Ummm... instead of figuring out what is good or right. Think of it from a childs point of view. Parents with health issues are hard on children. Maybe the child at a young age may become resonible of taking care of them in there teenage years. The child don't have a choice. My mom is not in perfect health and she helps me a lot with my children as I have to work . I can say for a fact my teenage son and almost teenage daughter has a big impact on her blood pressure. And she is in her early 60's . There is no way I would even ask my mom to keep up with a infant or toddler. Not that she is not capable, but out of respect.

You'll are comparing your comments to maybe what has happen to your parents, but older health issues for woman have come a long way. Yes, an older woman can die but would you base your decision on doing what you want to do on the unknown factor.

Based on your ideal answers, an older woman shouldn't even get married at that age, nor should be be caring for her family. I have new for all of you'll who hasn't had your first child, an older woman would be able to do it better than you at an younger age. What they will have over the younger age is wisdom and experience. Raising children requires these 2 assets more than energy or good health.

Handicap woman have children.

I think it is great that these women were able to concieve these babies, and it was there dream. But my thought is in your 60's and 70's what a short time you would have with your child. And it is hard for a child to lose their parent at any age, but for a younger child to lose there mother to death so young, to me is just not fair to the child. Granted the fathers are younger and can take care of them, but that is just sad.

Middle East and North AfricaMay His flight and entry go smoothly
ohhhh... makes sense now..lol. I'm so excited for you .

He got it before he was married to me- married me, and left the country on a visit here. Many years ago he was here 4-5 years as a student. He has a 10 year to the UK, and a visa to Dubai. He travels a bit. :)

How did he get a 5 year visitor visa and married to an american?

Ahh!!! He is coming- he is coming!! For those that believe in the sort of thing, I humbly request even the briefest of prayers that he passes without hitch into the US. My husband has a 5 year visitor visa to the US, and he is coming for 2 months. We have only a couple flights and the scary passage at the POE in Detroit, MI before he is on a hop to my home city. (is'A!!)

My tummy if flip flopping... I am so excited/nervous/panicked/zomg...everything all at once. I have only been with him in person for the 2 weeks surrounding our marriage last March. Sometimes I ask myself if it was even real.

Less than 24 hours if it goes smoothly...I will be at the airport.

Middle East and North Africathe other wife and my interview

If you do not cancel your visa appointment now, that will be the first question they ask you at the interview. They will verify your marriage to your second wife and when they see the 1st wife, well your pretty much done. I am sorry that your wife talked you into lying on your papers, or that she felt that only American Law would apply here.

Angel Eyes YuseefFemale02013-08-13 06:11:00
Middle East and North AfricaHow long did it take for your I-130 to be approved?

Yes they are really backlogged. Glad to hear they are opening another service center. At this stage they do not care where your husband is from, as long as all the required papers are there. Or if they think they need more they will let you know. Hang in there.

Angel Eyes YuseefFemale02013-09-11 17:05:00
Middle East and North AfricaK1 or I130+K3? Which would you recommend in our case?

The K-3 is still viable through USCIS. But the American Embassy in Egypt does not accept K-3 anymore. Each Embassy processes differently in each country. Your case sounds really solid. Just remember Egypt is considered a high fraud country, and with all the things that are going on is holding Visa's up. And actually USCIS is backlogged here in the states. The average time before June for Egyptian filers was 18 months from start to interview and AP times. Because all cases get some form of AP in Egypt. But now the average 5-8 months with USCIS has increased to almost 12 months. So I am hoping them opening a new center will help USCIS to speed up. On the average USCIS processes 5 million petitions a year. But since the revolutions, the numbers have increased.

Middle East and North AfricaFiance Visa or Marriage Visa? Please help!

For a man in the military to have a relationship out side of Egypt is considered treason and possible swapping information's.  They are very serious about this. Best to just keep the relationship quiet for now. But even with that said, the military are the ones that track the internet and phones there in Egypt. So I am sure all his activity is very well known. There military is not like ours. And the longer you wait the more solid your visa petition will be.

They only asked there names and if he had met them... It really depends on the proof you have sent them already, on what they will ask. It really does not matter to them if he has met them or not.

Middle East and North AfricaBeginning K-1 process (fiance in Egypt)

I couldn't help but post on this. My husband has been here in the states for 9 months now. I can not begin to tell you how different he really is now that we live together. Even my husband lived away from his family and on his own or with room mates. He does not do any cleaning. He will cook. We had all these ideas on how we would combine our cultures in our house. How we would deal with my kids. How he will deal with not working Jobs he is use to. We thought we had touched on all that needed to be. But in the end they can only compare to what they know form there Egyptian life. And I have been accused of not preparing him for what he would face here. He is more then homesick.

Also being a male never married before, he did not know what to do, when my children started to challenge him. He actually turned into a child himself. He is pretty much refusing to work in retail or a factory. Because he is above these jobs... He has had a very hard time adjusting to say the least. It is not easy for them, and of course they will take there overwhelming emotions out on us. And what if your kids do not accept him? Lets admit it, you are spending time with him, not the children.

Most times there is a lot of tension. But slowly he is adjusting. But I am not sure if the scars between my kids and husband will ever repair. I am lucky my ex choose to just disappear for the most part. But I know if my ex choose to show his true colors my husband would be sitting in jail.

Please think beyond your honey moon phase right now. The immigration is a major test of the relationship. It seems that most men get depressed once that visa petition is filed. And then the adjustment is a bear and some men can not just handle it.

Middle East and North AfricaCario Embasy....????? Who is in AP??

Maybe I can shed some light on what they are doing in the AP process. The part that takes the longest is the FBI checks. FBI is backlogged as it is and 1/3 of the background checks come from USCIS/ Embassies. And if your fiances and husbands have common names, they can receive many hits. Each time they get a hit, they have to put more info in to get to the right person and this process may go through many hands till they are satisfied with their results. Also on the Egyptian side they are checking marriage records, military records, and see if they are apart of any radical groups. Then add all the political things going on in Egypt it has really slowed this process down.

Angel Eyes YuseefFemale02013-09-27 20:07:00
Middle East and North AfricaCario Embasy....????? Who is in AP??

I am lucky, our AP was not long. But there was a friend of mine that her husband was interviewed the 1st week of November in 2012. And they are still in AP hell. I pray for all of you. As of last year it looked like the start to finish time was 18 months. So if visa petitions went fast they got long AP times. If they had RFE's they had shorter AP times. But they all seem to come out at 18 months. But with every thing going there I am not sure what is holding them up. I do know they are working on the petitions. I had another friend that had a 1 year ban, and they are at the the end of that, and Embassy is now moving there case along. There is no patterns to figure out anymore.

Middle East and North Africamaiden name in passport

I travelled this past summer to Norway in which I used my passport that is still in my maiden name (that is the only document that I have not changed into my married name) - had no problems - as long as your name on your ticket matches your passport you should be fine. :star:

From what I found out it is not that big of a issue. But they do advise that you get it changed as fast as you can, when all other documents have been changed. I called National Passport Information Center last night and I explained my situaltion she just said to make sure I had all supporting legal documentation.

I will be calling them to find out for sure. I not sure if i will have my social securty card changed in time to get a new passport in my new married name, so I will be calling to find out.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp!...4 page RFE received
See this scares the ####### out of me. The basics are not always what they want. So how does one know they submitted all that they would need.

Optimistically, hoping for our NOA2..I opened the mailbox today to find a rather thick envelope containing a 4 page RFE for our I-130....I am so frustrated and upset right now...We have been married for a little over 2 years and I sent in an almost 1 and a half inch thick package full of supporting evidence with the petition. I have even lived most of the last 2 years over there with my husband...and yet they still need more proof of our ongoing relationship? Luckily, I am planning on going to visit him in a few weeks because some of the stuff they want there is no other way I could get it. Also they have on the RFE that I indicated that he entered the US on July8, 2001 and they want a copy of the I-94 and his passport pages along with any authorization to work....He has never been in the US, he has never been outside of Egypt or on a plane for that matter!!! I just spoke with an officer at USCIS and explained this..he kind of laughed and said that is weird, I don't know where they got that from..it is our mistake...just write a little note with your other evidence explaining what you just told me and providing his address and wherabouts at that time...-VERY PROFESSIONAL USCIS, r we mixing up petitions now??? Some of the other evidence they are requiring:
-81/2"x 11" color photo of each of us
-a current color photo of the two of us together holding a recent newspaper with the date clearly visible in the photo
- a current I-864 (yes, an 864 for and we are only in the petition stage)
-both of our bank statements and any credit card statements from Feb 09-April 09
-both of our employer's names and contact info along with our last 3 paystubs
-copies of any joint accounts/insurance policies or leases- we don't have any of this...that is why we provided affidavits from friends and family as well as all supporting evidence such as mailings, emails, chat logs, phone records, travel receipts for the past 3 years.
-a detailed explanation of how we met, if online they want credit card statements- it was a freakin chat room for god's sake!
-a detailed explanation as to why we didn't have a big wedding celebration or a honeymoon
-a statement detailing the store name, address and phone number where my wedding ring was purchased along with a credit card statement or receipt.

Does this seem a little excessive to anyone else? I am more than a little overwhelmed right now and wishing I had just stayed in Egypt back in August and done DCF route.

Senator Alexander’s Office has spoken with the California Service Center to inquire status on your petitions. The liaison there told us since it is almost at 5 months processing time (the average max. processing time for these petitions) that he’d pull both and assign them to an officer today. That will help expedite the process.

Do you guys think this will help get my family here faster? Have any of you tried this b4? IF its assigned to officer how long should i expect?

That is true there is no hard and fast rules when it comes to the visa expereince and the consulates and Embassy's. But if you are going to wait for him to finish his schooling are you going to time the visa around that. I been married for a little over 3 months now and my strong non-emotional husband is very emotional. And having a hard time with missing me. Will he be able to make it through his schooling after he meets you, and makes that incredible bond and starts to miss you. Can you afford to keep visiting those next few years. I just want to give you a few things to think about. Cuz you would be surprised how emotional egyptian men can get.

 Well said. It seems like the OP has a ton of red flags: meeting online, age difference, marrying on the first meeting, mixed religions, and lack of parental approval in a country where marrying a spouse your parents approve of is a strong cultural norm. Those are all red flags for the consulate and visa process, and they are also red flags for the relationship's future itself. With that said, I've seen enough things on this forum and others to think there are no hard and fast rules, either for the issuance of visas or for the success of relationships. I've seen couples who appear to have no red flags get denied and couples that I would think don't stand a chance zip through the consulates with no problems. As for the relationship itself, while I've heard it happens I haven't really personally heard too many stories about couples without too many red flags breaking up, at least not on a timetable that coincides with immigration benefits and suggests fraud. I have seen MANY couples that, to be honest, I thought had to be for immigration purposes end up lasting long after the green card dust settled, so I admit I don't really feel like I'm in the best place to judge.

Back to the OP, I'm not sure what advice to give you, other than to listen to what the experienced Egypt members have to say and to prepare for a wild ride, regardless!

Every case is different. But i am going to tell you the age difference is a big red flag. Why are you only going to meet him now after 3 years?? Sorry i am curious. Marriage on the 1st visit is not alway advised. I think that since there is a big age difference that i would want to meet him and see how important his friends are, how he treats you while you are there. How his parents respond to you, things like that. Then if you feel comfortable then marry the second time. But you could always do a K-1 visa too. But i will let you in on something. If you choose to marry, the embassy can denie you. And if the embassy approves the petiton they will warn you that any goverement office you go to, can denie you. So just be careful. I think that big of a age differences that in time the difference's will start to show them self. But that is my opinion. When you visit him and every is great then I encourage you to presue what ever you like.

My fiance' is 22 years old and lives in Upper Egypt. He has a strict Muslim family and strict Muslim upbringing. I am a 38 year old female from the US and am a non-Muslim. we have been in an online relationship for 3 years and I am going to visit him in February and we plan to get married and start the embassy process in July when I go back to visit him again. I have been reading many different responses here on this site. Some are comforting while others are scary....Can someone tell me if it is better to marry him there and start the process...will it make a difference? Most importantly how long could this process take especially if the consulate asks the family if they approve and they do not? Will it be an automatic denial?

Have to be careful with that, i am sure there will be a rise in marriages and things like this. The embassy will be looking for the ppl there to be using others for a escape. Just be prepared for this to be a long hard road.

Thank you all for your responses! I believe that my fiancee and I will be getting married in Egypt this summer. He would like to find work there once he has completed his service and save some money before he comes over. I know he'll have quite some time given the application process takes so long. With the recent uprisings in the country, we just really feel that we would like to make our commitment "official" as soon as we can. So it looks like we'll be going through the spousal visa process after all.

Middle East and North AfricaWanted: Egypt Buddy/Mentor
Hi, I went to egypt in October. We rented a flat in El Rehab, nice place outside of cairo and the airport. El Rehab is a city within itself. The flat was nice, but a little costly, I have no idea what you all paid but it was like $280 pounds per day, which is like a decent hotel room. They had a huge food court, and 2 malls there, we seen 4 different schools of different countries and was told there was like 7 of them there. It has it's own bus system, and buses in to the city. It is walled in and there is security there 24 hours a day. I loved it. If you like we can become friends and chat, just give me a p.m.

Hi all,

I am new to these forums and I would love nothing more than to interact with some people going through the same things I've been going through. My fiancee and I have been together for nearly 2 years. He is in Cairo, I am in the US. He is currently serving his time in the military. I have been to Cairo twice, with my next visit planned for Feb. 10th. I don't have to tell you all how heartsick I am at the current situation. I will be going as soon as things calm down there.

I usually stay in a flat in Mohandeseen, but my last trip there the flat was kind of dirty and had a seemingly endless list of issues! Any suggestions on where to stay during a trip to Cairo from any of you would be most appreciated.

Also any general tips on this particular type of long distance relationship would be welcomed.

Thank you all..

Middle East and North Africathe current situation in Egypt
From my understanding of things going on. The only way you can go is if you havea visa to the U.S.A. in your egyptain passport and you leave with your dad that has a American passport. That is the only way. And now that flights are starting to go in and out of Egypt again, you can not take the free charted flights. You have to find our own flights out now.

Hi everyone,

I read about evacuating US citizen and their immediate families,,,,my question is,,, my dad is a legal permanent resident,, and he is here in Egypt with me now
but both of us are scared and he wants to go back to the US and he can't leave me behind here alone( both my mom and sister are in the US now). I don't have a visa to the US. So will I be able to go with him even if he is not a US citizen yet??

Middle East and North AfricaHow did you learn Arabic?
Wow that is great you found a poistion like that. My husband friend keeps trying to talk me into running a day care there too. I told him but i do not know Arabic, he said that is ok that is why you have helpers. lol. But most times it is easier to teach others english if you do not know there launage well. Becasue you will find yourself speaking more arabic to help them understand. When there pre-schoolers there little brains are sponges and just focusing on english is the best way to teach it. Now if it is to live in Cario you want the Arabic, knowing a few important phrases is important. But I found most ppl to know english or enough words they could help you. If the embasssy was not closed, there is a specific part that helps americans get jobs in Egypt and they could tell you how important knowing arabic is. But there closed except for emergenices.

So I've been with my fiancee for 2 years and I don't *have* to know Arabic because he speaks perfect English. However... I would *like* to learn Arabic. I have several books, CDs, etc. I have Rosetta Stone as well. I was considering contacting the local Islamic center to see if they offer a class on Arabic there, but I also wanted to ask here to find out how you all learned Arabic, if you have.

I was looking at some jobs in Cairo, found a job for an English speaking American to teach preschoolers English... Which would be fantastic as I have some background in preschool teaching here in the states. I just would feel a lot better about working in Cairo if I knew more of the language. Any tips would be most appreciated.

Middle East and North AfricaMSN Chats
LIsa this is Nora. I could edit chats in Yahoo too. But I added messenger plus and now there is logs for MSN. I just do not want a lot of open accounts, because that makes them wonder too. Sometimes i feel this process your darn if you and darn if you don't.

I think that was me. The attorney told me that the MSN chats were a problem because they came from my received files and could be edited, and there was no way to print out an account page or log, etc. For the RFE I printed out pages from Google mail, that shows the dates we were logged in and how many lines were in our chats. I didn't print out our actual chats. I also printed our account pages that had our names on them and the Google Talk home page that shows the friends list. Some people get through will nothing, others need more proof, and that's with chats, photos, affidavits, anything. It basically just boils down to the adjucator you get and what their requirements are. I don't know what office you filed with, but California seems to be a tough office and they've been handing out a lot of RFE's in the past few months.

I added the messenger plus, i hope that this will help a lot.

If you install the add on, Messenger Plus!, you can save all your chats that way. It's a nifty little program, and the chatlogger is great, it even saves smilies in the logs. They are all dated and have times on them. It may be a moot point, however, unless you're frontloading your petition with them, because it seems the consulate rarely looks at the ones people bring to interview.

I included screenshots of my hubby chatting with my mom, sister and stepdad, so they could see that he has been in contact with them and there is family approval.

Yes there dated and have the users names. I just heard from another person that MSN was useless because there was no chat logs. HMMM

Are the chats dated? Should it matter where they are stored on the computer? Aren't you going to print them out anyways? I didn't send any chat logs when we applied or had our interview. I didn't want anyone to have access to our discussions. I sent a few emails spanning the time we were together instead. I feel like extensive chat logs are overkill and don't prove anything other than you chat online a lot.

I do have a few screen shots, that way they see that we use msn messenger and the pics from our cams. Just verifies things a little.

I sent about 20 pages of MSN chats that we had from Messenger Plus or whatever it's called. We had no problems with them. Sent a couple cam screenshots too.
