I don't think that it will be a problem.

My wife is also very good at finding my mistakes.

Don't worry, I think that it will be OK.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInsurance for your spouse
QUOTE (Justin and Masako @ Jan 8 2008, 02:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

I have insurance though my work and I am attempting to add my wife to my policy as it has to be done within three months of our marriage. The insurance company seems to be trying to come up with any reasons they can to avoid covering her. She still lives in Japan and works there. She has insurance through her work (though she is not covered when she visits the US). She is (obviously) not a citizen and she doesn't have a SSN, and is of course not eligible for one until the I-130 process is done.

Has anyone in a similar circumstance been able to get their spouse insurance? I don't want her to have to keep buying travel insurance when she comes for visits and when she quits her work she will have no insurance at all. Though she won't quit until she gets her visa.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

MODS: I wasn't sure what category to put this into so if its in the wrong place I am sorry and feel free to move it.

Justin and Masako,

I married my Japanese wife in April of 2007 and was able to get her on my Insurance soon after. I had to have a translated copy of the marriage certificate to prove that we were married. It did not seem to be a problem for me after that.
Of course you are at the mercy of your insurance company and your Human Resource Manager. If the Resource Manager will help it becomes much easier.

My insurance is with Bluecross Blueshield of New York.

Good Luck!

I submitted 3yrs of ITR's... But I think 1 is enough now.. Also if your not submitting assets and co-sponsors.. I suggest to just use I-864ez.

As mentioned above.. You will need your latest paystub, and Employment Certificate..

Are you sure that a pay stub and emploer letter is required? The instructions say this is optional.

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I have a question about the I-864 document and what you send back with it. I am sending off my I0864 today. I want to be sure that I include everything that they will need. I have sent the following:

1. I-864 (Completed and signed)
2. Printed and Signed copy of the tax return for 2006 (I filed Electronically)
3. Copy of the acceptance of my Electronic Tax Return for 2006.
4. Tax Transcripts for the 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Will this be enough?

Thanks!

I would like to know this also. I am hoping that my wife and I will be approved soon. The ability to e-mail in the 3032 would be very handy.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEntering the USA
I have finished the NVC paperwork and it will soon be sent to the Tokyo Consulate for processing. My question is:

What happens when she arrives in the US under the Immigration Visa?

During entry do they record that she has entered the country? Is that how the Government is notified that she is here at to go ahead and issue her SSN? (I marked that she needed one on the DS-230).

What about a International Drivers License. Has any one gotten one and what does it allow?

Thanks!

OK I really can't find the answer so I need some help. My wife has her conditional residency right now that expires on Sept 24. We were planning on taking a cruise to the bahamahs and st martin the second week of OCT. I am planning on filing as soon as I can but I knw that I have to wait 90 days before it expires to file . So I was wondering if we can leave the country while we are waiting. They might reply quickly but if it doesn't get approved before OCT, can we go? I have to buy the tickets this weekend. What do you think? Much love for your help.

BTW by conditional residency I mean that she has her CR-1/ Permanent Resident Card-which is only good for the first 2 years

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNBI clearance...no fingerprint on form
[quote name='edmagenta5' date='Mar 20 2009, 09:07 AM' post='2756112']
Hi eric and Wife,
NVC always want everything accurate so before you send in the required docus, make sure that you give what they are asking for,yup that would cause delay.. NBI clearances do have thumbmarks, right and left..the person who is assigned to assist her with her fingerprint probably forgot to mark a right side..alam mo naman sa atin..
I suggest she go and get another NBI or if she has original copy she comes back to their office and have that fingerprinted..make sure you give originals,.. NVC is asking for Originals now..

During my husbnd's interview in USEManila, they asked for another NBI with different spelling of middle name..weird..Give them what they are asking for right..

Making sure that everything is submitted right to avoid further delay on getting your visa soon when interview comes....we all want good result when the interview date comes right... So, good luck on getting that fingerprinted..

good.gif

hI Edmagenta, i think what you're trying to say is the process of getting the NBI clearance, coz i doubt if the people from NBI will forget to have the right hand fingerprinted blush.gif

I think what EricN is asking is the printed NBI clearance, coz most of the printed one (the one with 2 copies...) doesnt really have thumbmark on it. yeah, i think you should ask your wife to have her thumbmark printed on the NBI clearance..nothing wrong with it.

Hi EricN....ive been getting my NBI for 7years now...and I dont have a right thumbmark fingerprint on the lower right of the 2-copies of the NBI (as you were saying....)

Is this the first time your wife gets her NBI Clearance? coz all the NBI Clearance copies dont have a thumbmark on it. (I dont have either...) but I'm not sure if she can just put the thumbmark by herself? I think its ok, but im not really sure....tell her to ask someone from the NBI if she can just have put it by herself...

Hmm...i dont think it would cause RFE...like what ive told you...all the NBI clearance I had has no thumbmark....but to make it sure...ask your wife to ask NBI.

OK, but why have you been getting NBI for 7 years? Did you already get your interview/visa? Thanks, Eric

Nope.just starting my visa journey. well, ive been renewing my NBI every year..and they need it everytime i transfer to other employers/companies.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHmmmm.......
USCIS and FBI Achieve Interim Backlog Elimination Goals

We’ve met another benchmark in our efforts to eliminate the FBI Name Check backlog.

As of mid-February, USCIS and the FBI had completed all name checks that were pending for more than six months. In doing so, we beat our publicly stated goal by almost two full weeks. With the milestone’s completion, the FBI and USCIS have met or exceeded the first six milestones outlined last summer.

And that might not be the most exciting news. We’re on track to meet our May 31 milestone of completing name check requests pending longer than 90 days. By the end of June, the FBI will complete 98-percent of USCIS name check requests within 30 days and process the remaining two percent within 90 days.

Let me put that into perspective. At the beginning of November 2007, there were nearly 350,000 pending name check requests. Of that total, more than 54,000 had been pending for more than two years. Another 55,000 had been pending for at least a year. Today, there’s a grand total of 6,756 pending name check requests. And of that number, not one has been pending for more than six months. In fact as of that February 17 snapshot, the FBI was completing 99.2 percent of all requests in less than 30 days.

The results speak for themselves. The effective elimination of the name check backlog means that USCIS can make more timely decisions about immigration applications and petitions. That includes cases with derogatory information and those that are otherwise approvable. In both the present and the future, USCIS and the FBI will continue to focus on sustaining the rigorous and efficient screening of each name check request. Our joint attention to eliminating the name check backlog will ensure we reward deserving, eligible applicants with benefits like U.S. citizenship and permanent residency in a more timely manner.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Chrito, Paris is great, try to get on the train and come to Paris for a couple of days. We wanted to take train to Germany the past 4 visits I was there in Paris, but never made it. It is where my fathers family is from, Im German on my fathers side, and Norgwein on my mothers side.

Believe me, we would of liked a Normal wedding, but we will once he is here. We went thru Hell and back since June 2008 but we are legally married now, and moving on.

LOL! yeah i remember that you'll be doing laundry yesterday..too lazy huh?!hahahaha

I got laundry today!!! and rest of day watching videos from honeymoon and editing them, have not had time to do all that yet.

Where did go for the honeymoon?

Paris, husband lives in Paris. I flew that night to Paris after wedding ceremony. We were married via proxy, just me, my brother, girl friends ,and my brothers girl friend at wedding. Groom was on the phone with us when Judge married us.

whoa! "proxy" is that really possible? couldnt imagine...so how was it?

Proxy marriage is legal in 4 states, Texas is one of them. We tried to marry in France. after $4000.00 and 2 trips to Paris, our paperwork expired.
We will get married again when he is here, and have family and friends with us, and then have a Texas BBQ reception.
But we are legally married, we had a honeymoon, and sent all proof to USCIS that I was there for honeymoon. Copy of passport stamps, boarding tickets, we made back to back merchant transactions with his Debit card, then mine, we have a joint checking account, we did transactions within 30 seconds apart to show USCIS I was there with him. A friend here from VJ married like we did, and told me what proof I needed to send them. He did this and his wife is here now on a K3.

WOW!! i hope i can have my visa before you get married so i can fly over to meet you...hehehe.....and yeah, the BBQ reception is so cool!

Stop panicking....I was in the same boat, although only held over night, answer YES to the question and where if it asks for an explanation just enter what happened and the result. IT WILL COME UP SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE as you have been advised.
Be honest and all will be fine.

Not sure why they would hold you for 5 days for possibly having weed on you but guess different countries different laws.

Again, and I can't stress this enough be truthful as a lie or half truth will come back and bite you in the end.

well-Liam and I are in constant contact. If people didn't know better, they'd never know he was on the other side of the world. I wake up to a good morning text message. He phones me before lunch every single day at work. Throughout the day we email each other. He works "night" shift in Scotland so he texts me that he's on his way to work. We speak to each other on the phone during his breaks until I go to sleep. We make certain to schedule a few hours of webcam "alone" time with each other as often as possible usually every weekend. We ARE each others best friend. He is my life.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Question

To nica_chica3......my fiance also did some jobs of that sort in costa rica at some points, but i'm sticking to "none" on my form..because none were really official, and had not much evidence paperwise, meaning I have no way to prove it really........

I think that's the route I'll go as well, especially since he was only there 4 months....All the paperwork starts to get confusing when you are so anxious in the first place! Good luck on your journey!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Question

This is a tough one. His ownership of the truck is irrelevant. What is relevant is:
1) Does he make money by using the truck? Does he provide commercial services?
2) Does he have commercial entity that provides such services with physical address and phone number?
3) Does he pay local taxes?
In this case ownership of the truck is irrelevant as his relative can provide the letter explaining it. However, if he does not have any of the above ownership of the truck becomes irrelevant

1. He does make money by using the truck by providing commercial services (transporting salt, rice, soap, etc).
2. Sorry for the ignorance, but I do not understand commercial entity very well!? He does have documentation in the company the truck works, if that's
what you mean!?? I do not think it's government official, but just a way to keep track of his truck and so they can pay him.
3. He does not have any local taxes he pays, I'm guessing because it's Nicaragua!?? He does have to keep insurance on the truck and the driver.

Would we need a letter from the relative at a later time during the visa process for the explanation? I ask because his relative actually works in Carnival Cruise and will be leaving Nicaragua next week, so I want to make sure and get the letter, if it would be needed.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Question
Thanks san diego!!

I have one more question for this form concerning the employment section...my husband's cousin "sold" his commercial type truck to my husband. My husband pays monthly payments, but the truck is not actually in my husband's name and will not be until he pays it off. My husband manages the truck, repairs it, and has a driver and workers, so it's as if he is the owner, except on the paperwork. I say all of that to ask if I would put his current job as Owner of the truck. If not, then I will put "None" as his current employment....
