. You really get obsessed with checking USCIS and Igors. I think it's the hardest time. So I just wanted to wish lots of good luck. Once you get the NOA2, there's so much to do and it goes fast. If you haven't been doing it, start working on the next part. There's things to order and more documents to puzzle over....you know those ambiguous questions that you wonder what the heck they mean. Don't be one of those people that start a thread called "NOA2. Now what?" Get ahead of the game on the rest of the journey.

Just thought I would throw in something to take your attention away from the dreadful waiting, but it probably won't work. So hang in there just a little longer. smile.gif

Catching a flight to Northampton tomorrow. I will be down there a few months. I'm just thinking if I need to come back up to Scotland before my interview.

Are you having your mail forwarded? You'll get a P3 checklist to fill out and send back with the DS forms. And you have to take the interview appointment letter (Packet 4) to get in the Embassy. Also your certified birth certificate (with parent names on it), police cetificate, divorce decree?, military records?...don't know your history. I haven't read this whole thread, so maybe you've done all that already.

Did anyone else notice a CSC May filer updated yesterday they got their got an NOA2 17 June???

http://www.visajourn...?showuser=48385

While it is very positive, I can't help but be realistic.

John was so excited he started making plans, it suxs when I have to bring him back down to earth. Nothing worse than inflated expectations.

On the whole though good news.

If you look at that timeline. They had an RFE to which they replied 4/29. Then if you look at the date of mailing the original petition, it's the same day as the RFE 4/29, so that's a weird timeline and the approval may not have been so fast.

How's if going May? Congratulations on all those touches. I got a few about a month before my approval. Gets you excited then it seems to make it even harder to wait. Feb and March seemed to be big months and caused it to go slower. Maybe the length of time will get shorter as we roll through April approvals. Look how the graph goes up and down http://www.visajourn...1vschistory.gif

Congratulations! You can start looking at what London sends for Packet 3. It's no longer a packet but a letter telling you to read this page for instructions on how to prepare for the Embassy interview stage. http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html

You can't send that in yet until they notify you that your case has arrived in London and has been logged into their system. But you can start learning about it and preparing all the forms and ordering a police certificate. Read everything on that page, not just the list. And over on the right is a section titled MORE. Look at all of that too. Be ready with everything so when your case hits London, you are good to go with sending the next bit of stuff in without delay.

If you haven't studied this page, it's a good place to figure out how long the process is taking to get the petition approved.
http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

Here's a graphic of the London end once your file gets there. See how it varies, so hard to know where that line will be when you get there....75 days? 100 days?

Posted Image

And while making your plans to be absent from the UK, you might want to look over everything you have to do to prepare for the London end of things. There are photos to be made and signed on the back by someone who has known you two years. There's a list of who is "official" enough to sign. It's not just any mate of yours. All that just so you can order your police certificates. You will need to have your hand on your long form birth certificate or order one. Well just read the list (and please click the links to get the details.) http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html

It's also wise to get your immunizations from NHS and documented to take to your visa medical. Just wanted to point out what you need to study before working out a timeline to be away. You don't just go back for an interview. You prepare many things and fill in 4 forms to submit to London before they will grant you an interview. And you attend a medical exam in London before the interview.

Thanks Guys all alot of help, ive heard London doesnt ask u for proof usually but to take it anyway just in case. Also, i was under the impression that NVC do update u on thier automated line? Or so it seems as it accepts my EAC number just says we have not receieved it yet!!

You've been given some good links, so take the time to read them. NVC just assigns a case number and passes the K1 off to the consulate in about 3 days total. They don't put K1s in their automated system. The IR1/CR1 visa people who actually send their forms and payments to NVC will be in the system. Speak to a person. Call late at night.

If you had read Dodies link, it says this (in red even)

For the NVC:

K1's are not tracked through the AVR, EVER. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:

1-603-334-0700

Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)
Press 1 for English
Press 5 for an operator

About the evidence. It was just a tip to point out that London is not Manila. People always say they will take it "just in case". Well I've actually been to the interview in London and read hundreds of reports from interviews for just shy of 3 years now. Nobody has EVER been ask to show evidence of their relationship. Keep it simple.

Work on getting your immunizations done at NHS now. That will help you at AOS time and save you money too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNext Steps NOA2

Ok so lets take one step at a time lol  NVC are to yet receive the case, and i need to keep checking on the automated line to see if it is recieved and get the LDN number.

Then I will tackle DOS after I know its left NVC!! XX

NVC automated line will never have a K1 case. (correct me somebody if they've changed this) You must speak to a person to ask your questions.

I want to say again like I said in that post you were linked to---London may not even open your package when it arrives from NVC for days or weeks. So while you don't have to wait to receive their letter (it's not a packet of forms), you need to know they have opened your stuff from NVC and put you in their computers, ie "logged your case." Sending your forms before they are aware of your case (logged it) could end up with things misplaced. You could get to the interview and they can't find those DS forms...weirder things have happened.

I think you mentioned somewhere in this thread about proof of relationship and photos. London doesn't ask for that. If you try to show them photos they will probably politely decline. NO evidence of your relationship. NO photos.
They want you to show up with the stuff on THIS PAGE so read it carefully...every bit of it so you don't miss anything.

Hi guys, I am sure this topic has been covered but there are so many pages to search through to find information.

A few threads you can read are below. My advice is always look like a tourist. Staying 3 months and bringing your child (when most are in school) is leaning toward the suspicious side. Don't pack alot of non-tourist things you figure you'll move over early like your whole winter wardrobe or cd collection or 40 pairs of shoes.

Edited to add:
When we called the NVC 4 weeks after our NOA2 date they gave us our case number and told us the date they'd received it and the date it'd been sent to the consulate, so they obviously do have information in their system!

I agree they have K1 information in their system. My post was saying the K1s can't punch their USCIS case number into the automated phone system to find out information.

On Thursday it will be 3 weeks since we got the NOA2 email and text, and NVC has still not received our stuff. I know they say 10 to 15 business days but all the visas I see on vj are usually a week, maybe 2....Is this going to make the process take longer? Should I be worried?

Are you asking a person at NVC? K1s won't ever be in the automated system so it would say file not found even if it had come and gone from NVC. Just checking if that might be your problem.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe Journey

The waiting is so stressful! First we wait for the NOA1 then the LONG wait for the NOA2, checking status every time I turn on my computer. I thought we'd be relieved after the NOA2 and although it was a VERY happy day the anxiety still runs high. Ours was a very short journey through NVC, arrived May 2 and left May 3 for London!!! The pace will pick up now that we wait for packet 3.... But the thought of the interview day and that our future is in the hands of a consulate officer is very stressful! Seems like there should be a better way! especially for those of us that have proof of a LONG term relationship. It's the not knowing.... We are thankful that ours seems to be moving quicker then some.

Don't stress over London. Easy place. You won't be denied.

I hope you've started working on your London things. No need to wait on P3 to get started working on the forms and getting your documents in order. LONDON INSTRUCTIONS

They say to have id from the beneficiary like driver's license or a utility bill in his name at that address or a credit card in order for someone else to receive it. That said, I received my fiance's passport and the guy just handed it to me without asking for id, I signed, and off he went. I've read alot of others say the courier didn't bother to check id. Some who had it delivered to their workplace said it was just left at reception without id and they weren't even aware it had arrived.

I just spoke with DOS. They said there is no appointment scheduled, that he was "made eligible for an appointment on the 21st." They said it could take a month. Does anyone know a month for the appointment, or a month to schedule? (Thank God we didn't miss it.) Odd the Embassy didn't know.

You speak to a helpline at the embassy who doesn't have access to see all your details. When she said she couldn't see appointments, maybe she meant she didn't have access. Or maybe she meant she couldn't see it meaning there's not one yet to see.

Hi All. I have a question, it seems that each country is different. We are filing for the London Embassy and we have done packet 3 sent and arrived at the Embassy May 18, had medical on the 3rd of June embassy received the results June 8. Are we suppose to contact the embassy to schedule an interview. I have thought that they send us a letter with the interview date, however some of the blogs I am reading sound like perhaps we need to contact the embassy. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you!!!

London will send you an appointment letter. It tells you toward the bottom of this page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

What Happens Next?
On receipt of the Forms DS-230-I, DS-156, DS-157 and form DS-2001, the Immigrant Visa Unit will complete all necesary administrative processing of your visa application. You will be required to provide additional information if you have incomplete or missing forms and will be contacted in writing if that is the case.

Approximately one month before your scheduled interview appointment with a consular officer, you will receive an appointment letter containing the date and time of your visa interview. On the day of the visa interview, you will be required to bring all of your original documents, or certified copies, plus one photocopy to the visa interview. Click on "The Interview" and "Visa Fees"on the left-hand Navigation bar for further information.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAffidavit I-134 need advice!!!

My question is regarding the I-134 specifically through the Embassy in London. According to this website it doesn't look like you need to file a I-134 but i'm a bit confused. http://london.usemba...faffidavit.html

1. For London you can do the simple I-134

OR (drumroll)

2. You can create a do-it-yourself form and follow these instructions to the letter, making sure you get all the components in.

Sponsors may also elect to furnish a statement in the form of an affidavit sworn to before a notary public or other official competent to administer an oath, setting forth his or her willingness and financial ability to contribute to the applicant's support and reasons, in detail, for sponsoring the applicant.

The affidavit should include:

•information regarding his or her annual income;
•where material, information regarding his or her other resources;
•obligations for the support of members of his is or her own family and other persons, if any;
•other obligations and expenses;
•plans and arrangements made for the applicant's reception and support;
•an expression of willingness to deposit a bond, if necessary, with the USCIS to guarantee that the applicant will not become a public charge in the United States; and
•an acknowledgment that the sponsor is aware of his or her responsibilities under the Social Security Act, as amended, and the Food Stamp Act, as amended, that the affidavit will be binding upon the sponsor for three years after entry of the named persons; and that the affidavit and supporting documentation may be made available to a public assistance agency. (The provisions of the above laws are contained in form DS-1858, Sponsor's Financial Responsibility Under the Social Security Act, and printed in Part III of the instructions for Form I-134).

The sponsor should include in the affidavit a statement concerning his or her status in the U.S. If the sponsor is an American citizen the affidavit should include a statement about how U.S. citizenship was acquired. If naturalized, the affidavit should indicate the date of naturalization, the name and location of the court, and the number of the sponsor's certificate of naturalization. If the sponsor is an alien who has been lawfully admitted into the U.S. for permanent residence, he or she should state in the affidavit the date and place of admission for permanent residence and the alien registration number which appears on his or her Alien Resignation Receipt Card.

To substantiate the information regarding income and resources the sponsor should attached two or more of the following items to the affidavit.

•notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;
•a statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;
•a statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened and the present balance;
•any other evidence adequate to establish financial ability to carry out his or her undertaking toward the applicant for what might be an indefinite period of time.

I'd pick #1

Or if the Brit has maybe $50k in cash he can prove and outlines how he plans to transfer it to the US, that works too. There's never been an exact cash amount published so I really don't know the amount for self-sponsoring by the Brit.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHello! Waiting on NOA2...

On topic: So if you wouldn't usually get the influenza vaccine, and you get approved in time, then you may want to try to schedule your medical for before October so that you can avoid this shot. (That's if you get approved really quickly, you'll actually probably end up having your medical right in the middle of the flu season.)

Joanna--
USCIS is kinda easy on this one. They go by the date of the medical exam which is the Knightsbridge date if you get it all taken care of by then. If you were current with shots and didn't get a flu jab (not flu season) then no matter when they adjudicate AOS, it's okay as long as you were current on the date of your medical (date on the DS-3025).

And if you didn't get a flu jab during flu season, but they adjudicate your AOS when it's NOT flu season, then they okay it because it's not a requirement at the time they are adjudicating. Another example they throw into this rule is aging out. If you were 18 at your exam, you're supposed to have Hep B. If you didn't have it and had turned 19 by AOS, they don't demand it because at the time of adjudication it is no longer a requirement for a 19 year old. Here's their words:

C) Steps to determine the necessary vaccinations

Step 1 . First determine which vaccinations were required for the applicant as of the date the medical exam was conducted.

Step 2 . Verify that the vaccinations required as of the date of the medical exam had been received by the applicant or that the vaccinations required as of that date were marked as “not medically appropriate.” Form I-693 is acceptable if the applicant has received each of the required vaccinations, or if the civil surgeon has noted that the vaccination was “not medically appropriate” at the time of the examination.

Step 3 . If the required vaccinations were not received or not marked as “not medically appropriate” as of the date the medical exam was conducted, determine whether the missing vaccinations would still be required as of the date of adjudication.

Step 4 . If the missing vaccinations are no longer required, the vaccination requirements have been met. This is, for example, the case when the applicant has aged out, or it is not the flu season, or a vaccine is no longer required by law.

Step 5 . If the missing vaccinations would still be required, the officer should RFE for those vaccinations.

Here's the part I speculate on. Say you were okay at Knightsbridge, but decided to go get a civil surgeon to copy your shots to an I-693 for AOS. I think that becomes the medical exam date for shots and the DS-3025 date is old news and no longer counts. If flu season had rolled around by then, then the I-693 would need a flu shot on it because that's the date they will look at. Same with shots that are a series. If enough time had passed, then you would be due another shot of the series for the civil surgeon sign off. If you stuck with your fully complete DS-3025 and didn't do a new date of record with a civil surgeon, then you wouldn't have to get more shots. That's how I sort it out in my head. What do you think?

(Thank you little_g. You're doing a lovely job helping people too.)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHello! Waiting on NOA2...
I would suggest~~~

Petitioner:
Order your tax return transcripts to prepare for the affidavits of support you will provide for the visa, as well as for adjustment of status. Only the most recent tax return is required, but you can order three years at a time for free from the IRS. Tax return transcripts are summaries of your whole tax return provided free by the IRS. They can't be faked because it's a copy/summary of your whole tax return picture, basically certified by the IRS because it's issued by them. That's why you don't have to include any 1040, Schedules, W2s or 1099s if you send a transcript. They are free from the IRS. Transcripts take the place of sending a complete tax return. There's an online ordering form http://www.irs.gov/i...=232168,00.html OR if you call 1-800-908-9946 (the transcript line), there is an automated system for ordering transcripts. You'll have to enter your Social Security number and the numbers of your street address. It will generate an automated request to mail your transcripts.

Beneficiary:
Go to your NHS doctor and get the immunizations you will need for Adjustment of Status. You can get a K1 visa without having any shots, but you will need them before AOS. It’s really wise to take care of it before getting to the US. Many NHS doctors will do them for free, but they are not obligated to do so for immigration purposes. If you had theses shots as a child, Tdap/Td must be no longer than 10 years ago or you have to do them again. Get the shots documented by your doctor to take to your visa medical exam. Here’s the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:

Td or Tdap - Maybe not available in the UK, so get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted for AOS

MMR (if born in 1957 or later) Get two in the series if possible since he has time to wait the interval.

Varicella – Not routinely given in the UK but have seen reference to it being available; a history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa exam.

Influenza - During flu season only, October 1 through March 31. This was a new recommendation dated November 2010 for all ages over 6 months. Older lists will say flu shots for over age 50. It changed.

Get what's listed as that is what the USCIS requires. What your GP in the UK says you need has no bearing on what will be acceptable to USCIS

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F SENT!!

What are the main reasons the petition or visa gets denied..

You have a communicable disease
You are mentally ill and are a threat to yourself and others
You're a known terrorist
You have committed many serious crimes, especially crimes of moral turpitude
You are found out to be a fraud and nothing in your applications are true

If none of those sound like you, then you'll be fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI was approved!

I was just wondering do they give me a form when I go through immigration? or do they just take the stuff off me and send me on my way?

Thanks so much and thanks for all the support and questions I have had answered on here. I am sure I will have tons more for AOS.

Look in the menu at the top of the page. Click on POE in the lighter blue bar and you can read detailed experiences for your POE airport.

Congratulations. You could help other people by pasting your review in the embassy review section as well as filling in your timeline.

Too many deadlines! Move out by tomorrow. Interview Tuesday. Wrap it up at work in 2 weeks. Let her have time after all that just to chill and get it together at her own pace. The visa is good for 6 months so she doesn't have to hop on a plane the day after she finishes work. Give her time off work to catch her breath, say her goodbyes, and organize her thoughts about moving. My fiance wanted a month after he quit his job--so that was 2 months after the visa was delivered. Even then it was a last minute scramble to be ready for the shippers to pick up his stuff. She'll be happier if she gets to leisurely plan the move after everything else has settled.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFiancée visa is on hold

I messed things up on the f-129 form and I see the error of my ways now and should have hand written
and sent in my 2nd wife's divorce information. When I saw there was only room for two
divorces I put down my first wife divorced in 1985. I did not declare my second wife's divorce in 2004
thinking it was obvious because I got re-married to my third wife until the divorce in 2009.

From what I understand I need to get that divorce document to London notarized express mail. Am I right so far?

When London gets it I understand it takes about two weeks. Is that accurate?

Does my Fiancée have to go back to London for another interview?

You don't need to notarize the divorce decree. Just make sure it is every page of it and has a court stamp/judges signature...whatever your county does that makes it an official document.

Normally the person who interviews gets the missing document and returns it to London via the courier company along with her passport. When the document is received, London issues the visa and sends the passport back via courier. The time varies. They don't necessarily do it the day it arrives, so two weeks is a good guess but could go faster.

Here's the courier page where you book a passport collection--meaning they collect (pick up) your passport and documents at your house or work for delivery to the embassy. http://www.thedx.co....rt collections/

She would pay the Combined Collection / Delivery £25.50 that covers collecting from her and the delivery of her passport back to her after they issue the visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsInterview Date!
Pay the visa fee so they will email your receipt.

Take the receipt and your interview letter and a way to pay the courier after approval
Read this page very carefully for what else to bring http://london.usemba..._documents.html Don't skim. Read the details. People still show up without the proper birth certificate, even though it is fully explained on that page.

Notice the first paragraph says bring originals and photocopies of documents. They will return your important documents and file the photocopies.

That's it. For London you do NOT need:
USCs birth certificate
NOA2
Copy of the I129F packet
DS-230 part 2
Evidence of your relarionship
Proof of engagement
Photos with your fiance
Your shot record
Another letter saying you intend to marry

It's easy. A very short chat and you're done.

Old language still used by VJ. Get your instructions from the embassy website because that's all you'll be getting.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTaking Toooo Long!

Still waiting for the Interview Notification and the NOA2 expires on 10/17/2011.

My fiancee called the London Consulate, last Friday, and they stated that the documents were in order and the status was updated on 09/26/2011, so the Interview Notification should be sent, soon. Fiancee advised them of the 10/17/2011 date and she was told I would have to contact the USICS on my end request an extension. I talked to the USICS this morning and they stated that the London Consulate would have to send ME a letter stating that I needed to get an extenstion and I would have to send the copy of the letter along with my written request.

This paper-chase is getting to be annoying, especially when it's not our fault that they're delaying the process. Calling the Consulate is like calling a "900" number, because they charge a per-minute rate for taking calls! Calling the USCIS is a bother because they're ready to give you a scripted answer before even allowing you to finish asking the question. No one was actually ready for the question of an NOA2, close to expiring while WE'RE waiting for the London Consulate to process the paperwork.

I expected that the Interview would take place sometime during this month (October) and already planned a vacation in mid-November for us to get married (Justice of the Peace) upon her arrival and enjoy some time together. BUT, the bureaucracy is starting to throw a wet blanket on plans! :bonk:

Nothing to worry about. I looked at your timeline and you sent your things in to London in a timely manner. You don't need to get an extension. London extends automatically, or rather won't even consider your expiry date. If you went a year without sending anything in toward your case, then tried, they could say, "no you expired". It's like a shelf-life date to assume you have abandoned plans. But you are active, prompt to do your part, and waiting on them so they won't hold that against you. You need to do nothing but go to your interview.

Wedding talk: I went to a wedding Saturday night. The reception was in my friend's pasture right in front of her house. If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll show you a fancy Texas pasture wedding which may be a weird concept to many of you. Notice the chandelier hanging from the oak tree.
