Money Transfers

Hey there! Where do you get the coupons? I haven't tried Xoom, but I want to give it a try.

Well, lately I've had a hard time finding any new coupon codes but I just do a google search for "Xoom Coupon Code" and see if anything comes up. I usually try a few of the older ones just to see if they work and if not, I go ahead and send the money since the fees are very reasonable. Xoom really is so nice. I've seen a few bad reviews on the internet about them, but I just don't see how. I've been using it for 2 years now (just to Nicaragua though) and the money is always ready to pick-up within 30mins and they've even lowered the fees just a little since I started using it, so I'm definitely a devoted customer...at least until I can find someone that will send for FREE!!! B-)

I use Western Union...it's 11 dollars for international. plus, i think they have more locations than moneygram

Have you ever tried Xoom?? I use Xoom and it starts out as low as $4.99 to send to Nicaragua (that's for $25.00 I think and goes up from there). I don't know how much you send at a time, but I even sent $1200 (big amount, for me) and the fee was only $16.99. You might want to look into Xoom if you haven't before. I send it and it's usually ready to be picked up in 15-20 minutes. I use BAC for the pick up because that seems to be a little faster for him (he lives in Leon). They were even calling him to let him know he had money to pick up, although I don't know if they are still doing that or not. I always search the internet for coupon codes just to save a little money on the fees if I can, but honestly, I am very satisfied with Xoom and the fees they charge, especially considering the speed of the transfer!! Just wanted to pass that along to ya!

I went to Dr. Rolando Esparza and the medical was a flat fee of $185.00 and if you need to Fedex any documents it costs about $41.00

Was the medical exam pretty thorough? What vaccinations did you have to have before going? Was the exam pretty easy??

Do you mean it costs $41.00 to Fedex your Forms to the government from inside the U.S.? Or from Nicaragua?? Or do you mean to ship something to Nicaragua? I found that Express Mail International with USPS was pretty cheap sending stuff to Nicaragua. I sent an envelope with my birth certificate last Thursday (Jan. 13) and it was delivered to my husband's house this morning (Jan. 19) and I paid $27.55.

All of this information can be found with just a little research on these forums. You should try doing a search before asking questions. Just a helpful hint!

Thank you for the info! I actually have researched quite a bit on here and knew from the VJ Guide that the big chunk of fees for the forms would be around $950. The real motive behind my question was to see if anyone came to the realization of how much the "little fees" here and there start adding up such as photocopying, translations, mailing & remailing evidence to the government, etc. From what I've gathered, it adds up fast!! :unsure:

Fees

Can anyone give me a comprehensive list of all the fees (& possible extra fees) that are associated with the IR-1/CR-1 Visa process? I'm talking from the amount for mailing Forms to the government, to the actual fees of Forms ($420 for I-131,etc), to medical exams, to possible fees (if the alien spouse has to get vaccinations), etc. etc. etc.

I'd love to get a good feel for how much I'm in for before I start the process so that I won't be blindsided down the road.

Spacing for Addresses

Two things:

1) Put them on a separate sheet of paper with your spouse name on it. We just said "See atatched schedule" on the form.

2) But more important, my wife is in Costa Rica where addresses are the same as Nicaragua--her address in English is 400 meters south and 600 meters east of the church, across from the XYZ condominiums. When I sent that to the Chicago Lockbox, they returned it saying they wanted the street address. I sent them a letter explaining that addresses in CR are directions, and that what I had submitted was correct. They accepted it the second time around, and we are someplace in the normal process, so I urge you to write an explanation why you are not giving them a simple street address.

Spacing for Addresses

Anyone else have/had problems with your addresses not fitting in the space provided on the forms (specifically G-325A at the moment)?? Addresses in Nicaragua are so long (directions)that they won't fit!? Should I just handwrite those in, even though I've typed everything else?? :huh:

Actually, its not really a mistake...we will be correcting it before we send it to NVC.

My problem would be...is erasures allowed? and the question 31a and 31b (my bad! 21a and 21b is wrong) is blank, so i will ask my husband to just fill it out for me before mailing it...aside from that we dont have any prblems...

QUESTION: I already send my DS 230 forms and docs to my husband..and the courier said that it will take 3-5 working days for him to recieve it..so most probably he'll recieve it next week US Time.

here's my question: im so stupid to overlooked my ds 230 form.

1. I had a mistake writing my husband's birth year (instead of 1982 i put 1980) = can he just change the last number?

2. I overlooked questions 21a and 21b...(so, no answer) = can he just answer it for me?i know it wouldnt be consisted with my handwriting) but will that pass fro NO RFE?)

*** is it bad to have a little corrections with the number. Sorry, i know how stupid I am to make this mistake.
My husband cannot give me answer coz im the only one searching for answers....i just can't sleep.

He will be deployed early next year and i truly want to be with him this year and hopefully by September 22,2009 (1st Wedding Anniversary)

Hi Mariel, you guessed right - don't argue with them. We got RFE last week for missing photos. And I called NVC and tried to argue with the lady that we did send 4 photos with the DS-230, and she said: "I'm sorry, the person who is working on your file is missing the photos. Please, send 2 photos, blah, blah..." So, try to reply ASAP. That woman said we didn't have to wait for the letter in mail to send back the RFE. But what we had to wait was another cover sheet in e-mail, which we received one day later after my phone call. Call NVC and speak to someone, ask them if you actually could e-mail the RFE. I've read on VJ in other threads that some ppl e-mailed the RFE replies. Good luck and no more bumpy rides

Exactly! I was like rewinding what I say...over and over and over again...and the operator keeps telling me the same thing. Well, a friend of mine emailed it, coz we haev the same problem, it took NVC almost 2 weeks to read the email. so I guess we just have to mail it overnight. Hopefully a case complete next week.

Hi Dean. It's not really a false RFE...actually my hubby called coz we argue about it. I just forward the message the stupid operator told me. (missing 2008 tax) then my hubby called and guess what that stupid operator told him? He just need to have a written explanation why he have a zero (0) tax return for 2008......heller! what an idiot! it was stated on his employment letter that he was deployed in 2008 and heller again! he is in the Army...Heller! Heller! (lol)

This freaking NVC is making me crazy!!!

How long after NVC tells you they will send you....

Do you have a case number? If you do then send NVC an email and request the invoice identification number. Once you have that number you can log into travel.state.gov and pay your AOS bill. Let me know if you have anymore questions or anything I can help with.

Hi Lizz. Thanks for the well wishes. All interviews for Egypt are in Cairo. Unfortunately my husband lives in Alex so he will have to travel to Cairo early that morning for the interview. I will definitely send you a message and let you know how his interview went. I am praying that goes well ISA. Yes the tracking is when the package left from the NVC and is on the way to the Embassy in Cairo. I actually just found out that the package has made it to Cairo so im very excited because I was so worried that the package wouldnt make it there in time for his interview. So how far along in the immigration process are you? If you ever have any questions dont hesitate to contact me. Hope to hear from you again soon!!!

I would love to hear how his interview went, so that I can share it with my hubby. I feel that most likely he too will be going to interview in Cairo. Do you know if any people get sent to Alexandria or is it always Cairo?

Tell me how does one, track their package? Do you mean from when it leaves NVC to the embassy/consulate?
