K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTransitional applicant.

Ok We are so near the end of this process to be hitting a brick will just sucks!
I have an interview date and time in just over a week. The letter didn't arrive.
I cannot pay fee's because we do not have a DS-160 number.
I cannot get through to anyone as the transitional process is happening.
Anyone worked this transitional process out yet and if you have can you please help me to understand what to do next. Thank you x

See the paying instructions in this Interview document http://photos.state....appt_letter.pdf

Did you follow them exactly, specifically choosing "pay for a K1 visa" BEFORE scheduling the courier? If you do courier first, you get into non-immigrant visa territory for student or B1/B2 applicants and can't get to K1 payment. That was the problem people were having last month or so when this was new. Unless they did a change this week, it should work. Many had to start over with a different email address because if you take a wrong turn, the software is unforgiving.

If that doesn't work, they will still take your money at a payment window on the day of the interview.

Also, did you actually submit an online DS-160 or a previous version of the application forms?

What is missing, the appointment letter?

It can say ready or administrative processing while it's in the queue to be printed and put in your passport. Then it will change to issued.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestions about NOA1?

The NOA1 date should be the date you get the official email or text from USCIS saying they received your petition and they assign you a case number. And yes some people get it very fast. I got mine 5 days after they received it.

And here's an example why timelines have inconsistencies. When it says "Date Sent", I always put the date I dropped it in the mail box. That's just the way I interpret it. That's why I said people do both ways. Timelines are based on human input we can put anything we want as a date. Some even put a sent date later than NOA 1 because they made a typo. Or they are British and put 01/07/2013 for July 1 because that is their habit.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestions about NOA1?
People put both in their timelines. You're talking two days difference. In the world of immigration that is nothing. Two weeks difference is same date as far as they are concerned. Don't fret over hours and days. You can't pin your hopes on anybody's timeline because there are too many variables. If you forgot something, you get to fix it. Nothing you can do right now. It's a process and you too will get through it...but how long is always a mystery.

The courier brings it with the passport. It contains all your immigration files and they aren't done with them at the interview so can't hand over until the visa is issued.

You do know that getting the petition approved Is only part way there. You will have the "few more months" you choose to wait out, then a few more months for the London part. Hopefully they will work on your case immediately because of the date.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSenators office or congressman's office?
They are all equal as far as providing help with USCIS

Each state has two Senators, so if you are in a large state like TX, NY or CA, it may be harder to get the attention of a Senator because they have a huge population to cover. In a state with a small population, they don't have to cover so many people. But your Representative is associated with your local district and is often more attentive to their "piece" of the state. That's the only advantage I see in your Representative over Senator. In Nevada, you may find one of the Senators more responsive to you, so give their offices a call.

Did your o line status show that they received your RFE and resumed processing? Any touch dates following them receiving your response?

If you didn't send in the correct info in response to an RFE, they would not have what they need to approve. In that case they could deny. They don't keep asking. A denail wouldn't be because they think you aren't a legit couple, but because they don't have enough to approve. Can you post exactly what the RFE said and what you sent? Wondering if the delay is related to the RFE.

ohh I see it now xD

i've been using the internet on my phone lately as i've been unable to use my usual computer, so on the mobile version of that website, i don't think it ever loaded correctly or something because i didn't see the column with the price and link to the PDF, like i was able to see when i managed to get on a computer and check the page.
i apologise for seeming like I was being lazy and expecting you guys to find all the answers for me.  i do truly appreciate all of your help! :)

i'll make sure to browse the websites I need for visa stuff on my computer in future, so that I don't miss out on any important information. :P

Thank you ^^

I understand. I use an iPad and it defaults to the mobile version. I know the embassy website like the back of my hand and I can't find important stuff on the mobile version and I know what I'm looking for. I have to scroll all the way to the bottom and click use full site, then go back and click the bookmark I have for that instruction page. You really need to find something other than your phone because London scatters their info all over the place and you will miss the links to the two forms in the right column of the instruction page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

And don't mind me, the teacher/mom in me wants everybody to learn for themselves rather than believe what a stranger says in a forum. So I try to point you to the real source.

Also a good source for you now is the UK forum because it's all about London and different in many ways from other consulates. Start browsing or asking questions there. http://www.visajourn...united-kingdom/

"The link to London instructions lost at sea gave you has separate information on the medical if you will look in the list of topics in the left column of that page. When you get to the medical page, there is a PDF document to download in the right column, with yet more information."

Instructions http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html
Look at topics in left column
Click "Medical examination" > price is on that embassy web page. Not £230.

Click the PDF on the embassy medical page and you will find
more info on medical
map
Phone number
Immunization list
Price list if you get shots there
and the questionnaire you must fill out and take with you

Tip-- get your shots done before you go to the medical. Saves money and hassle for AOS.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 visa approved! But.. administrative processing?
Agree the CEAC status changes to AP (sometimes for only a day ) before it goes to "issued". My guess it when the interviewer sends it down to the visa printing room, it gets the designation of administrative processing. Depending on how busy they are, or if they ran out of ink or paper or something, there could be a big pile to work on so may take a couple of days before the visa is printed (issued).

If it doesn't change for weeks, then she can fret about what the hold up is.

You should get a hard copy either directly or through your attorney. You will need the hard copy NOA for AOS later if you are doing that yourself. So make sure you get it from the attorney if he is your middle man. (also a nice keepsake)
 .

She won't use NOA1 for anything other than to get the case number and find out which service center is processing the petition. It is NOA2 that is needed for AOS.

By the way OP, your application went to the Texas Lockbox, not the Texas Service Center. All K1s start there, then get forwarded to a Service Center.

So I just got in the mail what I believe to be the NOA1. Only its from the California Service Center and not the Texas one that it was sent to; so I assume I was transferred. .

This is it

By the way OP, your application went to the Texas Lockbox, not the Texas Service Center. All K1s start there, then get forwarded to a Service Center.

You weren't "transferred" like people talk about. That's when you start processing at California Service Center, then they send it to Vermont Service Center. A transfer like in people's timelines is between two Service Centers. You sent the forms to a lockbox (basically a mailroom). Your first and only Service Center is CSC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Visa Approved, sent passport back but no envelope?
That is truly weird. I can't even guess. But I am surprised that he even spoke to somebody on the phone at the embassy. That is next to impossible. And if you get a live human, it is likely not the person in the IV unit who actually knows what's going on. A visa can't be cancelled before an interview. Maybe the petition?? Or maybe after the interview.

NVC would be pretty useless for a K1 because no processing happens there. It's a short pit stop. That's why the phone person who said ask NVC doesn't sound knowledgeable.

USCIS has nothing to do with issuing or canceling visas. They deal with petitions that allow you to apply for a visa. if there are any notes made by London, then DOS will have that information. They are the parent agency over the embassy and the NVC. Maybe you can ask a LOT of questions and get an answer. You don't have a long wait until Tuesday, so not long before he is face to face with a person who has the answers.

I have never heard of your situation and I've been reading the UK forum for 5+ years. It could be they lost it and need your signature again on some documents. I doubt it is another interview, but more of a paperwork session to clean up their mistake. Not too many months ago, they sent the wrong guys paperwork and he wasn't aware he had somebody else's until it was opened at his POE airport. They have done some weird things lately.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestion

You haven't been approved for a fiance visa. Only a petition has been approved.  Visa approval requires application, a medical exam and interview. That would take you about 3 more months. I don't know what it takes to get London to issue a tourist visa. Just wanted you to know not to say "Look, we were approved for a fiance visa."

If he gets a tourist visa, make sure he actually gets in the US with it before you put out a lot of money on a wedding.

This FAQ from London might interest you too.http://london.usemba...proc.html#iv063

Depending on your desired timeline, the visa issuance could be easily dragged out until summer. Then valid until maybe November. Then an extension requested to put it to maybe May 2015.

They have been saying recently they don't give info on K1 visas because people called day after day to ask "do I have an interview yet?" So start the conversation with "I need to understand one of your forms because I have an unusual situation. "

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsProcessing center changed?

Hey guys,
We sent our I-129f a week ago to the Texas center and I just got an email saying it has been accepted and routed to the California Service Center for processing. Anyone have any idea why they would do this? I was reading a forum from 2013 and some people mentioned that the Texas Center does not process the I-129f, yet the USCIS website listed that address to send forms to. Either way, I am just happy they finally opened it!! Hoping for a speedy process with no RFE's!!

You need to change your timeline to say California Service Center. Everybody mails fiance petitions to a Lockbox facility in Texas. That is NOT the Texas Service center. It is like a mailroom where contractors sort new petitions and payments before sending to real USCIS employees at a Service Center. You don't know your service center until the Lockbox folks route it to one and tell you in the NOA1 receipt. Once you know, then your timeline should list your actual service center.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat's next?

She received hard copy in mail yesterday, would it be better to wait 2 weeks and then call NVC in USA or should i call the US Embassay in London and quote Receipt number from hard copy??

London doesn't take phone calls. I think what you are missing is...you are done with USCIS and are being transitioned to the Dept of State. Your wait now is for USCIS to send it to them. The NVC will be assigning a new Dept Of State case number and mailing an NVC hardcopy giving that number to you. Your old USCIS case number doesn't work at the embassy. You can wait on the NVC hard copy or call, but your case needs to be received by London before you do any of the application forms.

This thread should be read and studied now to prepare for your London part of the process. It will guide you http://www.visajourn...complete-guide/

It would be quicker & by far cheaper to send him the money to buy a printer in the UK as the shipping costs alone could be more than the cost of the printer sent from the US, also good chance it won't work due to the different electric voltage.

I gave a link earlier for a UK business where she could go online and purchase a UK printer, scanner, copier for £35 and they would deliver free to him. Maybe he doesn't know how to set up a printer or have computer skills or transportation to a library or how to handwrite something that can be one sentence long. There must be reasons why she has to do even the simplest things for him.

I wish they were consistent in their advice, when I asked the man I spoke to he said I'd have to get a notarised statement from my fiancé if the petition expired in order to proceed.

Only if you did nothing in the way of sending in your forms, getting a medical, etc. As long as you did your part in a timely manner and London can't fit you in for an interview yet, your petition is extended automatically. On the other hand, if you did nothing for say 6 months after London had sent you the instruction letter, then sent in your DS-xxx forms...they would want new assurance the USC petitioner was still on-board with the marriage plan.
